So I have changed bit of this to fit the story. I do apologise to anyone who doesn't like it but the reason why will become clear.

Chapter 13

Abi and Steve walked into the room where Fury, Maria and the other two were sat around a table. The others all looked at them as they did so. Abi rubbed the side of her neck and looked at the ground. Steve nudged her and she promptly told them everything she could remember and everything that she had just told Steve.

She looked at Steve nervously. "He took my powers." She looked at the ground again. She hadn't told Steve this yet.

"What?" Natasha asked.

"When Zola had us in Russia he couldn't control me. I guess my powers were stronger than he realised. He developed a serum that would block the transmitters that enabled my powers." She explained. "When I noticed who he was I froze and that was the chance he needed."

"Is there another?" Steve muttered. "To bring them back."

She nodded. "But I don't know where. I can't remember the location of the last place we were."

"Well you seemed pretty capable in those old files. So I think we can work with it." Fury said as he picked up a picture of Pierce from a file he had. "This man declined the Nobel Peace Prize. He said peace wasn't an achievement, it was a responsibility. See, its stuff like this that gives me trust issues." He said glancing at Steve and Abi.

"We have to stop the launch." Nat said in a weak voice. She'd lost a lot of blood.

"I don't think the councils accepting my calls anymore." Fury said as he opened the case he had next to him to reveal three targeting blades.

"What's that?" Sam asked.

"Once the helicarrier's reach three thousand feet, they'll triangulate with Insight satellites, becoming fully weaponised." Maria informed them.

"We need to breach those carriers and replace their targeting blades with our own." Fury said.

"One or two won't cut it. We need to link all three carriers for this to work, because if even one of those ships remains operational, a whole lot of people are gonna die." Maria added.

"We have to assume everyone aboard those carriers is Hydra." Fury warned. "We have to get past them, insert the server blades and maybe, just maybe we can salvage what's left..."

"We're not salvaging anything." Steve cut in. "We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick we're taking down SHIELD."

"SHIELD had nothing to do with this." Nick defended.

"You gave me this mission. This is how it ends." Steve shot back. "SHIELD's been compromised, you said so yourself. Hydra grew right under your nose and nobody noticed."

"Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed." Fury exclaimed.

"How many paid the price before you did?" Steve asked.

Fury looked down at the table. "Look, I didn't know about, Barnes." He said noticing the way Abi flinched slightly as she remembered the pain they put him through.

"Even if you had, would you have told us?" Steve asked as he glanced at his sister. "Or would you have compartmentalised that, too?"

"SHIELD, Hydra; it all goes." Abi spoke up.

"Their right." Maria chipped in.

Fury looked at Nat who leaned towards Steve and Abi. He then glanced up to Sam.

"Don't look at me." Sam said. "I do what he does, just slower." Steve gave him an impressed look.

Fury nodded slightly. "Well... It looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain."

Abi slid down one of the concrete walls and put her head in her hands. She got the feeling of Déjà vu as she recalled something she had long since forgotten.

It was after their mother's funeral and Abi and Steve had come back to their apartment with Bucky. Bucky had said something to Steve about not having to do it all on his own and had come looking for her. He had found her on the floor, next to the wall, crying softly into her arms. He'd slid down next to her and wrapped her in his arms. He placed a kiss carefully on her forehead.

"What am I gonna do, Buck?" She asked. "I can't afford this place on my own and Steve can't get a job." She buried her head into his shoulder.

He rubbed circles gently on her back. "I'll help you." She looked up at him. He smiled. "I'll take the spare room. I'll get another job."

She wrapped her arms around him and buried her head back into his shoulder. "Thank you." She murmured.

"Of course." He muttered into her hair as he pressed another kiss to her forehead. "I'm with you 'til the end of the line, doll."

In the present, Abi smiled at the memory. She couldn't have managed without Bucky. Even when her and Steve had nothing they had Bucky.
