~Chapter one~
Small tw: a parent being a terrible parent and slapping their kid
What followed after that fateful day was eight long years of training with my father. He never gave me a break even when..
"Edgar! Stop whatever you're doing and get down here right now!" The king shouted.
"Yes father." Edgar politely called down.
I'd better go before he chomps at my head again, figuratively of course. Until next time.
Edgar carefully walked down the stairs, making sure to keep his head up as all royals in their time did. Of course, life had always been this hard in the kingdom of Agoruin. He almost missed a step and tripped, catching himself before he could fall in front of their guests. He quickly stood up and dusted himself off, his face burning with shame. "Greetings father. King William and Queen Regina." He politely bowed. His father looked ashamed and turned to their visitors.
"I hear your daughter is turning eighteen years soon?" He pondered.
"Yes! Two elf moons from today! And we think Edgar or any of his brothers around his age would suit her."
"Well of course! My son would be a fine candidate. He turns eighteen years tomorrow actually." the king greedily smiled. It was no secret that King William and Queen Regina of Zarion were rich. The richest in all of Ferdandia actually.
"Great! It's settled then! Prince Edgar of Agoriun and Princess Elizabethany shall get married two elf moons from today on my lovely girl's birthday!" William exclaimed happily
"It's a date." Edgar's father nodded. Edgar gulped in fear and tried to keep a straight face. He might have failed to mention to his father that he had two boyfriends already. After King William and his queen left his father rounded on him.
"Seriously boy?! You just had to make a fool of yourself in front of the richest rulers in all of Ferdandia!"
"I'm sorry father." He apologized, deeply bowing. He gasped and let out a cry as he felt something make his cheek sting.
"Sorry doesn't make money. Now get out of my sight before you make everything worse." His father demanded. Edgar squeaked and quickly nodded, turning and running off. He ran up to his room and slammed the door shut, letting out a shaky breath. He took a few minutes to calm down then went over to his desk, opening his journal again.
Dear diary, today I found out I'm supposed to marry this girl right on her birthday. The worst part? It's the girl my sister's in love with! I mean, she must realize that father is making me right? Right?! Oh Bheldemortain, what do I do?! I don't know what to do! Please, somebody come help me. I know no one will ever see this but I need someone to help me figure this all out. I can't very well trust any of my siblings with this, they'll simply tell father so that they can take the throne when he passes on to be with our elven gods instead of me. Goodbye for now journal, I shall write more when it happens.
He set down the pen and flopped down onto his bed but not before hiding his journal in its normal spot.
Meanwhile
Eze was snoring in his quarters, unaware of the impending interruption.
"Eze!" Someone called. "Wake up right now or you're going to be late." He jolted awake, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, looking around confused. He didn't see anyone but clearly someone called him.
"Yes?!" He responded, clamoring around and putting all of his gear on. He ran out of his room, down the hall and outside where he saw one of his best friends, Owen, standing there.
"Took ya long enough." he chuckled. "Have a nice dream?" He cheekily asked.
"Yes. I suppose so. Until someone decided to wake me up." He pointedly looked at Owen who sheepishly laughed and rubbed the back of his neck in shame.
"Sorry dude. But in my defense you were taking too long. Anyways, have you heard the news?" His lip slightly curled.
"No? What news?" He questioned, noticing the look on his friend's face. "No. don't tell me. Edgar is being forced to marry someone?"
"Yup." Owen fearfully nodded. "The worst part, it's the girl Gretcha is simping."
"Oh elven gods." Eze gasped. "She will be livid when she finds out."
"B-but she doesn't have to find out right?! W-we can just hide this from her and kidnap her before the wedding and not let her go until after they have divorced. Great plan right?! Or he could just come out to the king! Another great plan! R-right?!" Owen paced around, his hands pulling at his hair. Eze walked over to him, softly grabbing his arms, carefully removing them from his hair.
"Hey, look at me, we don't need to panic. The king already doesn't like us, we shouldn't give him more ammo to use against us, as much as I hate to admit it." He sadly shook his head. Eze sighed, taking a deep breath.
"I know. Still, it's not fair. We've literally never done anything to him."
"Well except 'taint' his precious son'." Someone scoffed. The two boys turned around, seeing Edgar standing there. They both rushed at him, crushing hom between them in a hug. "Ok ok guys calm down. You're going to suffocate me." He whined.
"Sorry your gay princeliness." Owen joked, letting out an "oof" when Eze elbowed him in the stomach. "Ok ok, I'm half sorry for that joke." Eze threateningly held up his elbow. "Ok fine. I'm sorry." he begrudgingly huffed. Eze smelled and stood on his tiptoes, giving a quick peck to Owen's cheek.
"What? No kiss for me." Edgar pouted quietly.
"Yup!" Eze evilly grinned. "We never know who though who shall not be named has hired to spy on him." He smartly pointed out. Owen wrapped his arm around Eze, playfully ruffling his hair.
"Yeah yeah smarty pants, we get it, you're smart." He rolled his eyes. "Doesn't really fit a royal guard but who am I to judge." Edgar watched his friends with a fond smile, shaking his head at the two. He heard someone rushing towards them and turned his head, seeing Fercheska running at them. "Sir! The king needs you urgently!" He panted, his face bright red from having to run all around the kingdom.
"Uhm, which one of us?"
"All three." He answered when he got his breath back. Edgar gulped and looked at his two friends.
"It's urgent. The king seems pretty mad."
Edgar let out a terrified sigh. "Lead the way." Fercheska nodded and missed the look the boys gave each other.
Oh boy. Here we go.
They quickly made their way to the castle. It seemed like everyone was avoiding them but that was nothing new for Edgar. He knew his friend group was not, oh what's the word, well liked, around the kingdom. They drew closer to the throne room and could almost hear what the king was saying. The doors opened and all eyes fell on them, Edgar is particular. His father rushed forward, holding something in his hand. He slapped the book down.
"Explain this!" He demanded. Edgar got closer and couldn't help but let out a gasp.
Oh no! My diary!
