Early the next morning, Neil and Avni got ready, surrounded by lots of security and police.

Avni expressed her frustration,

Avni: This is why I didn't want to come with you. I can't enjoy my trip with all this security. It would have been great if I had gone with Ananth.

Neil, hearing Ananth's name, became angry and jealous.

Neil: Even if I hadn't come, security would always be around you. Don't forget, you're the Prime Minister's wife and are not allowed to go anywhere without security and bodyguards.

Avni rolled her eyes.

Neil stated firmly,

Neil: And about Ananth, I would never send you with him.

Avni retorted,

Avni: I give you no right to stop me from going anywhere with Ananth when you yourself have gone out so many times with your favorite psychopaths Juhi and Mithali, who are after you. Moreover, Ananth is just my friend and my only friend apart from Ali.

Sighing in defeat, Neil apologized,

Neil: Avni, I am sorry for all the things that happened in the past. Please forgive me. I didn't know they were literally psychopaths, and I regret that.

Avni scoffed,

Avni: Yeah right, the great Prime Minister of India didn't know about their nature. How did you even become Prime Minister in the first place, or is it that you forget to use your brain near your girlfriends?

Neil, gritting his teeth, clarified,

Neil: They are not my girlfriends.

Avni challenged,

Avni: Really? Then how come you would defend them always, even when I, the wife, said anything against them? Please don't put words in my mouth now, Neil. You always treated them as your girlfriends and me as your trash.

Furious tears welled up in Avni's eyes, and Neil remained silent.

Neil gently wiped away her tears as Avni tried to move away, but he cupped her cheeks.

Neil: I know I behaved very wrongly with you, but trust me when I say this, apart from you, I have never seen any other girl in a wrong way. They were just friends for me, nothing else. Yeah, maybe I thought they were nice people and were my best friends, but nothing more than that. You will always be my priority, Avni.

Avni removed his hand and turned her head to the other side.

Avni: I was never your priority, and for you, I am always the wrong one.

Neil sighed and tried to reassure her.

Neil pleaded:  Avni, please don't cry. I never wanted to make you cry again and that too because of me. I am sorry for being an asshole to you, and I truly regret it a lot. But please understand that no one is more important to me than you.

Avni remained silent, feeling a mix of happiness that Neil was making an effort, yet uncomfortable seeing him plead like this. She can never see him pleading or sad even when she is very angry at him.

They reached their destination, and even though Neil tried to talk to Avni during the journey, she replied in one-word answers, and Neil didn't push further. After a while, she fell asleep.

Neil woke her up,

Neil: Avni, get up, we have reached.

Avni woke up and found herself sleeping on Neil's shoulder, tightly hugging his hand. She immediately jerked up and moved away from him, feeling embarrassed.

Neil, annoyed by her actions, pulled her closer

Neil: You very well know that you don't have to feel embarrassed about your actions. I am your husband, Avni. You can be however you want with me.

Avni breathed heavily due to the proximity. Meanwhile, there was a barrier between the driver and the back seat, so the driver wasn't aware of what was happening.

Neil : Never again move away from me. I cannot tolerate it, cupping her cheek and bringing her even closer.

Neil tried to kiss her on her lips, but Avni moved away, and Neil sighed in disappointment.

Her college mates had already reached the location and were allocated to their rooms to freshen up. Avni and Neil were going inside their allocated room. She knew that here she couldn't be adamant about being in another room. At home, it was different, but here she couldn't do that, considering Neil's reputation.

Avni and Neil were having breakfast at the Vip's lounge. Avni wanted to be with her friends, but at the same time, she couldn't. Sometimes she wished to live a normal life like others, but she knew she couldn't. She was ready to sacrifice her normal life if that's what Neil wanted – the prime minister post.

While having breakfast, Ananth tried to approach Avni but was stopped by their security. Avni noticed and asked them to let Ananth go.

Neil, witnessing the interaction, got angry at Ananth.

Neil's Pov: Can't he leave us alone?

Ananth greeted: Hi, Neil ji.

Neil nodded sternly, making Ananth fearful.

Avni : Have you had your breakfast?

Ananth : Yes, just now. After this, we have to go to XYZ place and start our documentation.

Avni nodded. 

The whole day, Avni was busy with her project work and documentation. Neil and the security were always around her, but they did not disturb her. Many times, Neil wanted to yank away Ananth from Avni, seeing their closeness, but he managed to control himself.

Later in the evening, everyone went back to their rooms. They had permission to roam around the place and have fun.

In Avni and Neil's room:

Avni goes first to refresh , after she comes out of washroom

Neil : Avni, will you go out with me?

Avni was surprised to hear that.

Avni : I made plans with my friends. I cannot.

Neil looked disappointed

Neil: Oh, okay.

Neil went inside the washroom to freshen up, and by the time he came back, he couldn't find Avni, making him furious.

Neil : This girl. How many times should I tell her that she cannot go alone

He called Avni's bodyguard and asked him about Avni's location. He learned that she was at a nearby beach and left to find her.

Neil found Avni with her classmates and tried to go near them, but he stopped himself and let her enjoy herself alone. Every few minutes, he looked at her and saw her smiling and laughing, enjoying with her friends.

Neil thought to himself, "It's okay, Neil. Let her enjoy today. Tomorrow, you both can go out and spend some time."

Later at dinner time, she came back with everyone.

The next day was the same. Avni and Neil were both busy with their work on their phones and laptops. In the evening, when they returned to their room:

Neil : Avni, we will go out in some time. Please don't go anywhere. Today, we will spend some time.

Avni didn't say anything, but she was very happy that Neil was putting in effort. She appreciated that he took time for her and came here, adjusting without any tantrums. He was being the ideal man she always wanted.

Yesterday, she was sad seeing his disappointed face. No matter how much she tried to distance herself or feel differently, she couldn't. She loved him way too much, and she didn't want to disappoint him now. She nodded in agreement, making him smile. Avni smiled back, seeing him happy. He quickly kissed her forehead and went into the washroom to freshen up.

While waiting for Neil, Avni noticed Neil's phone ringing. At first, she ignored it, but it kept ringing repeatedly. She decided to pick it up but was disheartened to see Mithali's name on the screen. Tears welled up in Avni's eyes, and in fury, she stormed out of the room without thinking.

Hey, guys. "The Wife" is coming to an end. I'll try to wrap it up in a few chapters. I feel like the story isn't interesting anymore, given the lack of comments and votes.
