Chapter 4: Talk To Me

They stood in the kitchen as Mick poured him and Stevie a glass of red wine as she smiled at the thought of the first night they did this as candles were scattered all around them. "This brings back that night at my house when we did this but I remember a steak dinner and you talked nonstop, not saying it was a bad thing but I missed a lot and it wasn't fair for what he did to you." He said as she thought about the memory but pushed it to the back of her mind. "Let's not talk about that, it's too painful to remember and I'd rather talk about anything other than him." Stevie said. "Okay, well vice chancellor, this is your first day and you were amazing as always." He said as she smirked, holding her wine glass to her lips. "Are we talking about orientation with our students or us having amazing sex earlier because I'm confused." She said as he took her wine glass and picked her up gently and set her on the counter and opened her robe to kiss her cleavage. "Both angel." He said as she couldn't help but feel a great euphoria wash over her, that and the red wine mixed with the ice cream made her want him even more. "Hold on, let me go put on a record." She said as she eased her way off the island that stood in the middle of their kitchen. "What are you going to put on?" He asked. "You'll see." She said as she put on one of her records as she went back over to him as he set her back on the island and her song 'Talk To Me' started playing as he smiled. "Nice choice." He said. "It was either that or one of our Fleetwood Mac records and Lindsey sings all the intro to the love songs and I'm not about to listen to him." She said. "Yeah, this will work." He said. "I thought so." She said as he started caressing her thighs, expliciting a moan which meant keep going. "Set your secrets free baby." He whispered in her ear. "You can talk to me." She whispered back in his ear. "Angel, what do you really want?" He asked her. "I can't tell because it's already to late in our lives and that ship has sailed." She said. "Tell me." He said as she looked away from him and sighed. "I want..." She barely whispered, trying to say it but it cut like a knife because she always said she didn't want to do anything but sing and grace the stages across the world, vowing to never get married again or have children. "You can talk to me, it's not just a song baby. This is our life Steph and I want to know if something is troubling your mind." Don said. "I want a baby." She said to him as he looked pale as a ghost. "You said you never wanted to have children." He said. "I also said I never wanted to get married and look... I got married again." She said. "Stevie, what made you decide or that you want to have a baby?" He asked her. "I mean, clearly I'm at good place in my life now and our life is going really great. I thought you'd be ecstatic on the thought or maybe the idea of having a child?" She questioned. "Sweetheart, are you sure this is what you really want? Because I remember that every interview you said you never wanted children because that would take you away from being away from the one thing you love the most." He said. "Mick, I'm not singing, touring or making albums as of right now. All I know is that I have put a lot of hard thought into this and I want to have a child." She said. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Yes, I'm sure. It would not be coming out of my mouth if I wasn't sure." She said. "If we're going to do this, then a lot of changes have to be made." He said as she looked at him. "Honey, everything has changed, everything is different now and my past, between working and having depression, plus the Klonopin was really strong that made me fall deeper into a depression, then the weight gain and everything that happened all at the same time. I wasn't taking care of myself and at that time, I was just really lonely. I was going through lovers like a box of chocolates and nothing eased the pain except at the time I thought it would." She said. "You couldn't help but feel lonely and everything we've been through doesn't define us. We thought we were curing the pain but it was just hurting us more than it was helping." He said. "If I had my life to life over, I'd do some things totally different." She said. "You can't change the past but we can just move forward to a better present and future." He said. "This is not how I wanted to spend our night together, we finally have a free night from not working on the school like we did all summer but you're right, we can only move forward to a better present and future." She said. "It'll be okay and I promise you that." He said. "Do you think I'd make a great mom?" She asked as she sounded unsure and doubtful. "I think you'd make a great mom, angel." He said as she smiled. "That makes me happy." She said. "Don't doubt yourself sweetheart." He said. "That's hard." She said. "Don't give up hope." He said. "Another thought that's hard but I'm hoping and pray that it happens." She said. "I have faith." He said. "Me too." She said as he carried her upstairs.

...

The next morning, it was Saturday as Mick and Stevie woke up to go make sure the food was ready for their students as they showered, got dressed and left for the cafeteria.

They got there as students gathered in lines for breakfast as Mick and Stevie made their way to the stage as everyone stared as he felt her grab his hand as if she were holding onto dear life because it was different on stage this time as it made her nervous to speak. "Good morning students, this is your vice chancellor. This morning we're going to go over the activities we have for you today. We have the pool open if you like to swim, there's a job fair later on today if you're interested in that, also sports and curricular activity posters are hung in the hallways with sign up sheets if you want to be in any of those two. Also, the bookstore is open if you need any supplies or if you want to browse what school gear you can buy. Now, I'm turning it over to your vice principal and have a great day and just remember, be safe and be respectful to those around you." She said as he held her hand, walking down the steps. "Thank you vice chancellor. Now, the first announcement is that the job fair is today. We have a few places here on campus that need assistance and the postings are on all the billboards around the school, you can either go by there or call. Second announcement is that the lacrosse team is looking for a few of you to work the concession stand Thursday night and to be there by five forty five Thursday evening if you're interested. Third announcement is that next Friday, we're having a back to school party and you're all invited. Rules will be posted on the billboard Monday. Fourth announcement, school starts Monday at eight o'clock in the morning, that means, be up at five forty five or six o'clock, if you're not in class by the time of eight a.m. then, you will be counted absent as the doors automatically lock from the inside. So, be in class please. Fifth announcement, no one is to be wandering around in the halls of the school, unless your teacher excuses you and that's all the announcements and a have a great day." He said as he walked off the stage to join Stevie and few other of their colleagues. "It's weird being in a school to which any moment this apple could disappear. Don't you try anything because this was the last red gala apple and I don't want a cupcake for breakfast or for it to disappear." Christine warned her gal pal. "You know a spell for a cupcake?" Stevie asked her. "Of course, it's easy. It's in the baking section of every spell book." Christine said. "How do we know it's not poisonous?" Karen asked her. "Wanna try a bite?" Christine questioned as she acted like she was going to throw it at her. "No, I'm good." Karen said. "The fact that we have enough young men and ladies here who could turn their food into anything they wanted blows my mind." Stevie said. "As long as my gala apples don't turn into science experiments, we're good." Christine said. "Don't tempt me." Stevie said. "That oatmeal looks like it got left in to long anyway." Christine said. "Well, I've been practicing on my culinary skills." Stevie said. "Oh dear God. The last time you cooked for me, it turned out to be a disaster." Christine said. "I'm sorry." Stevie said. "She has gotten a whole lot better though." Mick said. "We never really cooked anything but microwave foods in a hotel microwave but I don't count that as a culinary talent which why I made a class solely dedicated to culinary because kids need to learn how to do more of that instead of being on their phones all day." Stevie said. "It'll be interesting for sure." Lori said. "Who's teaching that class?" Christine asked. "Sharon." Stevie said. "Taking courses never hurt and I have my own special recipes, including the standards guiding the kids through this year." Sharon said. "We'll have plenty of time for fun and games but right now, these kids need guidance and maybe teaching them a little old school will help. They need to know that this world is not what they think it is. It's tough and if schools don't teach them how to go out here and survive on their own, then I don't know what to do. I want them to learn the basics of life and these classes I created will do all that." Stevie said. "Well, I agree with you on this one." Christine said. "I hope you all will." Stevie said. "It'll be an experience still, for sure." Sharon said. "That it will be." Stevie said as she took a drink of water.

Author's Note: Sorry it took me so long, between work and my personal life, I rarely have time these days. Anyway, thank you for being so patient with me. ❤️

What's your thoughts of Stevie wanting to have a baby? It would be nice to know your thoughts.
