--Goblinoids
Bestiary > Humanoids > Anthronids > Goblinoids
The nightide races, thought to have been created by dark magic at the hands of evil deities or demons to inflict misery on the good races of the world, are commonly known as goblinoids. On Terrok, the term 'goblin' can mean any of a number of misshapen, cruel and malignant species, from the small and numerous hordeling to the mighty and fearsome ogre.
Goblinoids resemble other anthronids in that they are usually bipedal and sentient, but that is where similarities end. With skin tones ranging from yellow or green to oily black, and sometimes covered in course fur or various numbers of horns and spines, goblinoids, even within species, can have vastly varied appearance. Indeed, mutation and variety seems to be the chief attribute in common among these short lived and quickly reproducing humanoid monsters.
The goblinoids most static in form are also the longest lived and dominant of their kind. Boobaks, a bristle-furred ape-like humanoid capable of primitive tool use thanks to their cruel, almost sinister intelligence, run rampant in large bands over the plains and forests of East Terrok. Kobalo, a cloven-hooved, green-skinned race of humanoids has developed a civilization in the East to rival that of humans in the West. Kobalo in particular, with life spans of up to 35 years and a savage intent on reconquering the human-controlled lands they once ruled, are mankind's greatest exterior threat.
Both Boobaks and Kobalo live only to tear down and destroy, pillaging what they need before moving on to their next victim.
Goblinoids, in the time before the expansion of humans, were very numerous throughout Terrokia. Humans, in the three thousand years since they began civilizing the southern coasts, were able to push them out of the open plains and lowlands of the coastal areas in great wars and crusades of expansion. This expansion ended when humans ran up against the unconquerable peaks of its various mountain ranges, and goblinoids of all varieties still exist in the caves and deep woods of West Terrok. That being said, the majority of this malign race has been exiled to East Terrok, beyond the six peaks and the great dividing mountains of the Great Isthmus.
