Ch.4
When Camille called me, it was 10:00am and I was still in bed. Usually on weekends I didn't get up till around 1 so its given that I was a bit grumpy to have had my beauty sleep disrupted.
grabbing the phone from my night stand I answered the call, "What?" I stretched in my bed, letting out a long and satisfying yawn.
"good morning to you too" Cam answered, I could practically see her rolling her eyes "Get ready. I'll meet you in front of your home in 30 minutes? I'm guessing you'll need time to get ready?"
"Its like 10 in the morning Cam, why is the date so fracking early?" I was almost regretting this, it was way too early to be up and about on a Saturday.
"I don't really know what we are doing either. Mark just said to bring our bikes and wear comfortable clothes, nothing fancy"
"but its sooooooooo colddddd outsideeeeee" I whined, kicking my warm and cozy comforter off of me and getting up.
"cmon Jules, I'll be in front of your home in 15 minutes okay?"
I mumbled in response and ended the call, but I couldn't really bring myself to move so I sat on my bed for a few more minutes and evaluated the mess that was my room.
I had a big room, the walls were plain white but decorated with bookshelves, pictures and fairy lights on my bookshelf. As nice as all that may sound to you, my room is an absolute mess. There is no color coordination in my room, when I selected the furnitures I wanted I was barely 13 and had randomly picked out anything that looked "pretty" to me. Since then I hadn't changed a single furniture and honestly it didn't really bother me. I liked the room despite it looking like something off of a chaotic 5 year old's coloring book.
A major part of my room's walls are white except for one part of the wall, where I had begun to paint random collages of random things. The collage had began once upon a very boring Saturday when I was out of my mind with boredom. Soon after, it had become my doodle wall. The wall was covered with random drawings of stick men, fat cats, dry trees, circles of different colors and sizes, just things like that.
I had a lot of books but not enough space for it, a large bookshelf hadn't been enough to hold all my books and I didn't like keeping my personal books in the small library that we had at our home, so a dozen of my books were piled on a table that used to be my study table. Now I have another study table that I actually used for its purpose which was a messy pile of notebooks and stationeries.
It was colder than usual today so I pulled on a blue shirt and a slightly oversized white sweater over it, one of my favourites. And a pair of black jeans. I wrapped a warm black muffler around my neck. I then spent the next 5 minutes trying to dry my mess of a hair as fast as I could.
Which of course didn't really workout considering my hair was pretty thick. I looked at the mirror and shook my head, this wouldn't do. My black hair was a mess and noticeably wet. I wouldve fixed it up a little bit but I didn't really have the luxury of taking my time so I pulled it into a quick bun while heading out of my room
I shut the door behind me, not really bothering being quiet. Its not like my mom would wake up. As I mentioned before, She was a heavy sleeper like the rest of my family. And dad was probably at work already.
Despite being one of the richer families, our home was not extravagant. My dad always preferred the standard house we lived in. And I liked it that way. I liked the neighborhood we lived in, it was cozy and I liked that.
I had just finished tying my shoelaces when Camille arrived at my porch on her bike. She waved happily at me as I got up, I waved back and pointed towards the garage. Indicating that I needed to take my bike out. She nodded and gave me a thumbs up.
When I finally reached her, pushing my bike alongside. I had placed my backpack on the basket of my bike. "Where are we going exactly?" I asked, making myself comfortable on my bike.
"We'll be meeting them in front of the Castro's cafe"
"A breakfast date?" I asked, i didn't really mind heading to the Castro's cafe. I was a regular there considering my best friend's parents owned it. Plus their pancakes were delicious.
The Castro Cafe was a fairly popular place, they ran a good business so it wasn't a surprise that the Eastside Academy boys knew about it.
It didn't take long to reach the cafe, the boys weren't there yet so I suggested just heading inside. It was cold outside and besides, I wanted to say hi to Barney.
Camille didn't object to the idea so we made our way inside the cafe, engulfed with warmth and the smell of freshly brewed coffee as soon as we stepped through.
The cafe, just like I thought it would be, was busy.
Camille took our her phone "hey, I'll call Mark quickly and see where they are"
I nodded and walked to the counter, spotting Barney.
"Julianne!" Barney smiled warmly when he saw me, "I haven't seen you in a while! the Mrs. told me you were over at ours for dinner recently. Sorry I missed it, its been busy here lately"
I shook my head, returning his smile. Barney, Logan's father was a kind man, in his 40's. The twins took after their father, that was for certain. You could tell Barney's kind nature just by his warm smile, but there was also that playful twinkle in his eyes that he had passed on to his daughters.
"Im just here with some friends, we're getting breakfast. You know if it gets busy here you can just ask me and Mars to help you out. All we want in return is a few of your pancakes" I offered with a hopeful smile on my face.
Barney laughed "sure thing kid"
I moved aside when customers began to come in
"Jules?"
I turned around to see Logan standing behind me looking a bit surprised.
"Hey papa bear! You working today?" I asked, he came to stand beside me, nodding "Yeah, the weekends are pretty busy. Why are you here so early?"
I raised an eyebrow at him "why do you sound so surprised?"
"Because you never wake up this early on weekends" He pointed out. He had a point.
"I have the date remember?" I air quoted the word "date"
"This early?"
I shrugged "Apparently"
"Hey Logan" Camille came to stand beside me, a phone in hand. Logan smiled in response. "So. Date huh? and you're sure you're into this guy?"
Camille gave a determined nod "absolutely" Logan smiled in amusement "alright. Just take care of this one" he ruffled my head to indicate that I was the 'this one'
I slapped his hand away in response "this one" I pointed at myself "can take care of herself papa bear"
Logan always acted like an older brother towards me and Mars, I guess it was the side effects of being the older brother of two trouble makers.
Cam suddenly let out a sma gasp beside me, and I was a little alarmed because she grasped my arm a little too tightly "duudeee. They're hereeeee!!WhatdoIdo WhaTdoidO" all this came out in a hushed panicked whisper.
Logan gave me a quizzical look and I shrugged in response "well its about time because I'm starving and I want my breakfast" I muttered, turning around to look for any 2 guys that might possibly be our date for the day.
