EDDIE

'Mr. Brock? Um, sir - '

Eddie!

'Venom?' I whispered as my eyes adjusted to the bright lights around me. My hands were cold and I felt like my body wasn't mine anymore with heaviness settling in my chest. Then it was true. Venom was back.

I tried to focus my eyes on the warmness that radiated from me and eyeing the red-and-blue suited man beside me.

'Spiderman.'

'Y-yeah. Hey, man. Saw you knocked out in this area. Heard noises behind the hole in the wall and then, I see . . . you. Eddie Brock. By the way, big fan of your work.'

You were knocked out bad, Eddie. Took me some time to clear the intoxicants that Tel-Kar infected you with.

'What intoxicants?'  I asked under my breath. I was in some sort of a room beside the basement and Venom was in me. Why did that alien leave him in me?

A virus of some sort. But, I handled it. We're good.

'You were dying...'

He was dying. I tried rejecting him but in turn, ended up killing him slowly.

'But how come you can't remember him?'

Hypnotic locks. It's to keep memories suppressed in case of emergencies.

'So, you have met him before.'

Yes.

'Mr. Brock, are you talking to yourself?' Spiderman asked with an awkward drawl in his voice. I straightened my spine and shook my head. The superhero lent me a hand to help me off the ground even though I didn't need any, with a friendly pat on my shoulder. The man was shorter than I was, a head shorter and his body somewhat scrawny but built.

'You don't sound old,' I mused, rubbing my hands on my elbows. Why the heck was I naked? I was in dress-trousers and bare-chested with all my bracelets missing. I got mad at the sight of my missing bracelets. That alien bastard took my limited collectible too.

'I'm not,' he modulated his voice deeper and dully cleared his throat.

I rolled my eyes in mockery. 'Give it up. You're just a boy, aren't you?'

He ignored my question and folded his arms across his emblem holing chest. Don't get me wrong, his suit was awesome - with the webbed design that resembled Venoms and the large black spider-like logo with the blue and red combined.

'Probably put on some clothes after you're done questioning me.' He handed out Keith's stranded hoodie from the floor and I hid my embarrassment while easing into it.

I scanned my gaze across the boiler room of some sort. The door was opened to the outside where the ominous crack had been covered up. I let out a breathy gasp as I walked out of the hot room and inspected the fixed walls with shaking hands.

'This wall,' I murmured. 'Who fixed it?'

Spiderman poked his head over my arm, his masked face giving off nothing. 'I think you have a concussion, Mr. Brock.'

'No,' I hissed. 'I saw something behind this wall.'

'Okayyy. You need a hospital.'

I grumbled lowly and tried to look closer. There were no cracks, no evidence of such a deep crack even existing. Like it had been wiped clean.

'Wait,' I heard Spiderman speak from behind me. 'Laura told me about Venom- '

'Laura?' I breathed and spun around. She did it, the girl actually spoke to Spiderman. She wasn't a control freak for nothing. An eager smile lit my face when I fired questions. 'Where is she? Is she okay?'

'Woah, dude. She's fine; told me she'll call me but I haven't heard from her yet.'

We got company, Eddie. Three men, armed, coming down the entrance.

'And, I'm picking out some friends...' The so-called superhero drawled just after, using a web-slinger to clamp onto the ceiling and fly-kick ahead of me. I watched as he spewed out another two slings to clamp onto the door.

'Holy shit, man. Is that coming out of you?'

'Web-shooters! Mr. Stark made it for me.'

I muttered. 'They do not call him Spare Parts Man for nothing.'

'Mr. Brock, you might want to take cover.' The boy said loudly as he used all his strength to hold the door in place. I scoffed and joined him up the stairs. He groaned when I stood next to him, loosening his shoulders.

'You don't know what I can do, kid.'

'For the nth time - '

A loud blast went through the door, forming a fiery hole and burning the door to the ground. Spiderman and I shot down the stairs with the force. I felt Venom's fibers spread across my back and front, my height rising from the usual and my face obstructed with the darkness of Venom's mask.

'Holy shit! That is so cool!' I heard a girly shrill from the superhero. He was on his feet, shooting his web-slingers and throwing blows at a few officers of a non-identifiable organization pouring through. Before I could read the names on their uniforms they started firing bullets at our direction.

I felt Venom's prehensile lingua loll and roar out with his teeth snapping in fury, setting his claws on the cement and cracking it. The strength had returned and my lethargic senses for the past few weeks eradicated in seconds. I felt new; the ultimate pulsing through my body.

Good to be back.

'Missed you too, parasite.'

Now, let's go see our girl.

Venom sprinted across the officers, disgustingly tossing some in the air and fastening their neck between his teeth and ripping it right off. The blood and gore around the room were extreme as Spiderman shot forward with me, slinging past a few fighters and out of the room.

Venom retracted into my body when he launched forward into the glass outside of Malik Enterprise's lobby, the feelers sucked back into me painfully. I groaned against the shattered glass, writhing on the ground as bright lights shone down at me from the air. Helicopters with microphones yelled down a command at me.

'Sir, put your hands behind your head!'

'Freeze!'

Too many to fight, Eddie. We need another plan.

I held a hand out to shield my hypersensitive condition from the moving torches, trying to see past the mass of lights. Straight ahead was a straight line of massive vans and men in dark uniforms, suits. One man stood unabashedly with his hands behind his back nearer to me, his leather coat like cape flowing with the wind of the choppers in the air. The skin around his left-eye looked badly scarred and extended slightly beyond his eye patch. The cybernetic arm he owned stuck out at me with precaution as he spoke clearly.

'Mr. Eddie Brock, allow me to introduce myself,' he said. 'General Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers Initiative. I'm here to take you in.'

I gulped, shooting my arms in the air in a surrender. This guy frightened me to my core. Even though he was a super-soldier and amassed one-tenth of the strength I owned, he was scary bad.

'You, sir, have an alien in you that needs examining.'

My heart beat faster with panic. I saw my hands visibly shake in the air as Nick's eye narrowed on me dangerously.

'I, just,' I spoke out with the last bit of command I had in me. 'I need to know if my girlfriend is okay.'

He sighed and nodded. Signaling the dozens of manpower behind to lower their weapons, he answered suavely. 'Laura Sharp is safe and getting medical attention. It ain't pretty but she's fine.'

'I-is she hurt?' I asked with a waver in my voice.

'Follow me without obligations and you can see for yourself.'

He's got bad shit behind him. Go with him before they take us down.

- ♣ -

'Edward Charles Allan Brock, former investigative journalist of the Daily Globe, now a special columnist of their newspaper and current alien-carrier. Divorced and in a relationship with a former alien-carrier, Laura Anna Sharp,' Nick Fury recited from the folder in front of him. Shooting me a dubious glance, he continued. 'Also in some deep shit with a Kree soldier who is on the loose with a genetically engineered alien which belonged to your girl.'

I prevailed in silence. I equaled the right to remain silent. They had me holed up in some interrogation room with bright white lights and fake windows that once again radiated white light. I sunk deep into my chair, dying to correct him that it wasn't an alien but a symbiote.

They told me I could see Laura. That I could see her but they brought me here and kept me for God knows how long.

'Now, you better talk me into this before I make you.'

I swallowed toughly and uttered the single word that wracked my head. 'Symbiote.'

'Excuse you?'

'It's not an alien,' I said. 'They're called symbiotes.'

'I'm well aware of the terms, Brock, tell me more. What has your girl got to do with this? Is this alien infectious?'

'Of course not! Tel-Kar told me about Venom not bonding with him and he wanted Laura's,' I confessed. Resorting to begging, I pleaded sadly shaking my self out of the cuffs they had me linked to and I could easily snap out of. 'That's why I need to see her, Fury. Please.'

Fury growled. 'You know damn well not to mess with space beings. Yet you spite him and challenged him. It cost you a life.'

'What?' I whispered sullenly; anxious. 'W-whose life?'

Nick Fury took a few steps backward, pacing slowly across the floor. The blaster in his utility belt played peek-a-boo dangerously, making me quiver. 'When Tel-Kar pulled the symbiote out of Ms. Sharp, it reacted negatively with another life in her system. We found Sharp with a fatal hemorrhage and an aborted fetus.'

'A what?'

'We could only save one out of two lives that room. She lost a lot of blood and it was too late.'

'No.'

'Sorry, Brock. She suffered a miscarriage.'
