[30] Evans And McKinnon

After the Quidditch tryouts in which Wormtail crept out to the kitchens to grab a snack or two, Padfoot and Prongs totally rocking the game (showing off every now and then) while me and Moony just sat down on the grass watching Quidditch.

Actually I was the one watching while Moony was worrying about his Transfiguration homework. So yeah what was I saying? Oh. Well, after all that they had classes so I made my way back to the Common Room.

Wormtail had been helpful enough to say the password for me as I crept inside unnoticed under the Invisibility Cloak. When I finally stepped inside the dorm, I let out a sigh of relief. I flopped down on my current bed, my mind totally whirring with thoughts.

I mean I know everything over here is quite chill despite the fact that Lily almost sussed me out at the school grounds. I had just folded the Cloak and put it on the bed when the door slammed open. I practically jumped out of my wits.

"Aha, found you!"

At the door was Lily Evans and another girl with wavy blonde hair (she reminds me of Lockhart's crazy hair but hers is a bit straighter and a lot tame uh... Never mind).

"So you're Sirius's new girlfriend," the blonde one spoke, "damn interesting. Quite his type. Tall. Beautiful. Looks smart enough."

Wait, what?

"What are you talking about?" I spoke up, "I'm not anyone's girlfriend."

She smirked, "sassy, aren't you? So, Lils, you know who this chick is?"

Lily shrugged, "no. Haven't had the pleasure of meeting. Ever. Who are you?"

Uh oh, trouble waiting ahead. Who am I exactly? I think I don't know. Or perhaps forgot. What the hell am I supposed to tell them? That I'm a girl from their future who accidentally got thrown here and also expect them to believe me? Nope, not happening.

"Hey... I know. She looks a lot like what would happen if the youngest Everhart sister dipped her head in a tank of red paint."

Oooh, Blondie, I'm kinda annoyed by you. No one makes fun of my hair. And when I say no one, I mean no one. But before I could come up with a convincing story, I was saved the trouble.

"Hello ladies," a familiar drawling voice caused them to spin around. Padfoot, who else? Thank God. I'm saved.

"What are you doing here?" Lily asked.

He smirked, "forgot my quills. By the way, Evans, you never ditched Charms before."

She straightened, "I had an important situation to deal with."

He came towards his side of the room and took out a bag from which he fetched out some quills, "but that important situation happens to be in my dorm right now for which you are not at all accountable."

The Blondie piped up, "well I think I am. Being your ex, I kind of figured it's my right to know who's the one you date next. And no I'm not going on a killing spree and your darling girlfriend is safe from my wrath, so you can both relax."

At first both of us stared at her.

"We're not dating," we spoke in unison.

"Well... The idea's not horrible though," a short while later Padfoot resumed, "and I'd have loved it but no. Not yet. Still I can assure you... Ow!"

I still had my wand (thankfully) and using it I had toppled him down before he could finish the sentence.

He got up to his feet and shot me a flashy grin. What's up with him, honestly? Ever since that little banter in the library, he hasn't stopped being all flirtatious and weird.

"How cute," Miss Blondie remarked.

"Yeah. Thank you very much. I happen to know how cute I am. Appreciate the compliment though," he turned back towards them, "now do any of you have a problem or something? Because both of you are missing out on Charms."

Lily spoke up completely ignoring his statement, "who is she? Frankly, I have never seen her around in the entire school. I don't remember seeing her anywhere. Isn't that an oddity?"

Yup, it is.

"Do you want me to explain?" Wow, now he's asking for permission despite being so excited to inform everyone just a few hours ago. I nodded for him to continue. We could do an Unbreakable Vow afterwards to make sure they don't spill the beans.

"So the fact that you have not ever seen her around is because she doesn't go to school here. I mean not in this era. She's from the future." He told them a little about the time portal and how he found me in the Whomping Willow and this and that.

Both the girls were staring at us in shock.

"You used to be such a convincing liar but I think your skills are getting a bit rusted," after a long pause, Blondie remarked.

He shrugged, "Marlene, I'm not lying at the moment. I just told you and it totally depends on you whether you'd like to believe it or not."

Lily narrowed her eyes, "and why should we believe you?"

Padfoot shrugged, "don't then. But I'd like you to know that I see no benefit whatsoever in lying to you about her. And by the way, her name's Kat."

Marlene (the Blondie) offered me her hand, "hi Kat, I'm Marlene McKinnon and that's my bestie Lily Evans."

She happens to be an outgoing and cheerful sort of person. Like more than just cheerful. But anyways. Then turning towards Lily she spoke, "come on Lils. You could ask dear ol' Remy and he's bound to speak the truth. We'll know it then."

Lily finally nodded, "okay. But if I find out that it's one of your abominable pranks I swear..."

Padfoot finished the sentence for her, "I would gladly offer myself to be beheaded. Happy, now? Oh and by the way (though I'm pretty sure the need won't arise) if in case you are to behead me, make sure not to spoil my handsome features."

Lily rolled her eyes, "shut up, Black."

I was honestly not getting even half of what was happening.

Marlene spoke up, "don't worry Kat your secret is safe with us."

I hardly doubt that.

At last Lily looked at me, "is this all the truth?" I nodded. "No strings attached?" No, definitely not. "You know it's not 1st of April, right?" Of course, I do. Then she gave a low nod, "I'll have to talk to Potter about this then."

It's kinda cute that they call each other by their surnames.

"Class is over Evans, you better be heading to the Astronomy tower now," Padfoot called after her.

"You stop reminding me my time table," she answered back and was gone.

Marlene however turned to look at me, "you know what, I believe you. However absurd it sounds but still... And I have this feeling that we're going to be the best of friends."

Yeah sure, why not? If only you stop referring to my hair as a tank of red paint.

"Bye, see ya," she yelled afterwards. And within a second she had skipped off.

"That was quite sooner than I expected," he remarked.

I just remembered something, "you didn't attend your class either."

He shrugged it off, "of course I didn't. Professor Flitwick is going to give me a detention but well I'm such a detention lover that it doesn't really matter."

Uh yeah, I can see that.

"You know what, I always exceed expectations of my teachers just by stepping into a classroom," he mumbled.

I know. Same case with Fred and George.

"Oh, and I forgot to tell you earlier," he spun around just before he was stepping out of the dorm, "meet us in the library after 2:30. We have a very important matter to discuss."

Okay... Until 2:30 then.
