*Flashback*

You and Clem were sitting on a log next to each other while AJ was sitting on the ground. Clem started to make puppet shadows on the tent. "It's a butterfly." Clem said, making AJ laugh and clap. "Goofball. Want another?" Clem asked him and AJ nods at him.

"Which one to do next...." Clem said, thinking. "How about a dog." You said and Clem smiles as he shapes his hand to look like a dog's head. "Bark, bark!" He mimics and AJ laughs.

"Down, boy! That's a pretty good dog!" Kenny said as he comes in with an arm full of wood. "Always used to do that one for Duck. He'd laugh his ass off." He said and both of you smile at him. Kenny frowns until the fire starts to go out. "Ah, shit. Hey, Clem, grab the lighter out of the duffel, will ya?" Kenny asks.

Clem nods then gets up and pulls out the lighter from the bag. He walks over to Kenny then used the lighter to bring back the fire. AJ starts to whimper and you turn to look at him. "What's wr--?" You started to ask him when you heard a noise. You look up and gasped. Clem and Kenny look and see a walker coming towards you. 

"Hey! Get away from them!" Clem shouts as he grabs a large stone, runs and beats the walker's head in while you picked up AJ and held him close. Once the walker was down, AJ begins to cry, Kenny runs out and aims his gun, making sure there was no other surprises, while Clem goes over to you.

"You okay?" He asked you. You smiled and said. "Still not bitten." Clem smiles at you then looks over at AJ, who had calmed down. "You know, first time I saw you two holdin' AJ, it just looked so natural. Somewhere up there, his mama is looking down on both of you. Grateful for what you two are doing." Kenny said as he walks up to you two.

"You've done as much for AJ as we have." You said to him. "Yeah, Rebecca would be grateful for you, too, Kenny!" Clem said. "Yeah, but--you guys are the only parents he's got." Kenny said then he goes to sit down on the log.

"Protective, loving, caring....all the things good parents need to be and all at your age. But parenthood is a hell of a motivator though, heh--that's for sure. That kinda love...." He said as you and Clem sit down and you set AJ between you and Clem.

"It's worth fighting for." You replied and Clem agrees. Kenny nods then said. "What I did to Carver....I did for both of you."

"I know." You and Clem said in unison just as AJ coughs. "Ugh! Kid's as sick of the cold as I am." Kenny said as he looks down at AJ. You three sit in silence for a moment until Kenny speaks up. "So I've been thinking...it's no use survivin' out here, hoping Wellington'll take us in someday. I bet we find some good people down in Florida. Maybe even a little friend for this goofball. Wouldn't that be nice?" 

"AJ could use a friend his own age." Clem said and Kenny smiles again. "I remember when you two and Duck used to color together back at the motel. Helped him forget about all this....for a moment anyway. I'm sure it helped both of you too. Life doesn't mean much without people you can relate to." Kenny said then he frowns.

"Sarita always said Family is what you make it. She was right." He said as he looks at you two. "I'm sorry for all this sappy shit. I guess I'm just...happy." You and Clem stand up and hug him. AJ let's out a happy screech as you, Clem and Kenny were done hugging.

"All right, all right, all right. Enough sap, Kenny." He mutters to himself. Then he looks over at AJ and said.
"How about this one, little man?" And he makes a few shadow puppets, making you, Clem and AJ laugh. "We've got each other. As long as we have that, we'll be okay." You said. The others nod at you as Kenny continues with the shadow puppets.

"Well I don't know about you guys but I know its past bedtime for one little boy." Kenny said, a little bit later. You look down and notice AJ yawning and rubbing his eyes. A soft smile forms on your face as you stand and pick him up. You cradle him while he lays his head on your shoulder.
"C'mon sleepyhead." You said to him then you turn to the guys. "I'mma try to put him down."

Kenny looks at you, warningly. "Don't go far. If shit goes sideways you better scream for us and run like hell." He said. "I'll stay in sight. I promise." You chuckled. Clem, on the other hand, is worried, especially after what took place only moments ago. His protective instincts kicking in once more.

"Maybe I should go with you. Y'know just in case." He said. You roll eyes and said. "Clem I'm fine. I don't need a bodyguard. Besides. . ." You give him a playful grin. "What kind of mama would I be if I couldn't put our baby down by myself?" 

Then you playfully push his hat over his eyes. "I got this Papa Bear." You said. Clem fixes his hat with a smile as he watches you walk away, humming a song to AJ.

Kenny notices Clem watching you, like he's noticed many other times in the past few months and smiles.
"She's growing up to be one hell of a woman ain't she?" He said to the young boy. "Yeah. . .she really is." Clem said, still not taking his eyes off of you.

Kenny smirks and nudges him, teasingly. "Dare I say, she's getting prettier too. Course you would know that...considering the goo-goo eyes you've been giving her lately." He teased. Clem's eyes widen as he turns to face Kenny and blushes in embarrassment 

"Have not!" Clem exclaims, embarrassed, while Kenny laughs until Clem nearly shoves him off the log their sitting on.

"Woah cool your jets son. Damn you've grown some muscle on those noodle arms." said Kenny as he rubs his arm. Clem rolls his eyes. "Haha very funny Kenny."

Kenny calms down and smiles softly.
"I'm just teasing ya, Clem." He said.
They both look over at you and AJ.
"Not gonna lie tho. The way you look at them...it's the same way I use to look at Katjaa and Duck...and Sarita." Kenny said, smiling bittersweetly.
"Having a kid does stuff to ya, Clem. But it's equally, if not nothing, compared to what loving a woman does to ya."

Clem groans slightly, not wanting to talk about the subject of love in general. "Kenny, I thought we were off the sappy shit." Clem said, making Kenny chuckle.

"Alright, alright I'll get off your case. But just so you know. . ." Kenny said then he gives Clem a small smirk.
"Should you two ever become a thing. . .you got mine, Carley, and Lee's blessing. I speak on their behalf because I think they'd agree with me when I say that there's no one more capable of protecting her and making her happy than you."

Clem looks away, at the mention of Lee, and remembers his last words. "I'd die for her Kenny. . ." Clem confessed. He looks at you as you started to walk back over with a sleeping AJ.

". . .both of them." Clem finished.

Present Day

"Kate!" Javi shouts and he begins to run towards the truck, and dodging oncoming walkers, while you and Clem ran off another way to take down some walkers. Until he heard gunshots, he goes and takes cover and saw the driver door was open. He raises his gun, aims it behind him and fires at the shooters then runs to the truck, only to find Kate gone. 

"Kate?! Kate!!" Javi shouts as he looks around. "Gabe?! Kate?! David?!" He calls out again. "Over here!" David said and Javi runs over to him.

"Where's Kate?" David asked him.

"She's not here." Javi replied. "She must've gotten out."

"If something's happened to her....if you've gotten her--" David said as he walks up to his brother then he shakes his head. "You better hope she's alive."

"Shut up, for once, and help me find her!" Javi said then he shoves his shoulder against David's as he walks past him. "What do you think I'm doing?" David asked and the two brothers began to look for her. David thought he saw her as she fell over. He runs over to her but Javi knew that that wasn't Kate and he runs over to his brother.

David turns the woman on her back to reveal that she was a walker and she knocks him down, catching him by surprise, and tries to bite him until Javi comes up behind her and tries to pull her off. That is until someone with a crowbar comes up and smashed the walkers head in.

The boys look over to see that it was Kate. "Don't worry. I'm sure you had that handled." Javi smiles as David stands up and said. "Kate, I'm so glad--" but he was cut off when Kate goes over to Javi and asked. "You okay? Good. Shit, that was too close."

"Nice driving back there!" Javi said.
"You know, if you swerved a little more, you would have actually hit me." Kate smiles and said. "Good thing I wasn't aiming for you, then!" The two smile until David gets in between them and shoots a walker then steps on its head a few times.

"Are you trying to get yourselves killed?" He asked them, just as another walker comes up behind him.
But before anyone could react, there was a gunshot and the walker falls down, revealing Clem standing behind it. "Are you?" He asked David, who rolls his eyes. "Have either of you seen (y/n)? We got separated a few moments ago and I don't know where she is!" Clem said, a slight panic in his voice.

David and Kate shake their heads while Javi looks over his shoulder and saw you and Gabe across the street, being cornered by some walkers.
"She's over there with Gabe!" Javi said and Clem started to feel scared for you but also anger at Gabe for being near you. "Lead the way, Javi." Kate said and the three adults and Clem run across the street, while taking down some walkers along the way.

"Get the knee, like this!" You instructed Gabe as you pull out your sword. You kick the knee of the walker, knocking it down, then stabbed it in the head. The second walker comes up to Gabe but he copies your move and used his knife on the walker. "Nice." You congratulated. "I got a great teacher." Gabe said as he turns to face you.

You smirk at him just as you heard footsteps behind you. You turn around to see Clem was running up to you. "Oh thank God." He said, relieved, as he goes to hug you. You smile at this as you hug him back. "Still not bitten." You whispered to him and he chuckles. "You guys all right?" Javi asked as he comes up to you three as you and Clem pull back from the hug.

"Yeah." You replied while Kate and David go to Gabe. "I'm fine." Gabe said to Kate. She smiles then looks to see lots of walkers coming in. "Look at them. There's so many!" She exclaims. "We'll be safer inside! Get in!" David ordered and all of you run into the building behind you guys.

Javi, David and Clem finished piling up furniture against the front door as Javi said. "That should hold them for now." David looks over at Gabe and said. "You put up a good fight out there." Gabe turns to him and said. "Hey...Dad. I'm glad you made it out." 

"Joan's probably looking for us." Kate said. "No, she isn't. Javi shot her." Gabe said as he points at Javi.
"What?!" Kate said, shocked. "Good riddance." David mutters.

"You were negotiating. I heard you. You didn't have to shoot! Everyone started panicking and shooting. We almost died!" Gabe exclaimed. "I shot her so we could save David. End of story." Javi shouted back. "So why didn't she just shoot you? You were outnumbered. They only attacked after you pulled the trigger!" Gabe argued.

"Javi's right. Joan had to go. I would've done it, too." David said to his son. "That's because you don't mind killing people, do you?" Gabe asked. "Those dead guys--they were your friends."

"Gabe, that's not fair." Javi said to Gabe. Gabe frowns, shakes his head and starts to walk away. "Hey, you do not walk away from me!" David shouts and Gabe turns to face his father, a look of defiance on his face. "When someone speaks to you, you stand up and answer them. Even if you don't want to."

"David, that's enough. He's not a little boy! He doesn't need that from you." Javi said, defending his nephew.
"What he needs, is to learn to keep his opinions to himself until he understands what the hell he's talking about." David said then he turns to Gabe. "I'm just....I'm trying to protect you, Gabe. I lost you once. I won't let it happen again. Okay?"

"We made it through alive. Let's just be glad about that." Javi said to him.
"We need to check the other entrances. Make sure we're safe. Gabe, wanna help me out?" David said. Gabe frowns then looks up at his uncle. 

"Go help him, Gabe. It's okay." Javi said, softly. "He doesn't need your permission!" David snapped at Javi. You and Clem exchange looks at each other then Clem sighs. "(Y/N) and I will help, too." Gabe looks between you two then said. "O-Okay." And you, Clem and Gabe follow David downstairs.
