Humpty Dumpty

As we walked towards Aubrey's house I could feel her stiffen.

"Baby, I can run in and get your wallet." I offered.

"No, we will all go in. I can handle this." She promised.

We all slowly proceeded, each of us flanking Aubrey as we walked.

Once the house was in full view, we saw so much stuff on her porch. Untouched even tho two week's had passed.

Aubrey bravely moved forward and ascended the porch.

She grabbed an envelope that was taped to the door.

As she was unlocking her door, she looked back at the stuff.

Dying flowers, potted plant baskets, baby gifts, stuffed animals, balloons and wreaths were piled everywhere.

"Do you guys mind bringing all this in the house please?" She asked.

Her face was emotionless.

We got everything in and I sat beside Aubrey on her couch. Jackson, Ethan and Bryan sat on the floor in front of us.

Aubrey opened the envelope and began to read out loud:

Aubrey,

We came to check on you and found the baby's death certificate on the ground. Words cannot describe how much we sympathize with you. We put an obituary in the paper. We hope you don't mind. We didn't want to dishonor your precious little girl's life. We are here if you need us.

With Love and Adoration,

The Smitts

Aubrey's hands shook as she pulled the obituary and death certificate from the envelope.

Ellie Alisabeth Winters, an angel born sleeping. Loved before she was held. Born to Aubrey Elizabeth Winters. May she sleep peacefully in the arms of her Nanny and Grandma for eternity.

Five wolves sat in that small home as tears fell down our face. No words were said as we were touched by Aubrey's neighbor's gesture.

"Are you going to be okay Aubrey?" Ethan quietly asked.

"I'm ok." She whispered.

"I just want to let this all go. This world brought nothing but pain. I don't want to wallow in the misery." She stated.

"We can sell your house and donate your belongings if you would like." I offered.

"I got a better idea" Aubrey spoke.

"Anything you would like." Jackson offered.

Aubrey left the room and quickly returned with a piece of paper.

"This is the deed to my house. I'm going to donate it as is, to the women's shelter. I will leave the title to the car and what's left in my savings as well. Maybe, something beautiful can come of this. I only want my mother's ashes and Ellie's ashes. We can send all my mom's belongings to my sister and brother." she informed.

"It already has." I cooed.

Aubrey is too bright of a light to have ever graced such a cruel dark world.

"You are so much better than this world deserved." Bryan exclaimed.

"We will send some pack members to take care of it." Ethan promised.

"Thank you." She said.

We all stood and held Aubrey in a huge group hug.

Soon, she was ready to go.

***Aubrey's POV***

It felt final. Everything felt cold. I chastised myself for not feeling more. But, I felt so complete in my new world, that this human world no longer had a hold.

Life has a weird way of twisting and stabbing at us until we break. Then one day, when you are at your lowest, strangers find a way to put you back together.

"Humpty Dumpty" I blurted out.

"What the hell Aubrey" Bryan questioned me.

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King's horses and all the King's men, couldn't put Humpty back together again."
I recited.

To say I was given some crazy looks, was a wild understatement.

"Sometimes we sit upon a wall of indecision. We wait as other's pass by and live their best lives. We sit hoping for something good to come along, something to grasp and hold onto. Fear grips us, so we stay stagnant, in place, wishing for someone or something to reveal itself. All the while, never seeing what those unmade choices are costing us. Essentially, missing our destiny. And, when the world has finally made your choice for you, you fall into broken pieces. Because, no one can change what you are and who you will become. We have to make the hard decisions to reap the rewards." I breathed out.

"And sometimes, the choices we do make, lead to paths we never knew existed. And, that is where I have been blessed. A King and his Warriors somehow put my broken pieces back together again." I affirmed.

***Jackson's POV***

Aubrey has always been a sight to behold. But, she never failed to continually impress. Her words could motivate the sun to rise and the moon to shine. She was truly a masterpiece.

We stood in stunned silence as she spoke her words of revelry. I would never get tired of her epiphanies. She just had an understated elegance.

***Bryan's POV****

Wow.

Aubrey was majestic. She spoke like an ancient counselor who had died many deaths and lived many lives.

In a way she had. She was absolutely enchanting. The Moon Goddess had chosen well.

***Ethan's POV***

Aubrey never failed to steal our hearts. I'm not sure she even knew the effect she had on those around her. Her honesty was so genuine. She was raw and full of emotion and at any given moment she could knock you off your feet.

I had never been in the presence of someone who emanated such strength and wisdom. She illuminated the universe with her existence.

***Persephone's POV***

We watched Aubrey as she spoke her revelation. Her words resounding courageously thru the air. She was an entity all by herself. Even without an enchantment, she would have done great deeds.

We had never been more awestruck by a chosen one in all our centuries. The only one who came close was Darius. Aubrey put us Deities to shame with the sheer volume of her heart and conviction.

She had spent so many years in an anguished hell, and yet she continued to blind the world with her light.

She was an Angel.

One that the Earth had no right to contain.

I had never been more proud of a single being.

She was truly royalty.

***Darius POV**

My Luna, was absolutely the most precious and other worldly presence I had ever come into contact with.

I watched as she regaled us with her enlightenment.

She, undoubtedly, had no idea what she had done.

Her words proved her courage and her beauty.

Her power radiated off of her in complete dominance.

I was unable to look away.

I felt unworthy to be in her presence.

***Aubrey's POV***

I opened my eyes and gasped at what I watched unfold.

In my tiny living room, where death had licked my soul too many times to count, I was saturated with life.

My King and my three chosen warriors were down on one knee, bowing before me. And, all at once they chanted:

"Our Queen"

While bowing their heads.

Tears streamed down my face in a silent thank you for the turn my life had taken.
