What If...?

Tsunami walked down the hallways of Jade Mountain briskly. She knocked on the cave wall of Clay's room.

"Hello?" She said.

"Hey Tsunami." Clay said, his mouth full of food. As always. "What are you up to." Tsunami rolled her eyes and nudged his shoulder.

"Trying to find Anemone and Turtle." She said, smiling as goat juice dribbled down his chin. "I promised to teach them about my sister, Orca." Clay shivered and Tsunami didn't blame him. Every time she thought about Orca, she thought about how many little dragonets she had murdered. It made Tsunami's blood boil. Clay stood up and stretched, his muscles rippling.

"Oh," Clay yawned loudly. "I think they went to the library with Starflight."

"Oh, ok." Tsunami turned to go.

"Come on." He said, pushing past her. Tsunami raced after him, smiling as he stumbled when Peril entered. Peril froze, her eyes slamming shut as though Clay might disappear once she couldn't see him anymore.

"Hi." Peril said, her voice wobbly. Tsunami narrowed her eyes, glancing from Clay to Peril. Tsunami tried to trust Peril, but sometimes, it was so hard. Tsunami yawned as Clay nodded.

"Hi Peril." Tsunami gave Clay a shove and he stumbled forward, giving her a glare. I'll apologize to him later. She thought. Right now, she did not feel like talking with Peril. They passed Moon and Fog on their way to the library. Fog smiled at Tsunami and Tsunami tried to look respectful and adult-like.

"Hi girls." Tsunami said. Moon tilted her head at Tsunami and Tsunami looked into her eyes. Unconsciously, she reached up to the Skyfire earring she had in her ear. "Where are you off to?"

"The prey center." Fog said quietly. Her stomach growled and she blushed slightly, red against her amber scales. "Moon says she can catch me a sheep." Moon smiled as Fog nudged her shoulder with her wing. Tsunami couldn't believe how well Fog and Moon were getting along. The first day of Jade Mountain, Moon had been a twitchy dragon, but now, her, Fog, and Kinkajou were all perfect matches for each other.

"Well," Clay said. "We're off to the library. Have fun! Maybe catch me a sheep too!" Moon smiled slightly, ducked her head, and walked off, Fog on her heels. Tsunami smiled at Clay. He grinned and continued to walk. They passed a few more students, but refused to stop. The library came in view, a feeling of peace emitting from it. Clay smiled at Tsunami and yawned again.

"I'm going to go eat." He said. Tsunami turned to him.

"Eat? You just had a goat, like, ten seconds ago!" Clay stretched his wings, examining them.

"That long? Really?" He turned and walked back down the hallway, his long brown tail swishing behind him. Tsunami shook her head and walked into the library.

"Hello?" Starflight said tentatively.

"Just me." Tsunami tapped his desk. "Are Anemone and Turtle here?"

"Over here." A quiet voice called. Anemone was sitting, a scroll in her talons, next to the window. Turtle was sitting right next to her, worry lines creasing his face.

"I hear you want to learn about Orca." Tsunami said, sitting down, folding her wings behind her. Starflight stiffened, but didn't say anything. Anemone turned towards Tsunami with bright eyes.

"Yes, please! I heard she tried to kill me!" Anemone's eyes were sparking dangerously. Tsunami hesitated.

"She didn't try to kill you. She challenged Mother, but died , cursing a statue to kill any potential heirs." Turtle's eyes widened and he clenched his talons. Tsunami didn't understand why he always got quiet and weird whenever they talk about animus. Maybe one day she could pry it from him.

"I wonder what would happen if Orca had won." Anemone mused suddenly. Tsunami looked at her, flabbergasted.

"Well, I don't know." Tsunami blinked rapidly. Anemone suddenly had a glint in her eye that worried Tsunami.

"I wonder if I could find out." Anemone raised her talons up. Turtle suddenly leapt up and ran, but Tsunami was too slow. Anemone was already chanting.

"ANEMONE, NO!" Tsunami shouted. Then everything was sucked into white. Tsunami opened her eyes. It felt like they were standing inside a glowing white room, looking down onto a scene. A dark green dragon that reminded Tsunami painfully of Gill was battling with... Tsunami gave a start. Mother. She looked at the dark green dragon. That must be Orca. Coral suddenly pinned Orca down on her back, the narwhal horn on her tail swinging wildly.

"This is where Mother kills Orca." Tsunami whispered to Anemone. Anemone's eyes were wide, and they were shining. Tsunami's snout crinkled. But instead of Coral stabbing Orca with her tail, Orca grabbed the narwhal horn, twisting out of her range with a sinister CRACK. Tsunami and Anemone gasped simultaneously. Suddenly a SNAP rang though the air. Orca dropped Coral's body onto the ground, stepping away and lifting her dark green wings. Silence filled the air. Then all the dragons gather around shouted,

"QUEEN ORCA!" Then the image faded from view, and everything went dark.
