Chapter Thirty-Two: The Void

(Reminder of Outfit)

Night had approached rather too quickly once again, but the game was still on. However, I didn't go straight to the game, because I needed to unblock my magic, and believe in myself.

I sat in the living room of my house, my red leather jacket placed at the back of the couch. A white tall candle, sat in the middle of the table in front of me, my eyes locked on it. This was a simple fire spell to do, I've done it millions of times.

My focus on the candle didn't go, but the tip of the candle didn't light. I narrow my eyes, forcing my will to lit the candle but it didn't work. I huff in frustration as I looked away from the candle. This isn't going to work, something mentally is blocking me from performing magic. Maybe it was that night I saw my dead sister, it still haunts me to this day...

The more I thought about my sister, and my parents, the more upset I began. I tried not to cry, I tried my hardest to be strong, but were all weak and that isn't a weakness it's an emotion.

"Dearest Sister, I'm so sorry," I speak weakly, my voice filled the air as I spoke. "You should have not been taken from this world, and it's all my fault," the flood gates opened, tears roamed my face freely.

"I should have stayed and fought to protect you, but I was scared and selfish. And when I came back to the house, I found you all mauled to death, I cried for hours and wouldn't let go of your body," tears fell from my cheeks and onto the ground. My speech rose and fell with the sadness inside. I took a shaky breath as I blinked, the wetness from my eyelashes had touched my stained cheeks.

"I cannot forgive myself for the actions I didn't take and what happened after all this time, but I have hope you are in a better place with our parents," I breathed calmly, as I look up to the ceiling like I was looking to the heavens above. "Eliza, dear sister, I will never forget you,"

Tears still streamed down my face, but a sort of weight lifted from my chest, making me feel better within. Though the pain still lingered of their deaths, that will never go away, but I've always going to live with that.

I took a deep breath, as I wiped my tears away, and looked back at the candles and began to focus. I narrowed my eyes again to will the candle to light, but moments passed and still nothing happened, but I made peace with that.

Suddenly, the feeling of dread and fear had hit me and my face scrunched up in confusion. "Alice! Alice!" My name was being yelled in my head, and the voice belonged to Erica. Her tone scared and helpless, she needed help.

I quickly stood from the couch, and grabbed my red leather jacket and put it on, as I walked towards the front door. I pushed off in my legs and used my vampire speed to leave the house and follow the sense of Erica's worry...

Everything around me was a blur, as I ran as fast as I could. Hoping I would get to her and Boyd in time...

...........................................

It seemed awhile as I looked for them, I was using my super hearing to find them and brief feeling of the magic coming from the necklace.

I wondered the woods, until I heard heaving breathing and fresh blood. I followed the trail until I came to an wide open field, there were trees surrounding it but the middle was a huge opening. My eyes glance to the ground to see Erica with an arrow stuck within her leg, but she snaps the arrow near the tip and threw the piece away.

My gaze glazed over to the person Erica was looking at, and my eyes widened as I saw her... It was Allison, holding her bow with an arrow in ready to fire at Erica. Without a second thought, Allison had let go of the string of the bow and the arrow flew through the air. Erica gasped and turned away, but the arrow didn't hit her, Boyd came out of nowhere and caught the arrow. Erica wiped her head back around to see Boyd, he started to stand from catching the arrow, his eyes glowing yellow.

Allison had gotten an arrow ready, and shot it at Boyd, which it pierced his stomach. I winced as I know what's it like to be hit with arrows.  Boyd growls at Allison, but she shot another arrow but this time it hits his leg, as he holds his leg in pain, but he wasn't showing it. Allison shot another, as it hits his shoulder, all I could do was watch, without my magic I couldn't stop her, and they weren't ready to know about my other side.

Boyd snarls loudly at Allison, but she shot another arrow. Erica began to cry as she just watches helpless. My own tears threatening my eyes. Arrow after arrow, they were hitting Boyd like he was a target.

"Stop," Erica pleaded through her crying. I wasn't going to be an innocent by stander this time, I am not going to make the mistake of running, not this time. I lost people I cared about, and I'm not standing by, to let this happen. Magic or not, I'm willing to fight for what is right...

"Stop! Allison please, stop!" Erica yells through her tears as the arrows kept flying.

I dashed through the clearing, making my way over to Erica and Boyd, but still out of sight. "Enough!" I shout out in the open air, everyone became stiff, and Allison's bow aimed at me, as I picked up my pace.

I stood in front of Boyd and Erica, my eyes focused on Allison. "Enough, Allison," I pleaded with her, her bow still aimed at me, her arrow sat ready to be released any moment.

"Your siding with them," she sounded dark and not pleased with my current position.

"I'm siding with the right people," I state strongly, her gaze with dark and strong.

"Out of the way Alice, your not the one I want," she replied, her bow still on me, but her heart picked up.

"You'll have to shoot that arrow then, because I'm not moving," I state strongly to her, my eyes testing her will to shoot me or not, to get what she wants.

It was like slow-mo, she had released the string between her fingers, and the arrow shot out. Though I was accepting death today, while it wasn't actually going to keep me dead. I knew I was protecting Erica and Boyd. My eyes stayed on Allison as I prepared for the arrow to hit me, I held my breath.

Once the arrow got close to my chest, I didn't feel it pierce the skin or enter me. Allison's face looked shocked as she lowered her bow. I looked down to see the arrow inches away from my chest, froze in place.

I start to smile and tear up... I have my magic back. I laugh softly and quietly to myself.

I focus on the arrow, and it started to burn at the tip, before the full length of the arrow set on fire, and disintegrated into ashes. I look back up at Allison, I know she's hurting about her mother and grief makes you do terrible things, I know personally.

"I don't want to fight you," I state strongly to her, as my eyes locked back to her. She had gotten another arrow ready. She let go of the string between her fingers and the arrow whistled out and went straight for me. I quickly waved my hand out to the incoming arrow, and the direction of it went side-ways, hitting a tree instead of me.

But she ready another arrow in it's place, she let it go once again, but this time the arrow caught on fire and disintegrated straight away before it could hit me. Before she had a chance to load another arrow, I lifted my hand into a fist and she began to choke in her place. She dropped the bow and I narrowed my eyes at it and it broke in half before it hit the ground. She held her hands to her neck as she started to choke, trying to catch her breath.

"I'm sorry Allison, but you left me no choice," I state as I kept my hand in the air. Just then a shot rang off, and a stabbing pain was generating from my leg. I lost focus and the spell over Allison disconnected and my fist jolted as my hand relaxed back to normal. Allison dropped to the ground and started to choke and have a coughing fit on the ground.

I look to my leg to see a small length dart syringe sticking out. I bent down and pulled the dart out as I began to feel dizzy. Chris and the other two hunters came out from the treeline and went over to Allison to make sure she was fine. I blinked slowly as I felt the dart started to take effect.

"What have you done to me," I state to Chris as he made his way over to me. I feel to my knees, as the effects began to take over.

"A tranquilliser dart," his voice trailed off, as my eyes began to close, not having the strength to keep them open. I was too weak to stay up right, I fell to the side, and my eyes closed. I felt my body connect with the floor, and then my mind went numb and I was out for the taking...
