Swan X Reader - Part 1 (Introducing The Warriors)
Very Important Yummy Ghost (A-N)
Just a couple of things I'd like to mention before anyone reads this story.
This story is a Sequel to my "The Warriors - Swan X Reader | One Shot (Love Is A Fire)". I would highly recommend reading the Part 1, One Shot before reading this Part 2 which is a rather long sequel, that I have made into a full book. You can find Part 1 on my Wattpad Page and it looks like this. :)
The reason I'm writing a sequel is not only because I had loads of fun with the One Shot that left me with loads of ideas left over, but this was also desperately wanted by Blink-Army08 so here it is. :)
For anyone new here, please be aware that the Part 1 One Shot and this Sequel does contain spoilers for three versions of The Warriors: The 1979 film directed by Walter Hill, The 2005 video game by Rockstar Games and Comic Books produced by Dynamite Entertainment. I have used information from these versions of The Warriors so you have been warned of spoilers. On the bonus side, I have also studied the Come Out To Play Board Game by Funko to learn a bit more about new characters I have added, so there is a little Easter Egg for you all to look out for. ;)
Secondly, even though this piece of FanFiction is based on the film, video game and comics, I want to say that they're NOT identical. I have changed some dialogue to make it suitable for the reader to be a part of the story.
Finally, there are also some off putting topics in this piece of FanFiction that may upset some readers or make some readers uncomfortable. There are common things such as: smoking, swearing, violence and gambling. The more aggressive topics may include: physical abuse, rape, drugs, overdosing, abortions, alcohol abuse, racism, murder and homophobia. I only warn you of these now as some readers may not want to read about any of these dark subjects. Not to mention, back in the 1970's racist and homophobic language was used a lot more commonly back then. An example is the word "Faggot" being used a lot. This does NOT make me homophobic by using this language, in this piece. I only wanted to write this out of fun and to be as similar to the film, game and comics as possible.
You have been warned, you may now read and please enjoy. :D
Over the last couple of months Cleon had been gaining a reputation for The Warriors, there were many more recruits and names coming about as The Warriors claimed Coney.
There was of course, Swan. The man who was second in command of The Warriors. If anything were to happen to Cleon, Swan was Warchief and the new leaders.
There was still good old Vermin, who was by Cleon's side as he founded The Warriors from day one.
And of course, you and Cowboy who joined the same night as Swan... So there were originally five of you, but the weeks and months passed, that all changed.
In mid-June of 1978 two boys by the names of Ajax and Snowball or Snow for short, joined the gang. Cleon put them through some tough challenges and their final one was 'The Pen' he put the two guys in a pen and threw whatever Warrior and Homeless junkie was around at them. If Ajax and Snow proved that they were tough enough, then they earned their vests.
After a complete rumble with man after man being thrown at Ajax and Snow, The Pen was ended and vests were given. Ajax was a machine, sure he came out of that fight, beaten, bruised and bloody, but he didn't share any sign of pain or ache. He was a man who stood over six feet tall and was walking muscle, probably the strongest Warrior yet... On the downside, he was a complete jackass, he couldn't keep his mouth shut and was all cocky talk. To Ajax, he thought his fists were the best weapon to man, but in reality, it's your mouth. As for Snowball, sure he was weaker, but he had more brightness to him. Snow came out of The Pen just like Ajax, bloody nose and bruised eyes, but he expressed his injuries, he wasn't afraid to show that he was sore.
Just under a month later, in July of 1978, a fella called Fox appeared. Sure he wasn't the fighting man Ajax would like to boast about, but Cleon knew that The Warriors would need a good scout, a real sneaky fucker who could listen in on private conversations whilst not being seen in broad daylight. There was also a bonus to Fox's fight skills that not many people carried out, he was clever with weaponry. Fox could slash a knife scarier than anyone, you'd be holding your stab wound before you could see the second slash coming. So Cleon sent Fox out with Vermin to another weapon-associated gang in New York. Cleon wanted money and to give another gang a step back. So the Savage Huns of Chinatown were the pick.
Cleon's mission included:
• Tagging over their Chinese Dragon marks.
•Stealing their ledger from the Savage Huns' accountant.
•And stealing their gambling money and paid off debts from the small loan sharking business they had set up.
None of that was going to be easy and with Cleon handing the two men some offensive t-shirts saying 'Fuck U Huns' which was doubled sided; made the Huns turn into Bulls as if they were seeing red.
A couple of hours flew by and Cleon waited by the Train Station with a few other Warriors to see if The New Blood had been successful and by the looks of it, Fox had been far more than successful. Not only was his bottle of spray paint empty, but he also had a bag full of cash, a ledger full of Hanzi Characters and a lock of silver hair from Ghost, the leader of The Savage Huns.
The unexpected lock of hair was more than enough for Cleon, since Ghost was a man who cared about his appearance. Cleon was more than happy for Fox to trade in his 'Fuck U Huns' shirt for a Warriors vest and that's what happened. You ended up with a new friend and a new guy to sneak around with on missions.
July left and August came around in the same year. One night, The Warriors were being pestered by a lanky, but muscular black kid, named Cochise. He grew up in Harlem, New York, but his Momma moved him to Brooklyn as an older teenager. Cochise claimed he wanted to run with a tough gang, a tough gang with a solid outfit and no shiny purple vest. Cochise may have had the correct mindset, the beads and the jeans, but he didn't have the vest. Cleon saw something in Cochise though, he saw determination and a smart mouth, so he decided to give him a shot. If Cochise was able to set foot in Harlem again and return with a Bopper's Hat, he was in. However, the hat had to be a size nine, a bucket if you will. Cleon sent Snow with Cochise to make sure that he didn't get too brave or obsessed with the task.
Cochise and Snow knew that the hat snatching was the easy part, it was finding one of that size that was going to be tricky. Cochise searched all over Harlem with Snow and there was no luck at first. They smashed up and caused chaos in every bar, club, party, brothel and strip club in hopes of some big-headed Booper to steal from. They got the name Big Mo from some Bopper they interrogated inside a disco, but they kept getting the wrong locations after that. Thankfully, a stripper by the name of Debbie came into action and with enough cash, she gave away the answers the Cochise was needing and her Staff Pass with how much he was tipping her. With the pass to a new club that hadn't been checked yet, they were able to track Big Mo down and challenge him on the dance floor; and by challenging him on the dancing floor, it was more fighting than it was dancing. Dancing was a form of mockery in this fight and by far one of the most difficult fights a Warrior would experience.
Big Mo was exactly how he sounded, over six feet tall, dark-skinned and large in weight. He wasn't the fastest man you would end up fighting, but he sure as shit was intense and didn't take fights lightly. After a ten-minute rumble with smoke machines, lights and music playing in the background, Big Mo was knocked to the floor fully blacked out and Cochise was able to leave with a size nine Bopper's hat for Cleon's display.
After Cochise joined, there were no other major recruits. There was the odd newbie here 'n' there but they were like extras, just little background characters.
It wasn't until April 13th, 1979 that Rembrandt joined The Warriors. He was probably the youngest of the crew yet, seventeen pushing on eighteen maybe? Just a small Hispanic boy with a talent for art and writing. Cleon was looking for a guy with that sort of talent, but what was any use in recruiting a tagger if there were no self-defense skills? So Cleon did what he did to Ajax and Snow, The Pen. First, he started by throwing in homeless bums to see how well Rembrandt could throw a punch and get his rage up. Then once the easy level has been proven, Cleon threw in some Warriors. Snow and Vermin gave Rembrandt a run for his money and got tossed about like punching bags, turns out that Rembrandt can be a little ruff houser when agitated, but he didn't stay victorious for long. Cleon threw Ajax into The Pen and if Rembrandt lived. He was a soldier.
"Come here, you little wimp!" Ajax cracked his knuckles. "Ohh fuck." Rembrandt gulped and glared at Ajax who was much taller and much more muscular than him.
Cleon gave the fight between Rembrandt and Ajax just over five minutes and then called it quits. Ajax had taken a few scratches and caught a bust nose, but Rembrandt was getting to the point of exhaustion, he had survived against the most aggressive Warrior known to the whole gang and if Cleon kept the fight going, then someone was going to end up hospitalized or dead. Rembrandt survived and if you could survive a fight against Ajax, you were good enough for Cleon.
