Part 39
Kavita shockingly looked at Rama and Manmohan "but Aunty, how will I go there?"
"Very easy" Kirti prompted
The way Kirti explained them the village route Kavita was about to faint, she looked at Arjun who was equally astounded.
"Just try and convince her to come back home. I just hate her social services" Rama said "ever since she has joined that NGO, I am cursing myself for not banning that for her"
"How long has she been there?" Kavita asked thoughtfully
"She left three days back" Rama made a face "God knows, how she is surviving there"
"Does this place exist in the map?" Arjun curiously looked at the dismal faces around him
Manmohan laughed "if not, she will create it"
Everyone went silent on Manmohan's chuckles
--------------
Kavita kept on thinking about Aarti's decision "I think she's the biggest fool I have ever seen"
"Really?" Arjun giggled
"What's so funny Arjun?"
"Nothing, I just thought Aarti's trying to take your place"
"Do you want me to hit you?"
"No, no please" Arjun smiled and held her wrist...
"What should I do Arjun? I have to give her this invitation. I want her to attend my wedding and she's gone to some weird place, and all this happened because of your friend Veer...I don't know what he thinks about himself"
"Exactly, I pity Veer who may think of going back to her..." Arjun grinned at Kavita who was angrily looking at him...
"Ok, ok... I will go with you to this bizarre place..."
Chakkittapara village was surrounded by palm trees with a river in the front, the houses were old and people barely had any facilities.
Boats were commonly used to travel in between the main road and the village. Not more than four people were able to sit at one time...
No one had ever heard about a mobile, forget having one. Village had a total population of approximately seventy people. These people survived on their little farms on the outskirts of the village. There wasn't any shortage of water, but electricity was still on a planning list for this village.
People of the village were very friendly and welcomed guests, but this village rarely had anyone coming because of the river crossing and the electricity being a problem in the village.
--------
Kavita and Arjun looked at each other while sitting on a local train from Kerala that would drop them till Kozhikode district.
Kavita couldn't believe her friend would take such a step and start living in a village. It sounded so horrible, only this travelling was so agonizing, imagine the rest of the journey would be a nightmare...
"Kavita, why do you look so exasperated?"
"Because I am. Don't you understand, she spoiling her life?"
"Its Aarti's choice. You cannot ask her to do what you like" Arjun retorted
"Ever since she's fallen for your friend, she has lost all her sensibility" she snapped at him
"That's so ridiculous of you. Why the hell are you blaming Veer for this?"
"Because he's responsible" she angrily hissed at him making sure she wasn't loud because of the people sitting closer to them...
The whole train was packed of people. She took off her sunglasses to view outside... all she could see was the green fields...
She nodded her head and decided that she will bring her friend back and not her live in this muck...
The train stopped at the station and the two got off angrily staring at each other
"I don't believe I am marrying you" she quailed over
"Then don't, I am not forcing you" he put the bag over his shoulder
She threw her bag on the ground "to hell with you Arjun. Don't think I will keep tolerating you because I love you" Arjun turned around and looked at her standing in tears "oh come on, you're the one who always starts the fight." He quickly embraced her in his arms "ok I am sorry. Come let's go"
She wiped her tears, both started walking towards the steep path outside the train station...
"Excuse me, is this cab going to... umm...umm" She looked back in her phone "Chakkittapara?" She queried a man sitting in the taxi at the taxi stand
The man smiled at them "no, you have to take that vehicle" he pointed at the three wheeler that was packed with people, almost sitting on each other's lap.
Kavita's mouth drop open at the sight...so many people sitting on two seats inside the three wheeler and few at the back and on the top.
"Arjun...how will we sit on this?"
----------------
Kavita shook her head in despair looking at the place. Then she glanced at the females sitting in the vehicle who covered themselves from head to toe. Every one wore a sari, she was the only one in jeans and t-shirt.
The females sitting around smiled at Kavita who couldn't think what was so funny only until Arjun whispered in her ear "you are so fat..."
"What?"
"Yes my legs are aching ever since you sat on my lap from that station" he retorted
She looked back at him "so where the hell should I sit? On your head"
"Just shut up Kavita, and pray that we reach our destination soon otherwise you will leave no chance to break my legs" he said tiredly...
"Fine, I will pray that your legs break soon" she punched in his stomach with her right elbow
"Ouch" he shouted making everyone around laugh at them...
-----------------------------------
Lotiya Pandey the leader was resting against the stone pillar with a face of utter nonchalance, as if he were merely waiting for a bus on a spring day, alcohol in hand. He wasn't slumped at all, his body was clearly too muscular for that, yet it was just as relaxed as his face.
He was almost smiling - smiling as if something good was about to happen. "The world will fall through my feet" he said aloud at his friends who cheered at their spearhead.
The whole posse of thirty were planning their next move, Deccan was getting worse where Lotiya and his gang didn't spare anyone.
Good for him was likely to bad for the villagers. Very bad.
He threw the bottle on a huge rock on the side shattering into pieces... then picked up his gun.
A single shot rented the air, echoing through the old huts few kilometers away accelerating into the horizon.
A dull flash of recognition washed over the faces of small kids playing in the sand just outside. For them it was like a bell, a buzzer of alarm to alert them for the next attack of the mob...
People in the village were very much used to this...but this time they were not helpless. Getting army around them not only assured them mentally but also gave them a little nerve to step out from their huts and do their daily chores.
Laachi stared at the sky, looking at the white mist that left seconds ago, some deep frowns occupied her dark features. Tired of her own life she tried committing suicide but every time Lotiya's face comes in front of her.
She picked up the small old cup and filled with water.
Laachi was the daughter of the head of the village, she was dark with beautiful features and slim figure. She was in love with Lotiya, the man who created havoc in her and the villager's lives. No matter how much she tried to disgust him, she would every time forgive him.
---------------------
Laachi was sitting outside her house washing dirty utensils, her thoughts took her back to the days when she used to be with him all the time. She smiled a little thinking about the moments she spent with him. He was bad, very bad indeed for the whole village and for this country he was a criminal, but for her Lotiya was her life. How could she forget him, she knew how he became like this.
Her smile fell, she felt every muscle tense and her hands began to open and close with each quickening breath the moment she saw all the arrangements the army was making to kill Lotiya and his friends. She frowned as if the anger was seeping down her skin. Her nostrils flared and she walked inside the hut.
His violence was in his words. Laachi knew everything about him, every perceived flaw, every vulnerability and she knew where to meet him and how to save him.
Veer checked all the posts that were laid in the correct order. He communicated with the head office through the remote transmission every now and then. The only thing he was now waiting, was the attack. He wanted the bandits to cross the sand dunes that were just after the big rocks and that was it.
Once they cross, he will not leave them alive. Veer knew he wouldn't take long to kill the leader of this gang...
"You can't kill him"
Veer turned around at the female voice...
