"What is the you that you've dreamed of?

Who do you see in the mirror?

I gotta say

Go on your path

even if you live for a day."

- No More Dream

BTS

Continuation from last chapter

"Not to ask the obvious, but what exactly is your relationship with Shin Woohyun?" Namjoon asked.

"I'm not that deep into this. I've tried digging for information but there isn't much to look into. I don't even know who my actual parents are." Sarang continued.

"So, that's how you're here. A gang princess working as a barista in Starbucks." Taehyung said.

"Don't call me that. I never wanted this. I am literally sick of this life." Sarang said and both the boys in the room had seen the obvious desperation in her voice and her body language.

"If you don't mind me saying, why not?" Namjoon asked and he saw Sarang's posture go stiff.

"What do you mean?" Sarang didn't dare look up from her lap.

"What I mean is, being a gang princess is ,by far the, the easiest job, for a girl to do. All you have to do is get dolled up every other day and meet and greet other gangsters and order the other gang members around. Why wouldn't you want that?" Namjoon said, while watching Sarang's hands ball into fists.

"You think that's what a girl wants?" Sarang looked straight at Namjoon's eyes, her eyes sharp and menacing.

"Well, I don't blame you for that. Girls my age or with my choice, would've been jumping to take it up, wouldn't they?
It's normal for you guys to judge me in that criteria. But, let me tell you this." Sarang paused to throw out another spine-chilling smirk.
"I don't want this."

"Have you ever heard of something called dreams, RM? Well, my dream was not the one that had all this mess in it. All I ever wanted was a normal life.
A normal job and a normal family. Is it too much to ask?" Sarang said, her voice shaking.

"Now, you guys actually know who I am. Now, tell me. Why am I here?" Sarang gulped once and fixed her voice.

It's true that Namjoon and Taehyung had their suspicions. It's true that they did not trust Sarang at all. But, at the end of the day, she too was a victim of the circumstances. So, they decided to tell Sarang at least a part of their truth.

"You know us, who we are. We're the Bullet-Proof Boys." Namjoon began, sarcasm dripping off his words.
"You remember the tattoo you got that day?" Taehyung asked. "That's the main reason you're here."

Sarang's face turned blank.

"So, you mean, that....this damn tattoo got me here? What's soo special about it?" She asked, lifting her shirt just enough for the boys to see the beginning of the smooth line of ink and the carefully carved roses.

"Yeah. It's Bullet-Proof's mark. A mark that is only seen on the inner circle gang members of Bullet-Proof. The mark that is on your body." Namjoon pointed at Sarang.

"Does that....? Does that mean..."  Sarang stammered, at a loss for words.

"Yes, like it or not, you're a Bullet-Proof now." Taehyung said.

"Wait! This means you knew that mark was your mark and still you gave it to me? Why would you do that?" Sarang asked, through gritted teeth.

"Hey! You wanted that tattoo. Yoongi Hyung tried to warn you. But, you still chose it. I'm not the only one at fault over here. Actually, no one is at fault over here." Taehyung flashed a boxy smile at Sarang.

"I'm not catching up over here. You said, it's your gang's mark. Then, why would you show it to me?
If you hadn't showed me this, I would never have insisted in getting this. Why did you show it to me in the first place?" Sarang said, confusion written all over her face.

"That is the hard part to explain." Namjoon sighed, glaring at Taehyung.

"Hyung! You don't look at me like that! It's not my fault. I see what I see." Taehyung pouted and even in all this commotion, Sarang couldn't help but smile at the cuteness Taehyung held while pouting.
It almost made her coo with adoration.

"Sarang, you told us the past of your life without any hesitations and secrets. I appreciate that. We would be doing the same too but before we begin, I have one last question. Why is it that this life doesn't attract you?" Namjoon asked.

Sarang let out a long sigh and looked up at Namjoon's face, her wrist dangling off her one knee, which was propped up.

"Ever heard of something named dreams?" She asked, the corner of her lips rising up. "When I was just 10 years old, I went to a park near school. I was the only one alone over there.

All of the others had come with someone. I seated myself in a corner and that's when I saw it. A small family. Two boys hardly 5 years older than me with their parents. The lady seemed soo happy watching her sons run around the place with her husband.
They didn't seem to have much but they had soo much more than I'd ever have. That's when I realized that, this is the one that I want the most in life.

A small, loving family of my own. And, when I learned who I really was; two choices were placed before me.
Either be a gangster that my father wants me to be and say goodbye to the thing I've wanted the most or fight for it. When I learned that Shin Woohyun wasn't my biological parent, I had no reason to stay and sacrifice my dream."

Sarang softly smiled and said, "If you wanna have it short, a gangster me isn't the me I've dreamt of. And, what I haven't dreamt of doesn't attract me."

She tilted her face to one side and looked at Namjoon and Taehyung's faces. They seemed shell-shocked and in deep thought.

"Well, Sarang, you've kept your promise and we're gonna keep ours." That was the first things Namjoon said, when he opened his mouth.

"First let's answer your questions. You're right when you said that if Taehyung hadn't shown you that design, you wouldn't be here.
But, tell me, do you believe in destiny? Do you believe the fact that everything that happens is pre-planned?"

Sarang squinted and said, "Is it relevant?"

"Well I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't relevant, would I? Never mind. When you stepped in this shop and the moment sketch was shown to you, that was intertwined with you and your life.
You might not want to be here but it's destiny that brought you here." Namjoon said, making Sarang almost loose her mind.

"What you mean to say is; I was meant to get this tattoo?" Sarang said, her face unreadable.

"Even if I was, how would Taehyung know?" Sarang asked, getting closer to the subject.

Taehyung and Namjoon exchanged a grin. Namjoon looked back at Sarang and said, "That's another reason."

"Sarang meet Kim Taehyung, a seer."

And, Sarang damn near fainted.
