Chapter 4

Jungkook wrapped his fingers around his brown colored mug as he softly blew on the steaming brown liquid inside. Coffee always helped the brunette to think more and to keep his head clear. At least 5 times a day the boy drank this exact drink in order to keep functioning at his best. In his branch of work there was no room for mistakes and thus he wouldn't make any. He simply couldn't afford to.

The price was too high

One small mistake could cost Jungkook his life. Either the one who asked him to do the job would kill him brutally or the police would catch him and he would be send to prison. The hacker didn't know which scenario he thought was worse. Obviously he did not want to die yet as he was only 24 years old and still had a lot of plans but he also didn't want to spend the rest of his life behind bars. If everything went right the brunette still had a lot of years left to live and he surely wouldn't like to watch the same damn scene every single day while he was wearing an ugly orange suit and was being treated like shit. Both prison and death weren't on his bucketlist.

Jungkook softly blew on the hot liquid inside his cup another time before he walked over towards the window in his apartment. A beautiful scene was displayed in front of him. The street lights had turned on about thirty minutes ago and people were passing by the apartment complex he was living in continuously. The headlights of multiple cars passing these streets illuminated the otherwise dull grey streets and gave the neighborhood the last spark it needed to be called lively. Eventhough from the floor the brunette was standing on now everything looked fairly small he could still feel the vibe that this neighborhood gave of in every inch of his body. Even after two years of living here the boy hadn't thought for one split second about moving.

Jungkook lived inside one of the best neighborhoods in all of Seoul. His many jobs he did for all those dangerous criminals paid pretty well and while none of them payed as much as his most recent one was paying him that didn't mean that he couldn't afford a nice apartment due to his earnings.

His apartment wasn't really big or anything. Some would even dare to call it cozy. It was a fairly small apartment on the 30th floor of a nice white building. One of the walls was completely covered with windows while the other side of his apartment would lead to his bedroom and bathroom. A cute black sofa was situated on the left side of the apartment with a big tv in front of it and on the right side a fairly normal kitchen could be found, including Jungkook's beloved coffee machine.

In the middle of the room a whole computer area was made so that Jungkook could work from home if he wanted to. Obviously the boy was really skilled in the whole hacking thing and thus he had no problem with making sure that no one could trace his location. This is also were the serious money of the apartment could be found. These computer gadgets were worth a lot of money and Jungkook treated them as if they were his babies. He had worked hard to get so far and he couldn't be more proud of himself. The fact that what he didn't wasn't completely legal was besides the point. After all his job had gotten him where he was now.

On the boy's wooden dinner table his laptop was situated. The device was completely pimped by Jungkook himself and it was his favorite out of all the devices he owned. The laptop made it possible for Jungkook to also do his job basically anywhere he wanted so that his clients could watch how he was fixing the job he gave them. Bringing the laptop to them and fixing the job in their lair was something that Jungkook liked doing a lot, seeing as the alternative was that they had to come to his apartment if they wanted to see what he was doing. No way in hell that he would willingly show anyone out of the underworld where he lived. He wasn't completely stupid, that would be the same as signing his own death sentence.

Jungkook preferred the one job gigs. The concept of take the money and do your job and after that we never see each other again was something that made the boy feel safe. Of course he wasn't a softy but to say he was really tough would be wrong too. Jungkook was a hacker, not a gunman and thus he was quite vulnerable in this type of business. The fact that he had no strings attached at one time gigs was something that relieved the brunette a lot. Ohh how he wished that the job he was doing for this Namjoon guy turned out to be a one time gig too.

This morning however the hacker had received a text on his Iphone saying how the sender expected the boy to be home this night at 7 p.m. and somehow the brunette had known exactly who had send him that text. Not once had he given his address to someone he knew from his work and now someone was going to knock on his door tonight. This must be without a doubt Namjoon and his team. They had figured out his name, his appearance and his past without Jungkook telling them anything so they must know exactly where the hacker lived too. That would be the most logical explanation.

Jungkook however wasn't too bothered by that fact. Two days ago when he had visited the other males in their lair it had become painfully clear that these guys needed him to do the job, otherwise they would be screwed. The blonde male named Taehyung had even admitted that he thought Jungkook was the only one that could actually fix this job and as much as Jungkook was of course flattered to hear once again that he was indeed the best hacker in the criminal underworld of Seoul it also made him a bit cocky. Ohh how he loved other people telling him how much they needed him.

Knowing this made the hacker have a big fat adventage

Jungkook once again blew on his steaming mug of hot coffee before he carefully took a small sip from the hot liquid. As the brown drink was rolling over his tongue and giving him a statisfied feeling he suddenly heard someone knock loudly on his door. An annoyed expression grew on the brunette's face and he walked away from his window in order to open the door for whoever it was that was knocking on the other side of it. So much for wanting to spend a quiet night at home after working hard all week..

As Jungkook opened the door he wasn't surprised to be met with the familiar faces of both Taehyung and Namjoon on the other side. While the blonde looked down while slightly leaning against the door frame in an uninterested way Namjoon was smirking, a confident and powerful look dominating his facial features. The grey haired male adjusted the tie he was wearing slightly before he locked eyes with Jungkook. The brunette looked annoyed and he twitched his eyebrows slightly before he took a step inside and gestured with his empty hand for both males to come inside.

Immediately Namjoon and Taehyung both walked in before Jungkook closed the door behind them. There was no way he would talk about anything business related while those two were still standing in the hallway. If one of his neighbors heard him then they would for sure call the cops. Hell no that the brunette would let that happen.

Then his whole alter ego had been for nothing

"Take a seat." Jungkook spoke as soon as he had closed the door and all three of them walked over to the boy's dinner table. Taehyung seemed to look around the younger's apartment with a bored look on his face and Jungkook watched every single move the male made. Ohh how he would love to know what kind of places these guys lived in themselves in order to judge them just as much as they were judging him now. It was for sure not the creepy haunted house they used as their lair and thus the brunette could only wonder from what backgrounds these two came from.

For Namjoon the hacker surely thought that he came from a long line of murderers and criminals. The male was just way too dominant and he seemed to have a natural leader instinct. No way that this male had grown up with a loving mother and father by his side. A family of gang leaders of mafia bosses sounded way more logical according to Jungkook. That must have also been where he got his cocky behavior from.

As for Taehyung, the hacker couldn't really place him in a certain box. Taehyung on one hand seemed to fit perfectly in the rough past and forced to become a criminal in order to survive box but on the other hand the brunette also saw him fit perfectly in the spoiled rich kid who hung out with the wrong friends and ended up taking the wrong path box. Because of Taehyung not really giving Jungkook any clue as to which one he was more close with the brunette decided to just go with both.

Maybe even a nice mixture of the two

"Nice apartment you have here Jeon." Namjoon spoke as he looked a bit around himself, that annoying smirk still plastered on his face as if it was glued there. Ohh how Jungkook would love to wipe that expression off of the older male's face however he knew he couldn't do that. These two men were paying him for his services and there was no way he was going to lose such a big job as he had gotten now by being rude. As much as Jungkook disliked the way Namjoon treated him he would put up with it 'till a certain length.

"Thanks, that's what you get when you are good at something and work hard." Jungkook answered back in a challenging tone while not even blinking once. There was no way he would show a vulnerable side of himself to any of these two men. These guys couldn't be trusted and Jungkook knew that damn well. Ohh how he wished that he could have just come to their lair again. it would have been much saver for the hacker himself instead of having these two in the safety of his own home. Never before had the brunette felt like a outstander in his own freaking apartment and yet here he was, feeling like he didn't belong here at all.

Namjoon laughed loudly while Taehyung suddenly focused his gaze on Jungkook. The older male's piercing brown orbs were almost burning their way into the younger's skin and Jungkook swallowed visibly. It was as clear as crystal that the blonde wanted something from him and while the brunette still had no idea what that exactly was he somehow had a feeling that he would find out pretty soon. Taehyung's gaze never left Jungkook's eyes even once and once again his own gaze got captured by them. A hint of curiosity could be spotted inside the hacker's own eyes while Taehyung's only displayed an empty feeling as if the boy hadn't felt anything in a really long time. Yet another mystery Jungkook would love to solve, all those mysteries these pretty eyes of his kept hiding.

His eyes looked almost lifeless

Soon however the blonde spoke up while shifting slightly in his seat. "We want you to take a first look at the lock you will have to hack." The older male spoke while not leaving Jungkook's eyes with his own gaze. Back in their lair Namjoon and his team had spoken about how they wanted Hersey to come as prepared to their mission as possible and for that to actually happen the boy needed to actually know what he was dealing with. The less time it took for Jungkook to get what they came for the smaller the chance that the police would catch up with them. Whatever happened, they wanted the police to stay out of this.

Their plan was simple. While they raised some hell Johnny would 'kidnap' Jungkook to the back of the bank and the brunette would hack into the vault before taking what they came for. After that Johnny would act as if he had what they had come for and then the whole team except for Jungkook would leave. Jungkook would then be interrogated by the police and after he was free he'd deliver what the team was after. According to Namjoon their plan was perfect, if Jungkook decided not to double cross them. The success of their mission rested entirely upon the hacker's shoulders and while that was quite a heavy burden the whole team had agreed that this was the only way to do it.

No one would look for some stolen treasure on a poor simple traumatized boy...

Jungkook took a small sip from his mug of coffee before he nodded and opened his laptop. It wouldn't be any use to argue about how he had no desire to do so until the actual job had begun and how this was a waste of time. These male were pretty stubborn and acting like a brat wasn't going to bring the brunette anywhere at this point. The best option Jungkook had was just corporate and hopefully they would leave again soon so that he could actually enjoy the remainder of his evening.

As soon as Jungkook had started up his computer the boy began to do exactly as his clients had asked him and before the brunette knew it he had closed himself off completely from the outside world. Hacking was like his second nature and the boy was practically a magician when it came to the art of it. Hacking the security system of Seoul's biggest bank would be a small challenge for the hacking genius but there was nothing the boy didn't dare to do. If Taehyung and Namjoon wanted them to show them how far his abilities reached then they could take a few notes. No one could stop the infamous Hersey when he had set his mind to it.

Within fifteen minutes the brunette turned his laptop a bit to the side so that the males on the other side of the table could see what he was doing. "If I press this single button I will instantly turn off all the camera's inside the whole building. However, seeing as that would raise some alarms I suggest that I hack into their security system and cut off the camera's while their screens start playing the footage of yesterday. That way there won't be any suspicion of something being wrong while we do our job." The brunette began to explain and immediately Namjoon nodded understandingly while a small smirk formed onto his lips.

"So you really are as smart as they say. I must say I'm quite impressed." The grey haired male spoke as he adjusted his tie again in order to loosen it a bit. Taehyung nodded understandingly while taking in every single thing on the younger's computer screen. Adding Jungkook to their team had really been an upgrade and while they did have to pay a lot of money for his services the blonde didn't regret it one bit. Jungkook was worth every single penny if he could fix the job.

Money didn't matter to the blonde anyway

"And the vault?" Taehyung then asked, showing where his true interest were focussed on. Jungkook turned his computer screen around again and immediately began to busily type on the device once again before he turned the screen around a mere ten minutes later in order to show Taehyung that he had found exactly what it was that Taehyung was looking for.

"It's locked with a code indeed and this one is going to be quite the challenge to crack open by the looks of it." Jungkook spoke as he watched how both Namjoon and Taehyung watched the screen carefully to take in all the information that was on it. "How much time will it cost?" Namjoon immediately spoke as he heard the last sentence leave Jungkook's mouth. They didn't want to spend any longer inside that bank than they had too and if Jungkook needed a lot of time to crack it open then that would bring a lot of extra risks. None of them wanted those extra risks.

"Twenty minutes at most." Jungkook spoke before raising both his eyebrows at the males in front of him. Immediately Namjoon sighed softly before he shook his head. "That's too long." The grey haired male spoke and Jungkook scoffed as an answer while once again locking eyes with Namjoon, a challenging look complimenting his features. "It's not like I can use magic and do it any faster."

Taehyung took a good look at both males in front of him before he settled his gaze on the brunette once again. "Three million." He said while a hint of uneasiness could be spotted in the boy's eyes. Jungkook's jaw immediately dropped once he heard what the older male had said and his heart began to beat a bit faster in his chest. Was this guy seriously offering more money in order for him to do it faster? Had he lost his mind?

"E-excuse me?" The brunette stammered, still not completely recovered from the shock of the new amount of money Taehyung was offering him. The blonde didn't look the slightest bit as if he was joking about all this and Jungkook's eyes grew as big as saucers the moment it dawned up the male that Taehyung was indeed offering him that amount in order for him to work a bit faster.

"I am willing to raise the amount of your payment to three million dollars if you manage to do it in ten." Taehyung clarified his statement, a dead serious look on his face. This guy wasn't the type to joke around and soon a big fat smirk began to form itself on Jungkook's face before he nodded.

"I guess we have a deal then."
