Bonus Chapter: I Will Survive
1989
Egypt
We finally made it to Egypt. Good grief, those damn enemy stand users are so fucking annoying. If it weren't for them we could've made it here earlier, but no, we've gone through multiple crashes, and a sinking ship. At least a train hasn't been derailed, yet. We're currently in a car driving to meet up with some member from the SPW foundation.
"Man! That stand High Priestess was annoying!" Polnareff heaved.
"I'm not surprised you feel that way, she did almost kill you Polnareff." Avdol replied smugly.
"Like I could ever be killed by such a bitch, you would miss me too much if I had let myself die." Polnareff shot Avdol a small wink to which Avdol replied to by turning his head away. "Anyways, forget about me. Jotaro I thought you were a goner when you were in her teeth, to think you would punch through them with Star Platinum!" Polnareff said in astonishment.
"Yeah Jotaro, you gave your grandfather quite the scare back there!" The old man yelled.
"I'm just relieved that we're finally in Egypt, and that Jotaro is safe." Kakyoin looked at me with a soft smile as if he was confirming his words. Ultimately for the gesture to be ruined by Polnareff.
"Aren't you relieved that I'm safe too?" Polnareff states trying to give Kakyoin his best puppy dog eyes. Almost instantly a scowl formed on Kakyoin's face.
"No, you could drop dead right now and I would care less." Kakyoin gritted out through his teeth.
"Mon dieu!" Polnareff shouted a look of surprise and slight hurt on his face. I heard Avdol and gramps stifle a laugh, a ghost of a smile appeared on my lips as I pulled the rim of my hat down. I heard the old man clear his throat.
"On a more serious note, we're already thirty days into our journey, we need to find Dio and we need to find him fast." The old man had a sadness to his serious tone. A wave of grief spread across the car instantly as we all became silent. We stayed in silence like this for quite a while until Polnareff decided to cut through the silence with an awkward laugh.
"Hey, why don't we listen to the radio to occupy ourselves?" His voice cracked a little at the beginning of his sentence. Man, this guy can't handle silence or pressure very well, clearly. He reached forward to turn the knob to turn on the radio. He kept on flipping through channel after channel, but they all had static.
"Jeez Polnareff, quit it already!" The old man smacked his hand away. "I'll get us a station with music, Hermit Purple!" Purple vines immediately entered the radio section and the stations kept on changing at a fast pace, until there were some people talking. a satisfied grin made its way across the old man's face.
"Right now, we'll be having a 70s music segment. To start off what we've got for you is the song 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor." Fast paced piano filled the car. Shortly after, the old man's humming started in tune with the song as it began, he hummed the first two lines until he was interrupted by an ecstatic Polnareff.
"Mon dieu! I love this song, I always used to listen to it when searching for Centerfold!" Polnareff exclaimed.
"Well then what are you waiting for, sing the damn song with me!" The old man yelled giddily.
"And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along, and so you're back!" They were now singing in sync. "From outer space! I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face..." They may be singing in sync, but they sound like a pair of dying cats. This continued on for several line until they both starting trying to persuade the rest of us to join in their antics.
"C'mon Avdol live a little! Sing with us!" Polnareff urged, nudging Avdol who was sitting right behind him.
"I'd rather not Polnareff." Avdol said his voice firm, as he swatted away Polnareff's arm.
"What about you Jotaro? Ease up for once!" The old man said laughing heartily.
"No." I deadpanned, no way am I getting dragged into this.
"Kakyoin why don't you remove that stick up your ass and join us?" Polnareff taunted Kakyoin. I looked into Kakyoin's face to see a blank expression.
"Sure, why not? It seems like a lot of fun." There was no edge to Kakyoin's voice, no underlying meaning to his statement, in fact he was smiling now. I'm pretty sure I had a somewhat shocked expression, Polnareff did for two seconds until he starting whooping.
"This is why I like you Kakyoin!" The old man shouted happily. Pretty much instantaneously, the three started singing together in unison.
"Oh no not I, I will survive! Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive!" They all sang.
"I've got all my life to live!" Kakyoin sang above the others.
"And I've got all my love to give, and I'll survive!" Polnareff then sang this line louder than the other two.
"I will survive!" It was now the old man's turn to sing a part out loud.
"Hey! Hey!" They all sang together again louder than before. Polnareff added in a 'whoo' at the end as well.
"It took all the strength I had not to fall apart!" Kakyoin sang his voice full of anguish.
"Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart!" Polnareff clutched his chest to add affect.
"And I spent oh-so many nights just feeling sorry for myself." The old man shout sang.
"I used to cry!" They yelled out loud. All of them are so into their lines to the point where I think it's on a personal level. Polnareff then stopped singing to start bothering Avdol again as the other two continued taking turns singing lines.
"Please Avdol just join us, please, please, please, please, please, please, ple-" Avdol shut him up by placing a hand on his mouth.
"Fine. I'll sing with you guys, just so you can stop all the noise making." Avdol had given up at this point. Avdol joined the other three with there singing. At first he seemed uncomfortable, but for a guy who was doing this because he was basically forced to. He was enjoying himself a lot. The four of them were really started to sing their lines with lots of emotion. The old man and Polnareff pretended like they were singing into microphones, and Avdol was doing all sorts of hand gestures.
I was surprised by how involved Kakyoin got, he was now singing right in my face. It was really cute though, depending on the lines he would change his expression. When he sang the line 'I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you' he grabbed a hold of my jacket chain and pulled me close to him so our noses were almost touching, then he pushed me away. A devilish grin never leaving his face.
I felt my cheeks heat up as he kept on touching me. His facial expressions were too much, I just wanted to take a picture to remember this moment and how funny, dorky, and sassy he looked.
"Jotaro just join us already! There's only a quarter left of the song!" The old man begged me. I just left out an uninterested grunt.
"Jotaro please join us! For me?" Kakyoin pouted. That's fucking unfair. How am I supposed to refuse the guy when he's pouting! He looks like a kicked puppy.
"I'll sing." I mumbled. Even though I mumble everyone seemed to still hear me because they let out little 'woohoo's'. We were now all singing the together.
"Go on now go! Walk out the door!" We weren't singing as much as we were yelling, even in the midst of all this chaos our voices were blending together. Kakyoin's voice being the highest, Avdol's being the lowest, and Polnareff, gramps, and I being in between. Our voices would crack here and there but we didn't care. Each of us took turns singing individual lines.
Kakyoin and I got really into it at one point too. We were pushing each other on the chest back and for the in a sort of swinging motion, and when singing we would get really close to each other's faces. On multiple occasions we would start blushing, but everything at the moment was so carefree and nice that we didn't care. Unfortunately, the song eventually came to an end. We were all taking deep breaths, until we broke out into a fit of laughter.
"We should do stuff like this more often." Polnareff said wiping a tear away.
"Yes, this was actually quite nice." Avdol chimed.
"Quite nice! This was the most fun I've had in a long time!" The old man boasted.
"I have to say I agree with Mr. Joestar on that one." Kakyoin let out a hearty laugh as he smiled brightly.
"Yeah, this was something else." I nodded my head in approval to the conversation. I'm gonna make sure I never forget these moments, no matter what happens in the future. I looked over at Kakyoin who was giving me a warm smile, and had bright red cheeks. Yup, I definitely don't want to forget this.

Sorry if there wasn't a whole lot of jotakak or things going on in this chapter! I've just always wanted to write a story where they sang together on their journey. I know Hermit Purple probably can't flip to the right radio station, I just used his stand like this for the story. I hope you enjoyed the little Avpol parts I put in there too. There are some secret meaning in this chapter for people who enjoy analyzing things, I like adding depth to lines. Majority of the hidden meanings come from who sang what lines, but there is one more thing in there too. Until next time!
