Last time

Ruby: fine. So after I ran away.....

Now

*It took about 15 minutes, for ruby to tell Blake what happened to her that night. We see her now finishing up, safe to say Blake was having trouble listening do it*

Ruby:the second my body made contact what the now hard like surface of the water, did my brain react making me take a sharp gasp, and inhale the salty sea water into my body. I struggled to swim, but my legs were too weak to move, I just started to drown, my vision became blurry and before I knew it I passed out. It's a miracle I'm even here if I'm being honest

*Ruby said, she took a bite of her sandwich, just letting Blake absorb the information she just gave her. Blake was looking down at her food, Her breathing was ragged, she was in that point where she's about to cry, but no tears were coming out*

Blake:oh God ruby....

Ruby:save it.

*Ruby said with a sigh, she placed her sandwich back in the plate and looked at the nubs that was what remained of her legs*

Ruby:an apology won't bring me back my legs. God, I missed them. Miss using my semblance and just.....run. you have no idea how much I just miss to run till I'm out of breath

*Ruby said breathlessly. She got an off way look in her eyes, as she looked out the window. Blake's guilt grew even more, remembering how much ruby liked to run*

Blake:so...you can't even use your semblance?

Ruby: technically I can.

*Ruby said, raising her hand and vibrating so fast that it became a blur, rose petals started to fall from the blue, as they both looked at it, with different reactions behind there eyes*

Ruby: But without my leg? I lose control and end up crashing, hurting myself, I can't tell you the amount of time,

Coco:ruby the petals, stop it or I'll make you clean it up

*They both heard the authoritative voice of Coco in the background. Ruby quickly stopped it, and gave Coco a shy smile*

Ruby:sorry miss coco. Anyways, think of it like a helicopter that lost its tail rotor. Without my legs I lose control of the direction I'm heading. I can't tell you the amount of times I gave my dad a heart attack, by crashing to a wall, or scraping myself so bad, I had to go to the hospital.

*Ruby said with a small smirk, trying to lighten the atmosphere around them, before Blake start to cry, and they get unwanted attention. Ruby didn't want that, she just wanted this little reunion to go smoothly, so there wouldn't be a second one. Even if she did miss talking to Blake*

Ruby: but you know, after like a year of trying. The doctors, my father, and me agreed that I should stop trying to use it, for my own health

Blake:but, what about a prosthetic? Surely Someone of your intelligence, could make something like that

*Blake asked with curiosity, thinking that could be a way to lessen her guilt, all she would have to do is buy her a pair of prosthetic, the most expensive ones in the market and....*

Ruby:I can see your logic, but no. There's a difference between building superweapons, and building something like a prosthetic. For one, in order to get full mobility, the same as that of a normal 2 legged creature. I would need to implant a cable right to my spinal cord, and that's just so that I can move them properly. I don't need to explain to you, how painful that would be. But without them, those that I've tried, are either too primitive, or too painful

Blake:why was it painful?

*Blake asked, more slowly. Her plan completely ruined before it even began. Ruby sighed, and thought about it for a minute, and Blake saw something she hasn't seen in 10 years. Ruby crunched up face, the face she makes when she's thinking of something*

Ruby:to explain it in a simple way, our human body is more complex than a robotic one there's a reason why other inventor's couldn't make a robot that could walk like a normal human, without them falling. That is until I cracked the code. As for the prosthetics? They felt as if I was walking on sharp knives. Since they literally had to impale thousands of little wire, to every blood vessel, nerve endings, everything, just trying to get my full mobility back. It didn't last long. I only had them on for like an hour or 2 till the pain was too much, and I begged them to take them off. Heh, my dad almost killed the doctor who suggested the wire theory. No. It's the wheelchair life for me

*Ruby said giving her wheelchair a little tap, she long accepted that this was her life, was she a little sad about it? Of course she was. But she still counts her blessings, that she has a life to begin with. Blake on the other hand, was looking like she wanted to cry for her*

Blake:oh. I...I don't know what to say, well. You can already guess what I want to say, but you don't want to hear it, I'm trying to come up with something else, but it always ends up with me thinking, to say it.

*Blake said, nervously playing with her hair, as she rambles on, while in the background, ruby was giving coco a shy crooked smile, as she broomed the petals away, Blake quickly blinked the tears away*

Blake:s..so! I heard that there's a new leader in the white fang, some raptor faunus

Ruby:hm. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all. But I don't trust him, or anyone from the white fang, shoot only reason I'm fixing his weapon, is because I don't want to start any trouble

*Ruby said honestly, she finished her food, while Blake has barely touched her sandwich. Not like ruby cared, she just made an observation, she grabbed her ice tea and started drinking it. While Blake looked surprised*

Blake:oh, so you saw him in person?

Ruby:I did.... Imagine DC comics the joker, somehow more crazy, but you know. Not evil. Well, as far as I know, he's not evil. My dad doesn't really trust him. Since he can't get a read on the guy

*Ruby said, thinking of that man. Just like her father, ruby didn't trust him, he was too much of a wild card, to be trusted. Blake licked her lips a little and asked something she wanted to know*

Blake:you...you talk about your father a lot

Ruby:hm? Well, to be fair he gets to do things I'll never be able to do, so I just...admire him I guess, he did save me from dying, and quite literally changed my life for the better

*Ruby said with a small but sincere smile, Blake scooted her chair closer to ruby, and looked at her with curiosity behind her eyes*

Blake:can you... Would I be overstepping my boundaries, if I asked how he saved you?

Ruby:hm. I supposed not, I was at sea for almost 2 weeks, drifting in an out of consciousness. Till I was in view of the ship he was on, and what I'm about to tell you, it's from his perspective.....

Flashback

*James, was walking on to of his ship, inspecting it. This was before he was a general, he was the captain, of one of the biggest ships, in Atlas's navy. James looked out at the sea, they Were just at the border of the faunus space. That's when he saw something at the distance*

James:what the....

*James took out his binoculars, and look at the distance, he saw an unconscious ruby drifting at sea, holding a piece of drift wood. James eyes widen, and started giving orders to help the girl, but he was stopped, by his superior the vice admiral*

Mike:what do you think your doing? We can't enter those waters, it's faunus Territory

James:but sir! There's a girl in the water, she'll die without our help

*James said, as he was lowering a lifeboat. But Mike, stopped it from falling, and pushed the button to pull it back up. Mike gave James a stern glare*

Mike:then we'll light a candle for her. But we won't risk a conflict with the faunus, just to save 1 girl, who I can see from here, won't make it passed the night. Now stand down James. This is an order from your commander.

James:.....sir, permission to speak freely?

*James asked, standing straight, in military position, Mike looked at him for a moment, before he nodded*

Mike: I'll allow it

James:my father was also in the military, and taught me a lesson, that you seemed to have forgotten

*James said, not showing any emotion in his tone, but Mike was different, he frowned deeply looking at this person, who dared talk back to him*

Mike:son, I've forgotten more than you'll ever know.

James:then relearn this. A good soldier follows order, but great soldiers do what is right no matter what.

*James said, as he jumped inside the lifeboat, and shot the ropes, making him fall to the water. He turned the motor on and went to save the girl. Once he made it to her, he grabbed her and placed her on the boat, he placed his ear in her chest, it was faint and oh so weak. But he could hear the little one's heart still beating*

James:hold old little girl. I'll get you some help, just hold on a bit longer

*James said, and repeated to himself, as he sped the lifeboat at full speed, back to the main boat. He was scared, at that point in his career, he hasn't lost anybody yet. And he wasn't about to start now, punishments be damned*
