It's been a month since Avni returned home, but she isn't even looking at Neil. Whenever he is at home, she deliberately stays in her room. Neil, on the other side, is frustrated. He badly wants to see her, talk to her, and take her in his arms, but she is making it very difficult for him. He's tried everything to reach her room, but everyone is on Avni's side, and no one is helping Neil.
Neil walks into the house after a long day of work, hoping to catch a glimpse of Avni. He notices her door closed and sighs, realizing the distance between them is growing. He decides to try and approach her room.
Neil knocks on Avni's door gently,
Neil: "Avni, can we talk?"
There's no response. He tries again,
Neil: "Avni, please, let me explain."
Still no answer. Neil feels a pang of frustration and helplessness.
Avni, inside her room, hears Neil's pleas but remains silent. She fights back tears, conflicted between her anger and the lingering love for him. Neil continues to stand outside, desperate for a chance to make things right.
Present:
Neil paced around his office, frustration evident on his face. He glanced at the clock, realizing how little time he had before his next meeting. Thoughts of Avni clouded his mind, and the weight of regret rested heavy on his shoulders. He couldn't focus on the pressing matters at hand; all he could think about was reaching Avni.
Meanwhile, in their home, Avni remained secluded in her room. She flipped through the pages of a novel, her mind drifting away from the fictional world to the reality.
She always has Neil in her thoughts.
Avni's POV: Why is he behaving as if he cares? He did not care all these days, right? Then why now? What does he want from me? I don't want to think about him, but I end up thinking only about him.
Back in his office, Neil's frustration grew. He dialed Avni's number repeatedly, each call met with silence. He needed her to understand, to hear him out, but his efforts went in vain.
Avni looks at her phone beeping again and again.
Avni's POV: Earlier, when I used to call, he never replied. Now all he does is call me. Let him get to taste his own medicine. I don't care.
Avni wonders out loud: Am I being a bad person?
Swetha enters the room at the same time.
Swetha: No, absolutely not. You're giving a very good punishment. Let him suffer. Even though I am feeling bad for him (making Avni guilty), I am happy that he is suffering at the same time. I know I have seen everything with my eyes. I know how much you love him and how much he took you for granted. I know this is gonna happen soon. I never told him anything because I thought my son will himself get to know your worth, but that idiot was late. But never mind, you be like this; he will come on track.
Avni: Maa, I am sorry.
Swetha: Arey chup, what are you sorry for, haan? This is your right to be angry with your husband and be like that. There is nothing wrong with that. But I would suggest one thing: hear his side as well, let him talk once. Hear what he has to say.
Avni: But Maa.
Swetha: Avni, I am not saying this because he is my son. I am saying this because you are my daughter. You both are suffering, bacha. You have suffered a lot. Now you have to be happy. So, to stay happy and out of guilt which u dont have to feel, let him speak, and later, you decide if you still want to talk to him or not. It's okay to be angry, Avni. But don't let that anger consume you. Hear Neil out. Remember, it's for your peace too.
Avni managed a faint smile and nodded
Swetha smiles and kisses Avni's forehead and leaves the room
In the night, Neil reaches home, and as usual, he goes to Avni's room to knock on the door. To his surprise, the door is not locked. With fast heartbeats, he opens the door and sees Avni on the balcony, facing her back to him, gazing at the stars.
Sensing him, Avni says, "Tell me, Neil, what do you want to say to me all these days? Tell me."
Neil becomes happy, and anxiety hits him. He wants to talk so much but doesn't know where to start.
Neil immediately goes to Avni and tries to hug her, but before he can, she moves back.
Neil finally, after many days, gets to see Avni completely. She looks very dull, not the usual charm present in her eyes, and he knows it's because of him. He is ashamed of himself for making her like that.
Neil: "Avni, I don't know where to start from. I am very sorry for everything I did and told. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness for the past mistakes, but trust me, Avni, I have no one else in my life. You are the only one in my life. I... I don't know how to prove that to you. I know I should not have told Mithali anything about us. Whatever she assumed is not correct. I never had feelings for her. I never had feelings for anyone. It is only you, Avni."
Neil's eyes reflect genuine remorse. He tries to reach for Avni, longing to hold her, but she keeps her distance.
Avni: "Forget about other Neils. Tell me one thing, when you hated this marriage and me, why did you marry me? I never forced you to marry me, right? No one forced you to marry me, right? I always thought, even though this is a political marriage, it's also an arranged marriage, and like anyone, we would be happy. I loved you with all my heart, accepted you with everything, and I thought if not immediately after marriage, you would definitely love me after a few days. But I guess I am wrong. I realized that you never wanted to love me. I don't know why you stored that much hate for me."
Neil shakes his head in denial, tears welling up in his eyes, while Avni's tears flow out.
Neil doesn't know how to answer; he is confused himself. Every time Avni says that she did not force him, all he knows is that he was forced into this relationship because she is behind this. He was told that she is on the verge of suicide if he doesn't agree. Only he, Ashish, and Avni know about this.
Neil's Pov: "Why does she always ask me if she forced me or not? Of course, she forced me, right?"
Realization hits, and he widens his eyes
Neils Pov: "Ashish uncle did a grave mistake. I will never forgive you for this, Uncle. But I know I cannot hurt Avni by revealing his doings. I cannot let her know that Ashish uncle told me that Avni tried to commit suicide if I don't marry her. Also, Ashish uncle said that he will not help me with the elections if I don't marry his daughter. I never thought that it could be Ashish uncle's doing, and I always unnecessarily blamed Avni for this. I regret it a lot. Sorry Avni.(Tears flowing out of his eyes)"
Before their Marriage: When Neil approaches Ashish for help to win the elections for the Prime Minister post, Ashish sets a condition that he should marry his daughter, only then he will be able to help Neil in elections. Neil rejects politely, but later, after two days, Ashish cries in front of him and begs him to marry Avni, as Avni tried to commit suicide and is very stubborn to marry him. If Neil does not marry his daughter, he will not help him in elections, and no one will help Neil.
Neil gets very angry and helpless. Neil always wanted to be Prime Minister, following his father's steps and doing something for the people and the country. He definitely needs Ashish's help, and he knows that tying a relationship with Ashish is very beneficial to him. So, he agrees reluctantly to get married to Avni and always curses her for his helplessness.
The balcony witnesses the emotional turmoil between them.
Love you All
