Chapter Twenty-Four: Spell

Night after night. Book after book. I still didn't find anything on the Kanima that we didn't already know. However, I did find a spell that would let me track the person who was controlling him, that was the good side. The downside, however, was that I needed him unconscious to enter his mind. That was going to be hard, getting near him and knocking him out. I think he's becoming immune to my magic as he's getting stronger and forcing his way through it. Might have to up my game...

Stiles was on his own mission, finding more information about the death's by the Kanima, and to see if they really were murderers. Scott, however, was on Jackson watch, as he needed to keep a close eye on him just to make sure he didn't change...

I held my Grimoire to eye level, as my phone just started to beep, meaning a message. The sounds between call and text were very distinctive. I moved the book from my sights and took my eyes to the middle table that was stationed in-between the sofa. From where I stood, I could see the ID of 'Scott' appear on the screen. I squinted my eyes slightly at the phone, and suddenly the phone began to levitate from the table, until it floated in front of me. I shut the Grimoire and placed it on the table as the phone continued to float in the air. I grabbed the phone and unlocked it, as the message appeared from Scott saying: 'Meet me at the Vets, wanting someone else Derek knows.' The message read. Wonderful. I thought, this was not what I was waiting for. But that means I can tell them about the spell I found.

With that in mind, I grabbed my Grimoire and began my journey to the Vets. This was the job of my car...

...................................................

I parked up in a free space in the parking lot of the vets. Luckily, I was here before Derek and Isaac. I got out of the car, grabbing my Grimoire from the passenger side and slamming the car door behind me. I reached the door from the parking lot, Scott walking as I neared the door, like he heard me coming. Well he is a werewolf, so he would have done it. He unlocks the door with the sets of keys, just in time for Derek and Isaac to brace us with their presents. I could smell them from where I stood, and I didn't even turn around to greet them.

"What's he doing here?" Scott had asked Derek, gesturing to Isaac, following him like a lost puppy...

"I need him," was Derek's only response as I entered the front door and into the waiting area of the vets. Derek and Isaac on my tail.

"I don't trust him," Scott states as Isaac passes him and I.

"Yeah, well, he doesn't trust you either," Isaac replies with a cocky tone.

"And Derek really doesn't care," Derek states, cutting the wire -so to speak - between the two werewolves. "Now where's the vet? Is he going to help us or not?" Derek finished off as Scott and I moved and lent against the small fence that separated the waiting room and the back room.

"That depends," our gazes went to the eyes of the vet. "Your friend, Jackson. Are we planning to kill him or save him?" He states, as his arms were folded and he lent against the frame of the arch way that led into the back.

"Save him,"
"Kill him,"

Scott and Derek said in union. Scott's head turned to Derek faster than anything I've seen, his expression wasn't pleased. "Save him," Scott just stared at Derek and I did the same, but I think he noticed me staring as well. His expression looked defeated and didn't want to argue with Scott. Scott had turned back to face Deaton. "Save him," he states one last time and means it.

With that said, Deaton stopped leaning and went into the back and we all followed. Derek, Isaac and Scott stood behind the metal table as I stood at the left hand-side of Derek, but at the head of the table.

Deaton had brought a wooden box over to the table, which was filled with different herbs and other things which were in bottles, with symbols on top of their lids. Isaac reluctantly reaches his hand out to touch one of the bottles. With a blink of an eye, Derek's hand had caught Isaac's wrist to stop him from touching one of them.

"Watch what you touch," his tone was cold to him, as he moved his hand back before he let go of it. I rolled my eyes as Isaac lent on the table, bending his back as he looked up to Deaton.

"So what are you? Some kind of Witch?" He had asked Deaton, making me snicker at his comment.

"No, I'm a veterinarian," Deaton responded after a moment as he locked eyes with Isaac, before locking eyes with me.

"I'm the Witch here hun," I had finally spoken up after getting into the vet. Isaac's eyes went straight over to me, his facial expression didn't quite believe me.

"Don't push her," Derek had spoken up as he locked eyes with me for a moment, as gave him a thin smile.

"Unfortunately, I don't see anything here that's going to be an effective defence against a paralytic toxin," Deaton had said as he placed a bottle back in the box, his eyes casting to all of us.

"We're open to suggestions," Derek had said, his eyes locked with Deaton as he wanted a way to fight the Kanima.

"What about an effective offense?" Isaac had popped up, his eyes glancing over to Deaton.

"No, we are already tired. I nearly took its head off. And Argent emptied an entire clip into it. The thing just gets back up," Derek states.

"Has it shown any weaknesses?" Deaton had asked, curious with the answer.

"Well, one-- it can't swim. Two -- Alice's magic," Derek states, adding me to the conversation, as the Kanima at first was subjective to my magic.

"Um, about that," I began as eight pairs of eyes came my way, staring me down. "My magic is not having full effect on him due to the Kanima being stronger..." I trailed off, as my eyes briefly glanced over them.

"Does that go for Jackson as well?" Deaton had asked.

"No, he's the captain of the swim team," Scott had said, his eyes locking with his boss.

"Essentially, you're trying to catch two people," Deaton began as he quickly turned and went over to a drawer, it opened for a brief second before it closed again as he came back to stand in his position. He holds out a little round talisman of sorts.

"A puppet..." He shows Scott the talisman before moving his hand so the talisman was in front of Derek, Isaac, and I. "And a puppeteer," he states in a dark tone but it wasn't threatening as much as it should have been. He places the talisman onto the metal table. "One killed the husband, but the other had to take care of the wife. Do we know why?" Deaton finished off with a question.

But I think I knew why Jackson couldn't kill the woman. "I don't think Jackson could do it. His mother died pregnant too, and maybe murdered. I think he couldn't let the same thing happen to someone else," I said to the group as they listened to my comment on the matter.

"How do you know it's not part of the rules," Isaac said, his eyes were lost, staring at the table, thinking of the rules. "The Kanima kills murderers. If Jackson kills the wife, then the baby dies too,"

"Does that mean your father was a murderer?" Scott had asked Isaac, but Isaac looked unsure of himself for a moment but that washed away.

"Wouldn't surprise me if he was," was his only reply to the matter of his father. I had heard what happened to him, and I don't feel sorry that he's dead, hitting your children is never the answer to anything.

"Hold on." Deaton states after a moment of silence as he was also thinking. "The book says they're bonded, right?" Deaton asked as his gaze went to me as I simply nodded my head to his question. "What if the fear of water isn't coming from Jackson, but from the person controlling him?" Deaton states. This got me also thinking about the bond between who's controlling Jackson. "What if..." Deaton had grabbed a bottle from his little wooden box and opened its lid. "If something that affects the Kanima..." He began to pour the black mountain ash onto the metal table but around the talisman. "Also affects its master," he came full circle with the mountain ash.

"Meaning what?" Isaac quickly states, as he didn't have a clue Deaton was on about but I knew where this was going.

"Meaning we can catch them," Scott states, his eyes locked with Deaton as he nodded his head for a second. "Both of them,"

"And with that," I quickly added to the back end of Scott's sentence. "I have a spell," I placed my Grimoire onto the metal table, making a slight noise when it made contact. I flipped the page open to the right spell.

"What does it do?" Isaac had asked, making me shoot my gaze to him.

"In simple terms, it will allow me to track the person who is controlling Jackson. Downside though, I need him unconscious to do it," Though behind Scott's eyes, there was already a plan forming...
