Chapter Twenty-Seven: Weak

After walking the streets of Beacon Hill at night, thing of my past and what the future had instead for me and my friends, had me slightly on edge. But I was pulled back to the drama that is Beacon Hill via a text message from Derek saying to meet him at his hideout. Like a causal hookup...

I had arrived before Derek and Scott. Vampire speed for ya... Minutes went by and Scott and Derek came through, and to the old train cart that I was leaning against.

"I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal," Derek states as he moved closer to the cart and going inside, Scott and I on his tail.

"Ugh, I get it. We can't save Jackson," Scott replied, his face staring off out of the cart as Derek had sat himself down on a row of seats.

"And whoever is controlling him is blocking themselves from my magic," I state, as eyes went to me. "All I could see in Jackson's mind was shards, like broken glass, his mind lost," I trailed off, as it was kind of sad. Like he was losing himself every time he transforms into the Kanima.

"We can't seem to kill him either," Derek states, no victory in our search for a way to save Jackson. "I've seen a lot of things. I've never seen anything like this," Derek scoffs in defeat as he looks away from us. "Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger,"

"But how do we stop him?" Scott states, as he still had hope for Jackson. I smiled at his determination to save his fellow class mate.

"I don't know," Derek began, shaking his head as his eyes went to Scott who leaned on a pole. "I don't even know if we can,"

"Yeah, maybe we should just let the Argents handle it," Scott replied, but the Argents would kill him if they couldn't help him.

"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault," and within that moment, the big bad Alpha, wasn't the big bad Alpha, he was just a human being.

"No, don't blame this on yourself Derek," I began as I came forward from Scott, kneeling down to his level. "You didn't turn him into this. This was due to something in his past, and you could not foresee that," my hand reached for his hand which laid on his leg.

"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple," Derek states as he pulls his hand from mine and there it was, the sign of the big bad Alpha was back. He still didn't want anyone to see his soft side...

"What do you mean? What are you not telling us?" Scott states as Derek gaze went to him, as I stood back up, brushing the back of my skirt down.

"Why do you think I'm always keeping something from you both?" Derek states as I was back at Scott's side, his eye went to Scott then to me.

"Because you always are keeping something from us," Scott states as we know it was true. Though Derek isn't the most trustworthy person I know, he still has information that could help us.

"Well, maybe I do it to protect you both," Derek's eyes gazed between Scott and I, and that was the truth.

"Doesn't being part of your pack mean no more secrets?" Scott's head tilted down before looking back to Derek, who now looked down as well.

Silence filled the cold air between us, as Derek was processing on what Scott said. "Go home, Scott. Sleep. Heal. Make sure you friends are safe," Derek began as his eyes went to meet Scott. "'Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one," I had the same feeling Derek was having that this full moon was going to end in something terrible.

Scott didn't say a word before he left the cart, my eyes going with him as he went home to rest and heal from whatever happened to him. I turn back to Derek once Scott left my sights, Derek's eyes were on the ground, thinking what to do next.

"Goodnight, Derek," I state to him before I turn around and began to walk out of the cart.

"Wait, Alice," his voice deep and calm. I come to a halt and spin back around to face him. "Thank you for helping us," I gave him a thin smile.

"I did it for Jackson and I still have Hope, that he can be saved," Derek snickered at my comment like Jackson couldn't be saved and this was going to be his fate. But I didn't say anything to him and just left him, leaving the train cart. But I could feel his eyes on me as I left.

Jackson wasn't beyond saving, in my eyes...
There's always loopholes...

.................................................................

School had broken up for Spring Break, and it was Lydia's birthday today. March 16th, plus it was a Saturday and she was hosting a big party for it. I had gotten her a card and a small present, as we've all been avoiding her these past two weeks due to Jackson and that.

I finished placing my knee high heel shoes on as I walk towards the length mirror in my room. I smiled at my appearance tonight. Girllll, I look sicking. In a good way.

I gave a twirl in the mirror as I giggled to myself. This was going to be fun for me, and it gives us all a chance to have a normal life for a night. I gave one final look in the mirror before leaving the master bedroom, and going downstairs.

I grabbed the birthday card from the side, and her present. Which was a diamond bracelet that I had collected from my journeys. It was just the thing I had within the house and though of what she would like.

Lydia's house wasn't far and I would be their in plenty of time. Maybe a bit late, but that's what I'm good at. I smiled to myself as I pushed off on my legs and used my vamp-speed to leave the house and to Lydia's home. I had also had something to bite while I was getting dressed...

I had reached the Martin house in no time. I stare up at the large house from the main gates, I could already hear the music pounding and teenagers chattering among themselves. Late as always. I smirk to myself as I walk with a sass up the path, and made my way round the back to see loads of people talking and drinking the punch Lydia had provided.

My eyes wondered over the pool to see Allison standing by herself with a glass. I moved towards her but was quickly stopped by Lydia, who got in my way. "Happy Birthday!" I state with enthusiasm, handing her the card and present. She smiled a tight one as she handed me a drink.

"Time to party Alice," was her only response as I nodded to her with a smile, as I took the plastic see-through cup off her and took a swing of it. She stared at me for a moment as she was waiting for me to reply.

"It's tasty," I replied with a smile as it was, and before I know it I drank the whole glass. It tasted a bit sweet, at first but when I got used too it, it went down smoothly. Lydia smiled, pleased that I liked it. So, she handed me another topped up cup as she took the empty one away from me, before she walked over to Scott.

I had turned to look at Allison once again, who had now saw me and waved me over like best friends do. I walked with a jump in my step, as I was happy. As I made my way around the pool, a child's laughter echoed in my ear, making me come to a halt, as I took my gaze around. To find no child in sight or the laughter, so I shook it off as I counited to walk to Allison.

"Hey, girl," I state as I was close enough, as I brought her into a soft hug. I pulled back as she gave me a hug back, I took a quick sip of the punch. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," she replied, but her tone didn't sound believable. I cocked an eyebrow up to her but I was cut short as Matt came over.

"Can I speak to you Allison," he asked politely as his gaze was on Allison, she gave him a nod, before his eyes landed on me for a second, before he turned and walked inside the house with Allison on his tail.

I laugh to myself softly, as I took another sip of the drink, which was actually a gulp instead. The bitter sweet taste of the punch lingered on my tongue for a moment. I stood around for a moment, as music pounded and I swayed with the music, something that I don't do often.

Just then, a child's laughter rang out in my ear and made me spin around find the sound of it but there was nothing. Then I heard it again but louder this time around. I stood froze to the spot as I recognised the child's laughter...

The laughter rang out in my ears, making me turn slowly to the edge of the pool. My eyes widened, my breath hitched in fright... Blood dripped from the girls body, claw marks etched into her chest, her hair ruffled like it was ragged around. Fear struck my core, as I began to shake.

"E-Eliza?" I stuttered her name. I haven't spoke her name in centuries and it shook me. She only smiled, creepily,  as blood dripped down her mouth. She began to walk away from the side of the pool, but my legs began to walk, to follow her into the cold night.

As I walked the chilly night, my mind broke into millions of pieces as I was seeing my sister this way. Without even knowing, I was in the woods like I was lost and followed my dead sister around. Eliza came to a abrupt stop, like she just was frozen in time.

Though I told myself to stop in my mind, my legs carried me over to stand in front of her. Tears threatening my eyes, as the little sister I've missed looked at me with a blank expression.

"You killed me..." She spoke in her voice, her blonde hair still ruffled but moved in the gust of wind. His bright blue eyes lifeless from it's colour. "You killed me..." She repeated as I shook my head, as tears left my eyes. I couldn't speak, the shock of it all had hit me. "You killed Mommy and Daddy, too,"

I squeezed my eyes shut, shaking my head roughly at her. "No," I croaked out, barely making a sound.

"You do not want to admit what was in the past. But you did. You are denying the fact that you was not strong enough to face our monster," Eliza began, her voice stayed the same tone, my eyes still squeezed shut as I didn't want this to be true. "Now, your going to do the same with your friends. Your magic is weak," she states, before giggling like a sinister person would do.

Her laughter died down, and it all became quite. "Your the monster now," she whispered into my ear, making goosebumps go along my arms and down my spine.

I snap open my eyes to find she was gone, tears streamed down my face. My vision blurry, but in the back of my mind I could still hear her laughter, and what she spoke was the truth...

I watched as her and my parents were tor apart, froze in the moment, trapped in fear...
