Mont. Capitaine
Everyone around us was either chatting, reading or sleeping. I was lying awake with my head resting on Nate's shoulder. The ride was edgy and uncomfortable. The metal seats were hard that I preferred to sit in Nate's lap, but I didn't. I had to endure until we reached.
"How much longer?" I asked as I looked up at him. It's been 3 hours. He looked at his watch. "We should've reached by now." He stated.
He then turned to Emily who sat erected in her seat. Her gaze was set forward and sweat was leaking off of her face. "Is she ok?" I asked. Nate moved his hand gracefully to ask her. "We're all gonna die!" Emily shouted then ran all the way to the back of the train. We were all stumped. Malik was so taken aback that he sat still with a frightened look on his face. The rest of us walked towards her at the back.
She was pacing back and forth and mumbling some words. We stood back while Nate approached her. "So you could talk this entire time?" He asked aggressively. She looked at him with tears welled up in her eyes.
"That's not important, we need to get off this train now." She ranted. No one listened to her. In fact, no one trusted her. She was a fake. "Why should we believe you after you pretended to be a mute? Why would you do that?" Sophia spoke out. Emily was bombarded with our questions and she didn't attempt to answer any. She just collapsed on the floor. Nate ran and lifted her. He gently sat her on his seat. By this time, almost everyone crowded around her.
Sophia used her book as a means of fanning her while Nate asked if she was ok. I stood in the midst of the crowd watching everything.
Emily parted her trembling lips. "He made me do it. I'm sorry." She whispered in Nate's ear.
Nate along with everyone else was confused and we needed answers.
Suddenly, the same terrible noise sounded through the intercom. At the same time, the lights in the train flickered until they all went dim.
The darkness engulfed us and we all stood where we were.
Some people swore they would hear the captain smoothly assure us that everything was ok. That we just entered through a tunnel, but he didn't. Instead, the screeching noise freaked us out even more and everyone turned to Emily.
"Why does everybody seem so scared?" The same raspy voice spoke. Everyone jumped at his startling voice. "Here's some comforting music.... The wheels on the train go round and round" he sang and each lyric made us beyond scared, plus the immense darkness were in resulted in everyone screaming.
Everyone ran throughout the train, perhaps looking for a way out. But there was none. "Emily, what is happening?" I heard Nate's voice.
"It's time." Was all I heard from the voice I wasn't accustomed to hearing, Emily.
