Chapter 30
After their visit to Mrs. Kim the group of boys who had gone to meet her had made their way back to the apartment and even though they had left in the morning it was now almost time for dinner. The sun had already began to settle while slowly the dark night sky began to take over. Judging from the fact that this might be a touchy subject for Taehyung to talk about the two of them had decided that Namjoon would fill the others in on everythign they'd gotten to know today after they'd finsihed their dinner.
"So you mean to tell us we now actually know where that damn chip has gone?" Yoongi spoke as he listened to how Namjoon filled him and the others in about their visit with Mrs. Kim. A relieved look could be spotted on the male's face and he couldn't wait until they were going on their mission to get it back. The others supported looks of happiness on their faces as well and it as clear as crystal to anyone who'd look at this group that something great had happened to them.
"Yes that's exactly what I'm saying." Namjoon confirmed before he began to support a sly look on his face. "It won't be long until that chip is back in our possesion. I've asked Jungkook to scan down the building and try to find out if the chip is hidden in a vault again. Once he is done we are ready to make our move." The silver haired male spoke before he sat down on one of the sofa's in the living room.
It wouldn't be long before they would finally have that chip back and once they got it back finally Seunghoon would be brought to his downfall. That's all Namjoon wanted. The moment he decides to join the FBI all he had ever wanted was to bring justice to the people in Korea by locking up everyone who'd try to do them wrong. Getting that chip back and making Seunghoon's plans public surely was the right thing to do for everyone who valued their normal everyday life. For him it wasn't even a choice if he had to get that chip back, it was his duty.
"How about we celebrate by having a fun night together? You know drink a few wines, chat without having to think about work?" Jimin then suggested, sparks already shining in the pink haired boy's eyes upon the thought of having a night off to do what he liked most, just be carefree and enjoy the moment. "I know we are all tired and I think we deserve to have one night to ourselves, right?"
Namjoon softly sighed before a small smile began to play on his lips. "You know what Jimin, I think you're right. A night without thinking of work surely wouldn't do any of us any harm and Jungkook can start trying to hack into the building tomorrow." Namjoon spoke, quietly admitting to himself that he too was quite a bit overworked. These past few weeks had been filled with only work and getting the chip back. He didn't have any free time to do something he liked and with a night like this he was sure he'd be able to completely focus on his job again, without getting distracted.
Jimin cheered out of happiness upon hearing Namjoon agree towards his plan and before anyone knew it the pink haired boy ran towards the kitchen, getting all kinds of alcohol and food, claiming this was exactly what they needed for their fun night together. Jungkook softly laughed at the antics of the elder and shook his head lightly. Even though Jimin was great at his job he surely didn't act like he was this trained FBI agent who'd occasionally go on a special mission. No, if Jungkook hadn't know him he had never even guessed the pink haired male to be somewhat even close to an FBI agent.
Maybe due to Jimin being so different from what anyone would ever imagine a FBI agent to be he was just right for the job. After all, most FBI agents worked undercover right? And who'd ever suspect that this bubbly and carefree male was secretly a great gunman and knew exactly how to get in your head? The more Jungkook thought about it the more he understood why the elder was such a great agent. No one would ever suspect him in any way possible.
It didnt take long before everyone sat on a sofa, chatting happily with one another. Everyone but Taehyung. Jungkook had noticed him standing on the balcony a while back and it somehow made him feel sad for the older male. A lot had happened today for the blonde and that must have taken an impact on him. After all, Jungkook would've been sure that it had made an impact on him, had he been the one in the elder's shoes.
Deciding that standing outside alone wasn't going to do Taehyung any good Jungkook excused himself from his chat with Jimin and Taemin and walked over towards the balcony before pushing the door open. The door made a soft creeking noise and Taehyung slightly turned his head to the side to see from the corner of his eyes who joined him on the balcony.
Jungkook smiled before he walked over towards were Taehyung was leaning against the railing of the balcony and he immediately saw the distant look on the elder's face. It was clear as crystal that the blonde had been thinking about everything that troubled him and Jungkook decided then and there that he couldn't let him suffer outside alone any longer. Tonight was about having fun and just enjoying the night so the brunnete would make sure Taehyung got to enjoy his as well.
"Why did you come outside?" Taehyung spoke before taking one last drag from his cigarette and throwing it on the ground in order to put it out with his foot. Jungkook smiled thankfully towards the elder, knowing the blonde had only stopped smoking because he knew Jungkook didn't like the smell of the cigarette. "To keep you company, why else would I come outside?"
Taehyung smiled slightly at Jungkook before he focussed his gaze on the stars that slightly lit up the otherwise pitch black sky. Tonight at least a 1000 could be spotted spread out as far as one could see, covering the night in tiny little lights flickering ever so slightly. "That's really nice of you." Taehyung spoke before a small sigh left his lips.
Jungkook shook his head before he looked up at the night sky as well. "You wouldv'e done the same for me. I think the beter question to ask this chilly evening is why are you not inside Taehyung? Do you prefer the cold above us?" Jungkook joked, a playful tone lacing his voice. Of course he had a few ideas why Taehyung had chosen to go outside rather than to be inside but he didn't want to draw any conclusions for himself. Nor did he want Taehyung to feel pushed about having to talk to him about today. If the elder was willing to talk then he would.
"A lot happened today. I guess I just needed some fresh air to let it all sink in and think about it in silence." The blonde admitted before a troubled sigh left his lips. So much had changed today. Yesterday he had hated his mother for abandoning him and today they would try and mend their relationship again. Even though Taehyung was happy about the thought of having his mother back in his life he still mourned those years he had not seen her. All those years he had hated her for something she had had no choice in doing so. She had made very decision with him in her mind, even if that meant that she'd hurt herself in the process.
Jungkook nodded, understanding that a lot was going on inside Taehyung's head and and he took he step forward before he wrapped his arms around the elder's upper body. The muscles underneath his hands immediately began to tense slightly and while the brunette could not see the blonde's face he just knew that a questioning look would be clearly visible on Taehyung's features now. "You've gotta stop keeping all your thoughts to yourself Tae." The younger male spoke as he slowly felt Taehyung relax in the hug he was giving him and even start to wrap his own arms around Jungkook's body. "It helps to talk about what's going on inside that pretty head of yours."
Even though it was Jungkook who had initiated the hug he couldn't help but really enjoy the current position he was in. Being in Taehyung's arms made him feel safe. The blonde had saved him twice already from death and over these past few weeks he had felt like the two of them had grown a lot closer. Jungkook truly considered Taehyung his friend and he hoped that the blonde would feel the same way about him. He hadn't had a friend in forever and now that he'd gotten a taste of it he couldn't imagine how he'd survived that long on his own. Taehyung and the others had learned Jungkook that the life he had lives up until that point had been a lonely one, one the brunette wouldn't choose for himself again.
"There's too much going on inside it Jungkook." The blonde spoke, a sigh leaving his lips and his arms slightly thightening around the other male he was holding in them. "Too much shit to talk about and too little time to talk about it." The blonde answered while resting his chin on the other's shoulder. He hated the fact that his past still had so much effect on him. His whole life he had been the person people expected him to be. He had always tried to be perfect and meet every expectation thrown and him and now that Taehyung had finally broken out of his cage he found that becoming the person who he'd wanted to be was going to be harder that he thought it would. His mind was contstantly troubled with his past and the 'what if's' that clouded his mind.
"I think there's plenty time to talk about it." The brunette answered, shaking Taehyung out of his thoughts and back to reality. "We are friends Tae, you know everything there is to know about me and after today I doubt there is anything I don't know about you." Jungkook continued, his mind traveling back to the moment where Seoyun had spoken of Taehyung's father.
The brunette suddenly softly felt the other male's head nod and he smiled. Somehow it felt as a relief to finally have nothing standing in between the two of them. Even though the brunette had understood every single reason for the blonde to hide who he really was it still had felt like this big thing that had stood between him and Taehyung truly becoming friends. Now that it was gone however nothing was preventing them from being that. "You can trust me Tae."
"Why did you actually try to hide the fact Kim Seunghoon is your dad?" Jungkook then asked as curiosity got the best of him. Of course he hadn't expected Taehyung to show his deepest and darkest secrets with him at the beginning of this mission. They had hardly even know each other back then. However somehow the brunette couldn't help but feel as though the blonde would have never spoken a word about his father at all if it hadn't been for his mother doing so for him.
A deep sigh left Taehyung's lips again before he raised his head and loosed their hug a bit so that he could look the other male in his eyes. "I'm scared." He admitted before immediately breaking the eye contact he had with Jungkook, his eyes traveling off to the side of the balcony. Cars could be spotted roaming the dark and dimly lit streets of Seoul. Even though it was night time this city felt as though it never slept. There were always people who had some business being outside, even though the night had fallen upon the capital city of Korea a long time ago.
"I'm scared of becoming like him Jungkook. Scared that the monster that lives within him also lives in me." The blonde spoke, a concerned tone lacing his voice. "I possess so much traits he does as well and even though I try to do everything in my power to stop him somehow I still feel like one day I'd be just as power creedy and selfish as he is. I want to prove to badly that I am nothing like him when in reality i know that I am. We are not that different from each other and it creeps me out." Taehyung admitted, a troubled look clearly visible on his face after finally throwing out the main subject of why he had been so lost in thoughts this evening. Upon noticing that Taehyung wasn't trying to hide from Jungkook how he was feeling a small smile broke out on the younger's face. He liked the fact that the elder trusted him enough to talk about this and showed him how he really felt without having the urge to just hide it all.
"I've never before heard you speak such nonsense Tae." Jungkook spoke, a small smile still visible on his face. Taehyung's eyes immediately shot back to Jungkook's the moment he heard those words and a confused look could easily be spotted inside of them. "Even though you might not see it, I see not a single resemblance you claim to have with your father. If anything, you are the complete opposite of him." Jungkook continued, a soft yet sincere tone lacing his voice.
Taehyung sighed again before he closed his eyes briefly and shook his head. "Jungkook you don't understand -." The blonde began but stopped talking when he got cut of by the boy who had still loosely wrapped his arms around his body. "Ohh but I do understand Taehyung. When I look at you and compare you to your father I see two complete opposites of each other. You chose to go against your father Tae. You and you alone have chosen to act on the right side of this all and decided to find help to try and stop him." The brunette spoke, looking the blonde straight in his eyes. "To me, that makes the two of you worlds apart. Even though you might share some shared personality traits you couldn't be more different from your father Taehyung. You are nothing like him and you never will be." Jungkook finished, a genuine look visible on his face. It was true what he had said, he didn't think the blonde would have ever made the same choices his father had made if he had been in his shoes. Taehyung just wasn't like that, even though he might think so differently himself.
Upon hearing those words Taehyung broke eye contact, a slight hint of tears forming visible in his eyes. "Can you please hug me a bit tighter again?" The blonde then spoke and Jungkook slightly nodded before he once again engulfed the older male in a hug. He knew his words had reached Taehyung and that even though the blonde hadn't answered them he was still very gratefull for everything Jungkook said. upon getting to know Taehyung he'd found out the blonde wasn't exactly the type to be hugging people and the fact that he'd just asked Jungkook for exactly that made all the blonde's feelings crystal clear to the hacker.
Both boys remained in the balcony for quite some time in silence, just enjoying the hug they shared and finding comfort in each other's arms. The two of them had grown significantly closer these past few weeks and both of them were quite happy with that fact. They'd found the other to be a great friend. One they'd both so desperately needed at this time in life and who knows, maybe they would grow even closer as more time passed.
After all, only time could tell what the future had in store for them
