Chapter 3: Crystal Visions

As everyone listened to their vice chancellor and vice president as they took a tour of the grounds, she pointed at different places. "Okay ladies, the right side hall of the school is yours and that's where you'll be living the whole time you're here and gentlemen, the left side hall is yours. There's three people to each room and now, open you planners up because these rules are very important and if you break one or several, there will be consequences to follow, so let's read them together.

All ladies and gentlemen must have manners and respect for each other.

-All ladies and gentlemen must keep their hands to themselves or consequences will follow, if they are failed to do so.

-All ladies and gentlemen are to dress in orderly fashion.

-All ladies and gentlemen are to act like rank and title they are, and all ladies and men are to conduct posture as the person you are, and if your conduct is not followed, there are consequences that will happen.

Guidelines will be followed at the school and these rules cannot be broken, please follow the guidelines and handbooks directed toward the front doors directed in the podium for direct posture, composure, attitude, behavior, and lessons will be instructed everyday leading up to that event.

"If these rules are broken, the I will be making a call to your parent or someone on your emergency contact. I expect you to be on your best behavior at all times, if you have a problem either come to me or the counselor and we'll help you." Mrs. Stevie said. "Now, your schedules are in the big yellow envelopes and we'll let you see the classrooms before you enter them, so as Mrs. Stevie said, we hope we don't have to discipline anyone because this is like college. We are lenient on some things but we don't allow bad behavior or attitudes, so like she said, come to us if you have a problem, now let's take a tour and take out your schedules and see what your first class is." Mr. Mick said as Sara took hers out and seen that she had advanced chemistry in practical magic first thing in the morning. "What'd you get Sara?" Hallie asked. "Advanced chemistry in practical magic. What about you?" She asked. "English in crystal visions." Hallie said as Sara seen that was next on her schedule. "I have that one next." Sara said. "That sounds like they just slapped some fancy title on it to make it seem like fun." The girl from earlier said as we wished she would have stayed wherever she was. "Now, I know some of the courses sound silly but there are four levels of advancement from the bottom to the top." Mrs. Stevie said. "What happens if we fail a course?" Hallie asked. "Then, you'll keep taking it over until you pass it." Mrs. Stevie said. "So, how much difference is there between this and high school?" Bette asked. "When I had my crystal visions of how I wanted to run Bella Donna, I wanted you all to have some freedom to do whatever but then, I thought why not let you have both the high school experience with some college and if you pass, then you'll advance to the next level. You'll have two semesters two quarters each to advance to the next level like when you were in high school, but on your schedules you have your rank and title on it, so look on there and you'll find it. There's four ranks: Green emerald, Ruby Red, Blue sapphire and White diamond. Then, there's the titles: Rhiannon, Gypsy, Free Bird and Bella Donna. I took these guesses from the transcripts I received from your old school to see where you.were at at that time and there is grading system scale and that's explained in your handbook and you'll also have a process report and report card too at the end of the semester. This is just like school and we hope you enjoy your stay here, even if it's not what you want but know that if you use your magic, you won't be judged and that's why there's this school to help you." Mrs. Stevie said as they walked around more.

...

After a day of orientation, everyone walked into the building with their stuff as the housing mother was there as she assigned everyone a room as they got settled in. "So Sara, what rank and title are you?" Hallie asked her. "Blue Diamond Bella Donna. What about you?" Sara asked her. "I'm a Ruby Red Free Bird." Hallie asked. "Does anyone know the dress code because if I wear leggings and a crop top with a cardigan, I feel like I might get in trouble." Our roommate said. "It says here that we are to wear anything free of our choice as long as it's decent and not gaudy looking." Sara said, reading her handbook. "I might just dress up then." She said. "It's Friday, so we have three days to be prepared. Classes start Monday morning." Hallie said as Mrs. Stevie came over the intercom. "All students report to the dinner hall for dinner, all students report the dinner hall for dinner." She announced as everyone headed that way. "What is for dinner?" Someone asked. "Maybe something good." Another person said as they all gathered in the cafeteria. "Looks like pizza." He said as they walked towards the doors where bars of food were set up with different items. "There's everything you can think of and then some." Mr. Mick said.

...

The table consisted of Sara, Bette, Hallie, Hannah, another girl and a couple of the boys from earlier.

"This dining hall is better than the one at my old school." The boy said. "Mine too. I went to a prep school because that's the only school we had in my town but we had so many rules to follow and it was terrible there." Hannah said. "The school systems in America are a joke, I mean look at the dropout rate, it's bloody ridiculous." Another girl said in a British accent. "What's your name?" Hannah asked. "Edith Bardowski." Edith said. "So, what got you here?" One of the boys asked. "My parents are really strict about everything and I got mad one day and I accidentally pucked up a really expensive vase, using my magic and threw it against the wall. My mother accused me of using witchcraft and when my father found out about, they sent me off and then, I was put on a bus and ended up here." Edith said. "Well, we're glad you're here, I mean it's cool to have people that don't judge you for using magic." Sara said. "What'd you do to get here? Throw someone against a wall?" A boy asked. "No, I was sent here because my father died three months ago and my mother is starting her life over again without us. I was sent away, not because I used my witch powers but because I was an inconvenience to my mother." Sara said as everyone looked at her and stayed silent. "I'm sorry." He said. "It's okay, you didn't know." Sara said. "Well, you're always welcome to come stay with me during the holidays, my parents wouldn't mind." Hannah said as Sara shared a sly smile. "Thanks." She said as Hannah put her hand over hers. "Me too, we'll be your family." Bette said. "Thanks guys but I'll be fine." Sara said. "Sara, we'll be your therapists. It's not healthy to keep it in and that's why a diary is so important. I have an extra one if you need it and I'll give to you when we get back to our room or I'll put it on your desk when you need it." Edith said. "It's just been hard to do anything without my dad. I missed a lot of school days and my mother, she flipped when she got the letter to appear before the school board and honestly, I didn't care about it anyway." Sara said. "Parents don't understand why their children go through the grieving process for so long. Sara, I understand your pain because I lost my grandfather who raised me because my parents chose drugs over me, so my grandfather took me in when I was a child and I called him dad sometimes." The boy said. "It's been hard but I was going to therapy and she was helping me through it but my mother thought I was going there too much and not talking to her, so she called my therapist and told her I was better, which clearly I'm still missing my dad. He understood me and my mother was never there. I mean the woman chose drugs over me as a child up until I was thirteen and she almost died because she took something that was laced with something else. She's not a mother and the woman is a chain smoker too. My dad worked so hard and that woman never gave him any credit and I will never pick her over him. He raised and she's done nothing for me but give me anxiety and depression that will probably last a lifetime." Sara said. "I heard there's a therapist that comes here every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Maybe she can help you, if you need someone to talk to." Hannah said. "I might just do that." Sara said. "Do we need to make an appointment?" The boy asked. "I would go by and ask." Edith said. "Let's just make the best of this year and all be friends because we all could use it. Let's make a pact and stick together because everyone as this table has something to get off their minds. I think friendship and therapy is what we all need because it's important for our mental health and if we can talk and get some help, then let's get through it." The boy said. "Let's all go to therapy, it will help us all." Hannah said. "I think it will too." Sara said as she took a bite of her sub.

...

Stevie was looking out the window, just staring into the night. Her students were in their rooms as she felt like today was a success but she still worried. Mick walked in as he looked at his wife, he knew something was wrong because when she was down or worried about something, which was always, she'd stand by a window and look out as Stevie heard his footsteps along with Sulamith's nails walking across the room. "Mick?" Stevie questioned. "Yes angel?" He asked. "Did today go well for us?" She asked. "Yes angel. We had a good day and you did amazing as always." Mick said as he came over and wrapped his arms around her. "Then, why do I worry so much?" She asked. "I used to do that all the time, well I still do." She said. "I worry too but as long as we have each other, there's nothing we have to worry about." He said as she smiled. "That makes me feel better but something always goes wrong. No matter what we do, I mean we got married eight months ago and don't get me wrong, I love you and I'm happier than I have been in a long time but I feel like something is going to happen because something always happens to me when everything in my life is going great." Stevie said. "I know baby but maybe fate lead us here, it makes sense and we finally get to be happy. We deserve that, you deserve this and whole lot more." Mick said as Stevie looked at him. "I've been thinking a lot about something and I know it's crazy but seeing these young men and women made me think about what our future." Stevie said as Mick looked at her as she sat down on the bed with him in front of her. "What about our future darling, tell me what's on your mind? "I want us, I want this new life, thinking back to when we were in the band, I said some really terrible things that I didn't mean and then you told me that you still loved me after all these years, it really shocked me but in a good way." She said as held her. "I will always love you angel and no matter what, I'll be by your side." He said as she kissed him. "I just needed to be reassured that I'm not going crazy. That we made the right choice to open up this school." She said as he put his hands on her cheeks. "You're not crazy baby and we made the right choice, I mean this is amazing." He said. "Okay, I agree with you for once." She said. "Unless, you're thinking about going back to the band or putting out another solo album." He said. "I don't think so, I miss them but after our last album together, we knew that would be it. I could put out another solo album but right now, I just want to run the school and maybe we can put on a show for them. Just a private concert with just our students but then, I would have to call everyone and that sounds like a lot of work and I don't have the energy to go through that." She said. "No one wants you to tire yourself out and if this is what you want to do, for now or forever, then I fully support you and I'll stand by your side the whole time." He said as she smiled. "Making an album is not fun anymore, like you go into the studio, you'll endorse a lot of money into it and then, go on your and it feels the same way. Being on stage is the only time I feel like I can be someone but making an album is not fun. Like I said, we can host a private concert for our students but that's all we're allowing. I don't want a bunch of people showing up because they'll start drinking and doing God only knows what else and I'm not allowing that here." She said as he shook his head. "I get what you're saying and I agree with you but it was only the first day and we have nine more months until the school year is over with. This is going to be crazy but exciting as well and let's just make the best of everything whether it's good or bad." He said. "Okay." She said, kissing him again but this time he pulled her gently on his lap as she started kissing his neck.

...

After they made love, Stevie laid in his arms as she smiled at him and skimmed her hand up and down his chest. "What's going on in that pretty mind of yours?" He asked her. "I can't tell you that." She said. "Are you having a crystal vision?" He asked as she got up and put on her robe. "Yes and I keep those to myself, we may be married but sometimes, these thoughts are written into my journal because it sounds better on paper than it does coming out of my mouth." Stevie said as she opened the door. "Where are you going?" He asked her. "To get a snack out of our kitchen, if you hurry, we can eat that little pint of cookie dough ice cream and some german almonds together." She said as he looked at her with a funny look on his face. "I thought you only ate vanilla?" He questioned, getting up out of bed and putting his clothes back on along with his robe. "I have other tastes too but I thought it looked good when I went to the store yesterday." She said as they walked out of their bedroom and into the kitchen.
