Ch 6: Secrets of the Jewel
Hinata had heard rumors of the two Uchiha boys gaining extraordinary power within their clan, the Mangekyo Sharingan. She hadn't seen Izuna since the incident with Butsuma and as upsetting that was for her she still had things to do... She had, however, been meeting with Madara and just talking and training a bit between the two of them. Nothing important was shared between the two, seeing as he knew she had some sort of tie with the Senju as well now. She had been upset to find that he hadn't been as friendly with her as he usually was, but she didn't hold it against him…
She slipped out of her inn and made her way to the Uchiha compound. The guards greeted her politely since her showing up more and more seemed to make her seem like a common acquaintance among the Uchiha. They all seemed to like her, and it wasn't just because of her polite personality or calm demeanor, it was also the fact that every time she visited Madara seemed to smile a little more. She waved as she strolled through the gates. Aurora ran over to her and embraced her with a smile.
"Welcome back! I hope you had no trouble with any Senju on the way here." Aurora said and Hinata smiled. "None at all, thank you… is Madara ready? He promised we could go to the shinobi merchants today since the civilian merchants don't seem very fond of him." Hinata said and a look flashed through her eyes. "Ne, ne, Hinata-chan~" she said in a sing song voice and elbowed the younger woman lightly. "Are you two going on a date?" she asked and a deep red blush flushed over her face and she heard Madara sigh from behind her.
"No mother, I made a promise and I intend to keep my promises…" he grumbled then turned to Hinata. "So shall we be off?" he asked and Hinata nodded. "We are going to train after we look over the things they are selling, is that fine with you?" he asked and she smiled and nodded. "Yes, thank you." She said and he raised a brow. "Why are you thanking me? I had promised you that we would go the other day…" he said with an eyebrow raised in confusion, his voice thick with confusion as well.
She blushed and fumbled over her words. "Thank you… for not leaving me behind… thank you for helping me in my training and believing in me…" she whispered and he blinked in surprise then turned away from her with an irritated look but a red dusting on his cheeks. "Yeah, yeah, yeah… just don't get too uh… appreciative…" he said and she could hear the pout in his voice. She was swiftly reminded of the time she had embarrassed Sasuke by thanking him for helping her. He had had pretty much the same reaction, although she had seen the annoyed pout that had adorned his lips.
She giggled behind her hands and Madara couldn't help but glance at her. Her eyes were closed as she giggled at his reaction, a deeper red blush coated his cheeks and he shoved her lightly. "Hey! Hey! No laughing at me!" he snapped at her but she only giggled more, causing the embarrassed blush to darken. He crossed his arms over his chest and slouched forwards, causing her to smile at him sweetly. He huffed and trudged ahead of her, causing her to stop giggling and rush to catch up.
They spent hours searching through the things the shinobi merchants had to offer, but nothing caught their eye. They left the shinobi merchant village and found a place far from the curious shinobi there to find a place to spar. Hinata had stumbled upon a familiar place, the waterfall she would train on in her own time. The pond surrounding the waterfall was much larger now than it was in her time. She blinked when a chuckle echoed from Madara and he was almost at her in an instant.
She flipped backwards and avoided the fist he had sent at her. It seemed he was eager to spar with her. He was so close to her once more and she was deftly dodging his fists, but not having a moment to even toss in a hit of her own. She bit her lip and spun to the left out of the reach of one of his fists. She squealed in surprise when a clone lunged at her from behind. She jumped out of his reach and landed on the surface of the pond. He raised a brow at her and she fell into a familiar fighting stance.
He just strolled forwards and onto the surface of the water as well. "You know, if I get to you here I will dunk you." He said and a deep blush coated her features. She was wearing that one white shirt E'lara had given her…
She squealed and avoided his hits once more. He chuckled, he supposed that since she was so easy to rile up and embarrass that he liked doing so. She flipped out of his grasp, or so she thought. She jumped backwards to avoid the Madara in front of her she bumped into the one behind her and his arms wrapped around her tightly. She looked down and sighed in relief when she realized they were no longer on the surface of the water. A deep red blush coated her cheeks as she felt the heat of his breath on the nape of her neck.
"And you suppose you can escape me that easily, Hinata-chan?" his voice purred into her ear and she gulped as the blush deepened on her cheeks. His voice held such a sultry tone and she didn't know whether to choke and faint or try to bumble out her words like an idiot. She felt the tip of his nose trail down the side of her neck and she gulped once more as her eyes fluttered as she became lightheaded and the heat that was residing in her cheeks increased.
"M-Madara…" she managed to stammer and he chuckled and stopped his teasing, only for the back of her head to collide with his chin. He stumbled backwards and she began hyperventilating to try and calm the blush on her cheeks. He rubbed his forehead then looked over at her once more. He chuckled then lunged for her she squealed and dodged his hit; only to duck out of the way and lunge at him as well. He just happened to be faster and caught the knee that he knew was going to be aimed for his side had she gotten close enough.
He shoved her knee away and deflected a swift strike of the gentle fist soon after. She was back to dodging his hits as soon as he had deflected the jyuuken strike. Her back collided with a tree and her face flamed red when he pinned her hands above her head on the tree with one hand and held a kunai to her neck with the other. She blushed and looked away from him with a pout. He chuckled and released her with a shake of the head.
He started to walk away but she lunged for him, he turned to face her in time to grab her by the shoulder and upper arm, sling her to the ground and pin her there. Her pale Amethyst eyes glared up at him and he raised a brow. "I happen to have the Sharingan… Hinata… you can't catch me off guard." He chuckled and a smirk crossed his lips. She blushed as she realized how he was keeping her down now, he was pretty much sitting on her stomach, she thanked every Kami out there that he was not as heavy as she had thought he was.
"So little Hyuuga…" he began and she noticed he had leaned closer to her. "I'm actually kind of curious…" he said and she glanced up at him. "How much fight do you have left in you if I… if I do this?" he asked and she blushed darker as she felt his breath on her lips. He was not expecting her to head butt him. Nor was he expecting her to kick him. Not even she expected the word that fell from her innocent lips to do so. "Perverted bastard." she snapped with a deep red blush on her cheeks.
He stood and chuckled, he liked making her angry. He tossed an arm over her shoulder eliciting a huff from her, and then found he could no longer use said arm and that it now hung limply by his side, instead of laughing at himself for getting what he deserved, he cradled his aching arm. He stopped to roll up the sleeve on his arm to see seven angry red bruises from where she had struck so swiftly. He laughed at her irate expression "Hmm… maybe I need to anger you in fights more, you seem to move faster than turtle gear when angry." He chuckled, but then his eyes went wide as she slipped forwards and struck another set of tenketsu.
He grumbled the entire way back to the Uchiha compound, finding that now; both of his arms were rendered useless. When they reached the gates of the compound she spun on her heel and headed, where he assumed she would be going, straight home. He chuckled and shook his head. He enjoyed eliciting responses from her, some more than others. He sighed the moment he reentered his own room and planted himself on his bed, propping his feet up with a smug grin.
:-:-:-:-:
Hinata sighed in irritation as she made her way back to her inn. She made an honest attempt at steeling her nerves and calming the raging blush on her cheeks, but to no avail. The feeling of how close he had been to her, the warmth that had radiated off of him, and the churning of her stomach that came with his close proximity… there was nothing she could do to douse the flames that had been lit in her belly. She sighed and rubbed at her reddened cheeks, hoping that no one had noticed them as she wandered into the civilian settlement.
She really didn't want anyone seeing her the way she currently was. Flustered, embarrassed beyond belief, and wanting nothing more than to return to the Uchiha compound. She was ashamed of the fact she yearned for the proximity of the Uchiha, sure… she's helped them out and protected them, but she had tried so hard to convince herself that it was only due to the fact that the entire shinobi world was in peril that she had ever come to this time to help them. But the longer she stayed, the more she was learning that it was not just the fact that she was here to save the shinobi world that she was here.
She was also here because the more she lied to herself about her reasons, she knew her truths better. She was here because the more she stayed, the more she got to know the Uchiha, the more she got to know Madara as a person and not as a fearsome being to run away from. She learned that the longer she stayed, she was learning about who the Senju brothers were, she was getting to know them for who they were and not who they were said to be.
She understood them, and being the bleeding heart she was… she wanted nothing more than to help them with every fiber of her small framed being. As everyone had always told her, she has too much heart for such a small person. A slow smile crossed her lips as she thought about it a little longer. They also reminded her of home… that's why she worked so hard to help them. She sighed and flopped face first onto her bed, decidedly having had enough excitement for one day.
Her eyes fluttered closed as she tuned out the world. She awoke the next morning bright and early, her only thoughts were of getting back to the Uchiha compound. She couldn't quite understand what was pushing her to hurry so much. She shrugged it off and took off out of her door, leaving her armor behind; she knew she wouldn't have a need for it today. She propelled herself up into the trees and deftly moved from branch to branch.
She came across a small area in between the Senju and Uchiha properties, it was a small area in between the trees. It held a large river with banks holding rocks and a ledge up above. As she landed on the surface of the river, a sudden sorrow overtook her. She had no idea where this ache had come from but it was a deeply embedded sorrow. Hinata's eyes drooped a bit when she remembered the picture of the woman, soaked in the blood of another, the sorrowful yet fierce look that had resided on the woman's face.
It made her wonder, what exactly had happened to the woman. Her feet froze against the water as she watched a barely there apparition appear. Hinata was confused beyond belief, this had never happened to her before… The apparition transformed into a woman with blaring red eyes. Hinata could only see said eyes because of the illuminating glow that emanated from the eyeholes in her mask. The world around Hinata suddenly darkened, but she found a red glow emanating from herself.
Hinata shuffled around in her shirt and pulled the glowing red jewel from it. The glow from the jewel was almost as bright as the glow from the woman's eyes. "You yearn so dearly to learn what happened to me, do you not? Why I was never mentioned in any of those scrolls… why no one ever remembered more of me than of such sorrowful reminders… A bloodstained blade and a title. A glowing red jewel and a broken obsidian box. A sorrowful tale and tears. A broken Uchiha and a guilty Senju. A woman and a mask. A man with a broken heart. A lovely ring left to rust and be forgotten. A man betrayed by his closest friend, left with an angered village.." Her voice echoed around Hinata and held an ethereal echo alongside a crackling sadness.
Hinata's heart ached, the tone of her voice struck something deep within Hinata. "I do… I wish to figure out how I can help." Hinata said and the taller woman's eyes narrowed through the mask. "What a paradox of time…" the woman sighed. "But… I guess such is the universe of time and space. It runs in circle after circle I suppose." The woman muttered softly, her voice slightly tinged with anger, yet still rueful. "I suppose I could tell you how you could go about this and most likely not fuck up." The woman said and Hinata blinked, now she was certain that the woman titled Okami was most definitely not her, in any time period what so ever.
Hinata watched as the ghostly woman strode around her. She figured she would probably be seeing more of this strange woman, even after she was finished speaking here. "Don't…" the woman began and Hinata's attention was captured once more. "Don't forsake yourself. I had forsaken myself… that is why I am what I am now. I killed all who opposed me after some point… It's a shame that I can't even remember when it actually happened… it just… happened." The woman said and Hinata furrowed her brow and watched as the scenery changed and an image of the woman strode silently over atop the water.
Hinata watched as people from a variety of clans surrounded her. "Why do you fight for him?! He's a traitor!" that was the main thing the villagers, from what Hinata could tell, were yelling at her. "You don't understand… none of you do! You never stopped to see what was happening to him… but I have had to watch him! I've watched him change!" Hinata heard the woman yell and the villagers began yelling obscene things at her and calling her a traitor as well.
The woman shook her head and Hinata's heart ached, she sympathized with this woman. "Okami! You're nothing more than the whore of a traitor! Even Butsuma-san agrees! Who do you think organized this little attempt?" one man yelled and Hinata's eyes saddened. "I understand… but I'm no whore…" she began and Hinata heard the rage begin to boil in her voice. "I have only ever cared for him… none of you would ever understand… you never had to watch him bend until he began to break. You never had to love a broken man!" she snapped and familiar laughter echoed around.
Even Hinata was fear stricken when she heard the laughter, she couldn't tell if it were real or from the scene that Okami was showing her. "Butsuma." Hinata whispered, and had only then noticed that Okami had whispered the same name. "You can't do anything right… and we Senju have always known this… that is why we destroyed everything that the Uchiha once was." Butsuma said and Hinata could hear the gritting of Okami's teeth.
Okami then lunged at Butsuma and he jumped just out of her reach. "I killed Aurora Uchiha." He said and Okami pulled her blade, the bells jingling as she did so. "I will destroy you!" she snapped and lunged for him once more, but some of the villagers from another shinobi clan jumped in front of her and she held her blade back for only a moment, giving the villagers time to lower their guard slightly; but then the blade came down once more and she cut them down.
Hinata's eyes went wide, she was not expecting Okami to be so ruthless. The image of the woman beside her began to flicker. "I told you, I had forsaken myself… I did so for Madara…" Okami said, crossing her arms over her chest and Hinata frowned deeply. Okami continued to cut down the shinobi from the village, not stopping until she managed to get a hold of Butsuma. "What are you planning Senju?" she snarled and he smirked. "I've had to plan nothing, Madara has decided to return all on his own and I've had to do nothing." He chuckled and Okami stopped fighting for a moment.
"You do realize he will die, right?" Butsuma said and Okami's posture went rigid. She turned and vanished from sight. The last thing Hinata heard was Butsuma yelling something of 'Daisuke follow her, do not let her interfere.' Hinata frowned and faced the woman beside her. "I died that day… protecting him… I thought he hated me… only for me to realize in the end… I was all he'd had left in this world." Hinata suddenly felt sorry for the apparition of a woman in front of her.
She shuffled around in her pockets and pulled out the obsidian colored metal band with a single ruby inlaid in the center of the band. Ghostly fingers brushed across the surface of the ring and it shattered into dust as Okami and the surroundings flashed from view in a blinding light. "Destroy the necklace as well… unless you want to scar yourself more with my burdens…" Hinata's brow furrowed as she dwelled upon the words the woman had just said.
She decided that it was not in her best interest to think about it now and dull out her good mood any more than it already had, she would have to ask her uncle at a later time. She landed across the river from where she had been and took off running towards the Uchiha compound. She knew the path by heart now so it was second nature to jump through the trees towards her destination, even absent mindedly.
When the Uchiha compound was in sight her eyes brightened from the saddened dull and she rushed to get there. She landed in the tall grass just on the border between the forest and the plains area. She never once shook the feeling that someone had been watching her though… the feeling was still there even as she breached the threshold of the Uchiha compound.
"Hinata-chan!" Aurora greeted with a smile and Hinata returned it softly. "Uh… are the brothers around by any chance?" Hinata asked and Aurora smiled. She turned towards the window and pointed out towards the training field where Hinata could see two figures sparring atop the hill. Hinata nodded with a smile and a small bow, turning swiftly and rushing out towards the training area.
Aurora laughed softly at the exuberance the younger woman held. A small smirk crossed her lips, she figured Hinata would make a fine addition to their little group of Uchiha. Hinata felt her stare and smiled once more before she shut the door softly behind her. Hinata made her way up the hill only for her to realize that Madara was not in their little sparring group.
Tajima smiled at her slightly, while Izuna grinned at her. "Ne, ne… you're here for us for once? Not just Madara?" Izuna chuckled and she forced a glare at him. "I'm not always here for him." She said with a small huff. He grinned even wider as Tajima sighed. "Anyways, Hinata-san, before Izuna goes into a pride rant. Madara isn't here at the moment. He suddenly fled from training, not like he actually needs it anymore, but he's trying to help us get stronger as well… but… he has yet to come back so whenever he comes back you can continue your training with him if you wish." Tajima said and Hinata shook her head.
"He might not be here but I still came here to train with you all so I will." She said with a smile and a wicked smirk crossed Tajima's lips. "How well are you versed with elemental release?" Tajima asked and Hinata blinked then gulped, the look on the two Uchiha's faces didn't seem to welcoming right now….
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Madara knocked away Izuna's leg swiftly and pinned him to the ground. Their entire training regimen for the day had gone exactly like this… Madara showing Izuna a move to counter a block… but Izuna was only succeeding in making himself look more like a fool. Madara's senses were on high alert due to a strange feeling he had felt earlier, he couldn't quite place it… but he knew it couldn't possibly be good.
He barely registered that Izuna and his father were talking to him when he grunted when the overwhelming feeling grinding at his senses hit an all time high. All he could see was red, although he hadn't activated his Sharingan he knew it had something to do with him. "I will be back…" he murmured and took off running following silently to where the red had faded from his gaze and he clung to a tree as he watched what was happening below.
Engulfed in a barrier of reddish chakra, Hinata stood on one side of the river. She appeared to be trapped within the red sphere. He watched as transparent figures flickered about within the sphere. He couldn't figure out what was happening, all he knew that there was another woman in the sphere with her. He felt a draw towards this transparent woman, just as he felt a draw for the young Hyuuga.
Using his sensory skills, he could have fooled himself into thinking they were the same exact person. He shook his head and cleared his mind of said thoughts. He watched as Hinata seemed shocked about something, he wanted nothing more than to pull her from the sphere, but he knew that chakra well… it had struck him one too many times for him to even want to get near it.
It was Hinata's jyuuken chakra. He was in no way or form going to try and break through the barrier. It was not in his best interest…
His attention was captured once more when the orb surrounding Hinata fell and she was alone with the apparition of the woman who's chakra screamed at him that it was Hinata's only slightly enhanced. He shook his head of the thoughts once more and watched as Hinata pulled a shiny metal item from her clothes and handed it to the woman, who, in a blinding flash of light, vanished.
Hinata stood there for a moment, but then took off running towards what he could only assume was the Uchiha compound, why else would she be out this far from the civilian inn she stayed at. A sigh lingered on his lips before he dropped from the tree and walked the rest of his way to his home, where he knew the young woman was going to be. Her chakra left such a magnificent trail for a sensor to follow. It was a radiant blue that if you weren't a sensor, you would still know where it was because it gave you a sense of peace.
Now, given, Madara wasn't the best of sensors; but Hinata's chakra lit up his sensory skills like the sun.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Hinata flew through the hand signs that Tajima and Izuna had taught her once more. She felt the buildup of chakra, but when she opened her mouth, nothing came out but smoke and her throat became burned, swollen, and itchy. "Hinata… I just don't think fire is in your list of attributes… maybe you should stop before you hurt yourself…" Tajima said with a worried crease of the brow.
Hinata held her knees as she panted a raspy noise escaping her lips as she did so. Izuna even looked concerned for the health of the Kunoichi. "Hinata-chan…" Izuna began but the determination in Hinata's eyes silenced him. He frowned as a green glow washed over her hands and she placed them on her throat to heal it from the inside out. She flew into the hand signs once more when she was done trying to heal her throat, but a strong grasp latched itself onto her wrists.
"Listen here, you great flame failure…" his voice rumbled in her ear and a blush coated her cheeks. "If you even try to use that jutsu one more time, I will remove your hands and place them in a box, so neither can you heal them or try the jutsu again." He said with a sigh and she could practically hear the eye roll in his voice, alone. She dropped her hands from the hand signs and h made a contented grunt.
"Don't be stupid like that anymore, you hear?" he said and she nodded. "Now…" he said with a chuckle. "How about we get to work on elements I think you need improvement in?" he asked, although asking was not even the slightest bit of what that was. Hinata nodded, understanding that there was now no way out of this. The fire erupted from his lips faster than she could react, well almost…
She jumped backwards and flew into her own hand signs. Her cheeks swelled and a stream of water shot from between her lips. She flipped backwards, avoiding the punch that he had launched at her from through the steam their clashing elements had caused. The next few weeks went on like this, training with their elemental release, Madara making jokes about her being a great flame failure, and then sparring until they got tired.
Each had improved greatly, and they made a deal to continue their training as such. Madara had agreed upon this because he was focused on improving the synchronicity between him, Hinata, and his brother. They would be a force to be reckoned with if they worked out each of their little kinks. He couldn't help but crack a smile as Hinata waved them goodbye for the night, they had been training every day for three weeks, just because Hinata had decided it for the best to interact with them more.
He waved her off, as did Izuna, they actually didn't walk her home this time because they knew she could handle herself fairly well now. Madara yawned and Izuna raised a brow at him as they walked into the compound, calling it a night themselves.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Hinata had made it home without incident and had gone straight to bed. She woke early the next morning with a special agenda. She smiled and went through her morning ritual of brushing her hair and her teeth, and getting dressed for the day. She had decided that today she would head out to training a little later than normal, she had other plans this early in the morning.
She pulled on her sandals and rushed out the door and into the surrounding woods. She knew that she was headed in the exact opposite direction of the Uchiha compound but that was her plan for today. She landed in the meeting place she and Tobirama had set up and she looked around, but saw no one, no chakra anywhere…
"Tobirama!" she called out in the woods and a soft thump against the grass alerted her to the presence of someone other than Tobirama. She now regretted not bringing her armor or her katana this time. "Lady Hyuuga… have you come to accept defeat and surrender to me?" his arrogant voice froze her to the core. She turned to see him standing there. "Butsuma…" she muttered under her breath. "I called for Tobirama…" she added softly and he smirked. "I know… If you wish to see him, you have to agree to my terms." He said and her eyes narrowed.
"You would use your son as a bargaining chip to get the upper hand?" she hissed and he thought for a moment then shrugged one shoulder. "Shinobi are weapons; tools to be used by those stronger than them. Just as women have their uses as well." He said and Hinata grit her teeth. "You are sick!" she spat and he shrugged once more as he advanced on her.
"Tobirama fears me… he told me you two were talking out here, away from me so I wouldn't try to hurt you. But I know what you are, because two years before you were even born, your clan was wiped off the face of the planet." He said sourly, "And one by one they started coming back. The old man whose eyes are sealed, the old woman who gouged hers out to keep them away from me… and you… the last of the three Hyuuga jumpers that reside here." He said and Hinata's heart began to race in fear as she tried to step backwards away from him, but tree roots sprouted from the ground and surrounded her.
"Don't worry… I didn't kill the old man with the sealed eyes, the Uzumaki wouldn't let me near him. The old woman… E'lara was it? She gouged out her eyes and burned herself alive. Such a shame… her eyes could have been of use, seeing as they weren't sealed. But… as is my luck… the old broad was the source of the smell that I had those dreadful Uchiha think was actually you, and they unlocked those dreadful eyes of theirs…" Butsuma said and Hinata's eyes watered.
"Please… don't hurt me…" She whimpered and Butsuma laughed at her fear. "I am afraid I must… if I want your eyes… a pretty face is useless in war." He said and as the roots tightened around her before she could take off running. Her red jewel began to glow as he placed his fingers around her eyes and began to push. Hinata screamed her pain and he just focused on his attempt at taking her eyes. Blood trickled from her left eye and she screamed as a pulse of energy burst from her eyes. Butsuma's eyes went wide and he found he couldn't move.
Sullen laughs echoed in Hinata's mind as she watched what was happening before her. Butsuma found himself frozen as she jerked her head away from him. Her eye fell back into place as she glared at him. "I refuse to give in to you! You do not own me!" she screamed and her eyes pulsed again and he was sent flying backwards with the wind. She looked at the roots around her and as if someone had hit rewind, they sunk back into the ground. Hinata found that her eyes were losing their clarity. She had heard of this happening to the Uchiha who held Sharingan… but never a Hyuuga. They were the epitome of clear sight… and yet the only thing she could actually see was the taunting glow of the red jewel.
'Maybe I should have warned you…' the voice echoed in her mind. 'I did fall for a similar trap after all… but… all in all we are fools.'
Hinata struggled to her feet and tried to focus her eyes on the man she had sent flying, instead of the taunting voice in her mind. "What did you do to my eyes? I… I can hardly see…" she sobbed and stumbled on shaky legs. She fell into a tree and used it to push herself towards the edge of the forest. "They will all die! All those you came to save!" he yelled as she hit the ground once more. She felt around for a tree and she used it to pull herself off the ground. Someone grabbed her by the shoulder and lifted her up swiftly. "Come on Hinata… we told you to be careful dearie…" Mabui's voice echoed in her mind. She was succumbing to the pain and the taunting voice in her mind wasn't helping any.
'You're a fool… just as I was… but… maybe you have a chance I never did…'
"You over exerted your eyes, Hinata… it doesn't help that he tried to take them… they may not heal on their own now…" Hizashi said and Hinata whimpered. "Do you know any Uchiha not from this time who die?" he asked suddenly. Hinata stared at the fuzzy image that was her uncle. "Izanagi… Uchiha… he dies… saving Hikaru… who also dies… but of illness. Izanagi… would help me…" Hinata whispered, wincing as Mabui wiped at the blood.
"Hold on Hinata… I will help you the only way one can help a Hyuuga, returning their eyes to what they were once before." Hizashi said and Hinata furrowed her brow as Mabui wiped away more blood from her left eye. "He means well… But he doesn't like to explain things… what he has to do, Hinata… Is combine your eyes with a different set of eyes... they will change, but your eyes will never lose their light again." Mabui said and tears fell from Hinata's blurry eyes.
"So… the bandit that kills Izanagi…" Hinata whimpered. "Was not your uncle… he didn't kill him… you are not the reason he died. Your uncle will just take his eyes, before he dies, explaining that it is to help you…" Mabui said, but that didn't ease Hinata's suffering. She felt so guilty, stealing Izanagi's eyes… he had proposed to her, trusted her… wanted to ask her father for a marriage blessing… she had hardly known him, but she was part of the reason he could no longer see his brother. And now there was no way to stop it… Hizashi had already jumped.
"You do have a chance… destroy the amulet and you will have an even better chance…"
The voice was no longer taunting… so… Hinata did as instructed. Despite her pain she ripped the red amulet from her neck and tried to crush it, the only thing the amulet did was crack; but it did not shatter. She didn't have the energy to attempt to crush it again, but she knew that she couldn't destroy it…
'I Guess I forgot to mention that you can't destroy it huh… I guess I forgot about that little fact huh…' The voice held a tauntinglya humored tone as Hinata's consciousness faded away.
-:-:-:-:-
Tobirama watched as his father entered the Senju gates, he looked shaken up and had blood coating his hand. The sight of the blood enraged Tobirama. He lunged for his father who punched him. "You hurt her! What did you do to her!?" he growled, Hashirama had to hold him back. "The little cur is perfectly fine, I tried to take her eyes and she froze me in place and reversed my jutsu that was holding her still. She probably left this time for good." Butsuma spat and Tobirama glared at his father who swiftly turned on him and hit him twice more. "You should have brought her to me the first time you saw her in our woods, instead of making friends with the Uchiha's pet…" Butsuma growled and glared at his son.
Tobirama spat blood on his father's foot and shoved Hashirama away from him. "You insolent boy…" His father growled. "I'm done father…I really am. No more outbursts. No more abuse. I will do whatever as long as the fighting stops…" Tobirama said and made his way to his room. Hashirama looked after his younger brother in shock. "Tobi!" he called after his brother, who only spared him a side glance. "I said I was done…" He said simply and Mito bit her lip, not wanting to accept the words Tobirama had uttered.
"He has lost his hope!" she whispered and Hashirama placed a hand on her shoulder. "I will just have to prove to him that it isn't yet gone…" he said and Mito nodded. "I'm going to go check on lady Hinata." She said and ran out of the compound. She was a skilled ninja, even if she were looked down on for it. She rushed through the gates of the civilian village and barged straight into Hinata's room. "Hinata!" she called out and Mabui looked at her. "Mito…" she said and Mito crouched beside Hinata and Mabui.
"Is she going to be alright?" Mito asked and Mabui nodded, a frown deeply etched into her face. "Her eyes cannot heal on their own anymore. Hizashi Hyuuga has gone to get what it takes to fix her eyes. Butsuma wasn't very careful in his attempt to take her eyes. Not even he would have been able to use them had he succeeded." Mabui said and Hinata whimpered. "What do you mean?" Mito asked. "That gust of air that threw Butsuma away from her…that was the veil of time's safety mechanism. It had begun to cut the cord on her eyes." Mabui said with a frown. "Mabui." Hizashi called as he walked into the room. "Hizashi…" Mito said in surprise. "Mito…" he said in slight greeting.
"We needed another Uzumaki. We need to use the dual sealing jutsu on her eyes. That is the only way to combine her eyes with these." Mabui said as she brushed Hinata's hair from her eyes. Mabui looked at Mito with a hurried glance. "We need to hurry, the longer we take, the less time we have before she goes completely blind and is forced to go home!" Mabui said and pulled the eyes from the jar one at a time. "We have to hurry… the stake of the future is on the line here…" Mabui said and Mito nodded and they began the transplant of Izanagi's eyes.
Mito returned to the compound hours later, a grim look on her face. Hashirama ran to see her and he asked about Hinata. She frowned and his head dropped. "Come with me and I will tell you what I can…" she said and he followed her. "She was going blind… her eyes had begun to deteriorate because of a safety mechanism in her eyes that would sever the nerves if an attempt was made to remove them and they were not removed. Lady Mabui and another Hyuuga did all they could… but they don't know if the procedure worked…" she said and he nodded.
"If what the rumors say is true… and she had alliance with… with Madara…"he began, only stumbling over the name of his friend… ex friend. "Then your father has started this curse of hate all over again." Mito finished his unspoken sentence… she knew just as well as he did that if Hinata were allied with Uchiha… Madara would not stand for her being hurt… he took care of each and every one of his clan members, blood or not...
-:-:-:-:-
Madara had been antsy as of late, Tajima had noticed. He figured it was because of the lack of a certain small lavender eyed lady's presence, but he would not confront his eldest about it unless he wanted to get a mouth full of angry words and defiant excuses. Aurora had noticed her son's behavior, and had only become enthralled with the idea. He admittedly liked the idea of Madara becoming attached to the young woman as well, but he only expected Izuna to become attached to her.
Tajima and Aurora headed into the civilian village… it had been two months and they had seen hide, nor hair of Hinata themselves, so they had decided it was high time they did so. They had plenty of time to see the sights now, being as Madara and Izuna had awakened Mangekyo and had become head of the clan, Madara taking his own place as leader; so they had decided to visit the sweet kind hearted woman who saved Aurora and had suddenly vanished without warning.
They knew Madara and she had been training in their elemental release. Madara praised her in her efforts of attempting to use fire style, although her efforts were for naught… and she had only continuously injured herself, she still tried. Madara had found she was well endowed with her ability to use water release. She was getting better with wind release and he had praised her for such as well.
Tajima sighed… his eldest praised her to his family and had not once said a word to her in praise. Aurora furrowed her brows as she saw flowers sitting in piles at the Hyuuga woman's door. She saw that the flowers had begun to wilt; new ones had just been continually added to the pile. Aurora knocked on Hinata's door and it opened. A familiar face opened the door, but the eyes were dark. The whites of her eyes were red and puffy. "Lady Hinata… your eyes…" Aurora gasped with a frown.
"Uchiha…" Hizashi greeted. "Hyuuga… another?" Aurora asked and he nodded. "I am the last of the pure jumpers… an incident made sure of this…" he said and Tajima frowned. "I am perfectly fine now…" Hinata said, her smile was weak, but eager. "Is there any way I can go see Izuna and Madara?" she asked and the two Uchiha exchanged looks. "Ah… yes... I was going to go scouting with them this afternoon." He said and Hinata nodded. She waved the couple in her home goodbye and followed the Uchiha pair.
"So your eyes, Hinata?" Aurora asked and Hinata closed her eyes. Eerie red glowed back at them when she reopened her eyes. "I see… how did you come across those eyes?" Tajima asked. "A dear friend from a few years in the future… he didn't want me to suffer anymore…he wanted to be with his little brother… neither of them made it… 'Izanagi died protecting his brother… his brother died from illness, instead of bandits… sometimes things just aren't fair…" Hinata whispered and Tajima nodded.
"I was supposed to lose Aurora the day you saved her, wasn't I?" he asked, the question had been killing him inside from the first day. Hinata nodded, and looked at the ground. "If I don't save Madara… the entire world will be thrown into chaos…" Hinata whispered and both the parents looked at her. "Save him, you mean, he dies?" they asked and Hinata shook her head. "No… I can't tell you exactly what happens… but if I don't help him with his hate… he will be the reason that four shinobi wars occur…" she said and the two exchanged looks.
"Please, do as you must… just save him… save both of them… without one, the other is doomed. They rely on each other as much as we fear losing them. Please save them." Aurora said and Hinata nodded. "I will do my best, but they cannot find out." Hinata said and the two nodded. A small smile crossed Tajima's face as he looked over the young woman in front of him. "He speaks highly of you…" Tajima said out of nowhere. Hinata looked up at the spiky haired male in confusion. "Who does?" she asked and the twinkle in Aurora's eyes made Hinata blush.
"He acknowledged your talent far before I did. He seems to be very interested in you." Tajima chuckled and Hinata fiddled with her fingers. "I do have handsome children, don't I dear?" Aurora asked and Hinata's blush deepened as she glanced up at the older woman. She had never really noticed how pretty Aurora was. Her long blue black hair was soft looking and straight, despite her husband's dull black hair, which Itachi had obviously got down the line somewhere. Sasuke had gotten Mikoto's hair, who had received her lovely hair from this woman and her sons. "Adding your beauty into the bunch would no doubt add in more beauty to the beasts." Aurora laughed lightly, despite the deep red blush Hinata donned.
"You have soft eyes, Hinata… and no doubt a softer heart. Maybe you could sooth the savage beasts that my husband has raised, Madara is the worst. That boy is always fighting something, living, or even those poor defenseless trees! Oh those poor trees! Izuna…" she began, but sighed as her husband chuckled. "That one sees the beauty near the beast." Tajima chuckled and Aurora glared at him as they approached the Uchiha compound. "And again father refers to you as 'That one'." Madara chuckled and Hinata tried not to look at him. Her face flushed red, had his voice gotten a bit deeper? Better yet… had he heard what his mother had been rambling on about? "At least I'm not the beast." Izuna said and Hinata had to glance at him. His voice had deepened as well. Who knew so much could change about them in two months…
"Huh…? Hinata…" Izuna called out to her, his brows furrowed in confusion. "You have eyes like Dad's?" he asked and Madara's head snapped to her. "Before you go saying she stole Uchiha's eyes I will tell you what happened-" Tajima started but Hinata frowned at him. "Someone tried to steal my eyes…as a safety mechanism…my eyes became stronger, as to ward off people trying to steal my eyes. I had gone blind…and when my sight returned… I had Sharingan." She said softly. Madara nodded and Izuna grinned. "Great. Now flame failure, you can join us and give our flames extra oomph with your wind!" Izuna chuckled and Hinata frowned.
"Or she could drown you… but then I would have to hurt her… it's a lose-lose situation for you both. You hurt her, I hurt you. She hurts you, I have to hurt her. I don't want to hurt her, I actually like her." Madara said offhandedly and Izuna glared at him. "Beast." Izuna muttered. "The phrase 'That one'… is a derogatory statement that describes you because it means everything father cannot fully express without mother hitting him again." Madara said simply as he strolled out the door, his father close behind, chuckling to himself. Izuna followed after not too long after the two had left.
"Keep my boys safe… even if they are a handful." Aurora laughed lightly, embarrassed by the fact her husband who was more than mature enough to be stern to his sons; actually incited their little name calling sessions and actually had the audacity to drag her into it. "I will. I have to catch up to them, no doubt they have one another in a choke hold." Hinata laughed lightly and Aurora deadpanned. "They do that in public too? Wonderful…"she laughed bitterly. Hinata laughed and Aurora smiled.
"Don't worry I will keep them in check." Hinata said as an out of breath Uchiha ran in. "lady Aurora! Tajima has been injured. He is still fighting, but he is hurt! And Izuna is locked in combat with the Senju boy, he is injured as well…" they said and Hinata ran out of the compound. She furrowed her brows; this was not supposed to happen, not yet! She hit the ground running, her eyes could still see great distances but it was clearer. She saw Senju all over her brow furrowed as she took out one who had caught sight of her. "This can't happen! I won't let it happen! Izuna!" Hinata yelled and pushed on.
She spun and kicked one Senju in the face he hit the ground and another tried to cut her off but her Sharingan spun and he froze and fell to his knees. She saw him; he wasn't too far from her now. She also saw Hashirama and Butsuma. But she heard Tobirama. "Flying Raijin strike." Hinata's heart stopped as she heard the name of the jutsu. "NO!" she screamed, reaching out to him.
-:-:-:-:-
Madara had gone off to help his father, who was fighting Butsuma with an injured arm. Izuna had defended himself against Tobirama successfully for a while. Hashirama had gone to help his own father. "Why even try to survive? In the end it's all too late…" Tobirama said his eyes hollow and his voice hurt. "Because it is never too late to try…" Izuna said and deflected a hit from Tobirama's blade. Tobirama chuckled and looked at Izuna. "That sounded like something the Hyuuga girl would have said… she had a kind heart like that you know…" Tobirama said and Izuna grit his teeth and lunged at the white haired male.
"So it was you Senju that tried to take her eyes!" Izuna growled as he deflected another of Tobirama's swipes. "My father did so all on his own, I fought against him because of it and… and why should I tell you of what my father did to me!" Tobirama growled and Izuna jumped backwards. Tobirama pointed the sword forwards and frowned at Izuna. "Time to end this." He said and put one foot behind him. Izuna didn't know what he planned to do, but he attempted to ready his own sword, but before he could, her scream and Tobirama's jutsu reached his ears and his eyes went wide. Tobirama shot forwards but the pain never came. Cracked an eye open to see that Tobirama's sword had been shattered and Hinata's hand was outstretched from where she had thrown her own blade in front of his flying Raijin strike to halfway intercept the jutsu.
The other half of the jutsu had been intercepted with her own body. The shoulder of her armor had been ripped off and thrown; a deep bleeding gash ran across her cheek and shoulder. She hit her knees and a green glow coated the wounds without her even moving a hand to heal. Her thick fishnets hadn't been obliterated but her armor was done for. She stood too quickly and hit her knees once more, dizzy. "Tobirama… Izuna… please… no more useless fighting." She pleaded and Tobirama and Izuna glanced at each other then helped her up.
"Hinata!" Tajima's voice echoed through the woods to her. She smiled as Tobirama nodded and made his leave. Madara and Tajima hit the ground in front of her. Madara patted her cheeks, trying to get her to voice a literate thought. Izuna helped Madara lift her and she reached for Tajima. She gripped his shoulder tightly, making him jump in surprise. The green glow shot down his arm and he lifted it to stare in shock at his now uninjured arm. Hinata went completely limp in Madara and Izuna's arms.
They carried her into the Uchiha compound and placed her in her own room. Madara sat beside her bed, and began talking to her when she woke up. "Madara…" she said, a weak smile on her lips. "Thank you." He said and she shook her head. "I didn't do it for thanks… I did it all… all of it… for you…" she said and he looked at her closely, trying to see if she were lying. There was no deceit in her eyes. "Why would you do it for me?" he asked and she reached into her bag and handed him a picture.
"It's me and Izuna…" he said and looked at her. "So you truly are special." He chuckled. "You are special… Madara… special in a way that could set the standards. You could bring peace… or you could bring on a curse of hatred that would never leave. And that is only because you are a person so important… you make an impact on everyone's lives." Hinata said softly and Madara chuckled.
"You think too highly of me." He said and she could see the embarrassment in his eyes. She smiled widely. "Not at all… You may not become a kage of a village… but even then, you could be one of the strongest people to help keep an eye over the village. We wouldn't have to be sent out in necessity, but by rank. Just as you wish." She said sitting up. Madara's eyes became soft and he looked her in the eyes. "If this is all truly for Izuna… if I were him, the pride I would feel for having a brother as loving and caring as you… would be beyond compare… just thinking of how much you love your brother… it warms my heart. To be honest… the Uchiha name struck fear in my heart… when I heard of your name… I was frozen with fear. But I do not fear you anymore… I know that you are just a loving brother who would stop at nothing to save his brother." She said and he had to look away from her.
He bit his lip and his hands shook. "I have lost so many brothers… I was always the oldest… the one who failed to protect them… two of my brothers were twins… they died as twins in the same battlefield… the other died alone…" Madara ground out, still facing away from her. "Izuna is two years younger than me… I almost lost him today… but you... You saved him, a woman a year younger than me… you bring more pride to Kunoichi, than I could ever bring to shinobi. I don't want to lose anyone else. I almost lost my father… my mother… Izuna… you were there every time… you saved my mother… my brother… while I was left to stare in awe and fend for myself..." He said and his shoulders began to shake.
"I understand how you feel… my entire clan was wiped out… and I met my uncle… Butsuma threatened to kill him… he did kill E'lara… another Hyuuga… I couldn't save them… but if I could help you… it's all worth it…" Hinata said and placed a hand on his shoulder. He turned to her and the emotions in her eyes drove him over the edge. He hugged her tightly. "Thank you, Hinata… I could never ask for anything more from you… I never could have asked for this much… you just helped me…" he whispered into her hair. Hinata placed a hand on his cheek and smiled. "Friends do things for friends that could never be repaid. I could never ask anything from you. Being your friend is more than I could bring myself to ask." She said and kissed his forehead.
At that moment Izuna burst in and looked between the two and he began to laugh. Madara sighed and the humor in his eyes said his momentary lapse in strength was over. He stood and she watched as he turned back to her. Before she could say anything to him, he kissed her and her mind went blank. "M-Madara…" she squeaked, her face burning red. He chuckled and raised a brow as she attempted to hide under her blanket. "Oh… sorry, I thought you had missed before, I thought I would just show you where to aim next time." He chuckled tauntingly and strolled out as if he had done nothing, a victorious smirk on his lips. Before he was fully out of the door he stopped and turned to her.
"I think that was just the beginning of a thank you, from my side anyways." He chuckled as he left the doorway. Hinata smiled to herself and placed her fingertips on her lips as she dropped the sheets. Now she knew what Ino meant by what she said by searching the spark, Hinata raised a brow as she looked to where the door was now wide open. The 'I told you so' look that was on Aurora's face didn't even kill her mood. "My boys are beasts! Are they not dear? They just kiss you then leave. Beasts… all of them." She laughed as she swept into the room. "Izuna is shouting it to the world that Madara finally has a girlfriend." Tajima said as he followed his wife into the room.
"And Izuna has a girlfriend?" Hinata asked, the shake of both the parents heads made her sigh. "Then why is it such a big deal? I'm not even really his girlfriend…" she whined and Aurora laughed. She reached and pulled the silver hair ornament from her hair. It was a bunch of silver bell-like flowers. She knew what type of flowers they were, but she couldn't place the name. Aurora placed the ornament in her hair and Tajima ruffle her hair. "Izuna has always had an eye for women… Madara on the other hand…. not so much." Tajima chuckled, Aurora nodded in agreement. Hinata giggled. "There was another Uchiha I knew… hated girls… looked a lot like a cross between you and Madara." Hinata said, pointing at Tajima. Aurora laughed loudly. "I think she means your hair!" she laughed and he glared at her.
"Yes… it defied gravity in the back and reminded me of a duck butt. Yours is not as bad, Tajima-sama." Hinata giggled. "But his name is Sasuke; that guy turned heads from a really young age. He had hair like Lady Aurora's, but it had the whole spiky thing going. He was the center of attention for every girl in konoha, except for me. I had this unhealthy interest in his best friend." Hinata laughed lightly but then her smile diminished and she spoke again.
"But then, there was this blade I found lodged in a tree… her name was Tsubaki. If I had failed, Madara would make this blade from your hair ornament, using his fire style, your prized Uchiha statue, Izuna's favorite shirt with the silver and red fan, and part of his own soul. And he would have given it to the woman who failed Izuna, but stood by his side. I didn't fail him… I didn't let any of you die." Hinata said softly and the two nodded.
"You speak just as highly of him as he was supposed to be, as you do when you are talking about him now. Either way you would have fought by his side to make him happy wouldn't you Hinata?" Tajima asked and she nodded. "The last time that a Hyuuga tried… she didn't save you all but instead took the end of Hashirama's blade for him. I had a red amulet that belonged to a woman… her name was Okami and she had forsaken herself to save Madara. Originally I had thought her to be myself, but I pray to the heavens above that I was wrong…." Hinata said and they nodded. "We understand… time is a never ending cycle, sometimes you succeed, sometimes you're not so lucky… but… Now all you have to do… is figure out how to end this feud. Madara will be more than happy to help, Hashirama was his best friend." Tajima said and stood to leave the room.
"Forgive us if we ask too much." He said as they left. Hinata smiled, "You don't ask enough of me." She said and could feel their chakra become light as they strolled down the hallway. Hinata fisted her hands in the blanket. "After the Senju… I have to go…" she whispered solemnly.
-:-:-:-:-
They all stared at the blade as one by one the elements that made up the blade fell apart, leaving the sorrowful looking steel blade looking deconstructed. Madara crouched beside the blade. "She will return soon… if she returns at all. She still has the Senju to deal with… Butsuma was not a man you wanted to deal with unnecessarily…" Madara said and stared at all the ninja that now stood around him, half of them had been reanimations not too long ago, but now they stood there of their own free will.
It didn't change the fact that the war was still here, Obito was still fighting Naruto, and Naruto still carried nine tails. The kage stood in awe, they still didn't understand the complexity of what the Hokage, and apparently the kazekage as well had done.
"I must commend you all. You were smarter than I had anticipated. But as I said, the heroes always die…no one has ever made it this far into changing the entire flow of history. But she is bound to fail, or I am bound to fail her…" he said and Tsunade frowned. "Have faith, she saved Izuna for you… no ulterior motive, just for you. I had originally thought she had other plans for saving our time, but she chose the peaceful route…" she said and he frowned. "How can I have faith when I am sitting here, unable to do anything to change my own past, while a woman from this time is making my life million times better and I am learning this all over again for the first time…" he said and Tsunade smiled. "Because you know she will save you." Tsunade said.
"I doubt that… I would much rather her just kill me." Madara snapped.
