The next day

*it was morning in the military base. We see Ruby, her family, and Blake walking out of it. Ruby was re-reading her speech on paper while her father pushed her wheelchair. As always, Blake was next to her, wanting to be as close to her as possible. She also wanted to be the one to push Ruby's wheelchair, but unfortunately since she and penny started to fight over who'll push Ruby, Ruby was punishing both of them by having her dad push her, making them both miserable, and blaming the other over what happened. But at least Blake got to be next to Ruby and listen to her speak.*

Ruby: And the radio has brought us closer together.

James: Isn't the radio a bit too old?

*James asked, looking down and trying to read what Ruby wrote in her speech. Ruby closed the papers in half and looked up with a smirk. Since not even her father was gonna know what she'll say, this will be a surprise for everyone. Ruby looked back in front of them, enjoying the view of her island, knowing that it will be a long while, before she gets to return again, before responding to the question that her father asked of her.*

Ruby: Maybe, but saying "the airplane and the television" doesn't have the same feeling for me. So I went with the radio, don't worry, dad, I'm sure I'll be able to convince at least a few to change their minds

James: Honestly, I would settle for them to keep an open mind for a discussion table at least.

*James said with a shrug. He's not naive enough to believe that one speech will change the tide of the civil war he just heard about. Ruby, for her part, gave her father a warm smile, her tail starting to wag in excitement since being a double extrovert, also meant that Ruby was a huge optimist. She did believe that the speech would change at least a few hearts. If nothing else, they'll like it. Hence why she worked so hard on writing it, spending many sleepless nights on it.*

Ruby: You gotta be more optimistic, father. Words can motivate people to move mountains

James: From what I've seen, actions always gave a bigger reaction than words, honey. But I'll try to be more optimistic

* James said with a small smile, looking at her daughter. Seeing her smile brightly at him made James feel a lot more calm about everything that was happening. Winter looked at her boss, and she shook her head as she spoke, feeling outraged that people were suffering, all because the leaders of this island refused to ask for outside help, she can commend Blake and Ruby for telling then the truth, but the fact that it took two young ladies to know the truth told her plenty of the people in charge of the island.*

Winter: I still can't believe the arrogance in the leader here. There's a civil war, and yet he truly believed that he could take care of it by himself and his own militia

Blake: My father is a proud man. He didn't want to appear weak by asking for help from humans

*Blake explained that she was still angry at her father, but she still was gonna defend him when she could. James shrugged at what blake said, since it he didn't agree with her, but unlike Penny, he knows how to keep his feelings professional, as he spoke with authority in his tone. Since people like ghira are the type of people James hates, and the type of people that he.... took care of when he made it into a leadership position. How did he do it?.... Well, anyway. James spoke to Blake.*

James: Pride can be a good thing, but when is that pride getting people killed? That's when pride turns to stupidity.

Ruby: But you'll help them, right?

*Ruby said as he looked again at her father. James nodded as he grabbed Ruby like a princess and put her on the back seat, putting her wheelchair next to her. In the background, Penny and blake looked at each other with hatred since they both wanted to sit next to Ruby, but only one would be able to do that.*

James: If it's in my power, then yes. But my hands are politically tied until he signs that treaty.

Ruby: But off the record?

*Ruby asked with a small smirk, as the rest got inside the minivan, of course Blake sat next to ruby, much to Penny's annoyance, but the side eye Ruby gave her, kept the youngest there quiet. James sat down in front and turned on the car as he responded to his daughter*

James: Military ships are already coming this way, and if they refuse to sign,  I have a smaller ship with only faunus Atlas soldiers to help.

Blake: Also, the fact that my team and team JNPR have jurisdiction to help,  regardless if my father accepts it or not

*Blake said as they drove to the airport to get both teams. James nodded as he kept his eyes on the road, as he said the something that showed Blake, why Ruby admired her father so much. Since unlike all the propaganda of the island or from the opposition party may say, in truth is that James cared about people, about the innocent.*

James: Either way, help will come to this island. That's all I care about.

Later, with Chibi Ruby putting her head out of the window, letting the wind hit her face

*we see them all waiting for the two team to get off the plane, well.  Mostly, Ruby was off in the gift shop, with Penny since Penny wanted to buy some magnets. Blake saw her team and team JNPR walking up to them, as always yang was boombastic as she spoke loudly and smugly*

Yang: yo! The yellow dragon is in the house!!

Blake: God, what did I see in you?

*Blake said with a shake of her head as she walked up to her friends. She started talking about what was going on as Penny wheeled Ruby forward, with Penny eating the magnent like a snack. Nora saw Ruby and smiled brightly, walking up to be up in her face*

Nora: Hey Ruby! My hammer is working great!

Ruby: Hello Nora. I'm happy to hear that, of course, all my fixes are top quality

*Ruby said with a calm smile. As she looked at the hyperactive girl, Ruby wondered if she would've been like Nora if she had never lost her legs. A thought for another day, since blake walked up to them, confused of his Nora and Ruby knew each other,  her cat DNA acting up since she didn't like that Nora knew Ruby, she didn't like it at all.*

Blake: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but since when do you two know each other?

Nora: Oh! My hammer broke a couple of months ago, so I went to Ruby's shop to get it fixed. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Flashback

*we see a rare sight. Nora was sad. She was playing with her hammer too much and she broke it. So here she was with Ren walking inside a workshop, where they saw Ruby wheeling herself from the back with a smile on her face. Nora looked at Ruby and looked so confused, Ruby looked confused because the orange hair girl was looking at her confused*

Nora: Hey Ruby, where are your scales?

Ruby: I'm... I'm sorry? What scales are you talking about?

*Ruby asked, confused, looking at the orange haired girl. Nora, for her part, walked up to Ruby, getting up to her face and looking at it really closely, to see if she could see any scales. Which she could not, Ruby's skin was perfectly smooth. Maybe she was using that creepy ointment? No. That's not quite it, Nora was just more confused as she continued to smile at the girl.*

Nora: Your snake scales! On your face, where's your cowboy outfit and snake claw?

Ruby: I'm sorry. I think you're confusing me with another Ruby. Cause I'm a dog faunus, not a snake faunus

*Ruby said, feeling a bit uncomfortable with this woman so close. She wheeled herself backward a bit to make some space for herself. Nora crunched up ger face in thought, wondering if she truly did mistake this Ruby for somebody else. That's when she snapped her finger in a eureka moment.*

Nora: Hmm...... oh! Yeah, you're right! I'm thinking of you in another universe

Ruby:....ok?

*Ruby asked even more confused. She was just about reacy to hit her emergency button, which will activate the soldier security system. But as always, Ren was there to help people understand Nora and her antics. He walked calmly close to Ruby and gave a small bow*

Ren: I'm sorry about her. She gets high on coffee and swears that she can see at other dimensions.

Ruby: Ah. Ok. Don't know what to say about that, so in this other dimension, am I happy?

*Ruby asked Nora, she might as well indulged this woman and he delusions. She didn't get the reaction she was expecting. Since Nora winced hard and thought what to say before, she opened her mouth. That was a surprise for Ren to see.*

Nora: Your....satisfied with the life you have. Though you did have legs in that dimension

Back to the present

Blake: NORA!!

*Blake yelled, outraged that Nora would say something so insensitive. Ruby, for her part, shrugged, taking a slow slurp of her smoothie. Before going to where Ruby would give her speech, we saw all of them still in the airport, having a frankly overpriced meal. Since Ruby paid 9 dollars for a hot dog and a papaya smoothie. She stopped slurping and looked at blake*

Ruby: Blake, it's fine. It's not like it's a huge surprise that I don't have my legs anymore.

Blake: Still tough. It was rude

*Blake said with a deep frown on her face. Thankfully, she wasn't alone in her thought since the fellow introvert nodded at her as he finally decided to speak up.*

Ren: Believe me, I punished her for it

Back to the past

*Nora winced when Ren slapped her behind the head, for the frankly insulting comment. While Ruby just looked at them confused. She decided best to play along since a customer was still a customer, so money was still money, even if this girl didn't look like she was all there.*

Ruby: That's....nice. So I bet this other me loves to run, huh?

Nora: Nope. She loves to ride her horse miracle.

* Nora said with a big smile, as she started telling pieces of this other Ruby, which frankly sounded like a bad spaghetti western than anything else. In the end, Ruby just nodded and went back to business mode*

Ruby: Well, ain't that something. So welcome to my shop. How can I help you today?

Nora: Oh! My hammer broke, and I was wondering if you could fix it

* Nora said putting the hammer on the counter, and to say it was broken would be an understatement,  the thing was in pieces, ruby almost didn't want to know how it got this way, but ruby looked it a but before giving a price for fixing the weapon*

Ruby: it'll cost you xxx to fix, and that's just an estimate it could cost you more down the line, since...well just look at it. I would recommend that you just buy a new one and sell this one for scrap metal

Nora: Hmm. No thanks! I like this hammer. So please fix it, I'll pay whatever you ask

Back to the present

* While Nora was finishing the story, Ruby kept her gaze on the champion of mistral. It was so obvious that she had a thing for the yellow haired boy. Why? Ruby had no idea, but that wasn't her business. She has her own complicated love life with blake, and she's not gonna get involved with someone else's love life.*

Ruby: Right. Well. That's how I met Nora, for the other 2 I haven't met. Hello. I'm Ruby ironwood Rose, daughter of James ironwood and a childhood friend of Blake

Pyrrha: Hello. I'm Pyrrha nikos, and this is our leader, Jaune Arc.

*pyrrha said kindly, both Ruby and Pyrrha couldn't help but get the feeling that they had already met somewhere. Giving that they're both part of the high class society, they chopped it up to meeting each other in a fancy ball or something. James gave a small cough as he got up, finishing his frankly small burger that cost him 25 dollars.*

James: As lovely as it is to see my daughter make new friends, we should get going. It's quite the long drive to the stadium.

Ilia: Right. Well. Good luck with that. Our team are gonna head to the chieftain of the island to tell them of our involvement in helping him end this war.

*Ilia said, as she and weiss shared a smoothie with a crazy straw that had the shape of a heart, just to annoy yang a little, which worked quite a lot, actually.  Everyone cleaned up and went their separate was. Well. Almost everyone, as always, Blake wanted to be with Ruby as long as possible*

Blake: Good luck with the speech, I'll be listening in on the radio

Ruby: Thank you, blake. And please, be careful with your father. Don't let him anger you. If he wants to act immature, you'll have to act like the grown-up up in the relationship

*Ruby said in a gentle tone, Blake nodded, smiling innocently. Since she didn't think anything bad would happen to Ruby, she made the mistake of letting her guard down. They all did since only Ruby and Blake knew about the arrow that almost killed her, but Blake was too distracted with the problem with her father, to consider that Ruby could still be a target, so she just gave the dog faunus a quick hug, before running to catch up to her friends. James grabbed her daughter's wheelchair handles and pushed her forward to the minivan*

James: Penny told me what you told her. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry if my attitude has been affecting you. You know I'm just looking out for you, right?

Ruby: I know, dad. I still love all of you, but just dial it back a little. You know blake means well.

*Ruby said, looking at his father with a small smile, as James, Penny, and Ruby were waiting for Winter to come back from the bathroom. James hummed as a response as he thought about the cat that hadn't left his daughter side. Since they met again*

James: Hmm. I'll trust your judgment on that. For now, let's get going it's quite the long drive.

Ruby: Of course, dad. But can you buy me one more smoothie?

*Ruby asked, giving her father the puppy eyes he is weak to. James gave a sigh that turned into a chuckle as he moved his head as Penny took her place to protect Ruby, while James went to the smoothie stand again. If his daughter wants another overpriced smoothie, then that's exactly what he'll buy her*

James: Anything you want, princess.
