Chapter Two.

The world is a dark place.
You may not know or notice but it is.
So much death and destruction...sometimes you never realize just how messed up the world is...until you become equal with the worlds darkness.
You probably never stopped to think about this, but I'm forced to think about these things.
It's scary to think that every second, someone around the world is either dead, dying or committing suicide.
I suppose I could think about good things, like how a baby is born every second...but then I think about how the mother almost always dies while giving birth...sometimes the baby does too.
My murderous urges have been getting stronger and stronger. I mostly stay in my room trying to find ways to get the demon out of my head....but she's getting stronger.....I don't think I'll be in control for much longer..but I have to try and maintain control...I have to.....

" I can't believe she's actually dead though...you know? It's just so hard to cope with....I hated her but I didn't want her to die...." Jessica said as she leaned against the brick wall with a soft sigh.

" Sarah wasn't exactly a good person...but yeah...she didn't deserve to die....especially not in the way that she DID die..." Abbie murmured softly, her eyes were dull from sadness.

Sarah had been Abbie's friend when they were younger. But as they grew older, their friendship started to fade and Sarah chose popularity over friendship.....

Flashback. Ten years ago.

" Why can't I play as Ariel? I always have to be Cinderella." Six year old Abbie pouted.

" Because Ariel has red hair and Cinderella has yellow. I have red hair and you have yellow hair. That's why." Six year old Sarah said as though it was obvious.

Abbie groaned loudly as she set the Cinderella doll onto the bed while pouting.

" Hey...you're not mad are you?" Sarah poked Abbie's cheek.

Abbie stayed silent with her little arms over her chest.

" Hey, we're going to be friends forever right?" Sarah's lower lip trembled.

Abbie turned to Sarah and sighed nodding in agreement.

" Yeah...we are." Abbie agreed which made Sarah smile.

" Yay! Let's go get ice cream!" Sarah stood up and ran out the door with Abbie following.

" Abbie? ABBIE!" Jessica's voice jolted Abbie out of her memories.

" What? Sorry...I zoned out..." Abbie laughed awkwardly but her voice held no humor.

" What's wrong, hun? You're crying... " Jessica frowned lightly.

Abbie touched her cheek to find that she was in fact crying, without knowing.

" Oh it's nothing. I'm fine." Abbie managed to give them a reassuring smile, but it didn't reach her eyes.

The others didn't look to sure but they said nothing, not wanting to pressure her.

" I wonder if they're still going through with prom though? Despite....everything that's happening...." Catherine piped up which startled the other girls.

" Uh...I'm not sure.....but they haven't told us otherwise so I'd assume that it's still going to happen." Ella said while brushing her long hair back, awkwardly.

" Good....I'm still looking forward to it....and I think it'll be good to get our minds off of these things....even if it is just for one night." Catherine said as she sat next to Jessica who moved over a little so that she would have more room.

" You're not worried about the fact that there's a freaking murderer, probably in our school and probably going to our prom that night?!" Abbie suddenly asked with a almost annoyed expression.

" It's also pretty convenient that Sarah just so happened to end up dead the day after she threatened to expose a so called demon...." Jessica said which made Leah look up from her book.

" Maybe she unearthed something that someone wanted to stay buried....I think we should look into this." Ella whispered.

" But if Sarah was right....any one of us could be the murderer....and a demon." Jessica said softly.

" So if the murderer in our group wants to admit to their crimes...speak now or forever hold your peace." Catherine joked, trying to lighten the mood.

But everyone actually waited with baited breath, almost as if they were expecting someone to come forward....but no one did.

" So...tonight....we're going to break in or what?" Leah piped up in a soft tone which surprised literally everyone.

" I'm thinking two of us should go during class so nobody will be around and we won't be arrested...." Jessica said softly.

" I'll do it." Abbie looked into Jessica's eyes and Jessica sighed giving a nod.

" Alright. We'll go during third period...when we have science together." Jessica said and everyone nodded in agreement.

" Until then." Ella said before everyone went their separate ways.

Everyone wanted to solve the case but at the same time they were all afraid what they would discover when they did.....

💀🔪

Abbie paced the halls anxiously awaiting her friends arrival.

Jessica was late and Abbie was starting to worry by now.

Abbie sighed and checked her watch while biting her lip anxiously.

" Come on....come on...." She whispered, tapping her foot on the tiled floor.

Jessica finally came rushing over, out of breath.

" Sorry, I had to convince the teacher I wasn't leaving just to smoke pot....which I don't understand why she'd think that since I've never smoked pot but whatever....and why didn't she accuse YOU of smoking pot when you asked to use the restroom?" Jessica asked suspiciously.

" I told her before class it was my time of the month, now come on." Abbie smiled a little and began to walk towards the crime scene.

The two girls walks side by side, making sure that they didn't look suspicious when other students passed.

" You stay and keep guard and I'll look around." Jessica whispered and began to go into the room.

" No....let me do it....please...Sarah used to be my friend....." Abbie touched Jessica's shoulder which automatically made her flinch away before Jessica composed herself.

" .......alright......just be careful and don't touch anything." Jessica said seriously.

Abbie nodded lightly before she slipped through the door, into the room.

The usually dimly lit red room was now illuminated by bright LED lights which were almost blinding.

The walls which were usually grey and colorless were now stained red with blood, someone had tried to clean it up but the evidence of what had happened was still evident.

The police had already done an investigation so it wasn't technically illegal for Abbie to be here but the teachers didn't want anyone here at the moment.

Abbie suppressed a sob as she stared at the stained floor, her stomach tightening in disgust as she struggled not to gag.

" Hurry up!" Jessica's whisper jolted Abbie out of her thoughts and Abbie immediately began searching for clues, making sure the sleeves of her maroon hoodie were slipped over her hands to hide finger prints...just in case.

Abbie opened the secret door hidden in the cupboard and frowned.

" What's this?" She whispered as she pulled out a single photo before she flipped it over and her blood went cold.

The photo was of a single black eye, you couldn't tell who the picture was of but it said enough.

Sarah wasn't crazy and here was the proof.

A single photo.

It could have been photo shopped but this was enough for Abbie.

The eye was black and empty and seemed to hold no emotion at all, but whoever it was, was crying.

But the tears were black just like the eyes, it was obviously a girl.....That's all that was evident.

Abbie pocketed the photo and closed the cupboard doors before quickly exiting the room.

" What'd you find?" Jessica whispered.

" Proof." Was all that Abbie said before she began walking away.
