Chapter 15

No one seemed to notice the figure hiding behind the bushes.

Quickly, I took out my bow and an arrow and shot it towards the bushes. We ran towards the bush as we heard a scream.

A man who seemed to be wearing the Ethaletha's armor rolled around in pain as the arrow I shot hit his arm.

"Good one, Adal! We managed to catch a spy!" Jack applauded. Jack then picked up the man and threw him to a tree causing the man to scream in pain. "What is your mission here!? Why are you spying on us!?" Jack scolded the man.

"I.. Would never... tell you..." the man smirked. Jack wanted to punch the man in the face but Tiffany stopped him. Tiffany looked at Roselle and gave her an order. Roselle walked nearer to the man and sat in front of him.

"Listen, we won't kill you if you explain your purpose of attacking our kingdom. Please, we don't want to have anything to do with your kingdom. We are just trying to stop the war. People died because of this war and maybe your family will too. If you would just tell us, I'm sure we could prevent that from happening." Roselle calmly urged the man. Or maybe she hypnotised him. I couldn't tell. She's always freaking me out.

"I-uhh... We are just trying to... to find the legendary witches... It is said that they are in this forest... If we managed to catch them.. Our kingdom would be invincible..." the man hesitated.

"Invisible? Why would your kingdom wants to be invisible?" Elianor asked.

"It's invincible, El!" Tiffany corrected.

"Oh.... What's invincible?" Elianor asked.

The man snorted and answered "It means that we can be strong and unbeatable...".

"Ooh..." Elianor said as she realised the meaning of 'invincible'...

We couldn't help but laugh at Elianor. She may be a little unknowledgeable since she didn't pay attention to Aunt Ana when she teaches but Elianor has her own specialty.

"The witch belongs to our kingdom, even our best trackers couldn't find them. Furthermore, we could've just worked together to find the witch..." Susanna said breaking our laughs.

"Work together huh? You don't know who... you're messing with. Our king... doesn't have that word... in his dictionary." The man replied.

"Who is your king?" Roselle asked.

"Oh... Someone you don't want to mess with... Someone... who seeks revenge..." the man smirked.

"Stop with all these riddles and sympathy! Just tell us who he is or we'll kill you!" Jack said angrily.

"I-I don't know his name... None of us does... He hides his face most of the time... We are only loyal to him because he has a secret weapon... A weapon that I've never seen or know of but many had died when they disobeyed his orders... That's why we have no choice but to obey him. Please don't kill me!" the man pleaded as he shook in fear.

"I guess that's enough, stop hurting him!" Roselle said.

"Shall we kill him now?" Jack asked as he took out his dagger.

"No! Why do you want to kill him? He told us everything he knows!" Tiffany stopped Jack.

"If we let him go, he'll tell his king and risk having our location exposed? Either way he's going to die." Jack exclaimed. We all kept quite and agreed with Jack.

"Maybe I can erase his memory?" Roselle suggested.

"How?" Jack asked with an annoyed voice.

Roselle opened her bag and we could see different colours of poison in small test tubes aligned perfectly on a tube rack. She took out a light blue poison and used her needle to transmit it into the man's body.

The man became unconscious and Roselle treats his wound. "That should do it! When he wakes up, he'll forget everything that happened today. Let's go, now!" Roselle stated and packed her stuffs.

"How do we know if it works?" Niel asked.

"Don't worry, she's a poison expert!" Susanna ensured.

We continued walking into the depths of the forest. The sun is setting down and Jack commanded us to camp here for tonight.

"We missed lunch, so we need to have something heavier for dinner!" Jack said as he stood up.

"We have food, you don't need to go hunting for more!" Tiffany said glaring at him.

Tiffany really doesn't like Jack. They've been fighting since they met this morning.

"Yeah, fruits, vegetables, soup, are these things really enough?" Jack snorted.

"I completely agree with him!" Elianor agreed as she stood up.

"Fine, go ahead! But Elianor, you're staying here!" Tiffany ordered.

"Ugh.. Whatever..." Elianor whined and sat down in a childish manner.

Susanna and Roselle set up the campfire and prepared the cooking ingredients.

Several minutes later, Jack came back with some weird-looking fishes. They have rainbow-like colours and long fins.

"Caught these in the river not far from here." Jack told us.

"Are those edible?" Niel asked.

Roselle took the fishes from Jack and starts cutting it. "They're not poisonous, and the meat looks similar to normal fish so I guess it's edible." Roselle said.

I was quite hesitant to eat the fish but it smells really nice after they had been cooked. I took a bite and the wonderful taste explodes in my mouth. It tastes better than normal fish and the freshness makes it much more delicious.

After awhile, there's not a single meat left as we finished every little bit of it. We cleaned the mess we made while cooking and had a short chat before going to sleep.

Sleep. Dream. Repeat.

Like always, I followed the lady, saw the abandoned cottage, Niel is behind me, I fell...

Wait. Niel!?
