Tear In The Page
Life is filled with if's and but's. You never really expect what it's gonna throw at you. While living you experience many things that allow you to conform to the many obstacles you face.
Life for me has always been filled with missing pieces and unfinished sentences. I have never been one to complain about the things I was given, because there is always someone who is worse off than you. When it came to family, that's where things really got rough. Over time I had noticed small things that didn't add up. There were always things that didn't make sense to me. All of my other siblings in the house had millions of baby pictures and pictures of mom still pregnant with them. At that time pictures were really popular because they had just been made with easier access due to the Polaroid camera.
I had decided that it would ease my mind if I asked for an explanation as to why I had always seemed to be the odd one out.
My feet moved across the floor and took me to my door where I turned the knob and entered the hallway slowly. I moved to the other end of the hall where the staircase flowed into the living space. My mother was always on the kitchen making something and dad was wherever he felt the need to be at that time. I walked into the kitchen and discussed the matter with my parents. And that is why I am where I am, writing what I am writing.
Papers lay scattered across my lap while I wait. The train that I was in made a large amount of noise while it took me to where I needed to be. My life has been changed. For better or worse, only the good lord should know.
My eyes slowly started to produce a flutter and my head bobbed while I fought sleep. I did my best to stay awake and go over the information I was given, but I had beef up for two days.
I woke with a jerk of my arm and blinked quickly. I glanced around myself to gain confirmation as to where I was. I then grabbed my papers and proceeded to go out the doors of the train. I made it to Mississippi where my father lived before he put me up for adoption. I had just learned about him not less that two weeks ago. My life plans had been turned up on their sides after learning something so interesting about my own life. I would now set out to find the one who gave me my beginning.
In my hand, a picture of my father stay. Life didn't seem quite right until now. The only thing that seems out of place, is that I must prove worthy to do the impossible. I have to find my father. I was told that my mother died of a heart attack at age 40 in the Mississippi hospital down the highway from the old folks home. She was mighty young to be having a heart attack. They did their best to save her, but just couldn't quite keep her alive.
After addressing that my father had been here not but two years ago, I set out in search of him. Every post office and restaurant in a 20 mile radius was looking for a man named William. William Horton was a 45 year old man who had greying hair and a grey beard. I had previously been told that he was a businessman with lots of money. He was an intelligent man with many great ideas. He was so smart, that all of the things he made were too advanced for the time period they belonged to. After years went by he decided to give up his inventions and find new work.
