Chapter Three
I pushed my way to my feet as my migraine subsided. "Owwww," I groaned as I held my hand to my head. I opened my eyes to find myself on a side street with a purple circle shining behind me.
I saw people walking up and down the main street in front of me. I walked cautiously towards the road until I reach the curb. I gasped as I took in the massive city around me.
Suddenly, a familiar figure catches my eye. I turned to see a teenage girl with golden brown hair walking down the opposite side of the street.
"Claire!" I scream. Claire turned to look at me with a look of shock and happiness as she ran over to greet me.
"Hail, you're here!" Her face gleamed with excitement as she looked at me.
"Yeah, except one question. Where the heck is here?!" I screamed at her in rage.
"Hey, calm down. But come on. We can't talk here." Claire whispered before walking back down the street. I followed closely behind while admiring the scenery.
Shops lined the sides of the road, but what was really surprising is that there wasn't any cars on the road whatsoever. And the people just walk wherever they want to walk, even in the street which scared the heck out of me that they're going to get hit.
Finally, we come to another side road, but this one reminded me of the dirt road to my house. At the very end was a small, little white house with a light brown roof.
I walked in through the front door right behind Claire. Inside, a little circle table with two brown chairs rested in the middle of a small room that I assume is a kitchen. I see a white door that I guess leads to the bedroom. And finally, I can see a brown couch with a flatscreen TV and a dark brown coffee table through a doorway.
Claire walked into the living room and sat down on the couch, motioning me to join her.
"So...who's house is this?" I asked Claire as I sat down.
She raised an eyebrow at me and a few seconds passed before she responded to my question. "It's mine."
I stared at her in shock. "You have your own house?"
"Well, yeah. Now, we need to get down to business." Claire put on a serious face which she like never does.
I burst out in laughter at her expression. Claire narrowed her eyes and frowned. I suddenly become concerned. She never got upset when I joked with her. "Claire?"
Claire took a deep breath before speaking. "Look, Hailey. This is serious. We need to talk."
I nodded. "So, where are we?"
Claire started to smile again which made me relax a lot more. "Madania."
"Which is?"
"The Kingdom of Madania," she replied simply.
The Kingdom of Madania? What in the world? "Can you elaborate a bit more, please?" I asked.
Claire nodded. "Sure; Madania is the biggest and most powerful kingdom in this world..."
I cut her off right there. "Woah, woah, woah. What do you mean 'in this world'? Aren't we on Earth?"
Claire stares at me like I'm crazy then looks like she suddenly remembers something. "Sorry; I keep on forgetting that you don't know about this place yet."
I stared at her, dumbfounded. "Excuse me, what?"
Claire sighed. "Okay; so we are in the Kingdom of Madania in the world Terinia. Here, there is magic. As in witches and wizards."
"What?!"
"Yeah; I'm a witch." Claire put up a hand and a ball of fire lit itself on it.
I screamed in horror and scrambled farther up the couch. "Claire, you're on fire!"
The ball of flame disappeared to be replaced by a laughing Claire. "You should see your face! You acted like you were going to die or something."
I threw her a scowl before she had calmed down enough to finish explaining. "Okay; so there are several kingdoms in Terinia. There's Black Shadow, Horica, Covemen, Trisia, and Madania. Now, there is some land in between that is not allowed to be conquered. Those lands are called Noman Country. And yes, I know those are weird names but that's what they named the places. Also, each kingdom has its own ruler and royal family. However, Madania doesn't really have a royal family at the moment, but we do have the Council that helps the ruler rule the kingdom, like as their advisors."
I looked around the house as we fell into an awkward silence. "Oh, and you're a witch, too."
I jumped up off of the couch. "What?!" I was frantic. Me? A witch? No, no, no, no, no. That just can't be possible. Can it?
"Yeah, your mom was a witch and your dad was a wizard. So, of course, you're one, too." Claire stated matter-of-factly.
I froze when she mentioned my parents. "The-they were?" Claire nodded her head. My head grew dizzy at the thought of my parents lying to me. Granted, my dad technically couldn't tell me since he was dead when I was older. So, all the blame would have to go to...my mom.
No, no. I can't do it. I can't blame mom. I could never blame her. I was just so close to her. I loved her. And...and I miss her.
Before I knew anything, I was on the ground sobbing uncontrollably with Claire's arms wrapped around me while she tried to calm me down. But the tears just wouldn't stop. Why did she have to go? I held back screams that welled in the back of my throat.
I finally calmed down enough for Claire to speak again. "Hey, it's late. And you've been through quite a bit. We should get to bed. You have to go meet your new trainer tomorrow, so you don't want to be too tired."
I sniffed. "My new trainer?"
"Yeah, you need to learn how to use magic and I certainly can't teach you. Plus, this person has been waiting for you. Your mom wanted it." Claire was careful with her words as to not upset me.
"Okay," I sniffed again before looking around for a place to sleep.
"I have an extra bed in my room." Claire said when she saw me looking around.
I nodded before getting up with Claire to go to bed. What a rough day I've had.
✨✨✨✨✨
Hey! Happy New Year once again! Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Oh, and the way to pronounce Madania is Mu-day-ni-a. The way to pronounce Terinia is Tur-ri-ni-a. The way to pronounce Horica is Hor-ri-ca. The way to pronounce Trisia is Tri-si-a but the tri is not the prefix for three. So, it doesn't sound like that. Finally, Noman rhymes with Roman. It is not pronounced no-man. Okay, well, ask questions and comment. :)
