Chapter 21: Heart Stoppings & Pillow Fights

Lily's POV

You know that feeling when your body is on fire? It feels like your entire world has gone upside down when you look at someone? When your heart stops, and you find yourself staring? Well werecats definitely do NOT have these feelings. Or at least no cat had bothered to tell me this.

A week had past since Dex and Mae came back. That meant I'd been living with the Order for a good three weeks. So nobody in the human world had explained these feelings either. Now to explain what was happening in the house. It was all relatively normal.

Skyler and Izzy went home, and swore--quite literally--on theirs lives to never tell a living soul about the werecat incident. Now the other girls, I now know as Willow, Eva and Eliva rented a hotel room on the square and were staying there. Mae settled back in nicely, almost as if she never left, but Dex...

Dex still jumped when people touched him. Except me. He flinched when Mae hugged him. It was a tiny movement, one that I was only aware of. It was worse with his father and Kyra though. He hissed, at Mr. Marwood and completely shifted when Kyra woke him up. So Dex was pretty much a train wreck. (Kyra had to explain that expression to me many times, and I'm very anxious to use it.)

Fun times at the Marwood house. JJ and Zay normally were gone all day, and most of the night. They were patrolling the border. Or so they claimed. I think they didn't like the idea of having three werecats in the house. I had brought Ashley to the Pride, but Dex said he wasn't ready to face them quite yet.

So most of the time it was just Kyra, Mae, Dex, Emma, Emilie, and I. Six teenagers in one household, what could go wrong? A lot. That was the answer. A lot could go wrong. Day 1, Emma and Emilie trashed the kitchen. Day 4, Kyra and Mae got into the biggest fight I'd ever seen and Mae didn't even shift! Day 7, Dex nearly tore Kyra to shreds. Need I continue?

That was basically the summary of my last week at the Marwood house. It was exhausting to deal with all this chaos, but hey, what other choice did I have? Go back to the Pride? No thanks. Me and Sparrow never exactly saw eye to eye. Not since Dex came to the Pride. But that isn't really the best place to start telling my story. This event, happened on the night of the half moon.

Dex and I were walking on moonlight, this specific night. The stars glittered around us, like tiny diamonds. It almost felt like we were the only two souls in the universe. Of course the birds still sung in the trees, and the creeks still gurgled, but everything seemed so much more... focused.

Dex took me to the very same place we first went to when he showed me the town. The town still amazed me. Every light sparkled. Every smell lured me in. The whole town was perfect. We watched in a perfect silence as the lights went out. It was past midnight, before the last one, a left most window in a two story building that smelt of meat, went out.

Now we were just two dark cat figures on the mountain side, watching a sleeping town. Dex yawned and laid down in the sweet smelling grass beside me. I laid near him, so our fur was almost touching, but not quite.

His eyes were two yellow moons piercing into my soul. I looked away, not wanting to challenge my alpha. Wait. Yellow eyes? I stole another glance but Dex's eyes were shut now. His breathing was slow and soft and I knew my werecat companion had fallen asleep. I licked Dex, just on his cheek and rested my head on his shoulder.

Then no louder than a whisper, I said, "I love you Dex."

"I love you too Lily." Dex whispered back, still half asleep.

It was safe to say that I had feelings for my brown furred Alpha.

Kyra's POV

I was in the kitchen when Dex and Lily came back home. Both of them look exhausted, but they probably stayed up all night running anyways. Lily pretty much collapsed on the couch while Dex came up to me, his eyes mischievous. What did he want now?

"You know, it's rude to hate on your guest." Dex stated bluntly. "And stand in front of the fridge." He shoved me aside, pretty rudely, and grabbed a Dr. Pepper from the fridge. One of Mae's. Holy shit, that cat was dead.

"You know Mae's going to kill you now?" I asked, as he cracked open the can.

After a long sip, he finally answered, "Nope, she's gonna kill you." With that he chunked the can at me, and pelted onto the counter. The he was on one of the AC vents. I had never noticed the large back vents that stretched across the ceiling.

That's when Mae walked in. I guess she was in the bathroom or something, but she was pretty mad when she saw the drink in my hand. With a glare that could kill, she stopped up to me. Thanks a lot Dexter.

"Kyra, we've been over this before! Those are my drinks! As in for me!" She hissed.

"I didn't get it! It was that cheeky werecat brother of yours!" I screamed back.

"I don't see him." She said. That's when Dex started to laugh. Like it was a crazy, gasping for breath laugh. He was still sitting on the vents, gleaming at the two of us.

He was so dead.

"Get down here right now, Dexter Marwood!" I hissed, "So I can kick your ass properly!"

"What he do now?" Emma asked as she stumbled into the living room, Emilie right behind her.

"He stole my Dr. Pepper then framed Kyra!" Mae screamed.

"You guys are fun." He said, smiling.

"Come down here and we'll show you how fun we can be!" I threatened, but Dex looked unconcerned.

"Fire!" Emilie screamed and threw a pillow at the laughing werecat. Soon we all joined in the pillow throwing finatics. After one last round Dex finally fell to the couch, barely missing Lily, who was still asleep, even after all the noise.

Then Mae jumped on him pinning him there. While Dex struggled for breath the rest of us continued to beat him with pillows. The game didn't last very long though. Mae was thrown off as soon as Dex shifted into a raging ball of brown fur. He looked ready to tear us to shreds, but then just climbed a wall back to the vents. He watched us from up there, red eyes and all. I was, honestly, scared.

After about half an hour Dex shifted back, but still refused to come down, but we continued on with our normal lives. I wondered if we had taken it too far. We were treating him like a normal human, instead of a werecat, a Alpha no less. And that was when, for the first time in my life, I felt pity for a werecat.

AN:

Hey guys. Well I guess this is my last update of the school year. Or mine at least. Tomorrow, Thursday, June 2nd, is my last day of school. So sad, right? I just want to say, more updates are coming, and they'll be coming quicker. Also the chapters will be a bit shorter, because I'm lazy. I'm also going to say that the end of the book is in sight. And it's a very dramatic end too. So chow, chow! I love you guys! Remember to vote and comment! BYE!!!!!!!
