Bloody Revenge

AN: Sorry for the long wait.

This chapter actually really made me attached to Charlie (not the epic redheaded nerd extraordinaire, the one in this episode). I'm actually going to miss her when this episode is over :(
I put a picture of her on this chapter so you'd know what she looks like.

Piper and Dean knew that Sam would be a little upset about letting him fall asleep, but honestly? Neither of them gave a rat's ass at this point. Avoiding sleep was not healthy. So Piper sat on one of the motel beds while Dean sat in a chair, both researching. Both siblings tried their best not wake him. After all, they had no idea when they'd be able to get him to sleep again.

It didn't take long before Sam opened his eyes, breathing hard. His sister cast a worried glance in his direction, "Sam? You okay, bro?"

"Why'd you let me sleep?" he asked. Dean was worried too but he kept his expression casual, "Cause We're awesome siblings. So what did you dream about?" Piper tried not role her eyes at Dean's attempt of trying to get Sam to talk about his feelings in a 'manly' matter. At least he was trying.

Sam, however, didn't seem to appreciate his efforts.

"Lollipops and candy canes," stated the middle child with a dry sarcastic tone as he sat up.

Piper sighed, "Sam, you can talk to us. We're family." The former college boy paused for a long while before changing the subject, "Did you find anything?"

Piper sighed in frustration over both the hunt and her brother, "Nope. There are no records of anyone who could be our Bloody Mary. Unless you count a guy named Dave, who died from a mirror falling on him." Sam plopped back onto the bed, " Maybe we just haven't found the information we're looking for yet."

The eldest shook his head, "I've also been searching for strange deaths in the area, you know...eyeball bleeding, that sort of thing. There's nothing. Whatever's happening here, maybe it just ain't Mary." Right after he said this, Sam's cell phone rang.

Sam answered and heard someone sobbing on the other side, "Hello?" After consoling the person on the other end Sam told them they would be right there. Piper got up, looking to her brother, "Bloody Mary again?" He nodded, "Sounds like it."

Dean clapped his hands together, "Then lets get going."

-The Park-

They met a sobbing Charlie on a bench in the park. Piper had an arm around the girl, rubbing her back comfortingly as she told them what happened, "And they found her on the bathroom floor. And her-her eyes. They were gone."
"I'm sorry," Sam said, sincerely.

The teen turned to Piper , "And she said it. I heard her say it. But it couldn't be because of that. I'm insane, right?" Dean looked at Sam, "No, you're not insane."

She looked down, "Oh God, that makes me feel so much worse." Sam looked at her sympathetically, "Look. We think something's happening here. Something that can't be explained." His brother nodded, "And we're gonna stop it but we could use your help." The teen looked reluctant, "I don't know if I could..."

Piper looked her in the eye and squeezed the other girl's shoulder comfortingly, "Charlie, you are a smart girl and incredibly brave for someone in your situation. You don't have to do it by any means, but your help could really make a difference."

Charlie wiped away her tears, feeling a little more empowered by the younger girl's words, "Okay, tell me what you need me to do."

-Jill's Room-
Piper and Charlie entered Jill's room. Charlie locked the door and the huntress went to open the window to let in Sam and Dean.

"What did you tell Jill's mom?" Asked Sam as he riffled through a duffle bag he had brought.

Charlie looked at them nervously as they started to get to work, "Just that we needed some time alone with Jill's pictures and things. I told her Piper was a good friend from school, that she was going to be my moral support. I hate lying to her." Piper smiled at her reassuringly, "You did a good thing Charlie."

"Trust us, this is for the greater good," said Dean,"Hit the lights."

The blonde watched them in confusion, "What are you guys looking for?"

"We'll let you know when we find it," answered Dean as his brother took a camera out of a duffle bag, switching it to night vision. The girl still looked confused so Piper explained, "We're looking for things that the human eye doesn't pick up on. The camera will help with that." She made sure not to mention monsters. They were trying to ease Charlie into it. If they were too open with her, it would either make her think they were psycho, or scare her. She really liked Charlie and, although they had made it clear they were searching for Bloody Mary, the Winchesters thought it best to just leave it at that. Going into detail would just make things worse. Charlie didn't need to know everything. She just needed Mary gone so she good have some peace of mind.

Sam point the camera at Dean, who grinned, "Do I look like Paris Hilton?" The two girls in the room chuckled at the joke, both happy Dean was there to give a little comedic relief from the tense situation.

Sam went to the bathroom to film with his own camera, "So I don't get it. I mean...the first victim didn't summon Mary, and the second victim did. How's she choosing them?" Dean as he walked the perimeter of the room with an EMF in hand, "Beats me."

Piper shook her head as she searched for clues with her pocket flashlight which she liked to carry in case of an emergency, "I don't get it, though. Why do people say her name if they know it will summon her?" The blonde teen shrugged, "I think people find it exciting. Or they're just curious as to what will happen. She's paranormal and mysterious. Some people just can't resist the temptation."

Dean looked at the elder girl, "Yeah but why would Jill say it after what happened." Charlie shrugged, "It was just a joke." "We've gotta figure this out before somebody else decides to say it."

Sam went into the bathroom filming around the mirror when he saw trickles of something running out from behind the mirror and stopped in his tracks.

"Hey," he called to his siblings, "There's a black light in the trunk, right?" Piper pulled off her bag, "Lucky for you, I remembered to get it before I headed over here with Charlie." She passed it to Sam and he took the mirror off the wall, setting it on the bed. He peeled off the brown paper off of the back of the mirror and shines the black light over the back of the mirror. The light revealed a handprint, and the words "Gary Bryman."

Piper looked at Charlie but she looked just as confused as they were, "Gary Bryman?" Sam looked at her, "You know who that is?"

The teen shook her head, "No."

-The Park-
Piper, Dean, and Charlie sat on the bench they had met previously waiting for Sam. When he came back, he had found out who Gary was, "So, Gary Bryman was an 8-year-old boy. Two years ago he was killed in a hit and run. The car was described as a black Toyota Camry. But nobody got the plates or saw the driver." Charlie's gasped, "Oh my God."
"What?"
"Jill drove that car." Piper stood up, "We need to go to Donna's. Maybe her mirror has a name on the back too."

-Donna's house-

She was right. On the back of the mirror Donna's dad died in front of, was the name 'Lynda Shoemaker.' They made the mistake of asking Donna about it. "Why are you asking me this?" the teen asked heatedly.

Sam gave her a sympathetic look, "Look, we're sorry, but it's important." Although she answered the question she said it defensively and with a vicious tone of voice, "Yeah. Linda's my mom okay? She overdosed on sleeping pills, it was an accident, and that's it. I think you should leave."

Dean tried to get her to answer a few more questions, "Donna, listen."

"Get out of my house!" She screamed before dashing upstairs. Charlie was horrified, "Oh my God. Do you really think her dad could've killed her mom?" "Maybe," answered Sam truthfully.

Piper cut in hopefully, "But, it could've been a complete accident for all we know. We don't have all of the facts."

The blonde nodded glumly, "I think I should stick around."

"All right. Whatever you do, don't-"

She interrupted Dean's warning, "Believe me, I won't say it."

-The Motel Room (Night Time)-

"Wait, wait, wait," said Sam," you're doing a nationwide search?"

Dean didn't look up from the computer screen, "Yep. The NCIC, the FBI database-at this point any Mary who died in front of a mirror is good enough for me."

The younger hunter shook his head, "But if she's haunting the town, she should have died in the town." Piper hung upside down on the edge of one of the beds, "I dunno Sam. It isn't a bad idea. It won't hurt anything."

Dean grinned triumphantly at his little brother when their sister took his side, "Yeah, unless you got a better idea-"

The brunet cut him off, "The way Mary's choosing her victims, it seems like there's a pattern."

"I know, I was thinking the same thing."

"Yeah, both of Mary's victims have secrets involving someone else's death."

"Right," said Sam, "I mean there's a lot of folklore about mirrors-that they reveal all your lies, all your secrets, that they're a true reflection of your soul, which is why it's bad luck to break them." Dean started to catch on, "Right, right. So maybe if you've got a secret, I mean like a really nasty one where someone died, then Mary sees it, and punishes you for it."

"Whether you're the one that summoned her or not," Added Sam.

"Take a look at this." On Dean's screen was a picture of a woman lying by a mirror in a puddle of blood. He printed out another photo for them. It was a picture of a handprint and the letters 'Tre'. Sam analyzed the photo, "Looks like the same handprint."

Piper read over the information on the screen, "Her full name was Mary Worthington-an unsolved murder in Fort Wayne, Indiana."

The Winchesters met up with the Detective from Mary's case under the guise of journalists. Piper held a pen and a small pad of paper in hand. Not only did it help sell there disguise but she found writing down notes of what was said could come in hand when they were trying to piece everything together. They were currently in the man's office, questioning him on Mary's case.

"I was on the job for 35 years-detective for most of that," started Fred, the detective, as he paced around the room, "Now everybody packs it in with a few loose ends, but the Mary Worthington murder-that one still gets me."

Piper's eyes softened at that. She could relate to that. Hunting had the very same burden. And she could see that the man was haunted by the Mary's case. "What happened?" She asked.

The detective looked at them up and down, as if trying to decide if he should trust them, "You kids said you were reporters?"

Sam was quick to prove that they had actually done their research, "We know Mary was 19, lived by herself. We know she won a few local beauty contests, dreamt of getting out of Indiana, being an actress. And we know the night of March 29th someone broke into her apartment and murdered her, cut out her eyes with a knife."

The retired detective nodded sadly, "That's right."

Dean looked at him meaningfully, "See sir, when we asked you what happened, we wanted to know what you think happened."

After glancing between the siblings, the older man relented, "Come with me." The trio followed him down the hall and into an old filing room.

"Technically I'm not supposed to have a copy of this," he said, as he opened a file to the picture Sam and Dean found on the computer, "Now see that there? T-R-E?"

"Yeah." Answered Dean.

"I think Mary was trying to spell out the name of her killer."

The huntress looked at him in surprise, "You know who murdered her?" She'd been sure that the identity of her killer was a complete mystery.

The detective shook his head, "Not for sure. But there was a local man, a surgeon-Trevor Sampson. And I think her cut her up good." He took out a picture of Trevor and showed it to them.

"Why would he do something like that?" Sam wanted to know.

"Her diary mentioned a man that she was seeing. She called him by his initial, 'T'. Well," he continued, "her last entry, she was gonna tell 'T's' wife about their affair."

Piper winced at that. That was a classic murder motive. She looked at the photo, "Other than the possible motive, what makes you think Trevor killed her?"

"It's hard say," he paused, "but the way her eyes were cut out...it was almost professional."

Dean nodded in understanding, "But you could never prove it?"

"No. No prints, no witnesses. He was meticulous."

"Is he still alive?" The eldest Winchester asked hopefully.

"Nope." The detective sighed and sat down, "If you ask me, Mary spent her last living moments trying to expose this guy's secret. But she never could."

Sam looked up from the file, "Where was she buried?"

All their hopes of an easy way to solve the problem were crushed when the man told them she was cremated.

Dean gestured to the picture of the mirror, "What about that mirror? It's not in some evidence lockup somewhere is it?"

"No," the man answered, "It was returned to Mary's family a long time ago."

Piper turned to a new page on her notepad and looked at the old man, "Wouldn't happen to know their names, would you?"

-With Charlie and Donna at the High School-

Donna was getting tired of this 'Bloody Mary' crap.

It was bearable when it was just her sister who believed in it but now that Charlie was doing it, she went from annoyed to angry. How dare they try to take her father's death and try to turn it into some sort of ghost story? She should've kicked those guys who showed up to her dad's funeral to the curb when she had a chance. Finally, in the girls bathroom before class, she'd finally snapped. The friends argued back and forth with Charlie desperately trying to get her friend to believe her.

Charlie pleaded with Donna, not wanting her to meet the same fate as Jill, "Please, I know it sounds crazy-"

Donna glared at the blonde harshly, "Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it. I mean it's one thing for my sister to believe this crap, she's 12. But you?"

"Think about the way your dad died, okay? And the way Jill died." Charlie sounded more and more terrified with every word she spoke.

In an attempt to get her friend to see how ridiculous she was being, Donna turned to the bathroom mirror, "Bloody Mary."

"No!"

"Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary." The brunette made a show of waiting for Mary to appear and, of course, she didn't, "See? Nothing happened."

The blonde looked absolutely horrified, "Why would you do that?!"

The other teen looked at the other girl coldly with a ghost of an amused smirk on her face as she shook her head, "Oh my God. There really is something wrong with you." She left the other girl to feel the bite of her brutal words.

Not knowing what's else to do, Charlie headed to class, knowing deep in gut that something terrible was going to happen. Even on edge, the teen didn't notice the lingering reflection on a blood covered Mary lurking in the classroom windows as she passed. She clutched her stack of books tightly as she entered her chemistry classroom.

Half way through the class she picked up her compact mirror she always used to check her make up. Perhaps she had forgotten about her encounter with Donna in the bathroom or maybe it was a force of habit but whatever the reason, she opened the case and saw a pale girl with dark, matted hair and a white dress.

With blood pouring from her eyes.

Charlie screamed and jumped up, casting the mirror aside. She stood away from her desk, breathing hard as her heart pounded rapidly in her chest. Her blue eyes searched the room full of concerned faces as if she were a cornered animal. The worried chemistry teacher tried to make his way over to her. She turned to face the classroom wimdow and saw the same ghostly figure in the reflection.

Another screeched clawed it's way up her throat, causing some of the students to jump in surprise. The teacher called her name as he made his way to her, but his footsteps faltered when the panicked teen lifted one of the barstools at a nearby lab table and chucked into the class, causing it to shatter.

She started to run to the door, but the chemistry teacher took her by the shoulders, "Charlie? Charlie! What's wrong? Just calm down!" For a moment, she seemed to listen and looked into his eyes only to see Mary in the reflection of his glasses.

The blonde shrieked, tears streaming down her face. She jerked out of his grasp shouting, "Let me go!" Before running out of the room in hysterics.

"Charlie!"

-With the Winchesters-

Piper sighed in the backseat of the Impala. She was drawing in her sketchbook as she waited for Sam to get off the phone and tell them what he found out. She was just putting the finishing touches on a picture of German shepherd (one of her favorite breeds of dog) when Sam finally hung up the phone.

Dean glanced at his younger brother, "So?"

"So that was Mary's brother. The mirror was in the family for years, until he sold it one week ago to a store called Estate Antiques. A store in Toledo."

The eldest of the three nodded, "So wherever the mirror goes, that's where Mary goes?" Sam shrugged, "Her spirit's definitely tied up with it somehow."

Piper book her sketch book aside along with her pencil before leaning closer to join the conversation, "Isn't there an old superstition that mirrors can trap spirits?" Sam glanced at her, "Yeah there is. Yeah, when someone would die in a house people would cover up the mirrors so the ghost wouldn't get trapped."

"So Mary dies in front of a mirror, and it draws in her spirit." Dean concluded. Piper shook her head, "But that doesn't make sense. How does she get into all of those different mirrors?" Dean shrugged, "I dunno but if the mirror's the source, I say we find it and smash."

Piper rolled her eyes, "That can't be our answer for everything, Dean. Maybe we should try digging a little more before we-" She was cut off when Sam's cellphone rang.

Sam answered, "Hello?" Piper and Dean traded uneasy looks when they heard sobbing over the phone. Sam looked worried, "Charlie?"

-At the Motel-

They brought Charlie to their motel room, where they knew no one would barge in. Charlie was sobbing and rocking back and forth on the bed as Sam and Dean used bed sheets to cover up the widows. Piper sat with Charlie, rubbing circles into her back. The poor girl's eyes were shut tightly, fearing that when she opened them, Mary would be standing there.

When the brothers were done, Piper prodded her gently, "Charlie? You can look now. We covered all of the windows and there are no mirrors." The frightened blonde looked up slowly.

Sam walked over to her and sat down on the bed, "Now listen. You're gonna stay right here on this bed, and you're not gonna look at glass, or anything else that has a reflection, okay? And as long as you do that, she cannot get you."

Charlie paused for a before meeting his gaze, "But I can't keep that up forever. I'm gonna die, aren't I?" Piper squeezed her arm comfortingly, "No, you won't. Not if you are completely up front and honest with us and do everything we tell you. As long as you cooperate, you'll be absolutely fine. I promise."

Part of Piper acknowledged that that may have been a little harsh to imply that, yes, she could die. But, as a huntress, Piper knew the importance of the victim of a haunting knowing just how much danger they were in. Sugarcoating it wouldn't help Charlie, it would lull her into a false sense of security.

Luckily, Charlie seemed to understand this, "I'll try.

Dean took this as his cue to step in, "All right Charlie. We need to know what happened."

"We were in the bathroom. Donna said it."

Piper couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance towards Donna. She knew the girl hadn't meant harm, but saying it in a public place like that put the entire student population at risk. Donna's dad was in a different room from the girls when he died, but he was in the same building. If they didn't kill Mary tonight, she had an entire school full of potential victims to choose from.

Piper snapped out of her thoughts so she could pay attention to Dean and Charlie.

Dean shook her head at Charlie, "That's not what we're talking about. Something happened, didn't it? In your life...a secret...where someone got hurt. Can you tell us about it?"

Charlie took a deep breath and told them what happened, "I had this boyfriend. I loved him. But he kind of scared me too, you know? And one night, at his house, we got in this fight. Then I broke up with him, and he got upset, and he said he needed me and he loved me, and he said 'Charlie, if you walk out that door right now, I'm gonna kill myself.' And you know what I said? I said 'Go ahead.' And I left. How could I say that? How could I leave him like that? I just...I didn't believe him, you know? I should have."

Piper wrapped an arm around her as Charlie put her face back on her knees and started to cry again. She had known it had to be something like that. Charlie wasn't a murderer. Not really.

*Time Skip*

It was dead silent in the Impala for most of the drive. Piper tried to take her mind off of Charlie crying alone in the darkness of their hotel room by watching the rain fall outside of the car window. She thought about drawing some more but didn't really feel in the mood for it.

Finally, Sam's voice cut through the quiet, "You know, I've been thinking. It might not be enough to just smash that mirror." Dean sent his a questioning look, "Why, what do you mean?"

"Well," Began Sam, "Mary's hard to pin down, right? I mean she moves around from mirror to mirror so who's to say that she's not just gonna keep hiding in them forever? So maybe we should try to pin her down, you know, summon her to her mirror and then smash it."

Piper grinned, "Genius!"

Dean looked less than convinced, "Well how do you know that's going to work?"

"I don't, not for sure." Admitted the younger brother. Piper shrugged, "It's better than nothing. All we need to decided is which one of us is going to summon her."

Sam was quick to answer, "I will. She'll come after me."

That was the last straw for Dean, "Alright, you know what? That's it." He pulled the car over to the side of the road.

"What the hell, Dean?!" Piper protested in surprise but was ignored. The eldest of the three turned to Sam, only slightly ticked off as he ranted, "This is about Jessica, isn't it? You think that's your dirty little secret that you killed her somehow?"

No answer.

"Sam, this has got to stop, man. I mean, the nightmares and calling her name out in the middle of the night-it's gonna kill you. Now listen to me-It wasn't your fault. If you wanna blame something, then blame the thing that killed her. Or hell, why don't you take a swing at me? I mean I'm the one that dragged you away from her in the first place."

At this point, Piper decided to cut, "Dean, I had just as much of a hand in it as you did."

Sam sighed solemnly, "I don't blame either of you."

Piper rounded on him, "Then why the hell are you blaming yourself, Sammy?! Huh? What makes you more responsible for what happened than Dean and I?

"I could've warned her." Said Sam softly after a short beat of silence.

The words were just above a whisper, but they were enough to set Dean off again, "About what? You didn't know what was gonna happen! And besides, all of this isn't a secret, I mean we know all about it. It's not gonna work with Mary, anyway."

The middle child shook his head, "No you don't."

"I don't what?" asked Dean

"You don't know all about it. I haven't told you everything."

Piper looked at Sam, feeling both worried and very confused, "What are you talking about, Sammy? What have you been keeping from us?" She felt hurt and almost betrayed that he was keeping things from them. They were supposed be able to trust each other.

His lips quirked upward, "Well it wouldn't really be a secret if I told you, would it?"

Dean's head reared back a little, surprised, "No." He said sharply with an undertone of stubborn disapproval, "I don't like it. It's not gonna happen, forget it."

"Guys, that girl back there is going to die unless we do something about it. And you know what? Who knows how many more people are gonna die after that? Now we're doing this. You've got to let me do this."

Piper sighed, "He's right, Dean."

The eldest glared, "You're taking his side?" She glowered back, "I'm not taking his side, I'm saying it's our only chance in saving Charlie and, damn it, I say we take it. If Sam thinks he can handle it, he can handle it. If not, we've got his back."

Dean sighed and started the car again.

-The Antique shop-

Piper waited impatiently as Sam picked the lock to the store. As soon as she heard the familiar clicking noise, she was through the door...only to groan once she inside. The entire store was full to the brim with mirrors. Dean followed after her to see what was wrong.

He sighed when he saw the problem, "Well...that's just great." He pulled out the picture of Mary's mirror, "All right let's start looking." Sam took out his flashlight and his sister did the same.

They separated to look for the mirror but made sure not to go too far. Splitting up may work on Scooby Doo, but it was a very risky strategy to use on a hunt. However, it was okay to use in certain situations like this one.

The youngest member of the group felt a shiver down her spine as she walked through the aisles. It gave her an uneasy feeling, like she was walking through a mirror maze at a carnival. She vaguely remembered getting lost in one of those as a child. Getting lost anywhere when you were that little was frightening enough but getting lost in a place like that was downright disorienting. Even though she's pretty sure Mary won't appear until she's summoned, she keeps her crowbar held ready smash any mirror at anytime.

The Winchesters were so focused on their task of finding the right mirror, they didn't even notice the security system attached to the wall. They had no idea that they had accidentally tripped an alarm.

After a few minutes, Dean was starting to get frustrated, "Maybe they've already sold it." Sam opened his mouth to agree when flashlight stopped on a mirror that looked like the one in the photograph, "I don't think so." Dean walked over to him and pulled out the picture again to compare. It was an exact match. "That's it." Dean sighed," You sure about this?"

Sam nodded distractedly and passed his brother the flash light. Piper bit her lip nervously and tightened her grip on the crowbar in her hands as her brother went to stand in front of the mirror.

Sam took a deep breath, "Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary." He hesitated, twisting the iron crowbar nervously in his hands, "Bloody Mary."

Suddenly, a bright light filled the room. Piper cursed under her breath when the security system on the wall finally caught her eye, "Looks like we've got company."

Dean looked at the door and then back to his siblings "I'll go check that out. Stay here, be careful. Watch his back, Pipes. Smash anything that moves."

Piper wanted to protest but Dean was already making his way towards the front door. He groaned in annoyance when he saw the light was coming from the headlights of a car, "Crap." He thought about running back to his siblings, but he knew that that would cause all three of them to be discovered. The only thing he could do is let him self get caught and try and talk himself out of it. If they caught him, they'd assume he was alone. So, with a sigh, he set down his crowbar and went to face the police officers waiting outside.

-Meanwhile-

Sam and Piper heard a noise and turned to look at a different mirror. As soon as they looked away, Mary appeared in her mirror, ready to strike while their backs were turned.

-With Dean-

As soon as Dean stepped foot outside, a blinding light was shone in his face.

"Hold it." Commanded one of the policemen.

Dean, instead of panicking, shot him a charming smile and held up his hands, "Woah guys, false alarm, I tripped the system."

The officers exchanged confused glances, "Who are you?"

Dean went with the only lie he could think of on the spot, "I'm the boss's kid."

The officer raised an eyebrow, "You're Mister Yamashiro's kid?"

Crap.

-Meanwhile-

Mary moved to a different mirror. Sam saw her out of the corner of his eye, "Behind you!" Piper jumped away and Sam smashed the mirror, but the ghost had already moved. Piper cursed and glanced at the door where Dean was, "I think Deans's been caught by security." Sam kept his eyes trained on Mary's mirror as he spoke to his sister, "Go help him out. I've got this."

She shook her head, "No way. You're the one with a target on your head. You need me here."

"I'd rater have you both here. I can hold her off for a few minutes."

Piper sighed, deciding they didn't have time to argue. She smashed one more mirror, where Mary had been lingering, before dashing through the back door.

Sam readied his crowbar, "Come on." He muttered, "Come into this one." Suddenly, his reflection seemed to change. It still looked like him...but it was as if it had taken a mind of it's own. He started having trouble breathing and blood dribbled from his eye. He put his hand over his heart, which was starting to beat in uneven patterns. Finally, he lost his grip on the crowbar mad it clanged to the floor.

He immediately regretted sending Piper away. It was what Mary had wanted all along.

Reflection Sam watched his twin struggle without remorse as he spoke, "It's your fault. You killed her. You killed Jessica."

-With Dean-

"Like I said, I was adopted." Dean lied. The officer nodded, clearly not believing a word he said.

Dean was about to try a different angel when he saw Piper creeping up behind on of the policemen. He pretended not to see her and kept talking so the two men would keep their focus on him, "You know, I just-I really don't have time for this right now."

Piper took that as her cue to attack the first man from behind, knocking him out with the crowbar. Dean punched the second cop twice before letting him fall to the floor. Without pausing for breathe, he rounded on Piper angrily, "You left Sam alone!" Her eyes widened, "He told me to go help you out. He said he could hold her off." He glared at her, "And you believed him?! We'll talk about this later! Come on."

Piper nodded and and ran after him, feeling guilty for disobeying orders.

-Meanwhile-

Sam sank to his knees, agonizing pain coursed through his entire body. But, deep down, he knew he deserved it.

Reflection Sam watched, taunting him as he suffered, "You never told her the truth-who you really were. But it's more than that, isn't it? Those nightmares you've been having of Jessica dying, screaming, burning-You had them for days before she died. Didn't you!?! You were so desperate to ignore them, to believe they were just dreams. How could you ignore them like that? How could you leave her alone to die!?! You dreamt it would happen!!!"

Out of nowhere, Dean came charging forward and slammed Piper's crowbar into the glass, shattering it completely. Meanwhile, the huntress dropped down beside her brother with guilty tears in her eyes. She gasped at the blood streaking down his face, "God, Sam. I'm so sorry. I should've stayed. I should've..." He wrapped his arms around her, "It's okay, Pipes. I'm fine."

Dean helped him up and looked him over, "You okay, Sammy?" The college boy chuckled slightly, "It's Sam and, yeah, I'm okay."

Piper wiped her tears with her sleeve and glared playfully at him, "If you weren't hurt right now, I'd slap you for scaring me like that." He smirked, "I guess we're even then, huh?" She thought back to the last few hunts where she had been a but reckless and relented, "Yeah, okay."

Dean let his brother wrap his arm around his neck to help him walk. Little did they know, this hunt wasn't over yet.

Mary climbed out of the picture frame. Her spirit was now free from the glass that had previously confined her. She stumbled to her feet. Piper spun around, feeling the drop of temperature in the air and the sound of crunching glass. She screamed and her brothers spun around, but it was too late. Mary limped forward and the hunters collapsed to the floor, suddenly overcome with intense pain. Dean, in a moment of either genius or desperation reached out for the nearest mirror and held it in front of him, showing Mary her reflection.

Suddenly, her expression switched from vicious to vulnerable and confused as she fell victim to her own powers. Reflection Mary grinned maliciously. She jeered at her clone with dry, cracked lips, "You killed them! All those people! You killed them!" The ghost began to choke and her face began to morph in to something unrecognizable. The Winchesters watched as she melted into a puddle of blood and disappeared.

Dean threw the mirror he was holding to the ground and it shattered.

For a moment the room was silent. Dean turned to his partners, "That has to be like...what? 600 hundred years of bad luck?" Piper groaned and stood up on shaken legs, "Just what we needed. More bad luck." She wiped off the bloody glass shards from her hands onto her jeans.

Sam chuckled weakly.

*Time Skip*

The next day, the Winchesters were back in the Impala driving Charlie home. The blonde sat in the back seat next to Piper, "So this is really over."

Dean nodded, "Yeah it's over." Charlie smiled, "Thank you, for everything." She hugged Piper, who returned her smiled, "No problem." Charlie got out of the car.

"Charlie?" Sam called and and she turned, "Your boyfriend's death...you really should try to forgive yourself. No matter what you did, you probably couldn't have stopped it. Sometimes bad things just happen."

She smiled faintly and walked alway without a word.

Dean hit Sam's shoulder playfully, "That's good advice."

He started the car and drove off. Piper looked over to her brother, "Hey, Sam? When are you gonna tell us your secret?" Dean nodded, "Yeah, Sammy. Tell us what's up" They looked at him expectantly.

Sam sighed, "Look...you guys are my family and I'd die for you, but there are some things I need to keep to myself." He turned to look out the window and saw a blonde woman in a white dress standing next to a light pole on a street corner. But as soon as they passed her the figure, disappeared. Sam stared at the spot the woman had stood until Dean turned and it was out of sight. He'd recognize that face anywhere.

The woman was Jessica Moore. His dead girlfriend.
