A Familiar Sunset

Donna rushes over, sitting by the woman's side. "What the hell did you do?!"

"She isn't dead." The Doctor replies blankly.

"Well, thank god for that! I thought that you'd suddenly turned into a psychopath or something! So what? -She just fainted at the sight of you ontop of her, is that it?"

He gives her a look of disdain. "Donna, she could be on their side for all I know. All this could be a set-up. I-I'm the last Time Lord. She can't be. She-she just can't."

"But what if she is?"

"Well, I'll soon find out. I'm reading her memories and putting her to sleep so she can't close any off from me."

"Oi, that's a bit selfish?!"

"Not if it saves everyone."

Love. Flashes of love. That's how it started. She didn't run away, she didn't descend into madness, and she wasn't truly inspired by the sight of the stars.
She knelt and made a wish.
From then, a name was made for her. The Creator. Almost everyone upon Gallifrey knew her, and her true love was found. Later, along with a son and a younger daughter.

But then came the Daleks. And the age of the Time War. Her children had died through the first few drafts. It was her fault. Or that's what she believed. Through devastation and sadness, but determination, she carried on. News caught about The Doctor's plan, and the Creator's husband tricked her into taking the last fighter pod, locking it's destination to Earth. And leaving himself to die.

She felt the wave of heat and watched the flames, with her sonic paintbrush as her only company. A red mark appeared on her wrist. It was the sort of mark you got when you wore a watch tightly, for a long time, then suddenly took it off. Except this one would never fade away. Unlike the sunset of Gallifrey.

She travelled around Earth, trying everything to not be discovered as the last Time Lord. Then she heard about The Doctor, and his adventures of saving London, multiple times, and rather than searching for him, she tried her best to hide. She didn't care if that meant both of them being very lonely. He deserved it. He killed the last of her family. Months later, the Squelette found her specimen and attacked her. She lost her sonic, and by now she had given up. She didn't want anyone to find her; especially The Doctor. But he did anyway. Then it didn't take a lot of persuading to stay alive.

He releases her, knowing now who she really was, and knowing that she re-lived all that pain again from the dreams he forced upon her. The Doctor felt ashamed and angry at no-one but himself.
"I was right wasn't I? I can tell by your face." Donna comments.

"Not now, Donna." He mutters, walking away.

The Creator wakes up, sudden tears streaming from her eyes. She stares at him with a hurt expression. "Are you happy now?" She chokes.

"I am...so, so sorry." He says quietly, looking down in dismay.

"No, I should be sorry! Obviously my word wasn't enough!"

"Look...I can help you."

She pulls her sleeves down over her thumbs. "I don't need your help." She trembles. "Why would I want help from my husband's murderer?!"

The Creator turns away from The Doctor, who steps forward cautiously. "Because my family died too."
She looks up at him. Their faces echo the same pain, the same heartbreak. Then finally they understand.
"I......I'm sorry."

"So am I. Truly. What I did was...wrong. I did it to end them, to end the war-even when I knew that it would kill everyone, then I stole a TARDIS to save myself." He takes a deep breath to stop himself from welling up with tears. "And now, everyone I've took with me on my path of redemption, I've lost. Except from you, Donna-you're a good cookie."

"Thank you." She says, flicking her hair back proudly. She grins at Ruby. "You would never believe it, I parked my car right next to him! I told him-I told the Doctor-'It's like destiny'!"

"I'll bet." She sniffles.

Donna walks over to her, and rubs her arm consolingly. "I understand too. Not in such drastic measures, obviously, but...my father left. He went to a better place. But I have Granddad, so, yeah. I'm okay."

This earns a smile from her. "I don't usually like humans, but The Doctor's right. You are a good cookie."

"Can we all just kiss and make up now, then?"

"Er...what?!" "Ugh, Donna!"
