3 - Are You The Enemy?

Hi. Don't kill me. I'm back, aren't I?

Instead of taking this time to apologize and all of that, let me explain a few things about this Minecraft universe:

- they don't need to use the bathroom. In fact, toilets don't exist. Any reference to them is either a mitsake or fourth wall break
- showers are real, but most of the time, the dirt on people just fades away.
- they can wear different outfits, but they just choose not to unless it is a formal event or hotter or colder environment.
- lmao where did inventory bags go? Let's just forget about them. Adding them was a big mitsake on my part.
- I think that's it.
- prepare for mitsakes

Previously on The Warrior...

Ever since Notch formally revealed I was his child, I had been the most famous teenager in the city. It bothered the Nether out of me— especially since it was all a lie. I wasn't actually Notch's daughter. Then again, we were better off telling them I was the daughter of the nice god instead of the evil one. Only Notch and I knew I was Herobrine's daughter. No one else knew. No one else needed to know.

"It was worth a look at." Notch said. "However, now we know that we cannot trust anyone. Herobrine has had Bladville for a while now. He is using their people to trick us. To blend into our crowd."

"Who is my mom?" I mumbled, staring at the ground. It was the first question that popped into my mind.

Notch's face showed pity and sorrow. "That information is... unclear. I promise, I do not know. Nobody knows except my brother himself."

"After you were born, my brother and I had a heated discussion about it. That having a child was... forbidden. It was very hard to compromise. He was being rather difficult about it. However, after many threats and almost physical encounters, we came to one."

"What was the compromise?" I asked.

"To release you into the care of an ordinary couple. Herobrine was furious about it, but he complied. I should have known that he was up to something, since he should have fought harder—"

"Wait." I stopped him. "I had an adoptive family? Like a mom and a dad?"

"I had to take away your memories. If I came to you with the truth about your father, you would not have believed me. Yes, I did put you somewhere. It was in an unknown location in the world for only a month. For safety's sake, I would not like to talk about it."

We had been at war for two weeks. Nothing had happened. Armies were being mobilized and distributed, but no action had started yet. That should have been a good thing, but the suspense was driving me insane. I expected Herobrine to fly into the city any minute with his massive army and crush us all.

I was also scared about that whole situation. My father was evil. Is it genetic? Am I going to eventually have maniacal thoughts? Am I going to have that weird and stereotypical evil laugh?

"No." Abby pushed his hand down. "Are you going to tell us why you want to turn this into nuclear warfare?"

I knew he was going to say 'army base'. Ever since it was destroyed, the topic had been touchy. Only half the members made it out alive.

I didn't need to play with her anymore. I decided to focus on the real reason why I was there. "I'll tell you who the girl behind the title is. The girl behind the title is a teenager who's fighting for a bigger cause. She came from a troubled past, but she's going to work hard for a better future. She's going to keep at this war and give it everything she has. She's going to fight for what she believes in: a world with freedom and prosperity." I smiled at a camera innocently. "And she has no time for silly gossip."

And now...

"That could have gone better."

"Sorry," I shrugged unapologetically, "she was annoying."

( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

"She also kicked you off of the set," Notch pointed out.

"It's not my fault. I spoke my mind and stuck true to myself. Aren't those the kinds of lessons people are always trying to teach?"

"You do not necessarily need to do that on live television."

"Everything on tv is fake." I sighed sitting down in one of his chairs. "Especially that Total Drama Minecraft show."

(Your move, Radishologist )

"As much as I hate to say it, we do need to get you out there. Make sure people know you support our side, and you will fight for it."

"I'm already labelled as your daughter, though. What else would make people know I'm on your side?"

"Some people did not like the interview with Odette Von Holt. That, plus the events occurring in Bladville, led them to believe you are too impulsive."

"I can show them impulsive," I growled.

"Just like that." He warned. "Be careful. Remember your emotions."

"Yeah, yeah," I waved it away, "so what can I do?"

"For one, be in the public more."

"Surrounded by all those cameras?"

"It is bothersome," he admitted, "but necessary. Also, attend more public events."

"Like?"

"The one I am thinking of in particular is the party that the Sky army is hosting in three days. A closed celebration for the army base's fifth birthday. If you show up, you could gain more followers."

"This sounds suspiciously like that one Hunger Games book series," I muttered.

"There is a book series?" Notch asked. "I thought those boys made up that silly game. Huh. Anyway, I urge you to go there. I talked to Adam about it, and he would be delighted if you came."

"I'm so thrilled."

"If you do not want to do it, I will not make you." He said. "However, I believe it is a wise decision."

"Well that kinda means I should do it." I sighed again, and got up. "What's the celebration exactly?"

"As I said, it is closed, only to the base members, council members, and you of course. In fact, only those people know about it. And me, of course. Adam does not like to be too public. Most of the common folk will attend outdoor picnics with family and friends. You will be at the main social gathering in Adam's mansion. It is a fancier event, which means you have to dress up and act proper."

"Gross," I scrunched up my face, "fancy stuff."

"It is a small price to pay." He pretended to sound pitiful. "It will assist you with your goal of winning people over, though."

"Is anyone coming with me or is this a lone wolf job?"

"You can invite your friends. Also, of course you should bring your date." He winked.

I groaned. "Okay, you don't need to act like an embarrassing father."

After I said that, I winced and looked off to the left. Notch must have noticed my expression.

"Do you plan to tell them?" He asked. "Your friends?"

"Man, I don't know. I just want to forget it all. I wish I never asked for the truth."

"The truth is usually better than lies. I am just sorry that yours is so..."

"Horrifying?"

He said nothing. Instead, he grimaced.

"Yeah," I nodded, "I agree."

"I heard some of the reactions behind us," Abby informed me, "some people respected your decision to keep your privacy to yourself. Others thought it was offensive."

"In other words," Skye said, "you got people to either hate you more or love you more."

I replied, "Well that's progress."

"I still think the publicity can be good." Mastermind said, glancing down at the few people at the front of the building. "We can use it to our advantage."

"Do you know how annoying it is to have people keep asking me questions?" Link asked. He was on the bed playing a card game with Danny. "Don't answer that. You probably do."

"I like it!" Danny placed a creeper card on the blanket. "I've made a lot of friends."

I smiled at his innocence. I was glad that Jake finally forgave Link, and we were able to visit their hotel without it being awkward. It was upsetting that he blamed Link for the destruction of his army base. It was all Herobrine's fault— Link couldn't have stopped it.

"Still," Jona said, "it would be nice to go places without being followed."

"Better than being stalked by the enemy," Abby replied.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

"Are you the enemy?" Gordon hollered.

"Yes I am." A voice from the other side of the door yelled back. Except it didn't belong to anyone evil.

Skye opened the door, and standing in the doorway were Ash, Scarlet, and Preston.

Danny dropped the cards he was holding when he saw Preston. "No way!"

"Hi there." The lava mob chuckled. "Can we come in?"

"Sure." Link said as Danny screamed, "Yes!"

"Danny, is it?" Preston asked the little kid. After Danny nodded in a fast manner, he continued, "I heard from someone that you are a great sniper."

He shrugged. "I'm okay. But I hope to be as good as you when I get older."

"Well I heard differently." Preston glanced at Link. "I heard you hit a creeper in the forest square in the head!"

"It's true." Danny beamed with pride.

"You're a good archer. I'm not doing anything today; do you want to go to the archery range a few blocks down?"

Danny gasped. "That would be amazing! Can I go, Link? Can I?"

I noticed that he asked Link for permission instead of Jake, like he would have in the past.

"Sure," Link smiled. It was clear that Link asked Preston to take him there.

"You can come too if you want." Preston raised an eyebrow at him.

Link shook his head. "Nah. These guys just came over."

"No, it's fine," Jake said blankly, "you go ahead. We have some important things to do anyway."

Link looked at him. I couldn't see his eyes because of the sunglasses, but I could feel the tension. "Alright. Let's go, Danny."

The three left the room.

"You two boys need to kiss and make up." Scarlet remarked.

"We're fine," Jake rolled his eyes.

I looked around the crowded golden room. It was brightly lit with large glowstone chandeliers on the ceiling high up. The place was filled with at least two hundred council members, families, and friends. They were all wearing dresses and tuxes and were mingling with one another.

I took in a deep breath. My hands fiddled with the full glass of water I was holding.

"Don't worry." Jake took one of my hands and held it between his. "You look beautiful."

I smiled and glanced down at the long-sleeve purple dress I was wearing. My gaze shifted to the suit he sported.

I wanted to tell him he looked handsome, or even say thank you, but instead all that came out was, "Thank."

He tried not to laugh. "You wel."

"Shut up!" I punched his chest lightly.

"Ooo, are we beating up Jake?"

I looked over at our friends by the dessert table. Infinity, Gordon, Abby, Jazz, Elly, and Rein were trying out the sweets. Infinity had on a navy blue dress with straps, and Elly and Rein wore matching burgundy dresses, though Elly's was long-sleeved and Rein's was sleeveless. Abby's was a long dark green that matched Gordon's tie, which made me suspicious.

Our other friends were around the room. Yuri was probably off talking with some important council members. Scarlet, Ash, and Mastermind were having a conversation with Skye and Jona glancing at them from a distance. Scarlet wore a short-sleeved dress that matched her name. I didn't really care about the others' attire.

"Can I join in?" Infinity continued.

"Infinity," Jake warned her, "be nice. No acting childish tonight."

"I know that. I just want one punch to get me through the rest of the party," She huffed.

He shook his head at her, then turned back to me. "Have you talked to Adam yet?"

I grimaced. "Not yet. I'm just nervous about saying the wrong thing."

"Since when are you nervous about that?" He raised an eyebrow with a smile hinting at his lips.

"Ever since I found out that what I do greatly affects the war effort." I sighed.

Jake laughed. "You'll be fine. You always are."

I could've thought up many instances where I was not fine, but Yuri cut me off.

"Katherine!"

I growled, and turned around, ready to give him the worst glare I could. However, my expression faded when I saw who was with him.

"Hello, Kat." Adam smiled at me. He wore a dark gray suit with a gold tie.

I straightened up. "Hi, Adam. How are you doing?"

"I'm doing well, and you?"

"I'm good. This party is amazing. Your house is incredible."

He chuckled. "Thank you. It seems too yellow, don't you think?"

"I thought you liked gold," Infinity said. Abby nudged her.

Adam looked around at the designs and exhaled. "I suppose. I'm sorry, I am not at my best. Work has been killing me. However, I'm still glad we still had this party despite the dark situation we're in."

I pressed my lips together. "Happy Anniversary, by the way."

His smile returned. I realized that it didn't reach his tired eyes. "Thank you. It doesn't seem like it's been five years. I still remember when I participated with the building committee when it was first being made. I did a horrible job; they had to keep replacing everything I made."

We all laughed at that.

"Anyway, I'm happy you all came," Adam said.

"Thank you for inviting us," I replied.

He nodded. "We plan to have the fireworks show start in an hour. Remember to get out there so you can find a good spot!" With that, he left.

"See? You did good," Jake complimented me.

I smiled and looked down.

"Cute." Scarlet said with a deadpanned face as she, Ash, Mastermind, Jona, and Skye approached us. "Now are we going to go socialize or do whatever we came here to do?"

I glanced at the big crowd of strangers. Then, I took a deep breath. "Okay. Let's do this."

We spent the next hour conversing with other council members. There were also random people that I went up to and started a conversation with. I really didn't know who they were, but I complimented them and probably got them to like me.

The three stooges kept trying to get Jake and I to dance. Infinity wanted to see a Kake moment, and Gordon and Abby were agreeing with her. Abby pointed out the fact that people might approve me if I show my soft side. Truthfully, I just didn't like dancing. I hoped that Jake didn't feel offended or hurt.

Around the time Adam said the fireworks would start, we shuffled outside where it was now dark. The front of Adam's mansion was a large cobblestone courtyard with a few fountains and flora. Past the courtyard, the ground dipped down a hill and into the town. There were plenty of parks and outdoor areas where I saw lights from families and friends gathering together. The base had a gold and obsidian wall around it to protect from mobs. I saw three carefully placed army camps spread along the wall. However, no one was patrolling the walls, and I didn't see anyone in the camps. They were all with their loved ones enjoying themselves.

Skye whistled. "What a view."

"I can see why Adam made his house right here." Abby nodded in approval.

(Get ready for a cute cliche moment)

As a wind blew through the courtyard, I did a quick shiver.

"Are you cold?" Jake asked me.

I shook my head. "I'm just used to a less revealing outfit. I'm fine."

"If I've learned anything," he took off his jacket, "it's that when a girl says she's fine, she's really not." He draped it over my shoulders.

"Such a gentleman." I teased him.

He smiled, and leaned in for a kiss. However, a loud explosion made us both jerk our heads to the sound. We turned just in time to see a giant yellow firework fizzle away. Then, a purple one exploded near the same area. The firework count in the sky started to increase as many colors lit up the night.

"I love those kinds!" Gordon exclaimed when small bursts appeared in a quick timelapse.

We all watched the show continue on. I didn't know how long it was during the process, but it was about twenty minutes in when a different group of fireworks exploded.

"Is that a yellow S?" Yuri asked.

As soon as the giant letter disappeared, another appeared.

"K," I said.

After that, another.

"Y!" A few people called out from behind us.

I turned around at the crowd. There were so many smiling faces and people holding each other.

"A!" This time, more of my friends joined in. I looked at them. They were grinning with bright eyes. I really appreciated them at that moment for coming with me.

"R!" Jake joined in. When he noticed I was looking at him, he gave me a big smile and held my hand.

"M!" I heard some of the townspeople close to us down the hill screaming out the letter. They were all so excited, enjoying the beautiful moment.

"Y!" I shouted the final letter along with everyone else.

At that moment, I felt happy. I felt proud, confident, and positive. Like we could do this. All of it.

Although it wasn't planned, everyone yelled the words together, "SKY ARMY!" Then, we all cheered.

As soon as the clapping and hurrahs began, I heard another explosion. At first I thought the firework show was still continuing, but then I realized that it was coming from behind us. I turned around, and saw a TNT come from the forest and hit the mansion. On impact, the top right corner exploded, and a giant hole appeared.

"What the Nether?!" Adam exclaimed.

All of a sudden, another TNT soared through the air and hit the same place, making the hole even bigger. People started screaming when they noticed it.

Then, a large battle cry was heard from the forest.
