The Beginning

"K-Kacchan?"

"I got you," Bakugou assured the boy as he held Deku's non-injured arm. "how long do you think the ice will last?"

"About 20 minutes tops," Todoroki answered instead, happening to be near them in the field of debris.

They looked over the damage, what seemed miles, but they knew it was not.

"H-How did this happen?" Deku stuttered, looking over all of their things. Explosions going off and shaking everything every now and then. "W-we didn't expect this. It all came so quick."

The three were hidden and wanted to stay that way. "Well, we need to check for other people. We can't just stay here," Bakugou began to struggle his way from beneath the debris, arising to the top. "Deku's injured too."

"Kacchan's right," Deku grunted as Bakugou helped him up. "and if we can't find anybody, we should at least try and search for a first aid kit."

Deku held out a hand to Todorokoi to help him up, which he took. "For now the ice should numb it and help. But yes, you are both right. You heard the news, this is a war. If no one is near our current area, it's too risky to go out further without finding gear and resources. Our hero costumes are in a location not too far from here, if no one is around us, we go there."

"So, that's our plan?" Bakugou asked.

"That's our plan," Todoroki nodded.

After sneaking around and looking for people, there was no luck. It seemed to have been just them. "Do you think we got blown into a different area than everybody else?" Deku suggested.

"That's a possibility," Todoroki agreed. "but there could've been people here who acted quicker than us."

"Or..." Bakugou looked down. "They died..."

"No!" Deku smacked Bakugou on the back of the head, earning a scowl. "Our classmates are strong! Think positive!"

Bakugou said nothing and looked away.

"Hey, don't you like hate each other or something?" Todoroki asked, noticing the lack of their banter.

"Even I can have a sense of reason Icyhot. Now is obviously not the time. And I think even Kaminari would be able to see that," he sighed.

"Todoroki," Deku looked at him. "how far away are out hero costumes?"

"Hm," Todoroki thought for a second. "not far. Maybe more north," he pointed in the direction behind Bakugou.

Deku nodded and headed in the direction, slightly limping from the weight of his arm, and his leg that was bruised from the debris.

Todoroki looked at the boy in concern. "Hey," Bakugou snapped Todoroki out of his trance. "don't worry. First aid comes with the costumes, we can help him."

Todoroki smiled slightly as Bakugou left to catch up with Deku. He took a deep breath and shut his eyes.

Everything is crumbling.

His eyes scrunched.

Everyone's in danger.

He winced.

Everyone will perish.

His breathing increased.

Everyone will lose hope eventually.

"Stop..." he whispered.

Danger.

Danger.

Danger.

Danger.

Danger.

Dang-

"Oi! Icyhot!" Todoroki was torn from his thoughts by Bakugou getting his attention. "You comin'!?"

"O-Oh! Yeah!" Todoroki looked around him and jogged over to them, looking around constantly, as if something was watching him.

The feeling wouldn't leave him alone.

"Here! Found them!" Deku rummaged through broken pieces of the building and pulled out their suits.  "Kacchan... Todoroki... Me!"

Deku stood up, only to be knocked right down from an explosion nearby. The ice on his arm shattered as they all grunted, more debris and dust flying everywhere.

"Get down!" someone said, sounding like a woman.

The sound subsided and explosions set off further away. Deku groaned as he held his arm, the ice no longer there.

"Recovery Girl?"

Indeed, Recovery Girl was the woman who advised them to get down. "I knew someone would come here at some point. It hasn't been long, but these villains, they have some dangerous weapons," she explained. "Is anybody hurt?"

Deku held out his arm. "Ah, of course," she got down to his arms level and gave it a big smooch. "it'll be sore, but nothing bandages can't help. I didn't want to drain your stamina. You'll need it."

"Thank you," Deku said, her nodding in response.

"Let's change, quickly," Bakugou said, holding up the case to his costume.

The three nodded and went somewhere sheltered, where no one would see them.

They quickly changed, not caring about privacy. It didn't matter, they got changed in the locker rooms almost every day anyway.

Once they finished, they left the cases and handed the small bandages and band-aids to Todoroki to put them in those small canisters that hung from his hip.

They approached Recovery Girl, but she held a shaky hand at them to stop. They were confused and didn't know what she meant until a huge blast blew them all away.

They, fortunately, held on to each other and did not get separated.

They blew straight into a concrete wall, knocking Deku out cold from a hard hit to the head, blood trickling down his face. Todoroki not experiencing any injuries, but still got knocked out as well. Bakugou attempted to use his quirk to soften the impact, but his reaction time was just too slow. It was too much of a risk, hence Todoroki and Deku being on his side, he didn't want to hurt them.

He hit his head but did not pass out. He was bleeding, but he refused to pass out. He refused to let it end here so quickly. It was pathetic, lame, selfish. But he could just not imagine a world without the two of them.

They were his family. Even though he has yet to know Todoroki as long as he's known Deku, they've still grown relatively close.

He wanted, needed, to stay awake, protect them from oncoming dangers, protect himself. He felt so... weak.

This war only just started. They were already in life-threatening danger. The villains were weak. But they came back every time. Every time the heroes brought them down, they came back. Stronger, and stronger.

But it just seems, they planned more, brought out secret weapons, secret forces, secret powers, and came back stronger than ever at full force.

They weren't prepared. All along, they were ants just waiting to be stepped on. Crushed. Bakugou's consciousness began to slip, and he could feel it.

His muscles tensed and he scrunched his eyes. He was determined. He, nor Deku or Todoroki, would die. They would wake up soon. They will wake up soon. They will live to see another day.

He was sure of it.

These were the thoughts running through his head at full speed, right before he slipped out of reality, his head falling on Deku's shoulder, his body relaxed. Hopefully, any villain who passed by would think they're dead, and move on.

Hopefully.
