Chapter 43: Deal With A Demon

*Tobias's POV*

Many say time goes slow in the worst moments of our lives. Those people are right. The last thing I saw was my Ava crying, begging me to stop. But I didn't.

" I love you." I said then I went into the pendant.

The fall from Earth into the pendant was slow. Slow and excruciating. And all I could think about was Ava and all I could hear was her cries, and all I could see were her tears.

All I could see was Ava and then nothing.

I landed with a bang on a cold, pale, blue ground. I expected to be with the others. I expected to be face to face with a coven of angry witches waiting to gut me and wear my organs as trophies.

But I was alone. Terribly and utterly alone.

" Hello!" I called out into the large empty space.

And just as I expected I received no answer.

" Hello!" I yelled again," Please is anybody there?"

I shuffled around the endless room. Calling, begging for somebody, anybody, just anybody but there was no one. I am alone. Completely and utterly alone.

Suddenly a tall hooded figure appeared in front of me. His hood was pulled up past his face. Although where his face should have been, all I could see was darkness I recognized him from my mam's books. I am in the presence of a demon. The demon Beelzebub.

"Beelzebub." I said nodding my head in respect.

" Yes, it is I." His voice was deep and loud. It echoed off the walls surrounding me.

Higher demons like Beelzebub are under many circumstances very difficult to summon let alone trap in a pendant.

All these years people have been wondering how Lizzie's power has grown. And now I know why.

" Why are you here? How did you get here?" I asked.

" Ten years ago your leader Lizzie summoned me privately. While I visited her she trapped me in this pendant and has been using some of my power for the entire time," He explained," But now I have a chance you get out. I am here to offer you a deal."

" And what deal was that?" I asked.

I have to be careful in this situation. When a demon wants something it always came with a price. And the price is never small.

" First I'd like to ask why did you send yourself into this pendant?" He asked.

"It was the only way to keep Ava safe, it was for her own good. My ex-coven can't get to her if I'm here to stop them." I explained.

Hot tears threatened to escape from my eyes. But my pride in sacrificing myself for the love of my life stops the tears.

" Mmm, very noble of you. But I think this act is doing her more harm than good."

He waved his long, bony hands. Loud cries echoed throughout the room,  filling the silence. Then I could hear a voice.

"Please give him back, please! I love him so much and I can't live without him. So please, please give him back. You don't need him I do!" The voice begged while sobbing uncontrollably.

It was Ava. He was right my Ava is suffering. My selfless act to save her is hurting her.

" Please stop I can't listen to this." I begged and the cry disappeared.

"This is my deal. You can leave this pendant. Go back to your Ava and live the mundane life you have always wanted."

" What's the price?" I asked, wiping tears away.

He laughed, a deep, loud laugh that echoed throughout the room, making it tremble.

" You are very clever Tobias. Very very clever." He laughed.

" Thank you," I smiled," Now what is your price?" I snapped.

" The power that rushes through your veins I want it, I want you to give it to me. With that power, I will be strong enough to free us both from this glass prison."

" You have your own power."

" Yes, but it has been depleted over the years. And the power running through your veins, the power of witch and demon is unlike anything anyone has heard of. Your power is exactly what I need."

" I thought Lizzie was joking about me being half-demon." I nervously chuckled.

" That is something for you and your mam to discuss. Now are you going to take my deal or not?"

It wasn't much to think about. No powers and I could have a mundane life. Then I realized that without my powers I wouldn't be the leader and the coven would come out the pendant. Ava will be in danger and I won't have the power to keep her safe.

" If I do that then I will no longer be the leader. The coven would just come out and kill us easily."

" No, they won't young Tobias. Because when you give the power to me I will be the new leader. And I can assure you I will not free them. I was trapped in this pendant and my power was drained and since Lizzie is gone I will punish her coven. I can assure you I will not free them. You and Ava will be safe."

Well, then that settled it.

"Okay, you have a deal." I nodded.

"Excellent."

He grabbed my hand and I instantly felt weak as he drained the power from my veins. It was so fast.

Beelzebub groaned in pleasure as the power entered him. He cracked his neck and smiled. Or at least I think he is.

" Alright let's get you back."

" No, wait I need to talk to my mam. I need to ask her who I am or at least who I was. I need to know."

"Alright." He nodded.

With a snap of his fingers, we were transported to another 'room' where my mam was pacing around.

" Mam." I said, my voice bouncing off the walls.

She turns to me, anger blazing in her eyes.

" You have no right to call me that anymore. You are no child of mine." She snarled.

" That's fine I don't to be your son. I'm just here because I want to know the truth."

"And what truth is that?" She snapped.

" Lizzie told me that my father was a demon. So is that true or was she just making that stuff up?" I sternly asked.

She seemed taken back by my question. She probably never imagined me asking her this.

She paced around a few times taking deep breaths.

" It is true. Your father was a demon but he left hell because he didn't want to partake in torturing people," She explained," He made me promise I would never tell anybody not even any child we would have. I'm not even sure how Lizzie found out." She added.

" Thank you for telling the truth." I mumbled.

" Are you ready to leave?" Beelzebub asked.

I nearly jumped out of my skin, I had actually forgotten he was there.

" Yes."

He reached out with his bony hands and I took one.

" One day Tobias I will get out of here and when I do I will hunt you and that filthy human down and kill you both." Lauren hissed.

" Goodbye Lauren." I snapped.

Beelzebub quietly muttered some spell I didn't recognize.

The room lit up like a million candles. I shielded my eyes as the brightness intensified. All of a sudden we were lurched up and landed on solid ground.
