Daniella walked into her first class with Eli and Demetri, feeling a sense of relief and excitement. It was so refreshing to have her old friends back, and since the night she apologized, she and Eli had been texting back and forth. Every time his name popped up on her screen, she'd feel a rush of excitement—blushing, squealing, and running to Sam to ask what she should say in reply. Even though she'd never admit it, Daniella definitely had feelings for him. She convinced herself that Eli didn't feel the same way, but the truth was, that wasn't at all the case.

As they walked to Demetri's class, Daniella waved at him playfully. "Bye, Dem!" she said, giving him a silly salute.

Demetri rolled his eyes but grinned. "See you later, weirdo," he called over his shoulder as he disappeared into his class.

Now it was just Eli and Daniella walking to their first class together. The walk was silent, but it wasn't awkward—just comfortable. They both knew they liked each other, but neither of them was brave enough to say it aloud yet.

"So, um... how's your mom?" Daniella asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. She hadn't seen Ms. Moskowitz since last year.

Eli turned to her with a smile. "She's good," he said. His voice was warm, and the way he looked at her made Daniella feel like everything was okay. They reached their classroom, and as they entered, they found two empty seats side by side. They set their stuff down and took their seats.

The teacher began handing out papers, and Daniella absentmindedly bit on the end of her pencil as she read the questions. "What the hell..." she muttered under her breath, frustrated at the complexity of the task.

Eli, who was sitting close enough to hear her, leaned over. Daniella could feel the warmth of his breath on her skin, and her heart raced as she tried not to let her nervousness show. She couldn't help but notice just how close they were. It made her blush, and she quickly looked away.

"It's this," Eli pointed to the answer on her paper, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

Daniella grinned, feeling a rush of happiness. "You're the best!" she said, throwing her arm around his shoulder in a friendly gesture. She could feel him stiffen a little at the contact, but he blushed nonetheless.

They pulled away, and Daniella finished her work with Eli by her side, offering help here and there. When class ended, they waved each other off as they went their separate ways for the next period.

Daniella entered her second class, scanning the room for a place to sit. Her eyes landed on an empty desk next to an Ecuadorian boy with braces. She sat down, noticing the way his eyes widened in surprise as she did. *Surely, he never talks to a girl besides his mom,* she thought to herself with a small smile.

Turning to him, she introduced herself. "Hi! I'm Daniella. Are you new?"

The boy nodded, a nervous smile tugging at his lips. "I'm Miguel, yeah. Just moved here!" He stammered, his voice a little shaky from nerves.

Daniella couldn't help but laugh at his nervousness. She found it endearing. "That's cute," she blurted out before realizing what she had said. Her eyes went wide in shock, and she quickly covered her mouth with her hand. "Sorry, just forget I even said that," she added, her face turning bright red with embarrassment.

Miguel chuckled softly, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks. "No, it's okay," he said, still smiling. "It's... nice to meet you, Daniella."

Daniella smiled back, the awkwardness fading as they continued to talk. She hadn't expected to make a new friend so quickly, but there was something about Miguel that made her feel comfortable.

daniella was seated between eli and demetri as they ranted about comics and which one is better. the night before the first day of school, she told yasmine she was done with her and then blocked her on social media.

now the girl was picking at her nasty lunch food that looked almost expired. she grabbed her pudding and threw herself into the conversation with eli and demetri.

"gosh you guys really are nerds." she sang playfully as the boys rolled their eyes biting back a smile.

daniella glanced around at the cafeteria until she noticed the same boy in her class, miguel. "hey!" she waved at him and he walked over with a smile on his face.

"is it cool if i sit here?" he asked before daniella could say anything demetri cut in "ooh, sorry tables really blowing up right now." daniella bit back a laugh "i can put you on the waitlist, but its probably next semester at the earliest"

"he's joking, sit." daniella grinned at he took a seat next to eli "miguel." "demetri, this is eli, and daniella." demetri commented.

"he's in my class!" daniella beamed as eli flickered his eyes between miguel and daniella. as eli stayed quiet "he's a man of a few words." demetri remarked

daniella looked up from her food tray as her twin sister and yasmine walked to their table the twins waved at each other, as miguel stayed there with heart eyes.

"dude don't torture yourself, those are the rich girls." demetri added. as the rich girls reached their usual table and sat down miguel turned to demetri.

"do you ever talk to them or-?" daniella laughed as demetri sent her a glare "shush you were one of them too." "shut up."

the two bickering kept back and forth until demetri turned to miguel. "oh yeah!" he exclaimed "we hang out after school give each other hand jobs."

daniella scrunched her face up "ew. dude that's my sister." she smacked his head. miguel turned to her in confusion "she's your sister?!" he asked in disbelief.

"yeah? my twin actually." she explained as he nodded "and eli here is the homecoming king! gets laid more then anyone! ain't that right eli!" demetri remarked sarcastically eli let out a airy laugh.

daniella zoned out the rest of the conversation, she looked to her sister and sat up "i'll be back guys." she went to her sisters table and ignored yasmine's comments about her sitting there.

"sam." daniella whispered, sam turned to her sister "what?" she whispered back. "do you think he's cute?" daniella pointed to miguel who was staring at her.

"oh my gosh! you think he's cute!" sam exclaimed but still whispering. "what! no?" sam shot her skeptical face "it's just eli, he obviously sees me as a friend. and i think i just need to move on you know?" she ranted as she stared at the two boys chatting.

she saw miguel heading towards her table "oh shit." she muttered then kyler jumped on the seats next to sam she grimaced at him "ew, im leaving."

she waved by to sam as she walked back to the table she was sitting at with eli and demetri. she heard kyler's friends laugh at miguel "bye rhea!" he walked back to the table.

"so! how'd it go?" demetri remarked sarcastically "what were you even doing?" daniella asked "striking first." daniella looked at him "for who?" he started at her trying to think of anything. because he was there for daniella but he couldn't tell her that.

daniella face scrunched in confusion "was it sam?" he nodded his head, her face fell the laughter now gone "oh." she muttered her voice cracked.

he didn't see her. eli didn't see her. nobody saw her.

although miguel was actually striking first for daniella and eli hated that.
