Days later

*Another chapter down, another grain of sand passing the sand clock of time. It was Thursday. Normally, Blake would be overthinking what she would do with Ruby tomorrow. But not today. Nope, today she's panicking for an entirely different reason.

Flashback

Tuesday

*It was just a lazy Tuesday for the members of team IWBY, no missions to have, no fun outings to be had, everyone was just laying around the penthouse, killing time with whatever. Blake stopped her reading when her phone rang. She looked who it was and instantly stood up straight*

IWY" Ruby is calling"

*The members of team IWBY thought in unison, since Blake only gets like this when ruby calls, or when the fisherman calls about a new shipment of tuna, but that calls not until the 21st Blake took a shaky breath to compose herself, and she answered, "

Blake: Hello, Ruby. What a pleasant surprise that you're calling me today

Ruby: So, you're saying that any other time I call you, it isn't a pleasant surprise?

*Ruby said in an unamused tone, making Blake flinch and completely start to backpedal on her words, something rather amusing for her team to watch*

Blake: N.. No! Of course it is!  It's just today that I'm not doing anything and was bored out of my mind. For heaven's sake, I've read the same page 5 times, and I still don't know what's going on

Ruby:.... So I'm only a pleasant call when you're bored?

*Ruby said again and couldn't help but let a snort escape her from her nose. Sadly for Ruby's little game, Blake caught it and pouted at the phone. She crossed her arms and tried her best to give out an annoyed tone*

Blake: Y.... Your trying to fuck with me aren't you?

Ruby: A little. Is it working?

*Ruby said with a grin, as she brushed her hair, looking at herself in the mirror and ruby liked what she saw, cause she knew she was cute as a button. She got out of her egocentric mind when she heard the sigh of Blake*

Blake: A lot. So, now that that's out of the way, why are you calling?

Ruby: It's about Friday. I'm gonna be out of town till Sunday

*Ruby said, as he kept mentally counting how many times she brushed her hair. She could almost see Blake flinching and trying to act like it didn't bother her on the other line. Blake, for her part, crossed one of her arms, making it hold the one, as she spoke, trying not to sound disappointed.

Blake: O... Oh. That's fine. I can't expect you to spend every Friday with me

Yang: Your diary begs to differ, ow!

*Yang winced when Blake threw her book at her. She'll deal with her fact that yang read her diary later. For now, she just needs to get through this conversation. Ruby looked at the phone confused and then kept talking*

Ruby: What was that?

Blake: Oh, yang, just hit her baby toe. So uh. Yeah. We can hang out next Friday

*Blake said with a fake laugh, as she kept glaring at yang, daring her to say something. Yang just grumbled something unintelligible and went back to playing video games*

Ruby: Well, that's the thing. I was wondering if you would like to come with me?

Blake: You.... You want me to come with you.... To a trip.... Together

*Blake said, completely gobsmacked. Of course, Ruby kept talking, but Blake wasn't listening. She was on cloud 9. Of course, if she was listening, she would hear this*

Ruby: Well, not together, together. My dad is going on a diplomatic mission to menagerie with my daughter and winter. So I decided to tag along since it's been such a long time since I've been back on the island. And well, seeing as your parents still live there. I thought I would invite you too so you can see them. So. What do you say?

*Ruby said and smiled, having reached 1000 brushes on her right....and now she started on her left side of her hair.  Blake was too high on the rush of this moment, that she completely ignored all of what Ruby said, or what that would imply and just screamed in excitement*

Blake: Yes! I would love to!!

Ruby: Oh, uh. Well, great. The plane leaves on Thursday, we should arrive at our destination by Friday morning. I honestly forget how far that island is compared to the other nations.

Back to the present

*And so here she was, on a plane back to the island she was born in. Surrounded by people who hate her guts, not the best situation for Blake to be in. She's honestly terrified of having a fantasy of her and ruby joining the mile high club*

Blake's fantasy

Real world

Blake:"No! God, I hate my past self for not listening."

*Blake thought since now she's in a chair, on a plane hundreds of miles in the air, with winter, penny, and ironwood all around her. Her only consolation was that she got a seat next to ruby, much to Penny's jealousy, Blake risked it and got closer to ruby, do at least try to have a private conversation*

Blake: S.. So. I'm kinda blanking out over here, with... All the staring your family is doing. But um... Can you remind me what's going on?

Ruby: Sure. Firstly

*Ruby looked at her family with a mix of a glare and a dog growl, to make them stop the staring, they were making their singular guest uncomfortable for heaven's sake, it's like they completely forgot atlas Etiquette and manners. Thankfully, the growl was enough, and they looked at other things, much to Blake's relief.*

Blake: Thanks.

Ruby: Of course. Now, on to what we're doing? Dad has a diplomatic mission here on the island, with your parents and the council of elders. So I decided what better chance to go back to the island. Seeing as now I'm no longer hiding from you

*Ruby said dismissively. She really didn't mean it with any malice in her tone. But it still hurts to hear from Blake's end. But she forced a small smile on her face and kept going, like the little cat engine that could*

Blake: Oh, ok, I'm just gonna ignore that last comment for now. S..so my parents are gonna see you. Yay.... that's...that's gonna be a fun conversation to have

Ruby: Not any worse than the one I had with dad, about me giving you another chance. Besides, it would be great to see your mom again

*Ruby said with a smile that she tricked everyone into believing it was innocent or at most excitement. But in reality, it was a perverted smile, as she thought about the woman that gave her her first wet dream experience*

Ruby" I can finally see the original bellabooty again. She's gonna feature heavily in my dreams when I'm in my hotel room when we land. "

Blake: Heh. I guess you missed her cookies, huh?

*Blake said with a nervous smile, the idea of her parents seeing ruby again worried her. Since Blake hasn't exactly told them about Ruby, Ruby shook her head a little, putting that picture of Kali at the back of her mind for later use and smiling at Blake, as if she hadn't been fantasizing about her mother*

Ruby:..... Sure. yeah, her cookies are definitely what I missed. So, just so that we can get ahead of this. How much do your parents know?

Blake: Not a lot... Not anything, they uh... they know you were also part of the old white fang and our...falling out but not the specifics of it

*Blake said carefully. She slinks down on her seat a little, feeling the eyes of Ruby's family on her. She was again saved by ruby growling softly at them, making them look away. Once Ruby finished growling, she sighed and thought about what Blake just said: "

Ruby: Well. That's gonna be a fun conversation to have. But that can wait in the morning. Anything else you're forgetting?

Blake: Well, not forgetting. I'm just curious. If this is a diplomatic mission, why did your father agree to bring you along?

*Blake asked, sitting back up straight. Ruby hummed as a response, as she made her chair lean back a little, making herself more comfortable in her first class seat*

Ruby: it'll help with appearances if the people of the island see that the rumors are true. That is the great powerful leader who cries whenever he watches Pixar movies like  inside out 2

James: Hey! For the last time. I did not cry!

*James shouted, loud enough for every person in first class to look at him. Of course, James was too proud to feel embarrassed, so he kept shooting his daughter a glare. Ruby placed her finger on her chin as if she was in great thought*

Ruby: So prove me wrong. Rent inside out 2 on the monitor in front of your seat, and watch the anxiety scene again

James:.....

*Ruby was smirking smugly at her father. James' attention left Ruby, and he looked at the woman who dared snort amused at his misfortune. His second in command, winter, "It's just a kid's movie" schnee*

James: I don't know what you're snorting at. You cried, too

Winter: Yes. But unlike you, I admit it without shame, that the line "maybe that's just what happens when you grow up. you just... stop feeling joy..." Made me have to leave the movie and go to the bathroom to cry.

(^How James and winter looked. God damn that movie wrecked me emotionally)

*Winter said, even as she said that and remembered that scene, it made her choke up. Winter shook her head and smirked at James*

Winter: Only again, unlike you, I say it without shame. Now rent the movie. Better yet, I'll rent it out for you

Ruby: Now, what were we talking about?

*Ruby said, looking at Blake and ignoring her family, leaving them in the background to do their shenanigans. Blake was about to speak to remind ruby, but Ruby beat her do it*

Ruby: Oh. Right. When they see that the rumor is true, the daughter of the leader of atlas, is an adopted faunus girl. It'll help with public relations

Blake: Now, I'm not saying this to be mean... but that kinda sounds like he's...well, using you

*Blake asked with a shrug, ruby just hummed and shook her head. She didn't see it that way. She didn't see it that way at all. Ruby knew that being the daughter of James ironwood meant keeping up with certain things, like social appearances for one*

Ruby: It's not so much that he's using me. It's more about the fact that the people of the island don't exactly trust atlas, given their history

Blake: I guess that's fair. But like, shouldn't he have military officers like that? You're a civilian

*Blake asked. Since she knows she saw a few atlas soldiers in the economy and others at business class, quite a few of them were faunus. But it doesn't have the same impact, as the daughter of the leader is a faunus. Ruby looked at Blake and wagged her finger at her a little*

Ruby: Who's also an independent contractor of the Atlas military. Who do you think upgrades the knight models? They're weapons, the defense system, I could go on. Also, why I'm giving a speech on why they should look to the future with atlas, not the bloody, bloody, very bloody past. Which reminds me, when are we landing, baby?

Penny: Like another 19 hours of flying

*Penny said before turning herself back to power saver mode so that the ride feels shorter for her. Ruby sighed, putting her sleeping mask on, making Blake look at her with so much fear*

Ruby: Ok. Yeah. I'm gonna take a nap, wake me when they serve lunch

Blake: W... Wait, please don't leave me  alone with them

*Blake said in a panic, looking in between Ruby and her family and then back to ruby. Ruby sighed even deeper. She raised her sleeping mask and looked at her well-meaning, but very overprotective family*

Ruby: Family. Promise me, you won't bother my guest. Remember to show Atlas manners. Since while you all may not like her. She's still the princess of the island, and she's important to me.

Winter/James/penny: Fine..

*They all agreed reluctantly so. Since if there is one thing they have in common...well actually they have a lot of things in common, seeing as they're a family. But one of the main things they have in common is that they hate seeing a disappointed ruby. Ruby shot her daughter a final look*

Ruby: Especially you, baby girl

Penny: That's cold, Mama

*Penny said, looking at her mother with an unamused expression on her face. Ruby looked at her with a raised eyebrow before putting back down her sleeping mask*

Ruby: But not untruthful, sweetie. Now behave

Meanwhile, with the rest of the team, IWBY

*Ilia was finishing her morning tea. When she saw her all but confirmed girlfriend, whistling as she walked to Yang's room with a brown paper bag*

Ilia: What do you have there?

Weiss: Inside the bag is an air horn and a with a zip tie attached to do it, so it stays turned on until it runs out of gas

*Weiss said casually as she didn't stop her steps, ilia got up and with her hands behind her back, she followed Weiss. Wondering why she has such a death wish*

Ilia: I see. And why do you wish to anger the dragon? A dragon who is very much hung over and in a foul mood since she didn't get lucky last night?

Weiss: Blake asked me to do it as a favor. And she told me that yang was the one that puked all over my favorite dress when she was hung over that one time. So I'm in the mood for some revenge

*Weiss said with an evil smile, as she opened the door and was instantly hit with a smell of dirty clothes and rotten food. Weiss felt like gagging, while ilia was used to it, being her sister and all. Weiss counted to 3 and pulled the zip tie*

*Weiss threw the air horn inside the room and slammed the door as hard as humanly possible, as a final fuck you to yang, Weiss froze the door completely shut, so she couldn't get out*

Weiss: There. That should give us a head start

Ilia: Right. Let's go.

*Ilia said, grabbing Weiss's hand, and both of them ran as fast as possible out of the apartment before the furious dragon killed them both*
