Chapter Seventeen: Protector
I took a few steps forward, still on the porch of the house, my eyes gazing between Derek, Boyd, Isaac and Erica. "You don't know that," my voice gently said. "You didn't even believe I was real until the other day. So, how would this be any different?" I asked, my eyebrow raised to him, as I kept my distance. But the others looked confused on what I had just said, meaning Derek hadn't told them.
"It's her and I'm here to stop her," Derek's voice turned cold. "Get out of the way or help. That's what you do, isn't it?" Derek shot at me, he pulled the 'Witches help' card. I bit my bottom lip and nodded to him, sort of agreeing with his statement.
"You're right, I do help," I began, my eyes locking with just Derek. "That's why I'm going to protect Lydia. Even if I have to fight you," my eyes narrowed to him. His expression turned sour - so to speak - as my answer wasn't the one he wanted to hear. I turned on my heels and headed back to the front door, knocking on it, letting Stiles and Allison know I was ready to come back in. "You don't want to be on my bad side Derek," I said without even turning around to make eye contact with him, but loud enough for him to hear.
The door swung open a bit, allowing me to slip in and making Stiles blot it back up once again, putting the chair there. To be honest that wasn't going to do much, but it's there for his comfort. I turn to face the now secured door, Stiles and Allison looking at me with amazement in their eyes.
"I have balls," I spoke with a smirk tugging on my lips, as I walked forward and grabbed my Grimoire from Stiles's hand, as he was left speechless with my comment. I flipped it back open to a random page, before reading the contents over, before flicking through the aged pages.
Moments passed, as I found nothing in the Grimoire that could help us in this predicament as nearly all of the spells require some sort of personal item from the intended subject. I huff in frustration as I slam the book shut, making Allison and Stiles shift their eyes to me.
"I can't find anything to protect Lydia without her knowing what's going on," I stressed to the two, as I ran my right hand through my blonde hair, my left holding my Grimoire tight.
I cast my gaze to Allison, who's expression was clearly thinking back to something. "A Cloaking spell?" Allison had asked me, clearly remembering what I had shown her.
"A cloaking spell would work, but then that would make her look guilty of being the Kanima," I pondered the idea to Allison as she then realised her idea was sort of a stupid one.
"I got an idea," Stiles had now butted in, making us take our gaze to him. "Just shoot one of them," he said as he turned to look outside then back to us, as I moved closer to Allison, who peered outside herself.
"Are you serious?" Her voice didn't sound too sure of that plan of Stiles.
"We told Scott we could protect ourselves, so let's do it. or at least give it a shot, right?" Stiles insisted to Allison as she had her crossbow, parting the curtain to have a look at Derek and his pack.
"Okay," Allison had finally said, as she thought of shooting one of them.
"Look, they don't think we're gonna fight, so if one of them gets hit, I guarantee they'll take off. So just shoot one of them," Stiles states, knowing that it was true, if one of them would get shot, they would go as they don't think we will fight.
Allison slowly parted the opening of the curtain, taking her gaze outside. "Which one?" She asked, wanting advice on this matter.
"Uh... Derek... Yeah, shoot him, preferably in the head," Stiles replies to her question, making me roll my eyes at him, as he still hasn't learned about werewolves.
"Scott could easily catch an arrow, Derek definitely will be able to do the same," I replied to Stiles, my tone slightly sarcastic, implying that it wouldn't do any good.
"Okay, uh, just shoot one of the other three then,"
"You mean two," Allison replied, not looking at Stiles as she looked out of the window, making me peer over her shoulder, resting my hand there as I looked out of the window.
"No, I mean three," Stiles replied, as I gulped back the lump in my throat.
"Where the hell is Isaac?" My voice carried through the hall, as I looked to the left and to the right of Derek, Boyd, and Erica, finding no sign of Isaac anywhere. Allison began to back up, making me backup as well, raising her crossbow to the window.
Before I could comprehend anything, I was forcefully grabbed by the shoulders and flung to my right into the next room, going with a 'thump'. I lost grip of my Grimoire, as it flew across the wooden floor. Just as I recovered, Allison was thrown next to me, a few inches away. I propped myself on my elbows as I saw Stiles be flung across the other side, making him go into the living room, taking the carpet with him.
I hear Isaac growl from here, before he could do anything, I shot my eyes to the left, and he followed suit, making him be thrown behind the couch. I stood to my feet in a flash -without any vampire speed- to see Stiles look at me with a gratitude in his whisky coloured eyes.
I walked back into the hallway, but before I could reach Stiles, Isaac came out of nowhere and swung his clawed hand to me. But I quickly ducked his attack, his eyes glowing their bright yellow colour.
"Don't do this Isaac, I don't want to hurt you," he snickered at my comment, as I slowly stood. His eyes never leave mine. "You asked for it," and with that said I punched out my right fist to him, hitting him right in the face, his head flowing backward with the force of the punch. Before he recovered, I ran to him like a rugby player does and tackled him to the ground. Luckily, Stiles had moved out of the way so he wouldn't get squished. Isaac was now on his back left dazed for a moment, as I was on top of him, holding down his clawed hands at the side of his head.
I turn my head over my shoulder to look at Allison. "Go see if Lydia is all right," I spoke to her as she ran up the stairs. Isaac tried to force his way out, making me shoot around to face him. His eyes glowing yellow, his teeth extended to sharp points. I used all my strength even my vampire strength but because I hadn't eaten I was losing my hold on him.
With one quick strong push from Isaac, I was flung from him, I was in the air for a few moments before hitting the wooden floor with a bang. Making me dazed for a moment. It was like the roles were reversed, Isaac had now jumped onto me, using his weight to keep me grounded, his clawed hands holding me by my wrists, pinning me down.
"Who's on top now," He laughed with a deep voice, making me just smirk at myself. As he stopped and noticed that I was smirking. "What are you smirking about?" He asked plainly, but I didn't answer. With one full thrust of my knee to his private area, he was down for the taking, wheezing in pain. His grip on my hands moved as he dropped to the side of me, holding his parts.
"Luckily, I don't have balls," my voice was laced with sarcasm, as I stood to my feet as he was still in pain with my action. I hear Allison upstairs, I step pass Isaac and jog upstairs. Suddenly, I was caught by my ankle and pulled down, making me just hit the landing of the top. I twist my head over my shoulder to see Isaac holding a grip on my ankle. I tried to shake him off but it didn't work, he yanked my ankle pulling me downstairs. I see Erica pass me on the stairs, a smirk tugging on her lips, as seeing me like this was fun to her. Each of the steps I hit made me more angry. Until I came to the last step and felt the cold wooden floor of the hallway.
"Lydia Go!" I heard Allison yell at Lydia, probably telling her to get to safety. Isaac's let go of my ankle as we were now at the bottom of the stairs. He turned around and growled loudly at me, showing off his teeth for extra effect. I narrowed my eyes at Isaac, and suddenly, he started to scream in pain, his hand threading through his hair, as he gripped his skull in pain.
"Phasmatos Somnus," I said, my eyes never leaving Isaac, and he suddenly drops to the floor, unconscious. I let out a breath, as I titled my head back, thanking God he was dealt with.
"Couldn't you do that to begin with?" Stiles' voice entered my ears making me turn to look at him as he was in the living room.
"Wanted to give him a fighting chance," I chuckled slightly as I stood to my feet. Just then, I heard Scott coming in from the back door, coming through the hallway to see Stiles and I standing over Isaac's body, looking impressed.
"Erica's upstairs," I remembered as Scott gave me a nod before dashing upstairs to recuse Allison, but I had a feeling that she did alright.
Moments later Scott came down with a paralysed Erica. I couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "The door," Scott states, as my laughing came to a stop, as I turned to look at the door and it was flung open by magic.
Scott threw Erica out and then Isaac, both landing at the feet of Derek. Scott exited his house first, followed by Stiles, Allison and I. We all looked down at Derek as we were on the porch. My eyes locked with Derek, his expression looked annoyed that his pack was defended so easily.
"I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott," Derek began, his eyes shifting from mine to Scott's. "You're not an Omega. You're already an Alpha of your own pack," Derek finished off, smiling, but then it turned into a smirk. "But you know you can't beat me," I just wanted to whack that cocky expression off his face.
"I can hold you off until the cops get here," Scott replied to Derek, who's smirk dimmed as Police sirens could be heard in the distance. Derek turned his head to face the sirens, his cocky expression gone.
Just then hissing sounds came from above us, I saw Derek cock his head to the roof to have a look. Footsteps scurried above us, we all ran off Scott's porch, and onto the grass where Derek and Boyd stood.
We all took our gazes to the roof to see the Kanima crawling across, before it stopped half-way and cocked its head towards us all, before roaring loudly. It stopped after a moment before crawling away.
"Get them out of here," I heard Derek speak to Boyd, as I turned to face him, his gaze went to Boyd before locking his light green eyes to me.
Just then I heard footsteps coming onto the porch, making all of us turn to see Lydia. "Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" Her voice was loud as she was scared and annoyed.
"It's Jackson," I heard Scott say, my head turned to the left and passed Allison who was looking back up to the roof.
Jackson's is the Kanima...
Oh shit...
