Chapter Nineteen - Reunion
Everyone at the control panel had fallen to the floor by the blast of the time ripper exploding.
Laura had her body covering Dean and as she slowly got back up, she looked to the feed, desperate to find Wade or Logan on it but the screen was static.
Paradox stood and exhaled, relieved. He spotted the angry faces of the X-23's and coward under their gazes. Just as they were about to speak (or pounce), his head cocked at the sound of footsteps marching down the stairs from the street above.
A full regiment of TVA minutemen descend, followed by the leader - a black woman named B-15. She looked angry. Serious. She took in the scene around her.
"Paradox. You've been busy."
"Well, somebody had to be."
B-15 looked at him skeptically, "We had some strange readings from this location. You wouldn't know anything about an unsanctioned Time Ripper would you?"
"No, no. I wouldn't know anything about an unsanctioned Time Ripper. Maybe you should ask Cassandra Nova, because I was assured she was safely held in the void. But no, she was here...and she fondled my brain! How did you let this HAPPEN??"
"You weren't involved at all?"
"In stopping her, yes. Yes I was." He got all emotional, lying through his teeth. "But not nearly enough. Not as much as the men who went down there after her. My men. My friends. I warned them that they would be completely obliterated. But they went anyway. Like heroes. Because that's who they were."
"You're so full of shit." Dean growled.
"You're the one who allowed Cassandra here in the first place!" Laura snarled. "You had a pact with her! You wanted to destroy this timeline!"
B-15 raised an eyebrow at Paradox. "Is that true?"
"No!" He scoffed, spluttering with wild hand gestures, "These kids are just upset. They've just lost a man with their father's face on so they're just being emotional!"
Laura's claws came out while Dean's teeth started to curl up from his lower lip in anger.
Laura panted with rage, eyes filled with tears. "If it weren't for you, we wouldn't've lost him again."
"They just did what they had to do, with no concern for their own safety." Paradox tried turning it around. "The fact that we are all still standing here is a testament to their heroism." He looked at the Howlett kids, a small smirk on his lips that he quickly hid. "And there's nothing you or I can do to bring them back now."
Laura and Dean looked like they were about to skin Paradox alive -- but luckily for him, a voice stopped that from happening.
"He has risen, baby girl!"
Wade fucking Wilson.
"FUCK!" Paradox yelled.
Everyone watched as Deadpool and Wolverine came out from the wreckage. Their suits were torn and dirty. Logan's bare torso out for all eyes - and believe you me, people were gawking.
Wade had his arm linked with Logan's, skipping along like he won the lottery. "Found your new Anchor Being!"
"And we're doing just fine, you piece of shit." Logan growled.
A TVA staffer, his eyes glued to Logan's stomach, muttered, "Fine indeed..."
Deadpool grabbed the TVA jacket that was slung on the back of the chair and tossed it to Logan. "Alright, put your greasy tits away you preening slut."
"Jealous?" Wolverine smirked as he put on the jacket.
Wade gaped at him.
"I don't understand." Paradox said, stunned. "How are you two still alive?"
Wade grinned, "You were right. One of us would have been killed. But you put a Deadpool AND a Wolverine together? Make 'em hold hands while listening to Madonna. Indestructible, motherfucker."
Dean ran to Logan, jumping up and hiding into his neck as he cried, body racking with sobs. Logan looked shocked but held him tightly. He looked at Laura. She had tears streaming down her face but stayed where she was, frozen. It was like she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Logan offered her his hand. The offer made her choke on a cry and she too jumped into his arms. He held the kids to him, not wanting to let them go. It's unbelievable how sudden, how strong these feelings were. He's known these two for not even forty-eight hours and his heart was already theirs.
Wade watched the hug with a soft smile. But that smile disappeared when B-15 spoke.
"Those X-23's need to go back to where they belong."
Logan looked up in stunned anguish. "W-What?"
"They don't belong here."
"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa." Wade stood in front of the three Howletts. "These kids have lost everything. If you take them back to their timeline, they will have no one. You can't split them up."
B-15 sighed. "It's not just up to me."
"If you take them away, you'll have to take me with them." Wade placed his hands on his hips, "These three need each other. And I need them too. Not just because they're heroes..." He looked at them from over his shoulder. "But because they're family." Logan smiled at Wade, eyes misty. Laura and Dean poked their own looks from Logan's shoulders, they looked grateful, hopeful. He turned back to B-15, holding his wrist up to her like she was about to handcuff him, "So take us all in, officer."
"Nope! No! No!" Peter came running in, unharmed but a little winded. "You can't take them. They're heroes. Like me."
"And you are?"
"PeterPool. But you can call me Peter." He looked her up and down and gave a flirtatious smile. "And I hope that you do."
Peter looked deep in B-15's eyes and she looked swooned.
Paradox noticed the growing tension. "What the FUCK is happening here?!"
Paradox was then grabbed by the Minutemen.
B-15 pointed at him, face stern, "You are under judgement for operating an unsanctioned Time." She nodded to her officers. "Take him."
"I was just doing what you don't have the GUTS to do-- GET YOUR INSOLENT HANDS OFF ME!" He screamed as he was taken through a time door.
B-15 paused, thinking for a moment, then assessed the heroes that were still huddled together.
"I'm grateful, gentlemen." She nodded to Laura, "Lady."
Deadpool took a bow, making Laura and Dean chuckle.
"Let's hold the bows. You led three omega-level mutants to this timeline..."
"You're welcome." Wade said.
"...and you three shouldn't even be NEAR this timeline." She glanced at the three Howletts.
"They're welcome." Wade said.
B-15 looked at Peter, "And you...look damn good in that suit."
"I'm so sorry." Peter was lying. He wasn't sorry.
A beeping noise alerted her and she quickly checked her handheld device. She looked amazed at what she found. She smiled at the heroes. "I want to show you something. Something huge..."
"That's what scoutmaster Kevin used to say." Wade whispered. Logan rolled his eyes at the comment.
B-15 showed them her screen. It was a wavy line that was growing strong and bright. "Do you see that? Your universe is regenerating. Whatever you did here...you not only saved your world, you spared your timeline from extinction." She regarded them warmly. "I'd rest up. I have a feeling your work is only just getting started."
Deadpool, whispering to Wolvie, "Until you're ninety."
Logan huffed and asked B-15, "So..." He nodded to the two X-23's in his arms, "They can stay... with me?"
"With us!" Wade corrected.
B-15 smirked, "If they chose too."
Laura hugged Wade while Dean nodded against Logan's shoulder.
B-15 then went to leave but Wade spoke out again. "Wait. We couldn't have made it out of the Void without some help...from some people that the world kind of forgot. Is there any way that you could maybe find a way to bring them home?"
B-15 tried to hide it, but she was impressed with Deadpool's heart. She smiled gently. "I'll see what I can do."
"This might be an educated wish." He winked at Wolverine. "But I promised my friend here that the TVA could undo some pretty awful shit in his timeline. What would you say to that?"
"Change the past?"
"He did help me save the world."
"And his past made him the man who did it. There's nothing to fix, Mr. Wilson."
"Guess you're stuck with us." Wade teased Logan then after a quiet pause, asked, "Schwarma?"
Logan's face looked amused and relaxed. "I could eat."
