Chapter 5: Some Assembly Required
I own nothing
Chapter 5: Teamwork
It was a quiet and peaceful morning on Arus's surface. Most of the team were still sleeping away the recent battle and recharging for the next one. (Y/N) tossed about on the bed as she unconsciously searched for the source of cuddles and warmth that was no longer there. She opened her eyes regretfully as she needed her teddy bear of a boyfriend in order to sleep. Luckily for her, she caught her boyfriend in mid change in all his glory and Owlen curled up at the foot of the bed. He smiled at her.
"Morning beautiful. Sorry, did I wake you up?" She yawned.
"Kinda. I thought I made it clear I need someone to sleep with or I can't!" He walked over and kissed on the lips. It was quick and warm and (Y/N) was just glad she had proof her relationship with Takashi had not been affected in the slightest by his Galra imprisonment. Breaking the kiss, she looked carefully at him.
"How long have you been awake?"
"Not too long," his voice went a little higher as he said this, his obvious tick when he was attempting to lie. The smaller female crossed her arms.
"Takashi..." He rubbed his head in embarrassment.
"Ok ok, you got me. But to be fair, most of the time, I was just holding you. You looked like a little kitten nuzzling up to me," (Y/N) felt her cheeks on fire.
"Oh, shut up," He laughed and turned away to finish getting dressed, aware of his girlfriend's heated starring.
"See something you like?" She smirked.
"No, just something I never get tired of seeing,"
(Timeskip)
Eventually she got up, much to Owlen's annoyance (little guy bolted off to find a quieter place to sleep), and started helping her boyfriend with his morning workout routine.
Translation: sitting on Shiro's back and keeping track of the number of pushups he did.
She groaned.
"I used to do this with my brothers. Of course that was back when I was 11 and I weighed, how did they put it: 'less then a bloated watermelon?'" Shiro laughed.
"They must be pretty lazy then. To me, you don't weight anything, but that's probably because you're fun size-ouch!" He yelped as she gripped his ears.
"Unless you want to see what I've learned from years of troublemaking under Martha's watch, I suggest you cut back on the short jokes," she tugged again for emphasis.
"OW! Ok, ok, I yield! I surrender," she let go of his ears.
"Good. Also, never let Jack catch you saying half the things you said or I'll never hear the end of it! It is not wise to bruise the ego of Jack Atlas...unless you're Crow," Shiro returned to his pushups.
"Have I ever told you your family is weird?"
"Once or twice...a week," he chuckled.
"Well can you blame me? No parents, one blood brother 6 years older, 2 adoptive brothers who are always at each other's throats, and a stray you decided to adopt while the 4 of you were living in a tiny complex not built for 5," she smacked him in the back.
"Hey, say what you want, but who needs parents when you've got the greatest brothers in the world looking out for you. Besides, Bruno may been off kilter at times, but he did give me the idea to become a pilot. So in a way, he's the reason we're dating," Takashi's eyes turned gloomy.
"And the reason you're out here in the middle of a war zone,"
"Takashi, I don't-," her words were cut off by a loud alarm going off and Allura's voice blaring over the sound system.
"Everybody up! Zarkon's attacking!"
(Y/N) slid off Shiro's back and grabbed her bayard.
"Babe, your armor?"
"No time! Move it!" She stated while pushing him out the door.
"The castle is about to be destroyed! Go, go, go! We need Voltron now! Hurry! We can't survive much longer!" Allura screamed over the speakers. Considering (Y/N) didn't hear any explosions, she had a feeling this wasn't so much an attack, rather a drill. Her suspicions were confirmed when she, Shiro, Pidge, and Hunk ran into the control room only to see Coran yelling dramatically into the speakers about Allura's head being severed. Coran kept going until he finally noticed the team staring at him.
"Oh! Time!"
"I guess this isn't an actual attack," Shiro stated.
"Called it. You owe me ten bucks," (Y/N) joked as Allura angrily stared at them.
"And it's a good thing it wasn't because it took you...Coran?"
"Seventy-Five degrees. Oh sorry! No, this is a meat thermometer," Allura was a bit bewildered for a second before turning back to the group.
"However long it was, it was too long! You must always be ready to do battle with Zarkon," she stomped over. "Look at you! Only Shiro is in uniform and only (Y/N) has her bayard!" It was true: Keith and Pidge we're still in their normal clothes, Hunk had pjs like (Y/N), and there was not one bayard among the 3. "And where is Lance!?"
At that moment, the Cuban boy strutted into the hub in blue lion slippers, robes, with facial cream sparkling around his face. He yawned.
"Good morning everybody. What's going on?" (Y/N) facepalmed and Allura was unamused.
"Coran and I have been up for hours getting the Castle back in order. We had to run a test on the alarms, and we decided to test you as well. Guess which one failed," (Y/N) stepped between the Alteans and her team.
"Allura, I get it, we have to start preparing. But everyone here needs a rest first. We only just managed to survive an attack and that's just after an unexpected departure from our planet," Hunk yawned and began to argue as well.
"Plus, you got to sleep for 10,000 years man. Monday night, I was on Earth! Now I've flown through space, fought some evil alien named Zarkon, eaten goo in some weird castle. That's a lot to process in Um... I don't know, what day is it?"
"It's the third quintant of the Spicolian movement. Hump day!" Coran answered. Hunk deadpanned.
"It's a lot to process," Allura didn't seem to want to hear arguments.
"You must understand the stakes of our mission. Over the last 10,000 years, the Castle picked up distress beacons from the following locations," the map appeared and almost everything began turning red. "So we have to assume that Zarkon has conquered almost the entire known universe," the map moved, showing the Milkyway Galaxy. "Earth is here. An attack on your planet is inevitable,"
"Oh no," Hunk said as the Princess continued.
"Exactly. Our mission is to free all those planets. Coran and I are getting the Castle ready to leave Arus. During that time, you have to learn how to form Voltron, so we can begin fighting Zarkon,"
"The Princess is right," Shiro agreed. "Let's get to our lions and start training," Pidge interrupted.
"Wait! But I want to talk to the prisoners we rescued from the Galra ship!"
"Negative number 6!" Coran stated. "I have you ranked by height, okay? The prisoners need to remain in the cryo-replenishers until tomorrow,"
"That's right. Now, get to your lions," Allura ordered.
The group split off into their individual hanger elevator after picking up their uniforms and hopped onto the zip lines. To (Y/N) it felt like a great rush and it made actually getting to the hanger more thrilling and got her blood pumping, especially hopping into the pod which loaded directly into her Lion. She clutched the controls.
"Ready girl?" The lion roared to life and burst out of the hanger, the Black, Blue, Green, and Red Lions all following behind. They landed at the bridge and began waiting for Hunk who had yet to arrive.
"Uh, should someone go in after him?" Lance asked just as the Yellow Lion finally flew into view.
"Hi, sorry everybody!" Hunk apologized. "Seriously, though, can't they park these things, like, a little closer to the bridge?" The Yellow Lion fell into formation with the others.
"All right, guys," Shiro grabbed everyone's attention. "Let's just fly in tight formation until we're totally in sync,"
"I don't think it'll be that simple Shiro," (Y/N) argued.
"Maybe, but it's the best we got," Allura appeared on the monitors.
"Feel the bond with your lions and your fellow pilots until 6 become one unit and you form Voltron!" This pumped everyone up as they took off.
"Yeah!" The group flew together in formation, swooping in the air, cheering.
"3..2..1," (Y/N) counted in her head as the group became less and less enthusiastic.
"Am I the only one still pretending to be excited?" Hunk asked.
"Told you this wouldn't work," (Y/N) directed at Shiro who sighed.
"Alright. Clearly, this isn't working. Let's set down for a little bit,"
"Maybe we should be building Voltron from the ground up," Keith suggested.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, let's try literally building Voltron,"
"Like stacking the lions on top of each other?" (Y/N) asked.
"Exactly,"
"Like a cheerleader pyramid?" Lance mocked.
"You got a better idea?" Keith challenged.
"I say it worth shot," the White Paladin stated. Shiro nodded.
"Let's give it a try,"
The group stacked up their lions: the Green and Blue Lions on the bottom, the White Lion on top of them, the Red Lion across on the White, the Black Lion hanging off the red one, and the Yellow Lion on top for whatever reason.
"Hunk, what are you doing?" Shiro asked.
"What do you mean?"
"You're supposed to be the leg over there, sweetie," (Y/N) stated.
"What? No, no, no, I'm pretty sure when we did it last time, I was the head. Right?"
"You yelled 'I'm a leg!'" Lance retorted.
"Yeah, I was yelling a lot of things,"
"Shiro's the head," Keith said, obviously getting frustrated.
"All the time?"
"That's what Allura said: Black Lion's the head," (Y/N) rebuffed.
"Let's just try it my way for now," Shiro interjected.
"Okay, but next time I call head,"
Eventually, the team reformed the pyramid in the correct order and Shiro mounted the Black Lion on top.
"Ok, channel all your energy into forming Voltron! Focus. Focus. Focus.... is everyone bonding and focusing?" Nothing happened and there was no spark.
"Why was this so much easier before?" Lance asked. (Y/N) answered.
"We were in the midst of battle and...I think it's us not being on the same page,"
"Let's just take a break," Shiro suggested. Allura suddenly jumped into the conversation.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I may be able to help,"
"We're all ears Princess," the oldest female answered back.
"Yesterday, you weren't able to form Voltron until you were in the heat of battle," Everyone agreed.
"Perfect! Because I need to run a diagnostics test on all of the Castle's defenses. This should help!"
"Wait what?" (Y/N) quickly questioned as the barrier was put up. "I think we should start running!"
"Why?" Pidge asked. The Castle then started firing lasers and (Y/N) immediately got the White Lion moving.
"War games tactic! Move it!" Explosion started happening all around them and the other pilots were quick to follow the White Lion's lead. Screaming of course.
"Allura! What are you doing!?" Keith demanded. She seemed to not understand the problem.
"Running a diagnostics test on the defenses and inspiring you! I believe in you Paladins! Let fear be your guide! Form Voltron!"
"This isn't how war games are supposed to work Allura!" Shiro yelled, remembering the training back at the Garrison. Lance suddenly broke away from the group.
"Forget this! I'm heading back to the Castle!"
"Wait Lance! The-," (Y/N) tried to warn before the Blue Lion bounced off the barrier. "Barrier..." the Blue Lion skidded to halt in the dirt.
"Please stop!" Hunk pleaded. "Please! Have mercy on us!"
"You think Zarkon is going to have mercy on you?" Allura argued. "He's probably on his way right now to destroy us all!"
"Woman! You're gonna kill us long before he gets here!" (Y/N) screamed back angrily as she and the team spent the next few hours dodging the continuous fire. Eventually the barrier and weapons finally went down, letting the team scramble back inside in case it started again. Everyone slumped in the common room's couches. (Y/N) fell next to Pidge as Owlen jumped into her lap for pets.
"I'm all for war games, but that was just reckless!" Pidge nodded in agreement as the two stroked the fox to calm down. Allura then walked in with Coran.
"You did it! You formed Voltron!"
"No," Keith corrected. " the shooting stopped and the particle barrier shut down, so we just flew in," the Princess was definitely not happy with this answer.
"What?"
"Oh, right. Sorry, Princess," Coran sheepishly stated. "I had to turn off the Castle defenses to test the fire suppressors," Shiro then walked through the doors on the other side of the room, still with his helmet on.
"What are you guys doing in here? We're not taking a break!" He insisted. His girlfriend's seemed to make him simmer down a bit, Owlen's hissing helped.
"After dodging continuous fire for two hours, we are entitled to 5 minutes Takashi," she didn't usually call him by his first name around others unless she was really mad. Allura sided with Shiro.
"Shiro's right. You should be training!"
"We've been training!" Hunk whined. "When are we going back to Earth?"
"I'm not going back until I find my family," Pidge stated firmly. Shiro stood in front of them.
"Guys, there won't be an Earth if we don't figure out how to fight Zarkon,"
"Besides, going back now will only make Earth a target," (Y/N) pointed out.
"But how are we going to fight?" Lance asked. "We can't even figure out how to form Voltron!"
"Well I'm not surprised," Coran interjected. "You know, the original Paladins fought hundreds of battles together, side by side. They were like a pack of yalmors linked at the ears,"
"Well there we have it," the White Paladin stated while lying back. "We're not a real team yet. I couldn't even get Lance, Pidge, and Hunk to work as a team back at the Garrison,"
"Hey!" They yelled angrily.
"Am I wrong?" They went silent as Coran continued.
"During the last attack, your survival instincts forced you to work as a team, but that will only get you so far. You'll have to become a real team to have any chance of forming Voltron and then beating Zarkon next time. You should try working out on the training deck.
"There's a training deck?" Hunk asked.
(Owlen curled up on the couch Timeskip)
"Two, two, one, two," Coran was testing the communication lines on the training deck while Owlen sat on the control panel. "Okay, listen up, guys. The Paladin code demands you put your team members' safety above your own. A swarm of drones is about to attack,"
A hatch opened up as the drones flew in.
"It's up to each of you to do everything you can to protect the other members of your team," the drones circled them as everyone got their shields out.
"Wait, wait, wait. What's going on?" Hunk tried to clarify.
"Here they come," (Y/N) warned as the drones began firing. Hunk ducked so the drone ended up hitting Pidge who fell through a hole. Hunk was then hit with a laser and also fell into a hole.
"Protect your teammates!" Coran insisted. "Or no one will be there to protect you!"
"Circle up!" (Y/N) called out. "Cover each other's backs!" The remaining 4 moved closer together to make it easier to block the lasers.
"Time to increase intensity!" Coran said as the drones began moving in a blur and firing at incredible rates. The group struggled to block the shots.
"You keeping up over there, Keith?" Lance taunted.
"Just concentrate on keeping me safe," he shot back. (Y/N) growled.
"Not the time boys!"
"I own this drill!" Lance insisted. "He's the one who needs to concentrate," the drones began firing at their feet. Lance dodged a blast which made (Y/N) dive in to save Keith, only for her to get hit from her side and fall through. The guys didn't last much longer, making Coran groan and grip his head. Owlen mimicked him with his paw.
(Mice riding Owlen Timeskip)
After everyone got out of the pit, Lance was placed into a maze which sprang up from the ground.
"To form Voltron, you must trust each other," Coran explained. "This ancient Paladin maze will teach you that trust. Your teammate can see the walls, but you cannot. So listen carefully. If you touch the walls, you'll get a slight shock," Lance nodded and put on his helmet.
"Wait who's guiding me through?" Keith then began calling out directions.
"Take 2 steps forward,"
"Oh no. Not Keith! Why does he get to be the man on the mic? Can't (Y/N) do it instead?"
"Actually, this was my suggestion," she answered back with her snow fox content in her arms. "You 2 need to learn to trust each other arguably the most,"
"Now, just sit tight. You'll get your turn," Coran assured him as Keith was given the commands again.
"Like I said, take 2 steps forward, turn right, and take 3 steps in that direction," Lance turned right only to walk into a wall and shriek in pain.
"You did that on purpose!"
"You're not listening,"
"You said 'turn right,'"
"But before that, I said, 'Take 2 steps forward,'" Lance growled and took 2 steps forward, again in the wrong direction, and hit another wall.
"We're switching places right now!" The White Paladin groaned and smashed her face into her pet's fur.
(Yawning Owlen Timeskip) ((Seriously, don't be shy to draw up how you think this guy should look because I can't))
The team was back in their lions, flying once again in formation, when Coran spoke.
"You'll never be able to form Voltron unless each of you has a strong bond with his-,"
"Ahem," (Y/N) subtly coughed which made Coran double take.
"And her lion,"
"No problem!" Lance cheered. "Me and Blue are best buds for life, for real,"
"Perfect! Then you won't have any issues with this exercise. Everyone, put your lions into a nose dive!" The pilots followed the command and began diving towards the surface.
"This is an expert level drill you really shouldn't attempt until you've been flying for years, but, ugh, we're in a bit of a rush so here we go. Activating training helmets!"
The visors on everyone's helmets went black, blinding each member of the team while their vehicles were still plummeting to the planet's surface. Lance screamed.
"Coran, what's happening!? I can't see!"
"You must learn to see through your lion's eyes," the mustache man explained. "The goal is to pull up right before you crash into the ground. Feel what the lion feels!"
"Mine feels scared!" Hunk cried before pulling back up.
"You still going Keith?" Lance challenged the mullet haired boy.
"You know it. You?" He shot back.
"Going? I'm speeding up!"
"Oh, yeah?" Red and Blue boosted, diving even faster to the ground.
"Must be getting close," The Blue Paladin commented.
"Must be,"
"You getting scared?"
"I'm not scared!"
"Boys!" (Y/N) yelled. "I really think you should-," there was a loud thump as the two lions face planted into the dirt. "Aaaand, they're gone,"
"I win," Lance groaned.
"What was that noise!?" Pidge panicked. "Did they crash!?" She pulled out and ended up hitting the ledge of a cliff. Only Shiro and (Y/N) remained. The White and Black Lions circled one another as they came closer and closer to the ground. The Paladins closed their eyes and began concentrating, feeling the energy moving through their machines and themselves, feeling the rush of the fall, before there were growls and clicks. Suddenly, both pilots could see the incoming surface and at the last second slowed their descent and straightened out their flight paths before zooming off. Still keeping their eyes closed, they weaved through the obstacles in the canyon and flew in sync with each other.
"I think I'm getting this," Shiro announced.
"Me too!" His girlfriend cheer excitedly. Coran praised them.
"Excellent Shiro and (Y/N)!"
(Owlen chewing on a Zarkon plush angrily Timeskip)
The group was back in the training hall once more, now sitting in a circle together with strange devices on their heads. (Y/N) sat centered in the back with Shiro on her left and Pidge on her right.
"The most important part of Paladin training," Coran exposed. "is being able to meld your mind's and focus on one thing: Voltron. Everything else must fade away. This technique will be essential every time you form Voltron. So relax and open your mind. No walls, no secrets between Paladins. Come on everyone, clear everything. Now, focus on forming your lion," Images began flickering in front of each Paladin. Keith had his house in the deserts; Lance had a picture of his family; Hunk, of course, was thinking of food; Pidge, the picture Hunk had taken from their bag; Shiro had a picture of the Garrison with himself, Adam, and (Y/N) standing outside it ((better to build up Adam now)); (Y/N) actually had two: One was a picture of her younger self in a large group of people: a tall black and blonde spiky hair male rubbing her head with a gloved hand with a proud smile on his face, a blonde and an orange haired males punching her arms, a dark skinned woman with dreaded dark locks looking at all four proudly, a blue hair male awkwardly at the side, green haired twins around her age looking excited, and a red headed woman on the black haired male's side. It was a picture of her family the day she was accepted into the Garrison, with a certain blonde's girlfriend taking the picture. The other was, of course, her and Shiro, smiling and dancing. That was from the night they graduated from the Garrison. She blushed remember her and her boyfriend having way too much to drink and it ending with their first escapade in the bedroom ((since I got a few messages about confusion: Shiro and Adam dated for less time and Shiro was diagnosed earlier with his illness; he and Reader got together about 2 years before they graduated and the Garrison training starts young; also a reminder, I don't write lemons but I happily post links to lemons related to my stories)). The images vanished and were replaced by an image of the White Lion.
"Bring your lions together and form Voltron," Coran instructed. The mini lions, minus the green one, pushed towards the center, slowly forming Voltron.
"Good that's it! Work together! Keep focusing! Only one to go!" Pidge was struggling as the image kept flickering and not turning into the Green Lion. Keith peeked an eye at the problem.
"Pidge! Quit thinking of your girlfriend!"
"I wasn't!" 'He' defended. "Hunk was rooting around in my head!"
"I-I thought we were open. You can look in my head hole,"
"Everyone has to be able to look in everyone's head holes!" Coran insisted. Lance smirked.
"I wouldn't mind seeing what kind of things Shiro and teach have hidden," the older pilots stared with blank looks.
"No way in hell Lance," Shiro retorted in an annoyed groan.
"Never gonna happen sweetie,"
"Clear your minds!" The orange top yelled as the team returned to the exercise, this time jumping straight to their lions.
"Good! Almost there. Now form Voltron!" The lions began locking together, forming the automaton.
"Yes!" Coran cheered as the Green Lion was about to complete the exercise, only to flicker back to the picture.
"Pidge!" Lance growled. They grunted.
"I'm done with this!" Pidge then threw the head band off angrily. "Look, I don't like everyone grubbing around in my head!"
"Oh, come on, Pidge," Shiro pleaded. "we're just starting to get the hang of this,"
"I'm just...I'm just tired, okay?" The (E/C) eyed Paladin removed her headset as well.
"I think now's a good time for a break," She insisted. Coran nodded and came down to the training room with refreshments and Owlen who immediately jumped into his owner's lap and began purring.
"You have been working hard," Coran acknowledged before handing each of them a space juice pouch. "Maybe it's time to relax a little," Allura, as if to spite Coran, marched in with the mice on her shoulders.
"What are you doing laying around? You're supposed to be training!"
"Just a bit of rest," her fellow Altean explained. "You know, you can't push too hard," she was not having that.
"What do you mean, 'can't push too hard'? Get up, you lazy lumps! It's time you faced the Gladiator!" (Y/N) leaned on Shiro, finishing her juice.
"Well, this can't end well,"
The training room was cleared, save for the Paladins, who now were all armed with their bayards save for Shiro.
"In order to defeat the Gladiator, six Paladins must fight as one," Coran explained yet again as a staff yielding robot landed behind them. Hunk panicked and began shooting wildly, only for it to dodge and nearly hit Keith who need his shield to protect himself from the blast. The Gladiator knocked the poor boy off his feet and thrust the electric end of the spear into his gut, knocking him out. Pidge charged in with the dagger, only to be deflect and sent tumbling over Hunk. Next came Lance who fired shots from a distance, only for the robot to charge in and hit him, forcing him to fall back as Shiro, (Y/N), and Keith circled from the sides. Lance eventually lost his bayard and was struck in the head. The robot then deflected Keith and struck Lance in the gut. Before it could sweep him though, (Y/N) hooked the staff with her scythe, trying to pull it away from the machine. Instead, the robot pulled her in, trying to strike her, only for her to leap over the staff, block a thrust with the blunt part of the scythe and flip away. Shiro looked at her bewildered.
"It was a rough neighborhood! We all took a ton of self defense classes!" She explained as she moved in to help Keith and Lance, who had been slammed into each other and knocked to the ground. Shiro flanked her and activated his Galra arm. The robot charged Shiro before he froze with a distant look in his eyes.
"Shiro!" Keith jumped and blocked the attack with his sword while (Y/N) attempted to get the Gladiator away from them. Shiro was still frozen and unresponsive.
"Shiro, are you okay?" Keith asked before seeing (Y/N) fly into a wall and the Gladiator knock him off his feet and knocked him into Shiro. As they fell, it finally deactivated and fell over. Allura was, of course, not happy.
"That combat simulator was set at a level fit for an Altean child!"
"What are your children made of!?" (H/C) haired woman finally snapped before groaning and clutching her now bruised gut.
"You're not even close to working as a team, let alone ready to face Zarkon!"
(Nurse Owlen putting bandages on Shiro and (Y/N) Timeskip)
The team was slouched in chairs in the dinning room. Pidge sat next to Keith, who sat next to Lance, who sat next to Hunk, who was next to Shiro, followed by (Y/N) on the end and Owlen laying on the floor next to them. Coran burst in with a tray of unidentifiable substances.
"Ahoy, young Paladins! I've whipped up a big batch of focusing food! After this meal, you'll be forming Voltron six times a movement and twice in the astral conflux!" Everyone seemed happy since exhausting mixed with hunger made even food goo appetizing.
"Smells great Coran. Thanks," Shiro complimented as the others grabbed their forks to begin. Coran then pulled out a remote, which made wrist binders appear, locking the team together.
"Hold the phone!" Lance began to complain.
"I saw a lot of solid individual performances today," Coran stated. "But you're still struggling to work as a team. So, welcome to the final bonding exercise of the day," Hunk began struggling with the locks before looking at the Altean very seriously.
"Coran, I want you to think about what you're doing," he warned.
"This one's a classic. You get to feed each other, like a pack of yalmors!" The team growled at each other in frustration while the (H/C) haired female sighed.
"Come on, Coran. We use to use this supposed 'bonding exercise' to punish cadets that tried to kill each other back home!" Anger turned to confusion as the team looked over at the female.
"And how do you know that?" Pidge asked. Shiro answered.
"Because we were the cadets usually being cuffed. Too bad it only increased the number of times we sent each other to the infirmary," (Y/N) generously raised a spoon of goo to his mouth.
"At least we have a ton of practice," he smiled.
"Why thank you!" Shiro gladly took the offer and did the same for his girl expertly. The others tried to mimic them, but they couldn't managed. Lance knocked the food off Hunk's spoon.
"Ow!" Hunk hissed.
"Sorry," Lance apologized before getting his hand pulled into Hunk's mouth.
"Ew!" Hunk pulled his arm to grab something else, which then pulled Keith's hand into Lance's plate.
"Oh nice. You defiled my food goo!" Keith glared.
"It's your fault! This is ridiculous!" (Y/N) lowered her head in shame since she and Shiro had gotten their fill thanks to their years of practice.
"Do Earthlings ever stop complaining?" Allura growled. (Y/N) rubbed her temple with her free hand.
"As someone who lived with 4 other earthlings, the complaining never truly stops, the topic just changes," Shiro was bit more on the other's side.
"Can't you just give us a break? Everyone's been working really hard today," Keith stood up.
"Yeah! We're not some prisoners for you to toy with, like...like..."
"Like a bunch of toy prisoners!" Lance finished.
"Yes! Thank you, Lance!"
"You do not yell at the Princess!" Coran warned. Pidge rolled their eyes.
"Oh the princess what? We're the only ones out here and she's no princess of ours!" There was a splat as Allura nailed Pidge's head with a lump of goo. (Y/N) knew exactly where this was going.
"Better hope the goo doesn't stain," she whispered before Keith yelled.
"Go loose, Pidge!" The Red Paladin managed throw a plateful of goo at Allura, but Coran deflected it and threw his own spoonful, hitting the other Paladins in the process. Hunk shook off the goo.
"Oh, it's on now," (Y/N) smirked and raised her head, shouting the word she had called many times in her childhood which resulted in many ear tugs from Martha.
"Food fight!" Hunk planted his face in goo and spat it at the Alteans, coating them. It was mayhem from there. The Alteans started firing from the other side of the table, Keith was used as a shield, Coran was double teamed by Pidge and Keith while (Y/N) and Shiro blindsided Allura, they retaliated, Hunk spat again, at one point Owlen fired a whole mess of goo at the aliens for getting his coat dirty, and in the end, food goo was everywhere and coating everyone before Allura sunk in her chair in defeat. Everyone burst into laughter before she cut in.
"Enough! Do you see what you're doing?" Her head came up, revealing that she was smiling. "You're finally working together as one!"
"Hey, she's right!" Keith realized.
"I actually don't hate you right now," Lance admitted in response.
"You guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Hunk asked.
"Let's go form Voltron!" Shiro answered as everyone cheered.
"Actually, I was thinking dessert. But yeah! Let's do it!" As the team ran out (after a nasty fall thanks to the cuffs that were finally removed) (Y/N) held back, crossing her arms and smirking knowingly at the Altean woman. The (E/C) eyed woman shook her head.
"What?" Allura asked.
"Tsk tsk, the old common enemy ploy. Never took you as one for playing dirty Allura," Her eyes widened in shock and a little embarrassment.
"Oh! How did you know?" Her hands went to her hips.
"Like I said, 4 other earthlings along with being a teacher. They. Never. Stop. Arguing by themselves. I know every trick in the book to get them to behave. Well played Princess, but don't try that one twice," with that, the White Paladin followed the rest of the group, leaving the Alteans wide eyed and a little unnerved.
"Well, at least we know we have a White Paladin who knows how to keep people in line," Coran finally managed to say as Owlen jumped onto the tap and began licking the food goo off.
The team once again loaded into their lions.
"Everyone ready to do this?" Shiro called out.
"Rodger that!" Pidge answered.
"It's on!" Lance sounded off.
"Yes sir!" Keith added.
"I was born ready!" Hunk joined in. (Y/N) smiled, before syncing with her lion and answering back.
"All systems go!" The Black Lion roared to life, summoning the others.
"Then let's go!"
"Yeah!" The familiar spark and pull was finally felt as the lions flew together and transformed into their mighty combined form, landing on Arus's surface in front of Allura and Coran.
(Owlen getting a bath from all the girls Timeskip)
"Man that was cool!" Lance cheered. The team was back in the hub laying on the couches. "I'm so charged up, I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight!"
"Not me," Keith disagreed. "When my head hits the pillow, I'm going to be lights out," (Y/N), who was curled up next to her boyfriend who was hugging her, and playing with her pet and the mice with Pidge, nodded.
"Yeah, I'm exhausted," Hunk began hugging Keith and Lance with a very emotional tone in his voice.
"I just want you to know that I realized when we were in Voltron, we're brothers man! You know? Like, we're totally connected. No secrets, no barriers, no nothing. Brothers all the way! I love you guys!"
"G-forces mess with your head a little bit?" Keith asked.
"Yeah maybe a little, I don't know. It's been a tough few days," Everyone got up and began heading to their rooms. (Y/N) turned back as she followed Shiro, who was carrying Owlen.
"Going to bed Pidge?"
"In a minute," she smiled at the younger girl.
"Don't stay up. You did good work today. We're really coming together," with that, everyone cleared out. Once they were alone in the hallway, (Y/N) jumped onto Shiro's back and gripped him like a koala. He laughed.
"What are you doing?" She looked at him playfully.
"I'm tired! Carry me!" He raised a brow at her.
"And you don't think I am?"
"But you're big, and muscly, and I don't weigh that much. So carry me!"
"I'm holding Owlen!"
"He can sit on my head while you carry both of us!" Shiro placed the fox on her head.
"Fine, if that's how it is," he prided her from his back, making Owlen fall into her arms, and carried her back princess style. There was more laughter.
"Is this just going to be a thing now? Me carrying you back to our room at the end of the day?" She kissed his cheek.
"I don't mind being carried to bed every night by a strong, handsome, Paladin!" He smirked.
"Oh so I'm handsome now too, that's nice of you," She grabbed his chin with her fingers.
"Oh honey, let's face it, it was the only reason I didn't slip engine fuel into your drinks during our early years,"
"Yeah right," they entered the bedroom and began stripping as Owlen suddenly decided he'd prefer sleeping in the tub. Eventually, they wound up in boxers and (Y/N) in an over sized shirt. She crashed into the bed and scrambled to cuddle up to Shiro, only to feel her boyfriend's hands bravely exploring. She raised a brow at him.
"Really Takashi?" He grinned sheepishly.
"What? We talked about it yesterday!"
"Aren't you tired!?"
"Yeah, but it's been a year and frankly I'm getting antsy," (E/C) eyes wondered to the walls.
"We may wake the others," His grin grew sinister.
"I may or may not have asked Coran in a totally non related throw away question if the walls were sound proof. They are by the way," She hesitated for a moment before finally laughing.
"Alright fine. But only one round!" He jumped on top of her and began kissing her all over.
"God, I love you,"
"Love you too. Now hurry, I'm getting antsy now!" He smirked as the two began a full out make out session.
Like I said, I don't write lemons, but if you want to write one, feel free to and I'll happily link it in my story!
