Part 4
The very next day Sephora kept her word. The dragons all gathered together to hear what Sephora had to say. She told them the truth.
"My daughter does not spit fire and she never will. She spits out water. Nefataria, show them," Sephora said. Nefataria spit out the water and the dragons jaws dropped. They couldn't believe it.
"What? This is disgusting! How can we have a water spitting dragon. This is gross," One of them protested.
"Get her out of here. She will ruin this community," another one said.
"Wait!" Sephora said, but soon everyone was appalled with the news and the sentiment spread everywhere. The younger dragons began to laugh at Nefataria and this angered Sephora. Nefataria began to cry.
"She can't compete in the fire spitting competitions. What a loser," Dathos said.
"Enough. You are making my daughter cry with your hateful remarks. I will not stand for this," Sephora said and she began to spit balls of intense fire against the other dragons.
"Mom!" Nefataria screamed.
"Cease her!" The dragons said and they began to attack Sephora with flames, wings and claws.
"No!" Nefataria screamed and she spit out water at them putting their fires out.
"You are banned from this community. That is an infection. A disease. You will infect us with this water spitting. We cannot accept you here," Salatath said.
"Sephora, you can stay, but Nefataria cannot," Salatath told her.
"No. If she is banned, then so am I. Come Nefataria, we will leave," Sephora said.
"Think about it, because if you leave, you cannot come back," Salatath told her. Sephora was about to leave, when Fabinacco, one of the giants came over to see what the fuss was all about.
"Hey, what's going on here? Sephora you're back. Hi Nefataria," Fabinacco said.
"I'm sorry Fabinacco, but we are expelling both Sephora and Nefataria from our community. She cannot stay among us," Salatath explained. The giant scratched his head under black dark hair. He was a chubby one, like most giants, but kind hearted and very understanding.
"What? Are you crazy? Sephora is the all time champion of the Fire Spitting competitions. She has like twenty medals, how on Wastilia's lands are you expelling her from the community?" Fabinacco asked.
"Because my daughter is a water spitting dragon," Sephora said.
"A what?" Fabinacco asked. Nefataria then spit out a bunch of water out of her mouth.
"That was... awesome," Fabinacco said.
"Are you kidding? This is a disgrace. It would have been better if she didn't spit anything at all," one of the dragons said.
"This is embarrassing," another one said.
"It could be a disease, Fabinacco. We are very concerned. There has never been a dragon in our history to have ever spit out water. We simply cannot have her in our community anymore," Salatath explained. Fabinacco looked at the two female dragons and then he scratched his chin.
"Well, maybe you can't haver her in your community, but she can certainly hang out with me. Come on girls, you're coming home with me," Fabinacco said.
"What?" Salatath said.
"Look, Sephora has been my teammate for years and I don't see anything wrong with Nefataria spitting out water. You dragons are pathetic. She's your kind and your pushing her away just for that. She hasn't even done anything against you and she was born like that. She can't change that, it's a part of her. You should be ashamed," Fabinacco said. Salatath and the rest of the dragons thought briefly about his words.
"You don't understand the dragon ways. We are proud of our fire," Salatath finally concluded.
"Whatever. Come on girls. You can stay with me," Fabinacco said and so the two dragons abandoned the community and joined the unusual giant. Now Fabinacco didn't know where exactly he was going to place the dragons, but he was thinking about it. He went to visit his grandma, Poppy. Poppy was sewing a sweater for Fabinacco.
"Why are these dragons here?" She asked as she was sewing with a kneedle and cloth in her hand.
"Grandma, they're staying over," Fabinacco said. Poppy looked up.
"What? Where? We don't have room for them. Why aren't they with their community?" Poppy asked and once Fabinacco explained, Poppy understood and agreed with her grandson.
"What fools. All because of water spitting. Dragons certainly are a proud species. Their pride will be their demise. Lamisha was right to leave," Poppy said.
"You know Lamisha?" Nefataria asked Poppy. Poppy giggled.
"Are you kidding? Lamisha and I used to play together when we were kids. Your kind didn't treat him fairly either and he was an amazing creature. He had those blue crystal eyes, that fur over his forehead. Your community should be taught a lesson," Poppy said.
"Okay, so that's great, but we need to find a place for them," Fabinacco said.
"Talk to Bruteloof. I believe he makes homes, maybe he can make something for them," Poppy said.
"Awesome. I'll do that, then. Can you girls stay here?" Fabinacco asked the dragons and they gave him a nod. Fabinacco came back and the dragons laid next to Poppy. Poppy didn't talk much because she was too invested on sewing the sweater, but she did sing the song of giants. Fabinacco came back a while later as the dragons listened to Poppy's song.
"You are in luck. There are actually various homes where you can fit in. Come with me," Fabinacco said.
"Fabinacco, remember to come back for dinner and I will prepare an extra meal for the girls," Poppy said pointing at the dragons.
"Thank you," Sephora said with gratitude. Nefataria smiled. Fabinacco took the dragons to a secluded area. It was kind of solitary, but the dragons were thankful and they stayed in the area. The good thing about it was that they were near the river.
"It's not the best spot, but it's better than nothing and you can fish by the river, but be careful. This is the Weeping River. I have heard that many spirits live under it. They can make you sad and drown you in if you are not careful. If you fish in it, be sure to make it brief and to not allow the sadness sweep you," Fabinacco warned. The dragons nodded. They knew too well the stories of the Weeping River. Dragons who had heard of some form of lament, although none of them had ever fished there and of giants who had almost lost their lives in it.
