After the flight

*we see everyone miserable, since they've been on a 20-hour flight, it don't matter if you are in the first class of economy class, 20 hours is 20 hours. They made it to the military base they were staying at, and most of them just crashed on the first bed or couch they saw. Most, but not all.*

Blake: " I'm going to meet my parents. I'm going to tell them the truth..."

*Blake thought to herself. She was one of the few who were still up. Since we see Blake walking around the base with a guest pass, she couldn't go to sleep. She was too nervous to sleep. All her instincts were telling her, screaming at her to run away. And she was tempted to listen do it.*

Blake: " God, I'm a mess. This place has to have a gym somewhere.*

*Blake thought, since she needed something to distract herself, running a few reps is just what she needs, so she kept walking around until she found it. She walked inside and to her surprise she wasn't alone in there*

Earlier with ruby

*Ruby managed to crash on her shared bed with penny and got to have 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep. The bad part is that she only got 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep before her alarm rang off*

Ruby's phone: We were staying in Paris
To get away from your parents

*Ruby and penny both heard the alarm. Penny was ok, she was a robot, she liked to sleep but she didn't need to sleep. Ruby, on the other hand, groaned loudly, her dog side overwhelmed by her tired human side*

Ruby's phone: I thought, "Wow
If I could take this in a shot right now
I don't think that we could work this out."

*Ruby didn't open her eyes, she refused to open her eyes, as she felt around the bed for the phone, using the sound to guide her. Since she wanted to enjoy every last second of her eyes closed, before she had to open them*

Ruby's phone: Out on the terrace
I don't know if it's fair, but I thought, "How could I let you fall by yourself while I'm wasted with someone else?"

*Ruby found her phone and threw it to the wall, but it didn't turn it off. It only cracked the protective screen. Penny got up and walked to the phone, taking off the broken protector and turning off the alarm*

Penny: It says gym alarm

Ruby: I know, baby. I gotta head to the gym in this base

*Ruby said with a huge yawn, to the point you could see her back teeth. She slowly sat on the bed, opening her tired eyes and looking at their private room, that she totally didn't get cause she's daddy special little puppy. No. Of course not. Why would you think of such a thing?*

Penny: Why? You're dead tired. It's not good to exercise when you are not well rested

Ruby: Don't have much of a choice. Already missed my reps while I was on the plane, I can't miss this one. I would rather lose sleep than lose my gains

*Ruby said with a tired shrug that didn't even make it all the way up, as she took a deep breath, too tired to enjoy the nostalgic smell of the tropical air coming from the window. Penny walked up to her mother, giving Ruby her phone back.*

Penny:.... That sounds like an addiction

Ruby: Because it is. Now help momma on her chair. She's too tired to do it by herself. I'm just gonna grab a quick cold shower to wake me up

*Ruby said with her hands raised, Penny nodded doing what Blake could only dream of doing and grabbed Ruby like a delicate princess, taking her to the bathroom, taking off Ruby's nightgown and put her on the tub. Penny positioned the shower head to hit Ruby right on her face and turned on the cold water. Hitting Ruby's body like a bullet*

Ruby: Thank you, baby. You can go back to sleep now, I know how much you like to sleep.

Penny: Actually, I have a question

*Penny said, sitting down on the toilet, while Ruby bit down on the water a bit, letting her dog side wake up too, while her mouth was busy with bitting the water, she waved at penny to continue*

Penny: Blake's parents. What are they do you?

Ruby: Well.... I used to consider them my aunty and uncle. But that was a long time ago. Now that I'm a ironwood, can't help but see them differently, thanks to all the slander they've spewed about my father

*Ruby said with a sigh and a shake of her head, thinking of all the simply propaganda type of lies she's seen of her father, that couldn't be further from the truth.  Penny looked at her mother with a raised eyebrow, wondering what she meant by that. She placed her finger on her chin as she spoke.*

Penny: I don't recall those two on any of the commercials, posters, or anything of the sort

Ruby: No. But everyone was a stamp that basically said, "I'm kali and Ghira, and we approve this message." Vibe around them. I just hope they listen to me.

*Ruby said with a sigh, taking the soap and washing herself. Before she used to beg her father to let her set the record straight, to show the world that he's not the monster they make him out to be, and every day? He would say the same thing to her and stop her from speaking out to a void that would refuse to listen*

Ruby: " Don't do a thing. History will prove them wrong. Well, I guess I'll be making history when I give my speech"

Penny: So, do you think you'll be able to make them see the light? Sort to speak

* Penny asked, taking Ruby out of her thoughts. Ruby thought about the people who used to be her only source of parental support, even if it was just because she was Blake's friend. But still, they used to be kind to her, so hopefully, they'll be kind to her now*

Ruby: I certainly hope so. I hope they'll just open their eyes a little, that atlas and menagerie don't have to be hostile to each other, that we can work together

Penny: I hope you're right, momma

* Penny said with a sigh. She loves her mother optimism. Really, she does. But she wasn't out there. She didn't see the attacks this new white fang was making. They were more violent. Like some insane strategist was in charge. But Ruby's optimistic smile calmed Penny's worries a little*

Ruby: So am I. I also hope that my speech reaches people's ears and enters their hearts, do at least of a few of them

After Chibi, Ruby finishes her bath

*we see her in the gym, lifting weights while listening to music. The song was....meh, like a 6 out of 10, but the beat was perfect for lifting weights*

Ruby's headphones: Uh, hey, dirty. What? Look at that girl right thurr Oh She make me say Ooh, ooh Yea Ooh, ooh Hey Do what you wanna do C'mon boy

*Ruby heard as she listed weights do the beat of the song. She was miserable, she wanted to sleep, and she wanted to stop. But she couldn't. She knew she couldn't.*

Ruby's headphones: I like the way you do that right thurr Right thurr
Swing your hips when your walkin'
Let down your hurr, Down your hurr

*Ruby heard, as she felt her arms start to tremble from how tired she was or from the 20 minutes of straight lifting weights. She couldn't tell you, but she couldn't stop. And anyone who goes to the gym regularly knows why she couldn't. So she just kept pumping, ignoring her bones screaming at her to go to bed. She placed the weight back on the holder and sat up on the seat, feeling the sting in her arms, whe she sniffed the air. She could smell who was getting closer to her*

Back to the present

*Blake walked up to Ruby, who was drinking a bottle of water, taking a small break from her aching muscles. Blake had a small blush on her face. She may not have Ruby's dog nose, but a cat nose was still quite good, and she could smell Ruby's sweaty body*

Blake" God, she even smells so intoxicating...."

Blake: Uh, hey, Ruby. How long have you been here?

*Blake asked with an awkward crooked smile, her eyes looking just as tired as Ruby's eyes. Ruby looked at Blake and gave her a small, polite smile back. She saw the small blush on the cat's face, but she was too tired to mention it to her. So she just shrugged and answered the cat*

Ruby: Around 30 minutes.

Blake: Shouldn't you be know you asleep?

*Blake questioned, instead of going to the treadmills to distract herself, like she originally planned. She sat down next to Ruby. You can take a guess at what she found to distract her now, which was much more effective. Ruby just hummed before responding to the black cat*

Ruby: I would ask you the same. But I know you

Blake: I'm not that predictable

*Blake said with mock anger as she crossed her arms. The small amused smile on her face gave her true feelings away. But Ruby was too tired not to be unbelievably blunt to the human cat*

Ruby: You're scared of facing your parents and telling them the truth, so you can't sleep and part of you. Your cat side is telling you to run away again. How is that? Am I in the ballpark?

Blake:..... nu-uh

*Blake said as her smile disappeared, surprised that she was called out like that so quickly. Ruby smirked a little, seeing Blake's tail be the one wagging for a change, though her's was wagging because of nervousness. Ruby rolled her eyes a little before speaking again*

Ruby: Right. Well. I guess you're not the only one who's worried about what will happen later today.

Blake: You have nothing to worry about. My parents will love you, like the did long ago

*Blake said with a more calm smile. She was so sure that her parents would be overjoyed seeing Ruby again. Her on the other hand? When they find out the truth? She's not sure. She's just hoping for the best. Since it would hurt so much to lose her parents a second time.*

Ruby: That would be ideal. But not necessarily what I was talking about.

Blake: Oh. I'm sorry for making an assumption. What did you mean by it?

*Blake asked and got a tired sigh from Ruby as a response. Ruby pursed her lips a little, getting her thoughts in order, before she spoke again, in a calm but very tired tone*

Ruby: About the speech about the public appearance. You're a huntress. Can't you sense the tension in the air?

Blake: I can. But you have nothing to worry about. You'll be safe and protected. You have my word on that. Also, the white fang has changed. The new leader has taken them to a whole nother direction

*Blake said, trying to calm Ruby's nervousness. She's had has first hand experience with members of the new white fang. She can say that they do want better rights for the faunus. Ruby sighed with a small shake of her head, while she did agree mostly with Blake. She didn't agree fully with her*

Ruby: A more violent direction. But we're crossing hairs. I'm gonna go for some cold air outside. Want to join me?

Blake: Do you even have to ask? You know I love nothing more than being in your company

*Blake said happily, feeling some energy recharge inside of her. She got up and walked next to Ruby's wheelchair, both enjoying the calm before the storm, enjoying just the fact that they were back to the island they were born in. They were close enough to. The harbor, to enjoy the sounds of the wave hitting the beach, they ended up at the old pier bridge. Ruby stopped rolling, and Blake rested herself on the wooden handrail. Blake couldn't help but chuckle softly, making ruby look at her with a raised eyebrow*

Ruby: What's so funny?

Blake: Nothing, nothing. Just.... remembering the past. We were little girls on this same bridge....

Flashback

* As it usually was, puppy Ruby was holding kitty Blake's hand. She was dragging her to another adventure*

Back to the present

Ruby: If I recall, you never said no to my adventures

Blake:..... oh, that is such bullshit. I did say no. Numerous times. You just dragged me with you anyway

*Blake said with an amused chuckle as she blew Ruby a raspberry. Ruby gave a crooked smile, looking at the waves hit the rocks protecting the harbor *

Ruby: I do not recall you saying no. Besides, you ended up having fun by the end of it

Blake: Not because of the adventure. But because of the adventurer who took me with her. I dare say, my childhood would've been much more boring without you in it

*Blake said with a whimsical smile on her face as she shared the view of the waves hitting the harbor, with Ruby. The sound, the smell, the location, it was so nostalgic for the both of them*

Blake: But back do the story of when this bridge used to be newer.

Back to the past

*Puppy Ruby was trembling with excitement, looking around. She still refused to let go of Kitty Blake's hand. While kitty Blake was at least happy seeing the fisherman fish out big fish out of the ocean*

Puppy ruby: See?! I told you this would be worth it, look at all the fishes!

Kitten Blake: I'll admit, I do like seeing that. But I could do without all the...water

*kitten Blake said, taking a step back when a wave splashed some water on top of the pier, making her hiss a little. But puppy ruby just kept smiling as the smile turned sinister in Blake's eyes*

Back to the present

Ruby: Sinister? I was still a puppy back then, I doubt I had an evil bone in my body.

Blake: I know that. But what you did made me look at you like the villain to me

*Blake said with a chuckle, as she felt a rather big wave splash some water on her feet. Unlike how she was before, she enjoyed the water touching her. As she continued the memory of that particular adventure, they had.*

Back to the past

Puppy Ruby: I know of a way that we can see lots of fishes!

Kitten Blake: Really? How?

* Kitten Blake asked as Ruby grinned and started running to the end of the pier, dragging kitten Blake with her. Kitten Blake's eyes widened, knowing what puppy Ruby was gonna do, and she tried to stop it. She tried to break free, but puppy Ruby's grip was too strong.*

Kitten Blake: Ruby, no! Hold on! I said no!!

Puppy Ruby: Hold your breath!!

*puppy ruby yelled excitedly, as she made it to the end of the fisherman's bridge and jumped into the water, with a screaming kitten Blake next to her*

Back to the present

* Both older girls were laughing, remembering that day, remembering how mad Blake was afterward. How Ruby had a fish in her mouth for Blake when she came out of the water. How mad the fisherman were, at the both of them, for scaring all the fish*

Blake: My dad had to pay them so much money as an apology. He was so mad at us

Ruby: it was totally worth it. Made for a good memory. Like a legendary man once said. " Life is short, and if you ever come across a beautiful, exciting, crazy moment in it. You gotta seize it while you can, before that moment's gone."

*Ruby quoted with a grin, as both women relived their childhood as little kids on their island. Before everything got so damn complicated. Blake sighed with a smile at the end of her sigh*

Blake: Yeah. I've got so many beautiful moments from my past because of you.

Ruby: Hmm. We're still young Blake. It's still time to make more exciting, crazy moments together

*Ruby said in a soft tone, but Blake heard it as clear as a bell. It made her smile become a bit warmer as they enjoyed the calming waves. The trip of the island started better than Blake thought it was going to be.*
