Titled Sunlight

It had gone several weeks since the wolves of Jasper had come to our doorstep.
At first, I thought we would be bitter enemies, but it revealed that I could not judge people by how they look or what kind they are. Nytyrth makes all creatures. We are part of the world, whether wolves, dragons, or sea monsters. I shook my head and smiled at Kate, standing beside me on an out-clipping rock standing tall in the forest.
The sun was at our backs, filling us with the promise of a warm summer filled with opertuites and adventure. "will you guys be fine on your own?" I asked, breaking the silence that had fallen over us. Kate seemed to think it over for a moment before she smiled and looked at me "yes, I believe we will. as long as we're together, nothing can stop us from going home" I smiled at her courage. she was indeed a capable alpha and would lead her pack into good times.
"I know you will. I am just scared for what you will find beyond our borders. You might run into more dragons that are not as hospitable as us," I said, thinking about the Poison Tribe just behind a mountain or hill when you came out of the forest. They were known for their temper more than the Fire dragons that once ruled these lands.
Their king Purdoss was hard and cold, never bowing before those of royal blood. He was a steward for the lineage of Poison Dragon Royalty, was withered and old, gone by the age of evolving.
None had seen the royal family since the Great Plague, which scattered all the kingdoms and killed thousands, if not more, dragons of each tribe. It was the turning point for our world that no longer could dragons live in peace with each other. Food had become sacred water even more. Nature was dying, and we only made it worse by attacking and killing each other, spilling our blood on the battlefield's once-pure grass.
The grass was now charged and burnt by the fires that rained down. So many corpses were buried there, the Feild of Sorrow we call it, for it was the fruit and labor of all our sorrows, madness, and more.
"Dazyn?" said Kate, her voice bringing me out of my thoughts, and when I blinked back into focus, I saw her looking up at me with that kind, worried eyes. I flared my spikes and sighed "yes?" I answered, looking away. "you were spacing out," Kate noted, and I flashed my nares, trying to calm my racing heart. "I sometimes do," I agreed. I felt something soft press against my elbow and looked down to see Kate pressing her paw against it "ease yourself; you're as tense as those bows the humans play with," She said, her eyes filled with even more worry than I've seen my mother have for me.
I snorted and stepped away, turning around, and started walking down the cliff and to the soft ground. Kate and I were the only ones in the clearing since the boys had gone off hunting. Ripper and Blue had told them that it was good to travel with some food in your stomach and that they would gladly show them how a raptor hunted. Humphrey and Garth didn't seem like they liked the idea, but they didnt want to be rude toward their hosts, so they agreed and thus left me, Lilly, and Kate alone before dinner time.
Which would lead us to now.
Kate watches as I walk away from her and into the forest, leaving her alone. I usually wouldn't do that, but I am too saddened by my thoughts to return to the happy time. And it only makes it worse that today, Kate, Humphrey, Garth, and Lilly are going to leave.
I hope she'll be fine after we leave, Kate thinks, and she goes down from the rock and heads over to a place in the clearing that gives her shade, so she doesn't have to be cooked by the sun.
Lilly comes up to her sister, nuzzling the golden brown wolf, and lays down beside her. "are you alright?" she asks, noticing her sister's down mood. Kate looks at Lilly, sadness in her eyes. "I fear that Dazyn will fall into sadness once we're gone. She seems like she's grown fond of us," Kate says, and Lilly nods, thinking it over. "Garth and Humphrey seem to like it here too. Those raptors are learning to hunt like them, and it seems they were having fun when they left," Lilly says, and her sister snorts "no, it seemed like they were terrified. Those raptors are a lot stronger and faster than them. They wouldn't stand a chance," Lilly huffs and lash her tail at her sister.
"dont speak like that about Garth!" she hisses playfully "you know he is stronger than Humphrey" that makes kate bristle with playful anger, and she swats her sister on the snout. "watch it!" the younger wolf snaps, and two soon fall into laughing bickering.
Soon enough, though, their friends come back and are stunned by what they see. It is not every time they can see their two sister friends play fight like that. Ripper and Blue exchange glances before the bigger of them step forward and separate the fighting sisters "no fighting in this clearing," he says, sounding deadly severe, which he is. The two sisters stop fighting against his talons and stare at him wide-eyed.
"o-oh! we're sorry!" Kate apologizes, and Lilly nods, making Ripper nod at them before letting them go and walk back to Blue, where his kill lies. It is a chunk of a wild boar they caught. Humphrey and Garth only took bunnies, though, since the caribous they'd seen here were too big for them to feel alone.
"where is Dazyn?" asked Blue, letting his hunk of meat lying on the ground, blood seeping into it. Kate and Lilly look at each other, shrugging "she left," Lilly says, standing up. both Blue and Ripper share nervous glances "to where?" Ripper asks, his red eyes wide. Kate frowns. "I do not know, but I saw her walking toward the great mountain," Ripper sighs, and so does Blue.
"well, let's go. It is not safe to eat here," Blue says, grabbing his hunk of meat. Ripper follows suit, and so do the wolves, and they walk away from the clearing, not noticing the great shape that watches them from above. Two glittering blue-black eyes and a mass of stars.
There are dragons here, thinks the creature, and he smirks. Good, then I was right. Winter owes me a round of fresh fish. And the beast flies away the way he came from, letting the sun shine down again, and all life goes back to its lively nature.
