His breath came out in pants as he clutched her hand and the gem tightly in his palm. Blood rushing to his head as he stepped harder, turning into the alley. Eagle eyes quietly assessing the place.
"Barq." Her call did a made goosebumps appear on his skin as he turned slightly at the urgency of his.
Stopping, he held her face in his palms. Warm, full of concern. Eyes gazing at her with longing and emotions she wasn't able to digest.
Her fingers curled around his palm resting on her cheek. Long fingers ruffling her scarf.
"Trust me. Layla." He begged leaning near her. Voice muffled with his mask covering his face.
Her fingers worked onto his own accord as she uncovered his face. Her gaze caressing his every features. Fingers caressing his face so softly so ever. Closing his eyes he sighed heavily into her palm.
Joining their heads, he wished for her to be his with his every beat of heart.
And just like mist, she disappeared from his arms. A tear escaped from his eyes as he fixed his keffiyeh and fisted the talisman tightly in his palm.
"There he is." Hearing the man yell, his lips broke into an evil smirk and his eyes darkened as he ran to the tallest building ever.
He was the fastest runner of all. Within a minute he was inside the building.
Pairs of steps running behind him making him run harder than them. He was on the roof when he breathed heavily. Warm feeling buzzing in his body. His hands shook with all the blood and emotions rushing to his heart. A smile crooked onto his face as he remembered the longing in his eyes.
Suddenly, all he heard was the beep in his ears and it buzzed as his eyes turned blurry. With a smile he fell on the concrete. He was hit by the iron rod.
But, the fist still closed tightly as if he have to run harder. Away from the world.
"Here, he is. Search for the gem." The leader of group commanded as he hit him with the iron rod on his face. Blood rushed out from his nose. Soaking his drenched shirt in all red blood.
He laughed and coughed out blood. Getting up from the laying position he jerked his head making his hairs jump. Clutching the gem tightly in his palm as he ran to the edge. Smirking, he pushed everyone out of his way. Feets stepping harder as he closed the distance between him and the edge and jumped of the roof.
Time slowed. As he spread his hands. The small talismanic green ball shining his palm.
Smoke evaporated from it as he crushed it with his arms and fingers. A genuine smile spreading out on his face as he closed his eyes and remembered Layla.
Her memories lingering in his mind as he float in the air.
He was bracing himself to feel the thud when he was going fall and he did feel it, the thud, the sudden hitting of his bread on the gravel ground. Something trickled out of his head, thick, cold and sloppy. Slowly, he felt blood pooling around him, soaking his white shirt in his own blood.
Then he felt it, the shreads of gem pulsating in palm. His brows frowned in confusion amidst the cruciating pain he was feeling, how could the gem have any magic left in it when it was broken?
A question ticked in his mind and hissed when the he felt the sharp pain hitting his head, at that all he wished for comfort and he was teleported to the near a residential area.
He didn't land on soft mattress, he was still lying on the gravel road but instead of darkness surrounding him there was lights. Huge lights twinkling in the sky. His head spun and even when his head hurt, he still had the energy to support himself on his palm.
He leaned on his palm, pulling his weight together and exhaled heavily. His breaths coming out in deep pants, cold and heavy breaths. He could hear his own heart rushing at pace of marathon. Wincing, he tried to calm calm his heart and wandered his eyes around him, trying to familiarize himself with the place.
Out of nowhere, a shadow loomed over his slightly tilted figure and Barq stiffened. His fingers fisted around the gem and he waited for whoever that was to come infront of him.
"I see you have left behind everything." It was the Jinn, the familiar voice of it made Barq visibly shake.
"Was you the one who teleported me?" Barq gritted through his teeth, ignoring the blood trickling down his head now. The pain in his head was growing sharp with each passing second.
"I would never help a human, more precisingly the one who dared challenged." The voice growled making Barq shake his head.
"Where am I?" He questioned gazing around him.
"That's the thing about magic you don't know when it ruins you and you don't know where it ends you." The words were ended with a sharp menacing chuckle and then everything faded to black.
The End
