Ch. 32

Connor

Connor's head was pounding, he felt as if he were in a dream and his body was moving without his control. He saw himself attacking his sister but did not know why or how to stop. He was starting to panic but noticed his body remained quite calm.

"Connor stop this! You are not Drakar's slave." Avalonna pleaded with him.

'I'm trying to stop' he wanted to say, but for some reason, couldn't find the words.

He saw Lydia and Drow aid him in attacking Avalonna and Queen Aurora, though he could not figure out why they were fighting. Something within him told him this was wrong, but a part of him urged him to keep attacking.

"You are under my spell, youngling." The deep voice of Drakar echoed around Connor's mind.
"There is no point to resisting. You will do as I say and you will aid me in defeating the witches."

The dragon's words boomed and lingered as Connor listened. He found himself drawn to them, compelled to obey what was said. It was similar to the elves charms when they spoke, but far more powerful. He tried to fight back, but Drakar's will was too strong. Before he knew it, Lydia and Drow were attacking Aurora while Connor was facing his own sister.

Only a moment after, Cyra appeared besides Aurora and aided her in their fight.
"Nice to see you again, Aurora." Cyra commented and began her chanting. Her spells caused a light red glow to appear on her allies that faded away as quickly as they appeared.

"It is good to see you too, Cyra. Your enchantments are always a welcomed sight." The elf queen replied.

Connor did not have much time to focus on their reunion, as every instinct screamed at him to attack Avalonna. His sister stood facing him and held her hands out defensively. It reminded him of how he faced the mother bear the day of Avalonna's return, only now he was the wild animal.

"Ligabis!" Avalonna shouted and her eyes shined with their usual magic. Connor felt his muscles tighten and he was no longer able to move. He became stiff and his arms were now bind to his sides.

"Thank you for your charms, Cyra!" Avalonna called out with a smile.
"I did not even feel any loss of energy with my spell."

"I am more than happy to assist all of you ." Cyra replied from behind Aurora with her eyes still closed.
"I pray that all my spells be as useful to us in our battle."

As Cyra spoke, Aurora was able to keep Lydia and Drow from getting passed her. She moved at a speed almost equal to Lydia's and constantly unleash silent spells and multi colored rays of energy to keep Lydia and Drow on the defensive. Lydia hid herself from these rays while Drow, still an elephant, took the majority of the attacks.

Connor struggled to break free, but could not escape his binds. He gritted his teeth and growled deeply but could not move.
"Duratus!" He said in a voice that was not his own. He was taken aback, as it sounded like a mixture of his voice and Drakar's.

Instantly, the snow and ice beneath Avalonna's feet began to consume her legs and froze her in place. She struggled and desperately tried to move as her legs were invaded in ice. Connor felt a wave of anger and disgust at himself as he felt his lips unwillingly curl into a smile.

"Ignis!" He chanted and large flames erupted in a ring around the siblings, separating them from the other battle. He felt slightly weaker, but was now able to move again due to his spells causing Avalonna to lose focus. He slowly made his way towards Avalonna as she began chanting spells to melt the ice away.

"How the mighty fall." Connor spoke in Drakar's voice and snarled.
"I have one of Meredith Bishop's children under my control and will soon be rid of both of them. How pitiful." He spat out and slowly reached for the knife on his waist. Connor tried to use his will to fight back, but could not stop as he drew his blade.

"Connor, you must fight Drakar's control!" Avalonna pleaded.
"You are stronger than this."

"Do not beg for mercy, witch." Connor unwillingly replied.
"Your death will earn me my life and freedom, and that is more than you could ever offer."

Connor moved to strike but was sent stumbling back as Avalonna's spirit dragon returned to her. Connor cursed in a language he did not know as the dragon roared and sprayed green flames to keep him away. Everytime Connor attempted to cast a spell, the dragon would release another burst of flames or swipe at him with it's claws.

"I have defeated the red dragon and I am here to help you, Avanlonna." The dragon spoke mentally, though in a feminine voice.

Connor glared at the spirit dragon, a creature of glowing energy. He knew he had to do something quickly before he lost the upper hand.

"I am not scared of you, abomination. You are nothing, not even a true dragon. I will have no problems defeating you." Connor stated, though his voice was strained and forced. He was still fighting Drakar's control, though making slow progress.
"Elementals, I summon you to my side!" He called out and held his hands out.

The wind began to pick up and whip around Connor, causing the snow around him to scatter and his cloak to flow in the winds. His eyes glowed a dark red and he felt his energy drop again as he began to cast his spell. When he was done, the four elemental creatures Drow had released now lay in front of Connor, under Drakar's control.

"These beasts were brought here by your friend, the changeling. However, they are not his." Connor stated and grinned slightly. He saw Avalonna glare at him, hiding back her fear. Her spirit dragon flew down in front of her protectively.

"The elementals are spirits of energy, like your dragon, trapped within magical artifacts by powerful witches and warlocks. They were made to be ruled by a natural warlock, such as your brother Connor." He added and the beasts roared and crouched on their four legs.
"Destroy the witch and her dragon." He stated coldly.

The elemental creatures pounced and jumped at Avalonna's dragon. Though they were smaller, the four of them were enough to begin to overpower the dragon. The ice elemental attempted to freeze the spirit beast, but she phased herself through it and attacked with a blast of her own.

Connor looked on and felt Drakar's enjoyment at the battle scene. The spirit dragon was able to hold her own for a few moments, but then she began to be outmatched. Avalonna stepped in immediately and held her hands out. She chanted something Connor was unable to hear, and a green energy flowed from her fingertips and shot out at the elementals.

"The witch has channeled the one magical element, the element used by both supernatural and natural creatures." Drakar's voice boomed angrily in Connor's mind.
"Defeat her now, boy. Do not let her use lightning against you. You control the elements, she only managed to use one." Drakar commanded.

Connor tried to reject his influence, but found himself chanting another spell.
