[05] Meeting The Chosen One

I'm really excited, to be honest. Tonight I'm going to have my first ride in a flying car! Now when I think about it, Sally and Miss Akulya would believe I've totally lost it if they heard about all the things I do here. I tried to appear as calm as possible but honestly, my stomach was twisting into knots.

Actually, it was my idea to bring Harry here. From all I have heard of the Dursleys, I know they can easily be compared to the asylum people. I mean I can understand that Harry Potter is in the same situation as I was a few weeks before and I sympathize wholeheartedly with the poor boy. So I thought why not give him a break and a chance at a free happy life at the Burrow?

I know he would love it here because firstly he'll have the company of his best friend 24/7, secondly Mum will make sure he's not starved and thirdly there are so many people around here that one can't ever get bored. Trust me the list could go on forever but I think these points are just enough.

I was reading a book that I had borrowed from Ron about a wizarding game called Quidditch in order to calm my excited self down. However, I immediately shut it when I heard a knock. It was Fred of course. Three short knocks and one gentle tap. This was the signal for me to come out.

George had gone over to wake Ron up and cover his mouth while revealing the secret so he would not yelp from joy. Fred took me to the backyard where George and Ron joined us. He was practically beaming with happiness.

"Fred, have you ever driven a car before?" I asked since I was quite worried about crashing to our death in mid-air.

"Of course I have," he replied confidently.

But knowing Fred, I was still not convinced, "and when or where exactly did you get to drive a car?"

I mean he couldn't have his driving license, wizard or not. He raised an eyebrow in amusement as if questioning my sanity, "why, in my dreams of course. I always dreamed about flying a car halfway through England and see, it's coming true."

Oh God, have mercy on us then.

However, we silently got in the car and he fired up the engine after pressing a silencing button. He sure knew how it worked and that's a tiny relief. It was a blue Ford Anglia from the outside but from the inside it seemed like a chunk of gadgets. Its storage space was enlarged by magic and it had lots of silver buttons with weird functions such as invisibility and flying.

"We're driving onto the deserted roads first and then I'll press this button and this car will start flying. And no screaming Kat, Ron. We have to be as discreet as possible. The Muggles can't know about this," Fred explained.

Sure enough, after some smooth driving he pressed the red button and the car started to rise up in the air.

"There we go! To the stars," George exclaimed.

It was all so breathtaking. I glanced out the window and gasped at seeing the midnight blue sky dotted with glittering stars. It was almost like an airplane. No, even better than an airplane.

"Full speed ahoy," George instructed.

"Aye Aye Captain!" Fred obliged and pressed down the accelerator. It amazed me that the twins knew pirate slang but of course, they were Fred and George. They knew all kinds of funny things.

He switched on the invisibility mode and with a loud zing we were off. I clutched the seat tightly while Ron was hanging his head out the window probably feeling sick. The twins however were laughing like maniacs.

After what seemed a long ridiculous ride we reached Surrey. Soon we were hovering above the attic of the Dursley's house. Fred released the invisibility button and the car became visible. They lowered the car to be on the level of Harry's bedroom window.

A boy was sitting miserably on a bed with his head drooping low. Must be Harry. Fred tapped on the window to gain his attention, "Oi Harry! Open the window, it's us."

Startled by the commotion Harry came to the window and seeing us his eyes lit up, "Fred, George, Ron! What are you doing here?"

George remarked, "for starters we're saving your a-" But I gave him a glare which meant mind your language please so he corrected himself, "I mean we're here to rescue you. Now open the window."

He shook his head, "I can't, it's locked."

The twins however were not disillusioned at all. Fred took out a bobby pin and twisted it inside the lock of the window.

"Bill knows some Muggle tricks that come in handy at times," George told me, "the pin trick is his favorite. Step aside Harry, we're coming in."

Harry watched in amazement as they opened the window and climbed inside his room.

"Where's your stuff?" Fred asked. He told them it was locked in the cupboard under the stairs.

"We'll get it. You put Hedwig in the car," George instructed. He handed Ron a snowy white owl. The twins opened his bedroom door designing the same pin as a suitable key and they silently went downstairs. A few minutes later they came back dragging Harry's trunk.

But unfortunately for us, the Dursleys woke up from the commotion. A thundering and pounding sound of footsteps echoed. "Uncle Vernon!" Harry was quite scared.

"Don't you worry scarhead we'll take you out of here no matter what," Fred assured him and instructed us to pull Harry out of the window. George steered the car this time and when it reached a suitable angle all of us grabbed Harry's hands and pulled.

The door burst open (just as we managed to topple him inside) revealing a fat man with a thick mustache standing outside fuming in anger. "What do you toerags think you're doing in my house?" he snarled but was quite alarmed to see the flying car.

"Goodbye Uncle Vernon, goodbye Aunt Petunia, goodbye Big D," Harry waved cheerfully, "see ya next summer." George pressed down the accelerator and we were off leaving the Dursleys staring at us in shock.

"We did it," the twins gave each other a high five.

"I can't believe you guys came here," Harry spoke, "thanks so much. And... Does this flying car belong to you?" He was genuinely curious and was looking around excitedly.

"No, it's Dad's," Ron replied, "Fred and George stole it for a few hours tonight."

George cleared his throat as if the answer was not satisfactory enough. "We borrowed the car actually. That's not stealing, right?" Fred corrected him.

"I can imagine what Hermione would say when she hears about this," Ron mumbled.

"If you got found by the Ministry, you know you could get trialed and sent off to Azkaban," I spoke up in the voice I expected her to talk in, "or worse expelled."

I had heard a lot about her from Ron and had a fairly correct guess of what she might say. Seems like she's more afraid of getting expelled than getting killed.

The twins burst out laughing, "yeah, exactly."

Harry turned to look at me in surprise. Guess he just noticed that I was also present.

"How do you know Hermione could say that?" Ron asked still a bit baffled at my quick responses.

"I heard you talking about Granger once... twice... thrice, no almost the whole summer. So it was a pretty easy guess."

Harry was still staring at me with wide eyes, "you're not... You're not Ginny, are you?"

Of course, he might have known of the only Weasley sister.

"Now Ginny would have to take an Ageing potion to be of my age, right?" I remarked.

"You never told me you had an elder sister," he turned towards Ron.

"Well actually," Ron spoke, "even we found out about her a few weeks ago."

I narrowed my eyes, "excuse me, Pumpkin, but I'm not an object that you just discovered."

George glanced back for a second, "why hadn't we thought of it before? Pumpkin is a better nickname for ickle Ronniekins."

He snapped back, "shut up. And I'm not a pumpkin!"

I ordered, "eyes on the wheel, Georgie. If we crash the Ministry will definitely hear about this and Mum will condemn you to prison herself."

He laughed, "thy wish is my command."

Soon the Burrow came into focus and I breathed out of relief. George carefully landed the car and parked it in the garage. We silently climbed out hoping everyone was still asleep. All of us tiptoed to the door dragging Harry's stuff behind us. But trouble was waiting.

As soon as we reached there, we met Mum waiting for us at the doorstep. "And from where exactly are you coming kids?" she asked. Her voice was calm but her eyes were threatening.

At that moment I understood why all the Weasleys were scared of her, because when she gets angry she really gets angry. And this time it was our turn to be doomed.

Fred and George looked at each other and then spoke, "Mum... Actually... It was Kat's idea."

I glared at them, "how can you even say that!"

Mum spoke, "Fred, George, Ron, and Katerina, I want to know the actual reason why you stole your father's car and went out for a ride."

Oh God, we're done for.

"We borrowed it," Fred protested but was silenced when she held her hand for him to stop with the excuses.

She looked at me then, "Katerina do you have to say something?"

I began, "uh...well... Yes, it was my idea. I thought Harry deserved a normal summer break so we brought him here away from the atrocities of those Muggles."

Her eyes widened, "Harry Potter? Harry James Potter?"

Fred whispered from behind, "the Boy who Lived!"

George joined, "the Chosen One!"

She glared at them, "yes, I know very well. So this means you flew Arthur's car over to Surrey and back?"

The twins added, "yes we did, Mum. But no Muggle saw us. We used the Invisibility button and we certainly did not crash."

Mum spoke, "we'll check that later. Hello, Harry dear. Have you had dinner yet? No? Well, come in then. Come in." She led Harry inside towards the kitchen.

After they were gone I turned towards the twins and twisted their ears (painfully, I hope). "Ow it hurts, Kat," Fred spoke.

"Heaven's sake, woman! My beautiful ear is going to bleed," George remarked.

I smirked, "oh well, it should bleed. After all, you broke the pact and typically presented me to Mum for punishment. And I think you deserve some too."

They spoke in unison, "but we knew she would never punish you."

Mum's voice reached us, "boys are you coming in or shall I fetch you myself?"

We sprinted inside and locked the door.

"Of course we're coming, Mum," they replied.
