Carl Grimes x Reader x Ron Anderson - Fight, Fight, Fight!

Carl Grimes has been your best friend since Day One of the zombie apocalypse back in the original Atlanta Group. You were only a year younger than him, and the two of you got along extremely well. It was nice to have someone your age to hang with during the horrific times, especially after the death of your life-long best friend, Sophia Peletier.

Once you got to Alexandria, you were able to make even more friends. Your newest friend was a boy named Ron Anderson; a tall, slender boy with neck-length brown hair. Since Ron was your new next-door neighbor, you guys ended up spending most of your time together. If one of you was around, the other was nearby.

But ever since you started hanging out with Ron, Carl avoided you. Whenever you invited him to hang out, he either was too busy or just didn't want to hang out with you. In fact, it seemed like he spent any free time he had with Enid, even if you asked to hang out with him first. It hurt to watch him leave you, but not as much as it confused you. You couldn't figure out what the problem was, that is, until Carl started trying to hang out with you alone.

"Hey, (Y/N)!" Carl called to you as he ran down the street towards you, "Do you want to hang out tomorrow?"

"Really?" you asked quizzically, earning a weird look from your best friend.

"What? Did I do something wrong?" he asked as a look of confusion and hurt plastered itself to his face.

"No, no, I'm sorry, I totally want to hang out tomorrow! But I thought you and your dad were going on a supply run tomorrow morning?" you asked.

"He won't mind if I'm spending the day with you. I think he'd much rather me hang out with you instead of with Enid," he smiled as he looked you over.

"Alright, I'd love to hang out with you tomorrow," you answered with a fake smile. You didn't like hearing her name roll from his lips; it didn't sound right. "Should I invite Ron as well?"

"Please don't. I want it to be just us, if you don't mind," he sighed as his face fell at the mention of Ron.

"Oh okay, well, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to go take a nap. I'm exhausted from all of the work Deanna has me doing around the community," you yawned as you headed towards your house.

Unfortunately for you, you never made it back to your house.

As you walked to your house, you heard yelling behind you. But not the kind of yelling elicited from zombies or other creatures that wreak havoc on your lives. No, people were fighting.

You quickly pivoted, only to find two of the most amazing friends you had, Ron and Carl, locked in the worst argument you had ever seen. You had never seen the two so made in your entire life, and they've been angry countless times before. The two boys were barking in each others' faces as they glared as evilly as they possibly could.

"Back off, dude, (Y/N) is mine!" Ron growled at Carl before shoving him backward.

"How could you say that? I knew her for practically forever! I was there for her before she even knew you existed! If she lost you, she would be just as happy as long as she had me!" Carl snarled at the brunette.

"I would die before I left her in your hands! You couldn't protect her like I could! How happy do you think she would be while getting her face chewed off by a walker?!" Ron thundered before getting back in Carl's face.

"You can't leave her with me?! I can't leave her with you! You want to know why?! Because the last time I trusted you with the most important person in my life, you almost let her die! I would never, ever do that," Carl bellowed before looking down at his feet, "Because I really, really love her. I love her too much to let that happen."

You knew what Carl was talking about. Before Rick agreed to become the constable of Alexandria, you spent a lot of time at Ron's house. However, Ron was not careful and let you stay too late into the evening, late enough for his Dad to come home from work. As an "unwelcomed intruder", as Ron's Dad called you, you suffered many punches before the yelling and screaming attracted the attention of Rick and Carl. You don't believe you would have made it out of there alive if it wasn't for the two Grimes men.

You saw Ron open his mouth to continue the argument, but you couldn't bear to watch them anymore.

"STOP!" you yelled as you cut Ron off before running towards the fight, "Knock it off, you two!"

"Uhh, (Y-Y/N), i-it's not what it looks like!" Ron stuttered out before backing away from Carl.

"Oh really? Because it looks like two of my friends are fighting. So tell me, what is it then?" you asked irritably. You didn't like Ron's tone; he spoke like you were so dim that you didn't realize what was going on.

"That's exactly what was happening, (Y/N)," Carl spoke up as he shot daggers at Ron, almost daring him to speak.

"That's what I thought," you sighed as you looked between the two of them, internally grateful for Carl, "And I think I know what it's about..."

"Y-you do?!" the two boys stuttered out at the same time. You had to bite your tongue to hold back your laughter as you watched their faces turn a bright shade of red at your words.

"Yes, I do, and I have to say, Carl's right..." you trailed off, causing Ron's face to fall and Carl to smirk triumphantly.

"I see..." the brunette trailed off sadly as he looked up to see Carl's taunting face.

"Ron, it's nothing personal. I've been with Carl since the beginning of all of this, and I haven't felt this safe with anyone for a long time. He's always been there. I just met you! And Carl's right, the only time I was left alone with you, I almost died. I've never nearly died with Carl. But even if that hadn't happened, I love Carl, and nothing is going to change that," you spoke before grabbing Carl's wrist and dragging him towards your house.

You walked in silence until you were in the privacy of your own home. Once you were inside, you turned to face the boy you loved. You realized that he had the widest smile you had ever seen on his face.

"I knew you loved me, I just knew it," he whispered as he wrapped his arm around you to pull you close to him.

"Yes, Carl, I've always loved you," you mumbled so quietly you weren't sure he even heard you.

You felt Carl pull back slightly, only to lean down and place a sweet, comforting kiss to your forehead. You smiled at the feeling you had long forgotten to dream about. You finally had the boy of your dreams, no matter what was going to happen to your group.

"I love you too, and I always will."
