Chapter 97 - The Walk

Michael's POV

"So when were you going to tell me you brought Tatiana back on tour?" Frank asks putting a cigar in his mouth.

"I don't know." I shrug. "I didn't plan on all of this to happen."

"Mike, I hope you know what you're getting into..."

I furrow my eyebrows snapping my attention to him. "What do you mean?"

"You know-"he waves his hand around trying to find the right words. He sighs running a hand through his slick hair.

"Listen..." he sighs out. "I really like Tatiana. She's a good kid, but Mike you gotta be careful. You have to focus on this tour. You both had so much drama and turmoil. You both almost lost your lives over each other..."

"I know." I mumble.

"And I understand I'm working for you, kid. But I'm not going to tolerate it again. Your focus shouldn't be on anything but-"

"Frank listen." I stare at him seriously. "I promise nothing like that will ever happen again. Things are different, I'm different..." my voice trails off for a moment before looking away.

"I hope so, kid. But I'm letting you know as a friend, don't get in too deep." he shakes his head putting his cigar back in his mouth before looking down at the papers on his desk. "Women are dangerous."

I sit back in my chair staring off into space. "For her it's worth the risk."

Franks looks up at me slowly taking his cigar out of his mouth.

"You really love her, don't you?"

I nod. "More than anything or anyone."

The room fills with silence for a moment as I feel Frank's eyes on me.

"So what are you going to do about it?" he asks, breaking the silence.

"You'll see..." I whisper. "You'll see..."

**

After meeting with Frank, I walk down the hall to my hotel room. I look down the hall where Tatiana's room was, taking a glance at my watch.

9:30 pm.

I sigh deeply as I walk past my room going to hers. I stand there for a moment awkwardly, suddenly feeling nervous.

"What am I doing?" I think to myself, before knocking on the door slowly.

"Just a minute!" I hear on the opposite side of the door.

I bite down on my lip waiting silently, before the door flings wide open.

"Hey..." she breathes out, as I suddenly grow lost for words.

She wore a black tank top, with high waist jean shorts. But what made my stomach flip was the shirt she wore over her tank. It was my white button down shirt. From one of our nights together...

I keep staring at her, her beauty hypnotizing me.

"God, I love you so much..." I think to myself.

"Michael?" Tatiana says as I snap out of my thoughts.

I shake my head feeling my face flush, as I look down.

"Sorry..." I chuckle slowly and bite my lip. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah...sure..." she whispers as she moves out the way letting me walk in.

I walk in awkwardly, clearing my throat.

"Uhm, how was the meeting?" she asks quietly breaking the silence.

"Good, uhm...I came by last night and this morning." I say quietly.

"Oh."

"Oh?" I frown and turn around looking over at her. "Are you avoiding me?"

"No, I'm just trying to get used to being back." she says looking down, playing with her fingers.

I nod and look away. It was something more, as another long silence fills the air. I look out the window and looks back at her.

I remain silent as I look out the window.

"Come on..." I say grabbing a blanket off the chair and grabbing her hand.

She furrows her eyebrows as we walk out the suite doors.

"Where are we going?" she asks.

"Out." I answer simply as we walk down the halls to the elevator.

"Michael, I was going to get ready for bed...we have rehearsal tomorrow-"

"And I'm the boss. I'll make rehearsal time later." I say as we go in the elevator doors. I press a button and we reach the hotel lobby.

"Michael, Frank is going to do room checks..." Tatiana warns.

I grab her hand, as we sneak through the back of the hotel, going through the kitchen, and out the doors.

"Michael, I don't think-"

"Ssshh..." I chuckle. "Just be dangerous with me, okay?" I smirk lightly. She breaks into a soft laugh and rolls her eyes.

"Fine..." she mumbles stubbornly.

I chuckle as we walk slowly through the darkness.

"So where are we heading to?" she asks quietly. I gently squeeze her hand.

"To the beach out here..." I answer quietly. "I always wanted to just walk the beach..."

She stays silent as we walk through the sand.

The bright, full moon castes over the calm sea. The radiant light is shining onto the waters in the horizon. The only sounds filling the night air are the soft sounds of the ocean. I look over at Tatiana as we walk side by side.

"Can I ask you something?" I ask softly.

"Mhm..."

"Do you think you'll love me again, someday?"

She freezes for a quick second before her body relaxes again. "I don't know."

I swallow hard as I stare straight ahead. I suddenly stop walking and bite my lip, coming to a realization.

"You're scared."

"What?" she shoots her head at me.

"You're scared to love me." I face her.

"Can you blame me?" she says quietly, looking down.

I stare at her gently bringing my hand under her chin, making me look up at me. I stare in her eyes painfully. She was more than scared. She was terrified, hurt, and confused.

Her eyes well up as she turns her head away from my hand, looking away.

"Why?" I whisper.

"Why wouldn't I?" she asks staring up at me. "How do you expect me to love you, after everything? Fuck Michael..." she says wiping her tears away. "I don't know what we are, or what I even want us to be."

I look down putting my hands in my pocket taking a deep breath. "Then I'll wait."

She scoffs lightly shaking her head.

"I will." I tell her.

"Do you know why I love you?" I ask her as she stays silent. "I love you because you're everything I'm not."

She looks up at me confused.

"You and I..." I chuckle softly looking up at the Hawaiian stars.

"Girl, we are both alike in so many ways. But at the same time, you're everything I'm not. You're not afraid to tell me "no" or how you think or feel. You're not afraid to challenge me. To bring out the best in me..." I whisper. "You are everything and more than what I thought I deserved. So I'll wait, Tatiana. Whatever you want me or us to be, I'll be. All you have to do is know that I love you through it all."

She stares in my eyes as tears slowly fall from her face.

"I love you, Tatiana. And that will never change."

Tatiana's POV

I stare in Michael's eyes, taking in his words.

I love you and that will never change.

I stare in his deep brown eyes. Here he was standing infront of me. Wanting me to love him, but willing to wait.

He brings his hand up to my face, caressing my cheek. He uses his thumb to wipe away my tears gently before pressing his lips against my forehead keeping them there.

I slowly raise my head, letting his lips trail down my nose smoothly. His lips finally meet mine, as he kisses me slowly.

The way he kissed me was so sweet, tender, and soft. Yet, there was so much passion in it.

He moved his lips off mine slightly kissing the side of my mouth lightly. His lips slowly graze my cheek, as he moves to my ear.

"I love you..." he whispers in my ear.

Bill's POV

"Bill, you got a call on line 1." one of Neverland's secretary announces, peeking from the doorway.

"Alright, thank you."

I quickly grab the phone. "Hello, this is Bill Bray."

"Yes, this is a Alfred Prestel. I'm returning your phone call. "

In my younger days before I became a bodyguard, I worked for the L.A. police force. My partner was Larry Prestel. He was one of the best cops in the state. His son who is now grown, works in the autopsy unit where Rachel is dead. It's the only way I can see the body, and identify her before the family takes it.

I had to give Michael a peace of mind, over this.

I sit up straight hearing his voice. "Oh yes..yes. Thank you for returning my phone call. I had some--"

"Mr. Bray-- I know you're calling about Rachel Gordon." he whispers over the phone. "I know you also worked with my father back in the day, but I can get into a lot of trouble discussing this with someone who isn't working on the case. "

"Alfred, listen..." I breathe out. "You work where her body is being kept. All I need is to see if its her."

"Bill, I would. But it's extremely difficult. I could lose my job."

I sigh running a hand over my face. "Please Al. I protected your father. I need to do the same for Michael."

He stays silent for a moment.

"Meet me tomorrow at 7." he whispers. "In the back of the morgue."
