[50] Leaving Behind The Past

By night time, after curfew, me and the Marauders had to go down to that corridor beside the Library in order to get to the mystery time portal. However, before we actually went down, the Gryffindors had made a lot of fuss about me leaving them.

Marlene and I had shared a rather tearful goodbye (on her part of course) and she was quite inconsolable. Lily hugged me and her state was rather better than Marlene's as she was not crying her eyes out.

But honestly all this made me feel very emotional. I mean in all those months I had been feeling emotional about my family and stuff but now I really don't want to leave them behind. But the best part was that when we were about to go out of the common room, Peter came up holding Moony's camera, "I think there's some time left for a photograph."

Oh that is why we hadn't seen him anywhere earlier; he was fixing Moony's camera. We didn't take just one photograph instead we snapped lots and lots of them.

The snapping and posing made Marlene forget that she was crying a few seconds before and she too joined in for the pics. I kept two of the pictures with me; one in which there were all the Gryffindors with me among them and the other which I had captured of the four Marauders and Lily and Marlene.

Even though Marlene was literally begging to come and see me off but the other four refused saying that the Cloak wasn't big enough for them. Moony, being a Prefect, was not going to come under the Cloak since he was pretty confident that if anyone caught him he could simply say that he was on a round.

We silently crept out of the Common Room and made our way to that particular corridor. According to Moony's calculations we had about fifteen minutes to get to that tapestry because I had to step into it at the exact time on which I came here before. We went down the shaft and there was the tapestry as always gleaming with a thousand beautiful colors.

And now is the part which is the hardest; saying goodbye to the four of them.

"Guys, I think... I simply can't bid my farewells to you people," I spoke finally.

"How about you say that we would definitely meet someday soon (I hope it's soon) instead of bidding farewells as you put it," Padfoot remarked.

"I hope to, really," I replied.

Yeah, hope. Even though I didn't want to think about what would happen to them in the future, still it hung over me like a shadow. Like a desperate cloud of darkness.

However to put a long story short, this was one of the most emotional goodbyes I had ever had to say. I don't think I'll just be accounting everything about now.

Anyways Moony had told me that he would miss me a lot and the fact that he really regretted that the only other sane Marauder (other than him of course) was leaving and that he would have to look after these three idiots all by himself again.

James didn't get much emotional as he simply smiled at it all and said that he would miss the awesome prankster and his little sister from the future. Overcome by everything, I hugged James just like I had done with Lily and Marlene.

"Now don't start crying like a toddler, lil sis. Be strong. Who knows we might even meet someday? Probably when me and Lily would be married and happy with our own little family. That I can guarantee though I can't say anything for the three of them; Padfoot hardly ever settles down, Pete hasn't even asked Mary out yet (except the Ball, yeah, forget the Ball) and Moony thinks being committed is purely a hustle."

That made me sadder than ever. Of course there was no way possible that we could meet again. I mean I don't know about the other three but James and Lily... Better not think about that right now.

Anyhow in the end it was Sirius's turn. Don't get me wrong but... This time I really thought about staying. Tell you what, Sirius has the most adorable eyes ever (not always, I mean, its only when he widens them in that innocent puppy face expression) and he always uses that to his advantage.

"So you really are going," he spoke, "you know I had almost begun to believe that we all had been together for years and all that future thingy was just a joke."

I shook my head, "yeah, me too. But sometimes jokes are more serious than facts."

Oh come on, that does not even make any sense. The tapestry was gleaming indicating that it was time for me to leave. I unfastened the Tree of Life necklace that I wore every time and gave it to Sirius.

"Its a charm," I explained, "my mother gave it to me when I was little. She said that it blesses life to the wearer, helps them through dark times and all that kind of stuff. I want you to keep it."

He nodded, "thanks. I'll always keep this with me."

I smiled and he returned the gesture.

Moony spoke, "look, if you guys are gonna kiss or something just give us a warning first and we could leave you to it."

Sirius laughed, "yeah you got your warning. Better close your eyes, Moons."

The others laughed and after saying goodbye in unison they left leaving me and Sirius alone in there.

"Farewell, Kitten," he spoke. And then pulling me gently towards him, he kissed me. When we pulled apart it was time to go for me.

"I'll miss you all," I told him.

"Same here I can guarantee you," he replied.

Then looking at him for one last time, I placed my hand on the tapestry and just like before it sucked me inside. The endless spinning took hold and quite soon everything turned dark.
